Do not book. We paid full price for this lounge but when my wife arrived all the comfortable seats had reserved signs. When I asked the staff about it they said they were reserved for larger groups. We had to sit on plastic chairs that were probably less comfortable than the normal airport chairs.

The food here is sensational. . unexpected in a hotel where the fare is more likely to be hamburgers. The taste of their juicy miso aubergines is both delicate and for me a wholly new experience. The wague beef melts in your mouth, I cd go on and on. The service in particular by the sparkling and informed Megha was excellent. H.K oversees with grace. As the famous Michelin Guides used to say about outstanding hotels and restaurants in out of the way places "worth a detour".

Not a great food selection, it'll do, but if you compare it to a meal out, you wouldn't go back. Feels like a cramped 2-star experience. Had frozen fruit and yogurt. Natural fruit choice limited. Drinks is served only (no self-service)...and not a great selection. Main centre eating tables are literally squashed beside each other (15cm apart) no privacy, and if full, you wouldn't be able to get out of your seat without nudging the table. Feels like caging animal effect just for the sake of getting an extra table in - impact squashed and nowhere for your cabin bags! (not well thought out) Went to use the library, a supposed quiet business section, but because it was so full, people were eating in there and talking loudly. No peace. And none of the USB charging ports worked at the main table. Not baby friendly as after entering you need to walk up a stairs. No baby chairs observed. Coffee/tea machines were OK, but basic. Water was in a jug only, once you find it, its hidden by the bar, not where all the food and fizzy drinks are, other juice jugs, etc were empty, juices are sweetened by taste, not fresh. Also no water refill point inside. Next time, I'll try a different lounge... Staff were nice, helpful and kept tables clean. I didn't see a WiFi advertised, not sure if one is there etc. I did see a, woman walk in with a coffee container from outside, it was taken off her, as if, don't fill it and go, looked odd, I mean why does it matter, you've paid to be in there....

We stayed at Premier Inn at Gatwick's North Terminal and enjoyed dinner on two nights at Thyme Restaurant. It far more convenient to dine-in than go elsewhere or suffer the limited, bad-valued terminal food. It is advisable to book dinner as you check-in, especially if you enjoy eating early. The meal deal can be a good value, but in our case we didn't save really on the first night so just paid menu prices on the 2nd night. With the meal deal, our 2 drinks, one naan bread and chicken added to my Thai curry came to another £19. The food was very tasty. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Chicken Makhani curry! I do find the food a little pricey for what it is. The second night we just had 4 appetisers, one wine and a soda and that totaled £39. But, it is a hotel and the other options in the terminal really would cost twice as much and not taste half as good.

Each time we stay at Premier Inn at Gatwick's North Terminal, we have dinner in-house at Thyme Restaurant as it is far more convenient than going elsewhere or suffering the limited, bad-valued terminal food. This time we booked out dinner slot as soon as we checked-in. for 5pm. From experience, if you simply show up you can expect to be accommodated in the restaurant after 9pm as they are always crazy busy. We had a meal deal. We hadn't realised that kids eat free breakfast so it's better to just pay the menu price for kids' food. Our extras with drinks totaled another £30 but that was okay. The meal deal is something to seriously consider as £30 per person for a dinner may not be worth it if you don't ordinarily order 2 courses. We don't usually have an appetiser so it turned out to be not good value for us as our mainstay is usually a fish n' chips. The food was fine. But what stood out to us was the service. Mandalin, our server, was on-point and provided exceptional, attentive service! Thanks to him, our meal went from okay to amazing!
