Delicious food and great service. Had a fantastic night and can't wait to return to try more of the tasty offerings. The best 'old fashioned ' cocktail aswell!!

Called in here for the first time today,couldn't fault anything. I highly recommend this place.

It's quite a nice place, but I've been to far nicer places. Staff weren't the most friendly, and ordering food&drink seemed to be an inconvenience (which they got wrong too). I wouldn't go back here.

Welcoming from the start due to the lovely waitresses. Jade was one of them (sorry, didn't get name of other lady). Such comfortable leather dining chairs. Small but perfectly formed menu, great wine list which was very much off the beaten track. Had a glorious meal. Ate fat too much but wanted lots of things! Will definitely return. Thank you, chef!

Really lovely food cooked to perfection. Friendly waiter who happily our questions about the small plate menu and went to the chefs to find out what he wasn’t 100% sure of. Equally friendly and helpful waitress took over after 6pm. Small plate menu is amazing quality and value.Best restaurant in Heswall by a mile.

Nice place, but.... There is a manager working in that place who falsely accuse her co-workers in a sexual assault. Her name is Maya Gilbert and there is a good video in YouTube about it called: Manifest restaurant false accusation of a sexual harassment. 👍

I can highly recommend the Burnt Truffle, the food was BEAUTIFUL especially the salmon and amazing potatoes, from the moment we walked in we had the perfect service, welcoming and friendly, looking forward to my next visit.

I would recommend this restaurant unreservedly for their consistently excellent food and service. It is not just an ordinary eatery but an experience of taking simple dishes and elevating them to another level. The prices are remarkably reasonable for their standard. I have eaten there many times and cannot fault them. Would also like to mention James who is most professional but manages the balance with friendliness and an ability to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. If you enjoy dining and have a discerning pallet this restaurant is one not to be missed.

A good 3 course Sunday lunch, and for the quality, I would suggest quite reasonably priced. This small tasteful bistro has a good selection of wines by the glass. It’s part of a group of restaurants, which have expanded slowly in the north west region, but without comprising the end product. Not an easy task. The fish soup for staters was deep and rich. The lamb rump to follow was cooked to perfection, with the best mint gravy I’ve ever tasted on a roast. My wife had the beef (served rare) and Yorkshire pudding, which also had the meat juices added to the delicious gravy. The crème brûlée for dessert wasn’t too sweet. It had the right balance of fresh vanilla pods added, and a bitter caramelised glaze that cracked under the spoon. A faultless and relaxed Sunday lunch which was served with just the right amount of attention.

Great atmosphere and staff is so friendly. The food is comforting and full of flavours, you just want more and more! Great variety of drinks, specially wines. I've eaten here twice and will definitely be coming back.

Our first time here certainly won’t be our last . The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and professional. A highlight of dinner was the crispy carrot cakes with pickled shallots and sesame cream - absolutely stunning! The feather blade of beef was so tender and rich a complete triumph- very highly recommended

We popped in, had an early tea, used the Bistro Menu which was inexpensive. The food was very tasty and i thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Fabulous food shame about the service. Front of house is a two half affair, Kate is outstanding however the other half of the pair can only be described as rude, impatient and lacks any ability to deal with the public, and unfortunately appears to be the 'senior'. The food was slammed down in front of us, and was rushed, despite asking for a break between courses. The food has flair and is good quality and some great presentation, however the place is let down massively by the front of house.

The dishes we ordered were good. The sharing steak was cooked to perfection, but the meat wasn’t the tastiest. We still enjoyed it however. The truffle and Parmesan chips were out of this world. We both thoroughly enjoyed those. Service was attentive and personable, the waitress was friendly in her interactions. We did overhear them saying there are usually more staff on a busy Friday night, but we found the service good enough with just the two of them. Atmosphere wise, without other diners in the room (we sat downstairs), there isn’t much of a vibe. I’d recommend requesting sitting downstairs (it’s very small) as you get somewhat of an ambience from the sounds and delights of the kitchen. It’s our first visit here and we weren’t expecting to literally be sat in what felt like a living room of a house. For the price (3 courses + wine was around £180 with service charge for 2 people), we were expecting something a bit more upscale inside. Nevertheless, we’d return at some point, but I don’t think it will be our go to restaurant for a nice meal.

This was our first visit to Burnt Truffle and we were not disappointed. We were warmly greeted by the new manageress who then served us with charm and efficiency. One of us had the special 3 courses for £20 menu which is available at lunchtime and early evening some nights. There was a choice of 2 per each course which represented excellent value for money. We chose olive and tomato arancini, rigatoni ragu and lemon panna cotta and they were all superb. Not huge portions but perfect for lunchtime! From the a la carte menu we started with fish soup with charred sourdough which was French style and delicious, followed by a beautiful confit duck with great accompaniments and finished with their large creme brulee which is mentioned in these reviews. These 3 courses cost £40 so not "cheap" but for this standard of cooking it's still great value. Highly recommended!

From start to finish, our visit was fantastic. Greeted warmly, shown to our table promptly with menus, food brought over at the perfect time at the right temperature, everything we tasted was exquisite. All 4 of us enjoyed our visit, having the turkey with accompaniments, plaice, and Christmas pudding (loaded with delicious fruits and brandy!). Pretty good wine list too. I could eat the entire meal again.

This was our second occasion at the Burn Truffle. As the first time the food was excellent and the staff awesome. we had a late seating but never felt rushed even when we were amongst the last to leave. I would like to say a big thank you to the team here and next time we are in Heswall we will be in your place again.

An amazing place. The best restaurant on The Wirral.

Early evening Friday, could be bothered cooking. We both had the lamb arancini special and the chicken schnitzel. It was all excellent, as usual! The chef is brilliant at the mo, looking forward to seeing the new menu next week and our various christmas things we've got booked in. I was delighted to see Josie making a guest appearance. Am always amazed at the familiar faces that turn up at Gary's restaurants.

Food beautifully done, chefs at ease with what they do. Staff went above and beyond when my table requested an "off menu cocktail" white Russians, very friendly waitress said give me a minute ill check if we have the ingredients, caught them sneaking back from shop with everything needed for white Russian. Would recommend every time. Beautiful.

Perfect birthday meal for my mother in law, super food and offer 2 course or 3 course options. Tracy served us and went above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, perfectly served and tasted delicious. My favourite as always - the HUGE creme brûlée. Will be back to celebrate more family occasions.

Absolutely amazing Sunday! I’m coeliac so naturally quite cautious coming out for food. Our waitress Kate was so accommodating and delightful letting me know about the allergens and being very reassuring, totally lush - the kitchen made me truffle fries (which were amazing) despite not being on the menu for Sunday, the man who I assume was the manager was very charismatic and attentive too. Overall fabulous experience really recommend and am looking forward to returning!

If you haven't tried this restaurant your missing out. Heswall is full of places to eat but this is far the best within Heswall for food and service. Each dish is paired with wine to compliment your food. Very knowledgeable manager on his recommendations of wine and food. Will definitely be returning very soon. The Bistro lunch deal is extremely good value for money. £15 for two courses.

My husband and I had the most amazing meal at Burnt truffle. We started with the fish soup and then shared the aged sirloin which came with peppercorn sauce, the best Parmesan chips I have ever tasted and delicious carrots. We ordered a side of broccoli too which was cooked to perfection. We finished with a chessboard and the honeycomb ice cream. Every element of the meal was cooked perfectly and was so tasty. I am not a great meat eater but the sirloin was delicious. I have not tasted food as good. The staff were attentive, pleasant and helpful. There was a new manager who ensured our evening went to plan, he checked in on us and was really a pleasure to speak to. I could not recommend this place highly enough. We will be back! Thank you Burnt Truffle. It was a great all round experience.

Beautiful quaint Bistro. Super friendly and attentive service. Food tasted amazing. The mushroom stuffed cabbage was stand out for me. As a vegetarian I thought they had a great selection on the menu. Would come back if I pass through here again. Thank you to the wonderful team @ burnt truffle!

Sadly, on our last visit we felt put down by the obnoxious female server who was unbelievably arrogant. Obviously our custom was not valued, despite spending a considerable amount. We were so annoyed we’ve not returned and don’t know if we ever will. Very sad as it IS the best restaurant in Heswall for food and we loved it there. Attitude IS everything. Remember that. I’ve thought long and hard about posting this. The restaurant is often empty so have a think about it.

The best place to eat in West Wirral by a long shot. The children's menu was absolutely fantastic value, and the quality of everything served consistently excellent. We sat outside to save other customers from sitting near our young children, but the food and service was so good that we were all as good as gold!

My mother was taken out here for a treat and returned home with food poisoning, never seen anything like it. Checked up on this place to discover it was in trouble for bad hygiene standards, never again. Don’t touch it with a barge pole. Disgusting.

We had a voucher and gave it a go Food was ok but husband s desert disappointing Service was good but we were the only people there!!!! Left a tip only to discover a£6:50 service charge when i got home!!! Please don't buy us another voucher 😒

Never had a bad meal here. You definitely get what you pay for. It's quality and not too expensive. One of the only places in the Wirral that actually have accolades two rosettes I believe. Go try it out! You won't be disappointed.

The restaurant looked after our party of ten extremely well. Great food and service! The staff were very thoughtful and helpful. And we felt able to stay and chat for as long as we wanted. A definite hit with us all!

This was our first visit for my birthday. It's a lovely stone cottage on Heswall main street, yet set back off the road. There are outside tables too, though, for when the weather is nice. The staff were welcoming and helpful and we could see the chefs in action and all was calm and clean in there. The food was well presented, different and very tasty. The portions were a nice size - not too big, which I can't stand. I want to enjoy, not gorge.

Nice atmosphere, nice food, nice staff. Overall it was NICE! And that isn't any kind of sly dig we, couple of friends and my wife, all liked it. Menu isn't as extensive as I would like, but what was on it was well cooked and presented and tasted good. What higher praise is there for a restaurant. Flip side - expensive, but these days...ok. Minor niggle is the lack of linen. This place presents itself as a bistro but the feel is more gastro pub. Throw on some table cloths and the quality of the establishment goes up, noise levels go down though. I understand there is a cost implication for laundry but worth avoiding "sticky table" syndrome I think. At the end of the day, thumbs up and we'll return another day.

A really average meal unfortunately. Starters were really good but mains below average. Cod was far too salty, plaice was over cooked. Wine menu needs to be more inventive and game upped across the board. Staff were lovely as ever.

Well worth the journey, we often come from Liverpool and have Sunday lunch here. The staff are amazing, friendly and efficient. The menu changes seasonally, all courses were delicious. Good wine selection and restaurant atmosphere warm with good music.

We enjoyed a lovely evening here last night we had a 3 course meal the food we ate was stunning and full of flavour we usually go to the same restaurant all the time when we visit heswall however we decided to step out of our comfort zone and try here, we will definitley be coming back, staff where lovely and friendly without being overbearing. Updated: 21/09/22 We recently returned to the Burnt Truffle for my 50th, just the two of us. I have to say this is by far the best restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of eating at. The food is so tasty, you just never want it to end. Who would have thought a potato terrine and lamb crackling would rock my world, almost cried it was so good. The service is also some of the best around, attention to detail, attentive with out being over bearing, just good quality all round. 19/09/2020 Our first visit, and I have to say outstanding. Service, food and wine hit the mark on very point. We really enjoyed our meals, and will be back again ASAP. Gary and the team at the Burnt Truffle understand and appreciate what texture, balance and flavour means when it comes to their food. All this delivered with passion and professionalism.

We visited the burnt truffle on a Sunday, after searching for a good Sunday lunch on the Wirral and seeing this place mentioned numerous times. It is only a small place, I think around 8 tables but this gave it a really cosy atmosphere and...

Sat at an outside table on a sunny Friday lunchtime. Great staff, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. Excellent with regards providing gluten-free options, very good menu in this respect. We went with the 3 course full bistro menu. The food was immense, excellent quality and the flavours were outstanding! Highlight was the main course of featherblade of beef which was absolutely incredible, the texture and flavour was out of this world. Some lovely touches at start and end of meal with some little extras. Did briefly consider giving four stars as overall quite expensive on first sight. However, you do get what you pay for and this was worth every single penny. Congratulations Burnt Truffle.

We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Burnt Truffle. The staff and atmosphere is very welcoming and the food was excellent. Burnt Truffle has a great variety of pairing wines for each course. Look forward to visiting again in the near future.

We had a very nice experience at this bistro. Service was attentive and lively. Food was memorable and delicious. My dining companions had Vegetarian options while I chose the Roast Beef dinner.

Just the best restaurant lunch time meal we’ve had for ages and even with a couple of extra side dishes it was brilliant value, especially taking into account how much the cost of everything had risen recently. Can only say a big thank you to todays chefs and waitress - I know they are paid to do what they do but their work and the effort they must have put in to producing and serving such quality food was much appreciated

Ridiculously overpriced for the quality of the food. I had high expectations and it fell well below the bar unfortunately. At this price range I expect elevated flavours but the meal was bland and the parmesan and truffle chips tasted like old fat/grease. We had the two course evening menu (salt and pepper squid, duck potato cake and beef featherblade). We were going to have pudding but decided against as the main wasn't good. The interior also doesnt match the price of the food, looks a bit cheap and no atmosphere. There are other restaurants on the Wirral doing this type of dining experience to a much better standard, from interior to food and price.

We visited Burnt Truffle to celebrate a family member's 60th birthday. Each of our party travelled 70+ miles as this was a central meeting point and really didn't disappoint. We ate from the Sunday menu and I had roast beef which was just incredible. There were children in our party who all ate well, their meals looked amazing especially the fish goujons with huge pieces of battered fish and a great portion of chunky chips. There were some delicious wine recommendations, and we also ordered the birthday cake which was fantastic and available for us to take home as we were all so full. Final shout out to the incredible staff who are knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful. Can't recommend Burnt Truffle enough and will definitely be back!
