Very disappointing. The food is generally OK, overpriced for the quality, but not disastrously so. Lamb was somewhat overcooked and the pastry base of the pineapple tatin not cooked at all. The main fault is the service which was of the usual slapdash, amateurish British style we have become accustomed. Half of our table's desserts had to be requested three times before they finally arrived. Even in an almost completely empty restaurant on a Monday night the service was glacially slow and often entirely absent. I've been there three times in the past 2 years and , unfortunately, it's not getting better.

We stayed in the hotel and had dinner and breakfast. Dinner was excellent. I had chicken liver pate to start and thought the portion was quite small but delicious. Followed with lamb shoulder and veg really tasty, hot and full of flavour. My sister had the salmon which was enormous and the husbands had mussels for main. All lovely. Great breakfast. Staff were friendly and efficient and rooms were clean and comfortable.

went here for our anniversary, so many places closed on a Monday and Tuesday for food then I remembered Dunkerley's, had a lovely meal and the chef was so good with mine as I am wheat, gluten and lactose free, we were not going to have afters but got too tempted it was so worth it, yes will come again and recommend, thank you chef xxx

Said I couldn’t have a Sunday roast because I was sitting outside ???? Settled for cod and chips cod was very nice indeed chips must of gone missing on the plate because there was very few . Krombacker lager was excellent very refreshing. Kids meals were ok again small portions of chips (is there a Potato shortage in Deal)? Friend enjoy the crab and the misses liked her katsu chicken . Some staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there and unfortunately we found that a little rude .

Decadence at Dunkerley’s ….. …….Clawless lobster ? Out with family celebrating 2 birthdays - ordered the decadence at Dunkerly’s for two of us … the Gavi di Gavi didn’t come with the food Had to ask four times ….. The wine barely arrived before we finished the food … We had the lobster with no claws ….. And the waitresses didn’t seem to know that we would need taste the wine nor need a napkin for the wine bottle, in order not to dip water all over the food The food on the whole was good - sauces over salted and the absence of claws was explained by the claws being incorporated in to the body of the lobster …? which might explain the presence of lobster shell in the dish Great concept - poorly executed.

Shocking cocktail at Dunkerleys unable to drink as so disgusting returned and girl that made it agreed expected me to pay for another cocktail full price. Never again - asked me to pay towards another replacement - then requested refund and staff had to call manager to ask permission wtf! Offered partial refund terrible service / dont bother

Very disappointing. I had been wanting to visit this restaurant for some time now as it was known for its seafood. I probably picked the wrong dish. The 1/2 Lobster was skimpy and tasteless, more shell than anything else, in a thin buttery type sauce that did not really taste of much garlic or chilli, it came with skinny fries, more suited to McDs and soggy Rocket salad. My partner had Hake which he said was well cooked but was not impressed with the 'baby food' type mash it came with. He had to send back 2 pints of the Tribune ale as it was Cloudy and tasted funny, but settled for a pint of London Pride which he said was OK. All I can say is that the Staff were very attentive and the coffee was OK, but if you are in a restaurant you are there for the food and I certainly would not rush back for what we had. Disappointing.

Warm prawns, Lamb with dauphinoise virtually inedible. Head waitress had slightly bad attitude. Had to ask for things that were included in the menu or obviously required.

Great independent hotel. Rooms were a tad outdated but perfect for a few days In Deal. Ideal location with excellent service. Great breakfast as well.

Fantastic B&B, good food, and friendly staff

I had heard good things about this restaurant but was quite disappointed. The food was average-to-fine at best, the decor is dated (it looks like something from the 1980s inside) and it’s not in any way modern or trendy nor is there a wide selection of food. We ended up leaving after the main course and opting for a dessert elsewhere because we just didn’t want to spend more money on average food. We had 2 drinks each, 2 starters and 2 main courses and it came to £120. Which is fine if the food is fantastic but it just wasn’t. It was bland, unexciting and average and had a distinct ‘I’m sat in the restaurant of a Wetherspoons’ feel to it. We won’t be returning.

Didn't stay, only called in for lunch which was really good again. Well worth dropping in cooked fresh. As they don't serve easy dining pizza,and burgers. There are never too many children there.

The hotel itself was nice,we had a room with a lovely Pier and seafront view. The breakfast was also good with cereals and a good choice of very tasty cooked food. So what's the problem? Parking,the carpark is a short stroll from the hotel,but the cost in my opinion, is expensive, for 3 hours its £5.40 (£1.80 an hour) no return after 3 hours,so what are you supposed to do? if out walking you would have to come back and take the car to find another place to park,you can get there at 6pm and pay for 3 hours the following day but then you still have to move the car and cannot pay for an extended period (3 hours no return),also for whatever reason we could not download the App to pay, so had to go back to hotel to get change to feed the machine, well you would be lucky to have the right money and ended up just putting in £6.00 or £5.50. So to summarise hotel and staff were excellent,parking an expensive nuisance.

Breakfast included in the price of the accomodation. Full english, continental and fish option available. The full english was everything you can expect for that type if breakfast. More selection could be offered for the continental I e different cereals, individual yogurts as opposed to one large portion of plan yogurt, Pastries weren't obviously available and fresh fruit was limited.

Went to the restaurant earlier and had the oysters and the scallops. Was immensely below average. Oysters were tiny with loads of bits in em. Weren't shucked very well. Scallops were too nicely plated for what they were. Deffo from frozen. Waiting staff were nice.

Realising at 9.00 p.m. on a Saturday night that not everywhere in Deal was still serving food, we were much relieved to be made welcome at Dunkerley’s. Friendly service and good food served promptly. Look forward to returning.

As ever a good meal much enjoyed. Fairly easy access from the front, but a couple of steps in the side entrance.

The new Decadence offer on Dunkerleys menu is delicious and great value. A sharing platter for two with fillet steak, a lobster, prawns and scallops, with a quality red or white wine. It was fabulous!

Absolutely superb Dover Sole, perfectly cooked, fresh, just wonderful. Lovely view from the bar where we ate out to sea, staff were very attentive, chocolate delice for pudding was fabulous too. Really good.

Visited Dunkerleys to have dinner with my wife whose birthday it was & our daughter.. sadly disappointed. We have visited reasonably regularly, particularly to have the beer battered fish & chips, which are always excellent. I decided to have the 'half kilo' of mussels with French fries, my wife had pork belly & daughter choosing the beef fillet, which appeared on the bill as 'beef Tornedos'(sic). My wife commented that the pork belly was nice , my 'half kilo' of mussels had a lot of empty shells in the pot & were not particularly hot..daughter's fillet or 'tornedos' was really quite small & appeared on the bill at £32, which I do believe to be rather on the high side considering the size of the steak. She asked for peppercorn sauce that was not an option on the menu, but eventually arrived. It just appeared to be some warmed up cream with raw onions & a few peppercorns in it..not nice & not eaten. A waitress came & asked if everything was ok, we mentioned the 'peppercorn sauce' & were told that it would be taken off the bill. When I went to pay & was asked how our meal was, when I replied 'disappointing', I mentioned the small steak & empty shells, I was challenged by another waitress who said "well you never said anything when we asked you how it was, only the sauce.' I responded to that by saying that we couldn't give her our opinion on the whole meal as we hadn't anywhere near finished when we were asked. I did agree to an optional 15% tip & stressed that it was for the waiting staff & not the kitchen, as we did not think the food was up to much.

We stopped by on a whim on a bright but blustry lunchtime in March and were very glad we did. The staff were polite and attentive and the food delicious. Starting with the local caught Herring & Scallops then mains of Plaice and Hake all were perfectly cooked, of generous portion size and amazingly cheap for the quality. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in Deal!

Somewhile ago now I had reason to write a somewhat critical review of a very dissappointing fish lunch in this restaurant.Today we decided to give it another go. What a difference! The lamb rump and its accompaniments were superb,the sweets were 1st class and the service excellent. Well done! We will certainly not leave it so long again before returning

Me and my partner went here after our engagement for dinner and I told our lovely waitress what had just occurred and they brought out this beautiful plate with our dessert! Such lovely friendly staff and the dessert was to die for!

The quality of the food was decent, but we found the pork to be quite tough and chewy. On the positive side, we really enjoyed the oysters they served. However, we did experience some frustration with the service as it took a significantly long time for our orders to be served. Despite these issues, we appreciated the overall dining experience.

Sick after seafood experience. My partner and I are locals and have been to this restaurant before - the meat dish was lovely. However, on Friday 12th January 2024 we decided to share a starter of grilled oysters with garlic butter. The dish was bought out and it was a plate of raw oysters. We kindly corrected the waitress and our dish was taken away. When it returned the oyster shells felt slightly warm to touch and there was indeed garlic butter melted onto them. I suspect they were the same raw oysters with butter melted. This was the only dish my partner and I shared and we have both had vomiting and diarrhea which commenced on the Sunday and I am still off work feeling absolutely awful. I am disappointed as I emailed Dunkerleys to let them know how sick we were but have still had absolutely no response. I don't expect to go for a meal and end up with food poisoning and a week off work. Sort it out.

Four of us went for dinner as part of an overnight stay between Christmas and New Year. Without going into the detail of everyone's three courses, all I can say is (apart from them having no oysters) every course and dish we had was excellent. The service was polite and efficient, without being over-efficient, and the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant without being too loud. The wine list was good and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back again when in Deal 👍

We enjoyed our meal very much, focussing on the excellent fish menu. The atmosphere was relaxed, but with attentive and prompt service. The quality of the cooking was excellent. We look forward to being back soon.

My friend and I celebrated Xmas at Dunkerleys this week, it was great value for a 3 course Xmas meal and the food was excellent. Good portion sizes and delicious food. The wines are always good there and very well priced. The restaurant was full, so there was a buzzy atmosphere and service was friendly and professional. We were really impressed and we had a fab night.

I’ve eaten in the wonderful restaurant many times but tonight, after a long day driving I was starving and just needed a quick simple meal and a pint. The sausage and mash with onion gravy from the bar menu was to die for, plus a pint of the fabulous local Time and Tide beer. Deal is very luck to have both Dunkerley’s and the local brewery.

Have visited the restaurant and bistro many times with friends and family. Lovely atmosphere and good service every time. Great selection of menu choices specialising in seafood, with many other meat, vegetarian options at a reasonable price. I have lived in Deal for many years and Dunkerleys is my first choice every time.

Die Jakobsmuscheln als Vorspeise waren ein Gedicht und die Hauptspeisen Hummer, Seezunge und Lamm waren außergewöhnlich - sowohl geschmacklich als auch von der Präsentation. Dazu gab es einen passenden Wein von der gut sortierten Weinkarte. Wir werden noch lange an diesen Abend zurückdenken. Danke an das Team von Dunkerley's.
