Wan's in West Lancashire

Ordered salt and pepper ribs last Saturday night. They were ready for collection 20 minutes later. They were absolutely beautiful . There was plenty of meat on them. We will most definitely order them again.

I’ve ordered from this place several times. Good food. However, put in an order this evening. Got a phone call back 10min later saying the driver is new and does not feel comfortable driving to where I live. It’s literally one straight road and a dual carriageway. It seemed to me as they were busy they just didn’t want to drive the distance to where I live. Not like I live in middle of nowhere. A delivery drive should be able to drive anywhere within the radius the business sets. Sorry. I love the food here but won’t return due to this. I’ve a newborn baby so picking up wasn’t an option. I’ve had deliveries to my address at least 6 times in last 9 months.

First time for me and it was excellent, very fresh top quality ingredients. Highly recommended

I’m the worse with takeaways very fussy ordered Singapore vermicelli very nice! Not greasy at all partner cashew chicken and egg fried rice very nice delivery within 30mins will definitely be ordering again

Against better judgment (and reviews) we ordered a meal for three tonight and when the meals were delivered we were missing a fried rice with one of them. Politely called the takeaway and told them of their mistake, only to be arrogantly informed by what sounded like a (law) student that he checked the order and we didn’t include a fried rice - apparently they send meals without a side? Not wanting to get into it with a snot-nosed student (hope you’re not a business studies undergrad because you need to learn customer skills, brand ambassadorship and charm if you’re planning on making it in the real world, young man!) and wait another 45 minutes for an accompaniment, I just hung up, flabbergasted by how abrupt and rude he was. The food was very average quality & lukewarm by the time it arrived … how you make a salt & pepper dish bland is beyond me… so needless to say we’ll vote with our feet and won’t be ordering again. I don’t often write reviews but the guy on the phone tonight compelled me to write this one. What a plonker! If anyone “old school” remembers Nancy from Ko Wah on County Road, please find her family and install them - her spare ribs were legendary and the meals always delicious.

Ordered food for collection but when we arrived it had been sent out for delivery! When it finally arrived the soup was really watery, and had too much sweetcorn. The spring rolls were fatty and tasteless. Chips were missing from the omelette order and the fish & chips were only lukewarm warm. The curry king prawn and chicken cashew nuts dishes were good. Overall not the best birthday celebration meal. Not sure we’ll be ordering from here again!

Absolute rubbish. Luke warm and the gravy was minging with a burnt taste, vile.

Shocking service, cold food and missing items from order. They claimed they had packaged everything, insinuating I would lie about prawn crackers. Never use them again, absolutely shocking service.

Had cold food delivered with half of the order missing. Delivery driver had an attitude when he had to come back to our house. Spoke to wans regarding this and then he said we also ‘claimed’ we had cold food in 2023. Absolutely shocking service, will never use them again!

Definitely the best Chinese I’ve had for a vegetarian - the tofu options are 10/10

Tried to order a takeaway for delivery including a meal for me, vegetarian with no MSG, had to ring 27 times to get through! When I got through I asked a gentleman three times for what I ordered then I got passed to a lady to repeat the order twice only to be told they don’t do it without MSG! I said Id ordered this dish least half a dozen times before with no problem and was asked if it was a different restaurant! I said not to worry I’d order elsewhere and was told okay, sorry about that no problem! Unbelievable, they obviously don’t need the custom!!!!

The food we had delivered was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, waste of money!!!! All went in the bin 🤢 Won’t be going there again

Had food delivered and the quality was very average (meaning below average). The special Chow mein was over-cooked, ingredients weren’t fresh by a long shot and generally unimaginative, lacking and the English dishes consisted of frozen cod (the girl on the phone did warn us) that was cremated. Over half was thrown away, very disappointed.

Fast to be made, good portions, all tasted nice

the chips are not as good as they use to be, rest of the food was still good . don't know if using different potatoes .

The best Chinese takeaway around.

Food is awesome! The salt an pepper chicken is the best in Ormskirk and I really do mean that! The staff are really kind and friendly and happy to help with most things. I really couldn’t recommend a better take away in Ormskirk these guys too the list :)

Food always tastes delicious - recommend the duck spring rolls and the sweet and sour pork especially.

Salt & Pepper chips are too spicy

Food isn't too bad . Service is pretty good but double check your orders b4 you leave premises sometimes they forget to put something in .

Not a bad Chinese however I did ask for thin egg noodles and received soft egg noodles, also asked for another pot of the chilli beef sauce bit got garlic chilli sauce. Other than that I ate it and was decent enough

Decent but always seem to get things wrong with order. Need to work on this, e.g. veggie means no non veg. Good taste and friendly staff.

Sorry wans but putting price up so much has forced me to change my review. Wont be ordering 2/3 times a week anymore. Checked my menu from last year and been charged an extra £7 for two meals.

Sadly i have been inclined to change my 5 star review. Been ordering for 20 years. However given the recent price increase i wont be ordering for a while. Shame i honestly order 2/3 times a week. Or at least i did.

Tasty, but prices have increased so much recently, doesn't feel good value / worth jt any more. Was always a less good quality but cheaper option than the Peacock, but now it's just as expensive.

I have been going to Wans (Nancys) for over 20 years and the food has slowly reduced in terms of quality. I ordered 5 meals last night and was astonished that the cost was just short of £50 I then noticed that they have now decided that none of their meals come with rice or chips, even though they have kept the price the same. Sadly I wont be coming back, the Acropolis meals are just as good and much cheaper as they include the rice and chips. I feel Wans need to look seriously at their money grabbing price restructure £10 for a bog standard takeaway is a joke

Very disappointed that Wans have decided not to include rice or chips now with their meals. A pathetic excuse that ingredients have gone up and they now charge extra for rice and chips. I never seen any news saying potato and rice prices had sky rocketed. The Ormskirk chippy still gives rice and chips with their meals. So from now on its the Ormskirk chippy for me.

Wrong sauce, asked for satay and got curry, chewy salt and pepper chicken and tofu both doused with some overpowering oil and ruined the crispy aspect to the batter. Sat heavy and was far from good for me. Typical western Chinese takeaway food, 5/10. Not ordering again.

Received our takeaway and I have to say it was the nicest and tastiest we have had. We have eaten chineses food all over the country and this is by far the best.

Always faultless, traditional Chinese food, also a large English menu. Delivery service is great. If you're on foot, you can always order in the shop, there is plenty of seating for you while you wait. 👍

The best Chinese for miles. Highly recommend the salt and pepper chickenz, chicken curry, spicy spring rolls and prawn toast. Excellent sized portions and always lovely and hot.

Nice clean environment, polite staff and delicious food.

Such good food!!! Although I kinda wish I'd known that the portions were massive in advance, me and my partner appear to have been left with the next week's meals already planned because we had a LOT of leftovers - not that I consider that a bad thing, of course. The food was lovely, still! Although the chips could have done with some more salt, I'll admit.

Exceptional food we really enjoyed every meal we ordered. The staff are polite and helpful.

Tried last two Saturdays to ring for delivery order. Rang from 5pm onwards and line was engaged all the time . Gave up after 35 mins

Found a hair in my Salt and pepper chicken. Very unhygienic and the chips were cold! Have ate in here before and it has been lovely but has really went down hill since April will NOT be eating out of here again!

Delievery was efficient, food was great portion sizes are perfect. We would highly recommend this gem of a takeaway.

Terrible food. Ordered salt and pepper chips and they were inedible because they were absolutely soaked and dripping in oil. A salt and pepper meal is supposed to be a dry dish. Clearly minimal care and effort had gone into the preparation of food. Really I should have gone back and complained but I had already come away. I will not be eating there again.

Best Chinese in Ormskirk and always has been. Foods always what you would expect from a good Chinese takeaway.

Main courses lacked any flavour. It was like they were cooked in watery gravy. Worst Chinese I have ever had.

We have not tried WANs as yet but are delighted to have found a Chinese in the Aughton/Ormskirk area that not only delivers but also has on line ordering . Will be using this service soon it has come to us highly recommended so looking forward to giving it a try .

Used to love this place. Last visit was a disappointment but thought I'd give it another try. Wish I hadn't bothered. The special sweet and sour balls were disgusting it was like chewing old trainers. I wish I was joking. Nancy would be ashamed of that food. Binned it AGAIN.

Keep getting orders wrong when we go in and today we ordered a fish for my Mother in law who didn’t want a Chinese meal and this is what was produced. It looks like it has been reheated multiple times, completely inedible. Would of liked to receive a refund but was only offered a new fish or credit for the meal meaning to gain the money back for something that went in the bin we have to go and spend in there again. I understand that this is not a fish and chip shop but if you are going to offer it as an option and charge £5 (would be cheaper elsewhere) at least make sure it’s edible!

Thought I’d try this place. Ordered Special curry with fried rice, chips and chop suet roll to share. Very disappointing! £10:40 thrown in the bin! Inedible.

Just ordered 2 meals king prawn ginger and spring onion and mixed meat in OK sauce to be delivered to our campsite and we have to say it is one of the loveliest Chinese we have had in a long time. Lots of meat great flavour and a great price and it arrived in excellent time with a nice complimentary bag of prawn crackers . Very well recommended

Awesome Chinese. Touring at Abbey Farm Caravan Park and we all decided for a takeaway. The owners mentioned how good this place was so we thought we would give it a go . Probably the best Chinese we have ever had !!!! Little gem . Well done.

Food is top notch. Prices are standard and staff friendly. However, you need to bring cash as they don't accept any form of card payment.

Wan's have gone even further up my 'top tips' list since they introduced their delivery service. Food is always great and very reasonably priced. Deliveries always arrive on time and piping hot, Wan's serve the best Singapore Vermicelli & Salt 'n Pepper Squid I've ever tasted :)

Had duck and pancakes, sauce was like paste from a jar, pre shredded duck, very small pieces!, had to warm pre packed pancakes, cucumber and spring onions in same tub, so tough if you dislike cucumber, boiled rice awful soggy more like rice pudding, chow me in lot's of it, but greasy! Won't return .

The food came much earlier than agreed over the phone and the soup was gluey and tasteless. The spare ribs were drowned in insipid gravy and the main course was .....well disgusting! Such a shame as Wans was the best Chinese takeaway in Ormskirk !

waited over an hour for food, then got short changed by £10, nancy used to do a great job,the new people running it ,are destroying a good business, 30yrs we've been going there, never again, you've just lost another customer.

Ordered from this establishment last weekend. The food was delivered promptly and the delivery lady was very chatty and pleasant. Food was delicious and enjoyed by the whole family. Will be returning soon.

Just spent £26 on a few dishes as the reviews here seemed good for the place but i am so disappointed. Food is bland, needed lots of salt to taste even slightly better. Greasy watery taste to the fried rice and chicken batter balls. The BBQ sauce taste like gravy, nothing remote BBQ about it at all. For the £26 total price got a bag of prawn crackers (if you can call it that) containing all of about 8 - 10 prawn crackers that looked stale. If only they did not shut as i got home i would have gone back for a refund. Will not be returning and think the reviews here are from people who have just come out the local pub and not sure what they are eating as it is disgusting. You know its bad when even the dog refuses to eat it.

Have been going to this takeaway for many years and always had good, and friendly, service. Sadly not with the new owners, got our order wrong, ok sauce with rice rather than the beef with ok sauce ordered. Who has sauce and rice!! Options were - go back and pay the extra for the beef, really? or get £1.60 off the next order to cover what we had paid for the sauce. Lost our custom.

Amazing quality food, restaurant quality. It can get very busy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so there can be a long wait on those days. However it is definitely worth the wait.

This Chinese located in the centre of Ormskirk is amazing. The food has always been delicious and the staff are always helpful. They also do home delivery which is great and the delivery drivers are always pleasant.

Very popular so be prepared to wait at times. Wan's has always been one of the best Chinese takeaways in town

First and last visit £24-50 for syrup.sweet and sour chicken just red syrup with one quarter ton two thin pepper sliced a two onion skins salt pepper chicken so lassed with chilli it was uneatable prawn toast raw in middle very disappointed

We never realised they delivered and glad they do. The food was excellent and good sized portions also very good value.

New to area and tried Wan's for the first time. Will be back for more! Hot & Sour soup was spot on. Kingdo Wings absolutely delicious. Beef with fresh ginger & spring onions a real classic. S&S; chicken went down a treat. Ribs were juicy and meaty. King prawns & brocc yummy. Noodles were awesome!

One of the worse Chinese meals I have ever had really greasy and bland and it was sooo salty, my stomach is doing somersaults as I write this.

Wouldn't even given 1star. Worst Chinese we've ever had, worst takeaway full stop. Absolutely diabolical. Wouldn't feed it the dog.

First time ordering, service was first rate. The food was fresh and tasty. not greasy like the others Chinese take aways. I cannot recommend them enough.

ordered £27 worth of meals and there wasn't any of it i could honestly say was ok, all meals were cold, chips were cold and tasteless, the seaweed was stale..would not recommend at all it was vile

Have been going here maybe a hand full of times a year for the last 5 years or so. Every time it's been top quality, arrived extremely quickly and the staff, particularly Nancy, are friendly and polite. There's no competition between wans and the other Chinese take aways around here, they're first port of call every time(I have tried them all lol)

The worst Chinese food I've had, I had salt and pepper chicken which the chicken was non existant it was just thin strips of fat and my girlfriend had bbq ribs which tasted like they have just been bought from Iceland. Straight in the bin what a waste of money
