Tried Paolos after seeing very good reviews and can definitely recommend. Prosciutto pizza, BBQ pizza and children's carbonara were all delicious. Freshly made, great sizes and full of flavour. The atmosphere while dining in was lovely too. Thank you, can't wait to visit again !

It feels like this restaurant is about to go into administration, with no wine menus, young inexperienced waitress said there’s only 2 to wines to chose from, no idea of prices, display dessert fridge empty. Only taking cash or bank transfer. Dessert was like a cheap Aldi heat up. Hurrying people to leave as they were closing at 9pm on a Saturday. Olives were lovely, pizza was fine, everything else was just average/poor. We ordered a bottle of water with the wine, a small bottle was brought to the table as they don’t have large bottles so we asked for 2 more bottles. Bill stated 3 waters £14.85 which irked me because if they’d have had the normal large bottle we’d have just had that. Left feeling underwhelmed and overcharged. £130 bill for 3 people, you’d pay that anywhere in Heswall and probably feel more satisfied. Hate to leave this review but that’s the truth of it.

By far the best pizza locally, and fantastic olives too! Very friendly staff, speedy service. Limited wine offer but all reasonably priced. A hidden gem. Will return.

The food is fantastic, pizzas are superb. The last time I went I had the arrabiatta pasta dish which was beautiful. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.

I came last week and had Meatballs, garlic bread and finished with the dough sticks with Nutella! The food was absolutely fantastic! By far my favourite restaurant!

Amazing Pizza! We travelled an hour to go an eat here at a friends recommendation and it didn’t disappoint! So lovely authentic Italian restaurant. We will be back again, looking forward to trying other things on the menu. Also the deals they have on make it worth dining out and travelling to get there.

I collected a takeaway order last night- staff accommodated my topping request with no problems. Pizza was piping hot still when I got it home. Much better than usual takeaway pizzas! Also treated myself to a slice of honeycomb cheese cake and it was AMAZING! Staff really friendly- I’ll be bringing my family here very soon. 10/10!

Cold food.beer was warm,waiting staff need training..they seemed more interested in take away food than seated customers...we had all either eaten or rejected the food before the last food order arrived.

Where do I start, the meal was a disgrace my Calzon Funghi Pizza was a disgusting chard empty mess that was sent back, my wife's Funghi Pizza although enabled had no mushrooms on it, and not hot. My mates Carbonara was cold, send back and returned cold, sent back again and returned a congealed microwaved unedable mess. Another member of the group waited 45 minutes for her pizza, they seemed to be concentrating on pizza delivery rather than the people in the restaurant, I would be surprised if this restaurant is still open by the end of the year. This is without question the worst experience I have ever had when eating out,

I had a lovely time here with the family. The pizza's are traditional Italian style and tasted amazing. The children ate free on a special promotion and really enjoyed their pizza's too. The staff were really friendly and were great with children, allowing them to watch their pizzas being made in the kitchen. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely fantastic extra cheese Pizza with Garlic oil!

Excellent food, highly recommend!

Following recommendation i ordered and collected 5 pizzas, including vegetarian and gluten free. All good quality and in biodegradable boxes. My only disappointment was not receiving the discount (for collection orders £50+. i had planned to order 9 next time, but this is a bit expensive for a grandparent!

Great place to go we have a nice evening with the family. Definitely be back!

The best authentic Italian pizza around!

Food was almost 2 hours late. Cold and after paying extra for more toppings they where never put on.

We had a great time celebrating our sons 13th birthday- Jess was so great with the boys and everyone had a great time. garlic bread and pizzas were excellent, and the restaurant was very cosy and inviting. We will definitely return again as a family.

This is the 2nd time we have ordered for delivery - 1st time kept having messages that delivery was delayed and eventually was cancelled by restaurant with no reason. Thought we would give the benefit of the doubt as have previously enjoyed dining in however for this order food was delayed, arrived 30 mins after leaving the restaurant so was not warm on arrival. Paid extra for extra toppings on both items and neither had them. Unfortunately will not be ordering again.

The wrong pizza was delivered - Margarita arrived not the prosciutto and rocket ordered. I called to let them know but said not to worry about a new pizza, I’d eat the margarita. Not sure they were going to offer a new pizza - asked me to contact Just Eat. Pizza was nice though…if not what I ordered. Tiramisu delicious.

Food was lovely but service left a lot to be desired! No drinks menu No cutlery No atmosphere Food was lovely. If a few basics were tweaked it could be so much better!

Great pizza.....like really Great Pizza

This was not a great experience ! We were squashed onto a window table ,where the trim above wall ,at eye level was dirty .I ordered penne Carbonarra, which ,upon arrival was spaghetti. Nothing was said ! The meal was cold ,so I was unable to eat it.My husband had a pizza, which he finished as was hot and tasty ,despite its arrival prior to my eating .When the young waitress enquired re my meal ,the manager ,despite being in the room ,left her to deal with our complaint .We felt this was really poor on his part .We told her we wouldn't pay for my meal. We were offered a free desert ,which I declined .Even upon paying the bill we weren't approached by the manager to apologise. All in all ,a poor experience we wouldn't recommend to family and friends .Given ,so many nice places to eat in Heswall, you'd expect ,when mistakes occur,service to be good .

We’ve dined here many times and last night we thoroughly enjoyed our pizzas. The nduja sausage and mozerella bake is an excellent starter. House red montepulciano was a good companion too. Simple, relaxed restaurant with lovely people and dog friendly too (check availability when booking). Until the next time. No photos - enjoying the food too much.

Been coming to Paolos for years and have never been disappointed. Unfortunately, this time, we were. Ordered 2 pizzas (Diavola and Prosciutto and Rocket), both were incredibly dry. The Prosciutto and Rocket arrived with no prosciutto or rocket (just a completely plain pizza). Ordered for 7:30 and arrived much earlier (which is OK, but pizzas were also cold by the time we could all eat together, hence ordering for a specific time). Very overpriced for pizzas that were not what we ordered, and were not enjoyable. Really disappointing. Unsure what has happened to this place, but we hope they find their spark again!

Excellent. Pizza fantastic, small cozy atmosphere, good service. Prices very reasonable. Will be going back. Had tried place in Parkgate, but was left waiting for 45 minutes whilst they concentrated on Just Eat orders. Not so here. Can’t recommend enough.

We had to wait longer than initially advised, which was frustrating, but it was well worth the wait!

Took my 2 kids and partner to Paolo's last Friday, been meaning to go for months after friend's recommendations, but never got round to it. And I was not disappointed. Lovely little restaurant with a great atmosphere, Italian music playing when you walk in. I was greeted by the manager and shown to my table where italian colouring sheets were given to our kids. Our drinks arrived immediately from a very friendly waitress. Our order was taken and we received our pizzas within 15 minutes despite what looked to be a very busy night. Our pizzas were very big and beautifully cooked. And the kids meals were ridiculously good value for money. All in all we were very happy and will be booking again for my son's birthday!

Went to Paolo's for takeaway. Pizzas were much smaller and poor quality compared to previous visits.

Hmmmm somethings changed…. Minuscule toppings, slivers rather than pieces, a teaspoon of side salad on top of French stick! smaller pizza size….taste still overall good though… disappointed this time….

My friend recommended we visit because they were doing a halfprice pizzas deal until the end of January, so I thought why not give it a try. The ambience is nice in there. Nice Italian music and dimmed lighting. It’s quite a small cosy venue and it was busy that night. Understandably we had to wait about 20 minutes before they even took our drinks order because they were running around trying to serve everybody else and make up tables that had been finished with. My son and I shared an anti-pasti mixed meats, olives, mozzarella, mini garlic bread, which was quite nice. I had a Mediterranean pizza and my son had a margarita pizza. To be honest with you they were quite disappointing - they weren’t very big and the vegetables on my pizza were quite underdone to the point where the onion was virtually raw. I like el dente vegetables but these were a little bit too under done. My son found his pizza mediocre in flavour. Both pizzas were just average. They weren’t bad but we didn’t come out feeling satisfied to be honest with the whole experience. I think they need change how they make the pizzas, improve the size and flavour. Anyway, it was half price so I can’t complain but I don’t think I would go back and pay the full price & go next time.

Lovely home made proper pizza just such a shame it was freezing cold when it arrived 😪 I was absolutly gutted, didnt seem to be in a heat bag when it arrived at my door, just handed over straight in the box. Such a shame as if it were hot it would have been spot on

Been to Paolo’s to eat in many times and never been disappointed with the food so thought I would try the delivery. Sadly I was disappointed, the pizza’s were both dry and missing cheese in places. The four cheese I have had previously was nothing like the one I received and was burnt in places. Delivery time was early and the delivery driver was very polite

Food was excellent. I'd decided to give Paolo's a try as I'd not noticed them before and I'm glad I did. The pizza was amazing, with fantastic dough and the sides were equally great. Will definitely be ordering again!

Absolutely disappointing and disgusting. £30 wasted. Chips in a silver foil tin nearly all burnt. Pizza 4 cheese soggy not cooked all I was chewing was cooked flour. 2 extra topping, 3 pieces of pineapple a a few mushroom slices. Calzone apparently was nice so plus point. Tried phoning 5 mins after delivery to no answer.

My robitonno had no tuna on and my husbands diavolo had no chilli on. Disappointed toppings were missed but the pizzas were still extremely tasty. I'd still give paolo's another try

Greasy food went straight in the bin

We have been customers of Paolo's since the first few days it opened in Heswall, when I first left a 5-star review on Trip Advisor, and have supported and raved about it to friends all these years. We have enjoyed many a lovely meal in the restaurant, and been unable to fault the food or the staff. A few years ago we enjoyed home delivery from Paolo's, and were delighted when it appeared again on Just Eat. Too tired after a busy day to cook or go out to eat, we ordered and waited for our favourite pizzas to arrive. Then, after waiting over our delivery window, we received a text to say that our order was cancelled. Oh well, pity to let a good wine go to waste. We won't bother you with our custom again.

The pizzas were not hot. We live less than five minutes away.

Had a very enjoyable meal with friends here last night. The food and service were excellent and we were well looked after by the new manager Ross. We will definitely be returning!

If you want a lesson as to how to ruin a great little local restaurant take a trip here Paulo’s was a hidden gem of Heswall. Great food. Great staff, great vibe. The new owners have all but destroyed this. The staff worked so hard to make the most of a bad deal. Pizza’s are now made with sub standard ingredients, thick chewy overcooked bases and toppings that appear to be from a jar or tin. Thank you to the staff Ross & Hugo for trying your best but frankly if the new owners don’t intervene soon they will lose so many of the regular customers who like us have enjoyed Paulo’s for many years

Pizzas very good but I paid extra to have tuna, red onions and mushrooms on mine, you needed a search party to find the toppings 3 mushy mushrooms funny taste thought they were tinned yuk,no red onion at all and little tiny bits of tasteless tuna. Waited for ever for a our drinks very slow service, expensive starters.

We are regular visitors and know that new owners have taken over. Suggestions for the management 1. Can we have the Italian music back please as it was a big part of the ambiance. 2. Can you offer different size pizza, such as the original 14 inch even if the price is higher Otherwise still a favourite with us

We had a disappointing visit about a month ago but thought we would try again last night and had another very disappointing visit for a family bithday The table we booked was not ready when we arrived, there were empty tables that had not been cleared. After 15 minutes we were seated, took ages for orders to be taken. There was not enough staff. The menu has changed and favourites removed. When the pizza arrived some were missing ingredients and the toppings did not seem fresh. Some of the pizzas were burnt. Our bill was amended but overall we are very sad Paolos has changed so much and sadly we wont be back.

We have been to Paolos a lot and have always had a great meal but having visited yesterday we were disappointed. The menu has changed and some of our favourites have been removed in particular the dough sticks which the kids love. The wine is now limited in choice and poor quality. I ordered the speck fontina which normally has a cream base but this time was just a small bit of cheese and ham on garlic pizza bread. There was only one member of staff serving who was working really hard but there really should have been two or more. Such a shame as it was great before but I think the new owners need to iron out the teething issues

One of the best Pizza's I've ever had comes close with some of the Pizza's I've had in Italy. Get yourself to Paolos you won't regret it

Sadly the pizzas where burnt. Fair enough after the bill was brought out they offered us 10% off but sadly we had to complain first!

Regular diner for years here, usually takeaways. Generally good, sometimes amazing, sometimes overdone bases. Collected the pizza today and told that they’ve shrunk the pizzas from 14 to 12 inches for the same cost. the pizza is now about 11 inches in reality. Apparently the new owners have made the call. Please change it back or you will lose customers.

High quality pizza and well flavoured Italian food made with care. Quick service provided by very friendly, competent staff and a pleasant atmosphere overall. Would go as far to say it's the best choice for an eaterie in the Heswall area and certainly the best pizza I have had to date. Edit: Was 5 stars for me but I'm assuming due to recent staff changes/issues the quality has dropped, disappointed since this used to be my go to for pizza.

I can’t fault this delightful little Restaurant. The staff are absolutely lovely. Service is attentive, professional and very friendly. The food is delicious too. I highly recommend this eatery.

We passed Paolo's earlier in the week and thought how lovely it looked. We visited tonight. The restaurant itself is very inviting and has bucketloads of ambience. The food is sadly mediocre. We were informed swiftly that there was no mushrooms, artichokes or rocket tonight....

We were so excited to try this place. Staff friendly but very young and not attentive you had to ask for cheese / salt and they did one and walked off we had to get there attention again and say can we all have cheese please. My husbands meal was forgotten the other 4 of us had finished our food by the time his arrived. My pudding was brought over the waitress hadn’t noticed it was stuck to her top and then coffee at the end of the meal served in a big mug. Super disappointed wouldn’t return at all.

Brilliant takeaway service. Staff were so cheerful and welcoming. Best pizza on the Wirral - on par with those in Italy. We were very impressed with the range of vegetarian pizzas too - not just the simple “bung every veg we have on it without a thought”. We had the Quattro Formaggi and the Mediterranea. So pleased to have a good pizza place near us!
