The Notso Sunday Roast is well worth a try. 'Family' sharing platter was plentiful and excellent value. Classic sides support a trio of meats, all very well cooked and very tasty. We weren't surprised to hear that next week (and the last for 2024) is nearly sold out. If you are thinking about it, get booking, you won't be disappointed. Well done Charlie and Team, hope to see it return for November '25.

Lovely location, good parking and it’s a pub that manages so well to mix a really good quality restaurant, fairly smart, with a well-filled locals bar. A selection of good ales and occasional live music tops up this go to pub.

Three wonderful courses of great tasting food served in a quaint cottage located in the beautiful village of Funtington. Recommended by a friend, we headed here for a birthday treat and thoroughly enjoyed great food in a lovely atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming team; all visible throughout the evening and all ensuring we enjoyed both the food and evening as a whole. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I am one of four retired men who enjoy regular cross-country hikes. Last Thursday, we started and finished our latest 7-mile trek at the Coach & Horses in Compton, a small town (population 450 approx.), so we were pleasantly surprised to discover this highly civilised pub in the town square. The pub is carefully decorated and provides patrons with a modern setting that manages to create a traditional ambience. Needless to say, the pub offers a splendid selection of beverages. What does need to be said is that the pub also provides a short but appetising menu of simple but professionally crafted dishes. The food is really good. Three of us had cheeseburgers and another had fish and chips. I am fussy about burgers because, so often, they are little more than default options, but the Coach & Horses delivered freshly cooked and highly satisfying fare. Oh, and I'd recommend the apple pie! And, you won't be surprised to hear that the service is friendly and quietly efficient. Believe me, the Coach & Horses is a jewel in the West Sussex countryside.

A great location but sadly a very average experience. We went on a Wednesday night during half term and the menu was limited with none of the daily specials actually available but still on the board. I elected to go for the fish and chips and it was almost inedible, super dry and as if the fish had been reheated in an oven, the chips were terrible, dry and super crispy. My daughters had the chicken dippers and the chips had LOADS of salt on them. We were keen to stay for desserts but decided to skip it. I understand they have/had a new chef in so perhaps he was coming upto speed. Sadly I wouldn't return.

Never considered this for a pre-theatre supper venue before - but so glad we decided to give it a go! It was a rainy/windy evening and we didn't fancy traipsing around Chichester getting drenched & looking for an eaterie before our performance started. So we stopped at our mid-way point in the journey. Excellent food and service in convivial surroundings and free parking. We can recommend the Fox & Hounds signature club sandwich.....and we had serious food envy over some of the other dishes that were being delivered to neighbouring tables. We will definitely try to return.

Well, this wonderful, weee shop and tearoom is well and truly open and what a place it is. We popped in after a 6 mile walk starting and ending in Compton to take a look and couldnt resist the cakes in view. Rarely do you find a tea room or cafe that truly stands by its statment of 'home made' cakes. Delicious, moist and well portioned. And....as Maggie Smith, bless her, made clear...'tea should be served in a pre heated tea pot!' Well it was..... The shop also has a colourful and wide range of organic and locally made produce. well worth a stop on your adventures.

We came to Stansted Park for the day for the first time and visited the farm shop as part of our time. The farm shop is in an attractive new building with a spacious layout. There is no doubting that they stock a very wide range of quality produce which is to their credit. The shop includes a butchers and deli. BUT and it is a huge BUT, the prices are DESPERATELY HIGH across the range of merchandise. As just one example a standard 370g pot of jam is priced at £4.65. The upmarket Bonne Mamam jams at Waitrose are normally £3.65 and are all currently on offer at £2.85. The Waitrose "Finest" range standard price is £2.40. We did several other comparisons with similar markups. Normally we might spend £15-25 at a good farm shop but this time we spent nothing. Interesting that the shop was empty for the time that we were browsing, although they must have a fair sales volume to stay in business!! With a background in marketing I can't help wonder if more competitve pricing would yield higher sale voumes and higher profits?? So if you are tempted to buy at least bear in mind the "premium-plus-plus" pricing! We'll comment separately on the rest of the Stansted location.

I have just had the most terrible experience at this cafe. While I was drinking my coffee, I noticed that a woman at a nearby table had allowed her dogs to jump up onto the table where she was sitting and to remain there. I suggested, very politely, that it was not hygenic for the dogs to sit on a table where other customers would be consuming food. The response was verbal abuse, which I found very distressing. I reported the matter to the cafe manager who simply shrugged her shoulders, saying that since she had not seen the dogs sitting on the table she could not speak to the woman concerned and that the verbal abuse I had experienced was a personal matter between myself and the woman concerned. She said that she was not going to do anything about what had happened. Is this an acceptable response from a business that is concerned about food hygiene or one that is concerned for the safety and well being of its customers? I don't think so. I have been a regular customer until now, but I won't be returning.
