Worst chippy going used to be ok when was Chinese chippy never again made me heave

Canal boat excursion, stopped at burscough bridge, only 1 hr stay which was poor but theres nothing worth looking at in burscough so prob why its only an hr. The worst chippy i have ever encountered in my 40+ yrs. If the chips had been cooked, they would have been close to mediocre. Worst chips i've ever had. No crisp and no fluff. They were very raw and were just very hard chunks of potato. The sausages were your bog standard chippy bangers. On the plus side, my partner enjoyed the fish. Will NEVER go back and adivse others to avoid unless u like uncooked chunks of patato. Receipt says the best chippy in the world 🤣 which must be talking about another world because they cant be talking about here. Worst £18 ever spent.

Was in cornwall last week and spent a fortune at rick steins takeaway , they wasn't a patch on these ,best chippy tea I've ever had

Me and my 2 young boys were greeted by a most unwelcoming server, who grimaced at every question regarding the options available. I placed my order in spite of the miserable face in front of me and was duly overcharged. When I questioned the tariff the refund of 2 x 20p coins were more or less flung at me across the counter and there was no apology whatsoever. The chicken bites were good, but how can they be bad? The chips were awful. Sloppy and falling apart. Avoid.

First time here today and the fish & chips were fantastic, especially the plaice which was a nice change to see, very well presented and will definitely go again.

Proper chips,  thick cut and defiantly potatoey: golden to the eye, hot and fluffy within,see photo This is the best chippy in Burscough all the staff seemed to be happy & engaging I will definitely be back.

The portions are tiny. They do a small fish and chips with peas for £6.50. It is about 4 chips, a small fish finger size fish and a teaspoon of peas.At £3 I would have felt it was over priced! Other portions are tiny as well. Got some latge chips which are £3.50 and are a smaller portion than other chippys normal ones. The owner seemed to be telling staff smaller portions constantly and was in a filthy apron. Seems his aim is to charge quite a lot for under 5 year old meals. The curry sauce is just a cheap makway tub (I think) one you can make at home easy from the jar And the chips arent as nice as other local ones. Also tried to order giros which a couple in group wanted, and not available on a Friday night. There are much better places around than this one.

Had 2 meals now and both times more than enough portion size, very nice food, well cooked and great staff. It would be nice for reviews to be about food staff and service not about the type of day the customer has had and rant because it's been a bad day.

Couldn't tell you what the foods like as I didn't get any! Little angry bald man who must be the owner took my order as I came in, started serving other people and then 5 minutes later asked me if I'd been served, I said yeah, he asked who served me, I said you served me and he got an attitude on telling me i should of went to the counter to order, I mean why ask me what I wanted when I walked in? No doubt if it was one the girls working there they would of been shouted at but because it was him it was somehow my fault, so I went the other chippy Seemed rather aggressive towards the female staff he has working there too as many other people in the shop could attest to So in a whole terrible service from the little bald man Quite aggressive towards his own staff Treats customers like they are stupid Shame as the food looks quite nice but I refuse to go back as the guys quite clearly a bully towards his staff and has no accountability

Avoid salt and pepper chips, £4.50 got 10 chips bit ov onion bit ov pepper, that's almost 50p a chip, collected this order went back to my car drove home, opened them, wasn't a happy bunny, if opened in chippy would have been throwing them back at them gone somewhere else, just felf robbed

Just been in this chip shop at 8.00 and they took my order I payed then told me after serving 5 people that had gravy that they had none left the boss man was really rude to his staff i won't be coming here again would not ever give it a star

Was very impressed with the food. Fish and calamari were cooked perfectly with a light batter. Great customer service.

Newly opened chippy! First try and we liked it. The chips are chunky and not greasy at all, unlike some places. The menu is quite small but has most things you expect from British chippy. Their menu will expand in due course but at the moment they are concentrating on training the new staff and getting everything right. We will most definitely be using them again.

The fish chips and peas portion size would probably suit a 4 year old. Think I counted 10 chips.

Tried this newcomer tonight and I am extremely impressed. The food was cooked fresh, was ready in 5 minutes and tasted excellent, exactly what you need in your way home from work. The service was great, the owner is a lovely fella. This is the proper chip shop that Burscough needed. Well done!

Fantastic, quick service with delicious fish and chips (cooked to perfection), tasty mushy peas and curry sauce - ate it too quickly to take a pic but will do next time! Try it - it’s the best fish & chips in the village by far 🤩

Not impressed tonight at all. Sweet and sour pork. Not one single veg in it and gross pork. Prawn toast salty horrible and soggy . Chips ok

Awful Chippy. Last Sunday we ordered a bunch of food about an hour before they closed, we got our food 5 minutes before they closed and when we opened the bag they had charged up for a large chips and didn't bring it. I tried to call up but they had turned the phones off 3 minutes to closing time. The food we got itself was awful too, I got yeong chow fried rice and it was disgusting, instead of the ham chunks you're supposed to get I got strips of cheap ham you'd find for like 50p at Aldi it was revolting. Since then we've been trying to call up and get compensation for the missing chips but each and every time they've been closed. I don't know if they've shut down which might be a blessing but if they haven't don't bother coming here unless you want to chance food poisoning. There's plenty of other better Chinese and chippys around Burscough and Ormskirk.

Great food we had ordered a takeaway Chinese meal it was delicious would recommend to anyone who lives close by

Extremely polite and well mannered staff, especially the young man that works there is always a pleasure to be served by. 10/10 would recommend. And the beautiful girl is OK too

Absolutely Awful!! Nothing short of dire.... live so close to this place but i will never return, defo travel elsewhere for better quality of food! Worst Chinese & English food ive ever had and will never risk it again. Only give 1 star cos half star or zero star not possible.......

I ordered for delivery never turned up when I rang they said they couldn’t find address and the tried to contact me, unusual as I never had any missed calls , if you don’t want to end up hungry order from somewhere else!!! Total disgrace

Yippee. They have started doing a small fish which is great as a large one is huge. I wish they did a small portion of chips as well as far too much for one person but tasty and freshly cooked.

Very slow service. 30mins for chips & 2 burgers. When burgers received finally & got to the car; chicken burger was a very small fillet and a HUGE bun that wasn't buttered or didn't have any form of salad. The bun was far far bigger than the burger, it was a search for it! The other was a bacon burger... It was a burger with a piece of bacon 🤷‍♀️ the chips were okay, asked for Salt & Vinegar and it was clear none was added. Very disappointed.

I’d have left no stars if I could. Advertising open until 11 but closes at 9:30 on a Saturday? Menu for takeaway conveniently leaves prices blank. Seriously gone downhill in the 3 years I’ve lived here. Very disappointed.

Re edited. After 6 year's of going to this company they have seriously dropped in standards. Food is always wrong, under staffed and can't keep staff for more then 2 month's. It's sometimes cold what it never used to be. The chips used to be pretty much fresh... Now they ain't?

What a hidden gem. The size of the fish. Light and fluffy. The chips. A small bag would feed 3. Mushy peas full of flavour. And the only snag for me. Chinese curry. But even the curry is full of flavour. 2 large fish. Chips. Carton of mushy peas and curry. £11.50 beat value we have had in a long time. The lady who served me. Very polite and so helpful. If this place had fruity curry I would mark then in the mid 9's but Chinese curry on fish. I have to mark them 8.8 out of ten. Almost perfect.

The original and best Burscough chippy. Never disappoints!

This is quite a big chippy it has a quite large menu of English and Chinese food. The chippy seems to be quite popular on occasions I've seen people queuing outside the door. It's clean, tidy and well set out. The last time we visited we had salt and pepper wings and they were fantastic I would highly recommend.

Can't beat proper Fish & Chips!!! 👍

i was in the Spar next door , when the 2 staff ran in from the burscough bar ,theatening a disabled person. i stood up for him and then they turned upon myself. the disabled lad made his escape. i will never go in the burscough bar ever again and as a matter of fact the food is shocking i ask you all to boycott this establishment
