The best restaurants in West Lancashire North West

Unbelievable BAD!, we had pre booked our meals and paid a deposit for 5.30pm. The first starters came out at 6.15 with no apology then after this a waiter asked us if we want to order food! The main meals came out at 6.50. We had the sunday lunch platters which was basically 2 lunches served on a block of wood similar to a cheese board. The food was luke warm then with it being on a cold block of wood went cold very quickly, they also gave us cold plates to take it off the wooden board.We complained to a manager who looked like a rabbit in the headlights totally out of his depth. We were offered free drinks. We then had to clear our own plates and empty glasses on to the next table. Another party of 6 people had been waiting for half an hour for their desserts they just got off we followed suit and didn't have our desserts. We were given 30% discount but this the worst restaurant I have ever been in and I'm 66! Avoid at all costs!

We can honestly say the sandwiches were by far the worst we have ever had! It was a cold wet day and the egg sandwiches were so cold that the lettuce was frozen in the middle. I took them back to the counter and was offered an exchange. The tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches were so soggy they had almost disintegrated. I don't understand why they couldn't make them fresh to order - there seemed to be enough staff standing around! Never again!

I’ve had 3 experiences with Luca at the buck and non of them were great. The first time we had booked online to visit on a Monday, when myself and my friends met up at the restaurant we were turned away and told it was shut on a Monday, this was despite being able to book online. Both other times when we have managed to eat we found the food to either be really spicy or just bland. The chicken Milanese and the pizzas are worth getting. The calamari although well presented was one of the worst I’ve ever had. The carbonara is bland and the hummus itself was nice but served with crudités not bread. I find the service is always slow in here (even when it was spitroast) we almost always get our food before our drinks. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you were really stuck for choice, the Luca in Allerton is much better.

Before i leave this poor review I’d like to state that I’m bartender an understand the difficulties of the customer facing role especially during technical difficulties however I’ve never felt more Ill treated by a member of staff in my life. The tone I got spoke to in an basically shouted to a degree due was frankly appalling because it was obviously on my face the technical difficulty was an inconvenience however Im aware it is no fault of the staff therefore I was spoke to horribly an had my food slammed on the counter once I’d paid. Genuinely in shock of how bad it was however the pastries are absolutely unreal but the treatment was that poor that businesses it’s self should be aware.

Ormskirks best Chinese delivery by a mile. Tried them all over the years and this beats the lot. Fast delivery and great prices too.

We have been here several times over the last few years as we love the food and have never had a bad experience with it. Our latest visit for my wife's birthday was a mixed experience for us. The food was superb as always but we were let down massively by the service. The staff are all very friendly but there appeared to be no management of the staff. There did not appear to be a server assigned to a group of tables rather each member of staff just served who they could. The problem with that is that none of the staff appeared to know what each other member of staff had done or not done and didn't know were tables were up to. We were left feeling abandoned and had to flag staff down to order more drinks and then subsequently chase drinks and also chasing staff to provide us with dessert menus. Overall a disappointing experience for my wife's birthday.

Met the most obnoxious, rude individual who told me to basically go to hell with an order.you could not order a starter. Sadly, he is the most degenerative individual. At least I am not the only person to place to leave a negative review. Please take a look. Avoid, avoid avoid. They clearly don't need your business. I hope you are closed down. Not fit for purpose. Disgusting vile individual. I rang back for his name and was told that using explicit language to hang up the call. I was trying to give him constructive feedback. A waste of time It's great when a lamentable company can act like this in the current climate. Disgusting.

Agonisingly slow service. They also.got the order wrong.i would never return,

We had two trios today cooked by Dan and was served by the lovely Alex, who couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely be back next week for another.

Our meal this evening was outstanding, service was excellent , can’t wait to visit again soon.

We Spent Mother’s Day at the Scullery, the food, atmosphere and service was outstanding, one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had, can’t wait to return.

Honestly best fish and chips we have all had for a long time!! 10/10 for us, fish cooked to perfection crispy batter but not too thick, the chips so lovely nice and golden, we will be ordering again very soon!

Checked on pubs website to check opening hours. Showed open so drove to the pub for a meal. Ordered drinks and when I asked for the menus I was told they don’t serve food on Mondays. Complete waste of time. Why do they not include this information on the website??

Could do with help at dinner time lol but that is because it's the best chippy in Ormskirk. 10/10 And most people know this.

Awful customer service. Short server with dyed blind hair really rude when simply asked for flavours of frappes. Took an interest while drinking our drinks and she was equally obnoxious with 200% of customers. 50% of tables not cleared and floor littered with discarded tissues. Place half empty on a busy market Saturday. 6 other coffee houses within 100 metres. Clearly people voting with their feet Server in question looked hungover, regularly going into back kitchen for 5 minutes breaks leaving a young server alone to cope. Fortunately, not too many customers to worry about. Starbucks next visit I think...
