I've only lived in the North West for 2yrs and in that time I've completely fallen in love with Mowgli's (Water St). I genuinely didn't think it was possible to find a restaurant to top it. However after visiting both Liverpool and Heswall Barton Rouge restaurants I've been blown away by the quality of service & food. I would not hesitate to recommend Barton Rouge to anyone and cannot wait to return. Thanks to all the staff at Heswall for helping me embarrass my uncle Shaun on his birthday tonight 🥳 🎂 🥮

Called in for a pint and to watch the footie. Busy and friendly, lovely bar staff, very attentive. Good pints and decent prices, served with a freindly smile. Would definitely return..... JD☘️

Chicken tikka Pathia. Not impressed when I ordered in person an hour prior to collection and they had no knowledge of my order so they rushed it through. When I got home the food was spicy hot but lacking in any Indian flavours. It resembled spicy rice and tomatoes. i had to throw it back in a pan and recook it with the flavours it should have had. Still became pet food the next day.

Had Sunday lunch at this Restaurant. Staff and the service were faultless. The meal was disappointing and over priced to say the least. I don't object to paying for good food this was £28 each for two courses, we had Main course and desert. The Main course was beef, it was a suitable portion size for a child not an adult. Don't go if your hungry, the desert was very tasty. We had two two course dinners and one soft drink Lime and Soda each. The bill was £80. Should have checked the items before I paid and checked later. That places the soft drinks at £12 each. Lovely premises but wont go again.

Thought that we’d treat ourselves to a drink and lunchtime snack after walking around the town. My wife’s had suggested calling in at ‘Costa’ but I suggested that we give ‘Linghams cafe’ another try as we like to support independent local businesses and have enjoyed drinks there when we first moved to Heswall. When entering the cafe section, I spotted a small ‘Soup of the day’ blackboard but, annoyingly, the type of soup available had been rubbed off. I was kindly informed that it was vegetable so I ordered some together with a tea ‘with the bag left out’. My wife had an ‘Americano’ with hot milk and a cheese and ham toasty. When I received my soup, it seemed as though I had been transported back to 1967 as it was clearly a packet vegetable soup of the gloopy green kind. A couple of crudely chopped pieces of carrot and green beans had been added to ‘jazz it up’ but it didn’t work. I only ate a few spoonfuls - it did not get any better! The tea arrived as requested with a bag on the side but, bizarrely, the tea pot already had weak tea in it. My wife’s meal was okay - the cheese was not completely melted in her toasty and only a tiny amount of hot milk accompanied her large cup of coffee. We could hear that people on a neighbouring table also had issues as their soups were cold and someone at the table had to change their original toasty order as the kitchen had run out of ham. (It was early lunchtime. We had visited the cafe on a previous occasion and also had cold soups brought out to us but they were, at least, homemade and we just put it down to a ‘one off’ or new staff. I’d taken a friend for a coffee there in December at 9.30 in the morning just as it was opening but we had to move on elsewhere as the place was still freezing. The heating should be programmed to come on and coincide with the opening times. The staff in the cafe are friendly but the owners must ensure that their workers are better trained, radically improve their customer focus, prepare appetising and better quality food that people enjoy as well as keep ample stock of key ingredients. If they don’t, there are so many other great coffee shops and cafes in Heswall and people will vote with their feet. Visiting this cafe three years ago used to be a pleasant and quite ‘special’ experience (pieces of delicious local fudge accompanied our hot drinks) but this has now gone, and, very sadly, the overall service has deteriorated.

Lovely spot close to Wirral Way & beach walks. Would be lovely to see some more interesting displays in the seating area - (think Mimosa Cafe in Eastham Woods) & prices a little bit expensive but not overly so. Didn't detract from me enjoying the food & drink. Also friendly, polite, quick service.
