Luca in West Lancashire

I’ve had 3 experiences with Luca at the buck and non of them were great. The first time we had booked online to visit on a Monday, when myself and my friends met up at the restaurant we were turned away and told it was shut on a Monday, this was despite being able to book online. Both other times when we have managed to eat we found the food to either be really spicy or just bland. The chicken Milanese and the pizzas are worth getting. The calamari although well presented was one of the worst I’ve ever had. The carbonara is bland and the hummus itself was nice but served with crudités not bread. I find the service is always slow in here (even when it was spitroast) we almost always get our food before our drinks. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you were really stuck for choice, the Luca in Allerton is much better.

Portions so small you'll be looking at the plate and wondering if it's actually edible, since you're guaranteed to be starving after finishing. I will never see a smaller pizza in my life. Very poor value for money overall.

Fantastic food, top class service and a lovely atmosphere. Can't wait to go back. I can highly recommend the Gnocchi, absolutely delicious.

All round excellent food. We had 6 dishes and a salad and fries. Everything was cooked beautifully, the salad was one of the best I have eaten and all served by motivated and happy staff. The staff recommended 2 dishes each and we thought we’d be smart and ordered a third which we couldn’t finish. It states small plates but these are significant serving sizes.

Met with a friend for lunch We both had a deli style sandwich and some olives. My friend had the Traditional and I the Milanese(breaded chicken) I’m afraid the flavours did not really work for me especially as the house crisps were a mixture of plain,salt and vinegar and cheese and onion appearing to be from an average bag of crisps. Presentation was also average and a bit uninspiring. Decaf cappuccino was good. Note there is a 10 per cent service charge on bill at this establishment

Had a great experience tonight, was really excited about coming as I’ve been to their allerton site. Food was amazing the gnocchi was incredible! Service was interesting as the staff are at the table a lot explaining the menu which is good but we’re really attentive. I will 100% be back, well worth the money.

Thought we would try Luca, as we loved Spit roast. Disappointed, limited choice, no chicken wings, no ribs. I was aware it was small plate tapas style, but the individual prices did not reflect this. You expected a decent portion for the prices. Everything we had was fine! Just not enough and overpriced. The carbonara was tiny. Pizzarette ? Yes very small pizzas. The pjj look ace was clean tidy staff were ok , but I’m not inclined to rush back. On a plus note, you still have access to the pub part if you want to pay £6 a pint…..

Disappointing. Appreciate its small plates...but was literally very small plates and big prices!!! They seemed to have literally now rammed in as many tables as they can, was elbow room from next tables. The food itself was nice, no faults there...but would either eat before you go or have a large wallet!!! Serving very small portions for the full price of a meal, thought they were actually joking when they brought the food out. Staff were little over attentive, were literally stood watching, as we had our last mouth full...they asking if we want sweet, after declining, then ok will it be cash or card....paid and was still finishing our wine but they were rudely moving tables around us...like a huge hint to leave!!! Very disappointing for special occasion. Just a complete rip off and uncomfortable atmosphere. Such a shame as eat out alot.

We had such a lovely night from start to finish. Food was delicious, especially the beef ragu pasta and goats cheese salad. I’ve been the Allerton Road Luca many times but love how you can continue the evening in the bar area here. I can’t wait to return, especially on a sunny day to have a few drinks in the courtyard. We are coming back next week with family. Thank you Luca for an amazing night as always.

Not sure what all these gushing reviews are about. We were there Saturday and lots of talk about how people felt it was expensive and not very good quality. We had a pizza which was ok but a bit dry, the calamari which was average, the arancini which were bland and the parpadelle which was about as good as your average sauce in jar. Service was ok but nothing to get too excited about. They add 10% to your bill for this as well. We had a couple of drinks each and somehow the bill was just under £80. Somebody here said about Bacaro in Liverpool which is way better and worth the effort. If you aren't feeling Liverpool then try the food market in Ormskirk for something a bit better.

Just love the vibe in here! I am a regular in the allerton road Luca and the ormskirk one did not disappoint! The food was unbelievable, I love the whole vibe with the bar attached so you can make a night out off it if you’re travelling to it. Staff was lovely and service was amazing too! We had the best night! Totally recommend!! Also recommend the arancini balls wow!

Just recently visited this fab new restaurant! I’ve been to the allerton one and absolutely loved the food! But much prefer it here. Food is still just as gorgeous but absolutely loved the atmosphere too! We all had food and wine and everything was delish. I love the calamari, gnocchi and beef parpadelle oh and the goats cheese salad is amazing 😋. What makes this better than allerton is the fact that we could finish our drinks in the little pub at the back of the restaurant the perfect end to a perfect evening. Thank you Luca at the buck for the best night! Can’t wait to come back. And sit in the courtyard with a cocktail 🍹

Ok tried Luca today For food and was somewhat disappointed, we ordered 5 dishes (tapas) they were there within 5 minutes sent 2 back due to being cold so obviously not cooked fresh, £10 for a saucer size pizza they gave MINT across the way and they are far better and well priced, you will have to improve LUCA or you will go the same way as many others in ormskirk

Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. The service was brilliant and the food OMG is next level! The salt and pepper gnocchi is a must and I would highly recommend a pizza with it as the sauce was to die for!! I will definitely be back again!! Thank you to all the team 😁
