The best restaurants in North West

This is a cracking pub, a local that serves a great range of beers. Never had a bad pint and have also always enjoyed the food we’ve had. Salt and pepper chips are wonderful. If you like choice, good beer, food are dog friendly and like a convivial atmosphere then it’s not a bad place to be!

After originally prebooking an afternoon tea in November, to travel to Liverpool and turn up to find the restaurant shut, we had rebooked in December following the Manager calling to be extremely apologetic. I wish we hadn't - from the minute we walked in we had 0 service (and the place was basically empty). After waiting 45 minutes, our savoury part of the afternoon tea came. We then waited another 20 minutes and I grabbed the man to ask where the desserts were, he said sorry I will go ask them to do them - so god knows what would have happened if I hadn't asked. After waiting another twenty minutes I asked the man again where the rest of the food was, so he said he would go ask, and once again, never returned. In the end we went up to the bar to say we were leaving and to forget the rest of the afternoon tea, and without even looking at us, the waiter just said don't worry about paying just leave. We would never have paid for such an awful experience, but to have no apology - particularly after giving them a second chance!!! Do not waste your money - a big establishment like this should be ashamed of that type of service. Definitely a dying bar

Fantastic to see the Golden Lion open again and serving food at weekends. They were doing a roaring trade and there was a fabulous atmosphere. Had a great Sunday roast dinner. Will definitely be back to work through the extensive pie menu and have more yummy sticky toffee pudding (sorry no photo - ate it too fast)

Based on a corner with the entrance on the A6, it can be easy to miss the entrance due to the proximity of the traffic lights on the A6. However, once entered, there is a small car park with the exit away from the main road. The business is exactly what you would expect from this chain.

Booked a last min table for a birthday celebration. Food was absolutely lovely and the prices were reasonable for what you got portion wise. We had two starters, a child’s meal 2 main meals and a bottle of wine and it came to £85- ignore the other reviews about being over priced ! Would deffo recommend ! 10/10 thank you

We went to the restaurant on Sunday evening whilst staying in the village! We decided to try some new dishes with the expert advice from the wait. I had the Kathmandu curry, which was incredible. Reasonably priced as well. The waiter was very knowledgeable. The service was excellent and the food Was amazing. We would definitely return when we are in the area next time. Thank you for a lovely experience.

I went with a party of 12 at lunch time. The staff were lovely and food came quickly. Garlic bread between us. This was nice. Then starters. I had the pate. It was ok. Then for mains I had the risotto. It’s was extremely salty and I couldn’t eat it. The price was ok. We used the lunchtime menu. And it was set prices. £20 per person for 2 courses. I wouldn’t rush back though

Fantastic peaceful atmosphere , family friendly. Great interior. The food was 10/10. Enjoyed every bite. Ash was very hospitable.

The worst chippy I’ve been to, microwaved pies, dry chips and peas look like they had been regurgitated. Never going again. If I could give zero I would.

We were a party of 12 that ended up as 14 on the night. Forum did everything they could to accommodate us. The food and service were fabulous. Thank you so much for all your efforts, it was very much appreciated.

What a beautiful hotel and we will be back again for sure. Pip hosted us for the 2 nights pretty much and made the whole experience very special. David and Charlie were also very accommodating and nothing we asked was ever too much. Haweswater you have a beautiful location, incredible interior, delicious food and wonderful staff throughout. Excellent food. One of the best pub restaurants in the area imo. Good, friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere. Reasonable prices.

Best value meals in cleveleys. Where else can you get nice meals at a cost of £11.99 for 2 people. Plus nice friendly staff . Good choices and big car park. All our family went for Christmas dinner and all courses were excellent. Table decorations were lovely so well done to all staff at the golden eagle

Perfection! Beautiful restaurant, amazing food and lovely service. Highly recommend! The best Featherblade of Beef I’ve ever had.
