Three wonderful courses of great tasting food served in a quaint cottage located in the beautiful village of Funtington. Recommended by a friend, we headed here for a birthday treat and thoroughly enjoyed great food in a lovely atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming team; all visible throughout the evening and all ensuring we enjoyed both the food and evening as a whole. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I am one of four retired men who enjoy regular cross-country hikes. Last Thursday, we started and finished our latest 7-mile trek at the Coach & Horses in Compton, a small town (population 450 approx.), so we were pleasantly surprised to discover this highly civilised pub in the town square. The pub is carefully decorated and provides patrons with a modern setting that manages to create a traditional ambience. Needless to say, the pub offers a splendid selection of beverages. What does need to be said is that the pub also provides a short but appetising menu of simple but professionally crafted dishes. The food is really good. Three of us had cheeseburgers and another had fish and chips. I am fussy about burgers because, so often, they are little more than default options, but the Coach & Horses delivered freshly cooked and highly satisfying fare. Oh, and I'd recommend the apple pie! And, you won't be surprised to hear that the service is friendly and quietly efficient. Believe me, the Coach & Horses is a jewel in the West Sussex countryside.

Another great visit to the Richmond Arms Warm welcome and great food with service Shame it’s not a little more popular I order to generate atmosphere but at least the food is good and reasonably priced as well We will continue to visit at least!

Very disappointing food and aftercare. We managed to acquire a 2023 Christmas menu but the discrepency wasn't noticed till after we were back home. Hence we requested some dishes that weren't actually available. Two emails have been ignored and the pub seems happy to serve average meals. Two months is enough time for the pub to find out why the meal did not live up to expectations.

Well, this wonderful, weee shop and tearoom is well and truly open and what a place it is. We popped in after a 6 mile walk starting and ending in Compton to take a look and couldnt resist the cakes in view. Rarely do you find a tea room or cafe that truly stands by its statment of 'home made' cakes. Delicious, moist and well portioned. And....as Maggie Smith, bless her, made clear...'tea should be served in a pre heated tea pot!' Well it was..... The shop also has a colourful and wide range of organic and locally made produce. well worth a stop on your adventures.

We came to Stansted Park for the day for the first time and visited the farm shop as part of our time. The farm shop is in an attractive new building with a spacious layout. There is no doubting that they stock a very wide range of quality produce which is to their credit. The shop includes a butchers and deli. BUT and it is a huge BUT, the prices are DESPERATELY HIGH across the range of merchandise. As just one example a standard 370g pot of jam is priced at £4.65. The upmarket Bonne Mamam jams at Waitrose are normally £3.65 and are all currently on offer at £2.85. The Waitrose "Finest" range standard price is £2.40. We did several other comparisons with similar markups. Normally we might spend £15-25 at a good farm shop but this time we spent nothing. Interesting that the shop was empty for the time that we were browsing, although they must have a fair sales volume to stay in business!! With a background in marketing I can't help wonder if more competitve pricing would yield higher sale voumes and higher profits?? So if you are tempted to buy at least bear in mind the "premium-plus-plus" pricing! We'll comment separately on the rest of the Stansted location.

The restaurant is very overpriced. £7+ for a small panini. Bought a scone instead, which was tasty but would have been extra with cream and jam and the prices for a cream tea were not displayed. Not enough seating inside for dog owners. There is plenty in the outside areas, but too cold at this time of year I later went to the garden centre to get some plants and seed potatoes today. The houseplants were healthy, attractive and varied but very expensive. Around £15 for a 5 inch pot. I would have said those pits were worth nearer £9. The sign for the ssed potatoes said 'Fill a Bag' for the set price. I bought 4 bags and filled them to the top. The cashier claimed that I had too many in the bags and I started I had just filled them as instructed. She said I should be able to fold the tops of the bags over. This was not made clear on the signs when I was selecting my potatoes. I felt her tone was unnecessarily rude and accusatory. I spent nearly £100 in the shop and cafe and, by her tone, she seemingly aimed to make me feel uncomfortable and chastised as a customer. Puts me off going out of my way to spend my money here in future, which is a shame. The walks around here are lovely. Perhaps I will just bring my own food and hot drinks next time and shop elsewhere to spare myself the condemnatory attitude of the till lady.
