I've only lived in the North West for 2yrs and in that time I've completely fallen in love with Mowgli's (Water St). I genuinely didn't think it was possible to find a restaurant to top it. However after visiting both Liverpool and Heswall Barton Rouge restaurants I've been blown away by the quality of service & food. I would not hesitate to recommend Barton Rouge to anyone and cannot wait to return. Thanks to all the staff at Heswall for helping me embarrass my uncle Shaun on his birthday tonight 🥳 🎂 🥮

Wasn't going to write a review but since Google asked me for one. Here it is. Service was outstanding, the guys there are so attentive but restaurant was empty apart from 2 - 3 tables right in the window to make it 'look busy' Food was really good, lots of choice and we all enjoyed our meals... However that's where that ended. An hour or so after leaving the restaurant, none of us felt particularly well, bloated and most of the party ended up feeling unwell/having bowel 'issues' through the night/following day. If it was just one person I'd put it down to chance, but we all shared starters but had diff mains. Not sure our curry club will be in a hurry to revisit after this.

We went for my daughters 18th Birthday and at the end of the meal they brought out a cake and sang Happy Birthday was such a lovely touch. Excellent service and food will definitely be going back.

Confession....I am a regular custommer, but that speaks volumes of how good this restaurant and its staff are. Recently introduced a special menu to compliment the standard. Very impressed by the friendly, knowledgable waiters and the high quality of the food that they uuse.

I've never been compelled to write a review before, but this place deserves one. I've never had so much meat in a curry before, fantastic value. Great taste. 3 onion bajhi, instead of the usual 2. Best curry I've had. Only 4 stars for atmosphere as it's early , so a bit quiet.

Was quite busy and good atmosphere. Food a bit slow to come out but worth the wait. Huge bread was brilliant touch.

As soon as we arrived we were asked..." drinks and poppadoms" yes please. That's when it all massively went down hill. We had to wait for some weird season to order our mains. After asking 5 times " can we please order now" they just kept on saying 'yes" and pointing to another part of the room. I just couldn't understand why they kept on walking past looking at us. Finally when the food arrived it was under cooked and warm. My main was border line cool. This has most certainly gone down hill. It use to be a lovely curry place. The final insult was when the bill arrived. I had to ask the waiter to please come back after I had fully checked the bill. He was actually standing over us while I was checking. It felt quite intimidating.

Ths food was nice average portions, enough for me but not for hubby! Waiters were lovely. Thought it was expensive for what we had.

We were really looking forward to our visit here for my Birthday as had seen previous reviews re the restaurant. Arrived on time to be left waiting at reception no meet and greet and stood there for ten minutes. Finally acknowledged by young male staff member to be told that there was no staff at the premises to cook our meal !!! It was then we noticed that customers already seated were not eating or drinking and were starting to leave. When we asked when they would be arriving we were told he did not know and had no idea when we would be able to be served, this is totally unacceptable. We wasted our time travelling to the venue and would have appreciated a call to advise us of the issue as they had our details from the booking process. I will not recommend this restaurant in future as they do not value our custom and will definitely advise friends and family to avoid at all cost. I would have given them a zero rating if it was possible

It's a bit hectic being New Years Eve. Even having to be asked to move tables in the middle of our meal wasn't the best! However, the meal was well presented, hot and delicious 😋

This is the best Indian I have been to. Staff wonderful and friendly. The decor is wonderful and ambiance is excellent. Best madras I have ever had. Will definately go again. Amazing.

Love this restaurant, amazing food and staff.

Not good value for money. First visit since Covid broke they are clearly making up for lost revenue. We opted for the King Prawn Tandoori. £11.95 is expensive for s starter but we thought we would treat ourselves. The fish came and consisted of potentially one king prawn and another piece which had some form of identity crisis, oh and some fried onions. When questioned the staff as to the lack of quantity they responded by saying food is more expensive. Sadly will now be looking for cheaper restaurants.

There are no two ways about how to describe Barton Rouge, it is excellent. Upon entering one senses a buzz of happy diners enjoying themselves. There is a good range of menu options and the food is delicious. On a busy Saturday night they would have benefited from a few additional staff, however the waiters worked tirelessly in keeping in touch and providing excellent service. It is comfortable, clean, and without doubt a return-to restaurant.

I am from London and often travel to the Wirral to visit family. I have eaten in London, Manchester, Birmjngham, the South East, including Southall as well as other curry houses up and down the land... and I can say, in my opinion, when the chef is on form at Barton Rouge, Wirrall, and to be fair 8 times out of 10 he is, on those 8 times the food is simply sensational. How is it, that as a Londoner I have to travel hundreds of miles to the middle of the Wirral (!) no less, in order to get Indian food that is mind blowingly good? Its a sad fact, but Indian food in the UK has become so bland and 'samey', with each dish seemingly prepared the same way - boiled or grilled meats plonked into a prepackaged sauce that it is no surprise the quality and numbers of curry houses are dropping. Food is blah. Not so Barton Rouge. Whe we first visited it a few years ago, I was like 'yeah right', a curry house in Middle England is going to impress me? OMG. Mind blown. My faith in high street curry houses restored... please, please BR continue doing what you are doing and do not succumb to the bland and compromise quality for costs savings. Does not work in the long run. I love this place almost as much as the family I have to visit ... in fact, thank God for family... otherwise would never have found it. The BR in Chester us terrible btw, just like all the other curry houses lately. Cheap pre prepared sauces and no subtlety... have not tried the Liverpool one. BTW, the other two times the chef is just 'great'...

Great experience after being recommended. Good efficient service & really tasty food. Not a fan of the takeaway menus which I guess are a hangover from Covid. Would also like to have been given a dessert menu.

Lovely food spoilt so bit by the poor service

There was just another table for 2 there when I arrived. I had to wait 45 mins to be served overcooked food and undercooked food.

Whole experience was undermined by staff telling us they had to get back to Manchester. Must of mentioned it 10 times and when they start cleaning and sweeping up on the next table then the message is quickly reminded. Don’t think we will be back for a while. Food was average compared to past visits. There’s another Indian restaurant in heswall that’s getting rave reviews. They can have our £100 a visit from now on.

There are a number of Indian restauranst local to us. Barton Rouge is 'ok' but not great. The food is not quite as good as some others locally ( Zeera in Irby, Dine India in Pensby are both better, especially in terms of quality of meat), and the prices in BR are probably 20-60% higher. So although we have been there once or twice, I suspect not likely to return to BR.

They must have had an off night tonight, because the service was awful. Other people got served before us, who arrived after us, there were very long waits for starters and getting our bill, took ages, which we had to ask for twice. Food was tasty, well most of it, however, due to the inattentive waiter that served us, we shall not be revisiting.

Want an amazing Indian for a night sit down meal or take away, you’ve found the best place for it. Amazing food, jam packed full of flavour and authentic ingredients. The staff are always friendly and the place is always smart and clean. If you go, You’ll have found your new favourite Indian.

Thoroughly disappointed with our evening at Barton Rouge, waited for two hours for our starter, by the time our main arrived it was Luke warm, one meal was incorrect, we were constantly asking where our food was, I think they had too many diners and couldn’t cope with the pressure, very expensive, food not up to standard , we will not be returning to this restaurant

Second meal out since lockdown trying the 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme. Son's girlfriend got some sort of metal/tinfoil stuck in her teeth from her dish and then I got a large hair in my mouth from my food. My dish was then replaced, but just meant that I ate on my own because the rest of the family had finished their meals by the time it came. Complained, but annoyed that management denied the hair had come from the kitchen although it was embedded in the food. We weren't charged for relevant meals, plus got a couple of free drinks, but overall experience was pretty much spoilt even considering the current circumstances. Live over the road from the restaraunt and certainly won't be rushing back.
