Enjoyed a great meal very good service

It’s stuck in the 80s decor wise. Why would you deep fry in batter ribs? They were also tough and fatty. The duck was dry, the chicken full of colouring. In a word awful.

All the food that we ordered were delicious. I specially liked the ribs-it was deep fried and crisp with deliciously marinated!! Will come again

Favourite Chinese around. Always spot on whether dining in or taking away.

Can’t count how many times friends and I have been. Everytime we go we have a good time, great food and service. No dish has ever been substandard. Only issue is going back downstairs to near the entrance to use the toilet.

Don't bother with this provider. Rude staff. No manners, unwelcoming. Terrible experience. Don't know how you survive. The hospitality industry is not helped by this kind of behaviour. Terrible food. Wake up and take a look in the mirror please. Cold plates with chips in the enamel. Stained table clothes. VILE.

Busy Chinese restaurant with lots of choice. Clean tablecloth after every guest left. Good service and food.

Appreciated linen table cloths+ napkins,Only ordered main course which was delicious+ good portion size. Now on our favourite where to dining list. Will certainly return.

Good food, terrible service rude staff, especially woman in the suit very very rude, unwelcoming. We were still eating and 3 times she come over and asked if she could take our plates. Didn’t get offered a desert menu. When handing us our plates and cutlery she may as well of thrown them at us.

Travelled over 45 minutes to meet up with some friends and go for a nice meal which had been recommended. The food was ok, the duck spring rolls could have done with some more duck in them as I thought I was having veg spring rolls. The only staff that smiled was the young females. The older men where very very rude, when we asked if they did a certain main after we couldn’t see it on the menu he said “yes, look at the menu”. We felt like we was being watched over and rushed. I would have returned as the food wasn’t bad, however I wouldn’t return now due to the atmosphere and service. If you are a regular it seems you get a higher standard of service. If you’re going get a takeaway if you don’t want to feel uneasy.

Food was ok. Duck spring rolls could have had more duck in them, thought I was eating veg spring roll. Our Waiter was very rude, noone smiled except the young females. When we couldn’t find something on the menu we asked and he said “look at the menu”. Which was very unprofessional. When going for food you should receive good service as well as good food. I would have returned for the quality of food but not for experience and service.

Greeted by a grunt from a person who appeared to be the owner. The quality of the food as gone down considerably since my last visit to Ormskirk I have always recommended this restaurant to others visiting the town this will not be happening again started plate decoration looked like it had been tossed from plate to plate for at least 12 months or more. The food also!!!!!! and to be asked for a tip before we had even looked at the bill was so rude. If you feel you need to ask then put a service charge on to save the embarrassment.

Staff are nice and helpful and also have a good sense of humour 😀

One of very few restaurants that can be called as late as 8.30pm and still be seated for a meal. Fantastic setting ...nobody would imagine how such a small entrance could lead to a fabulous floor space. Dinner for 2 we ordered the second banquet and are delighted to find that not only was the food delicious but portion sizes were so filling we simply had the take the main courses home as a take out . Service was fantastic , setting very nice indeed, food delicious and fresh , reasonably priced . A fab understated little Chinese restaurant

Some of the staff were very unfriendly, constantly rushing me and my partner to finish our food and circled around the table until we’d put our cutlery down and ask if we had finished, despite us already saying we hadn’t 2 minutes prior. This, of course, made us very uncomfortable with the staff watching over us. When we walked out we both said thank you very much and all we got back were blank stares. Only saving grace was the food, yet this i belive is still overpriced.

The best Chinese restaurant we've been to in a long time, food is fantastic, lovely relaxing atmosphere, staff are very friendly and welcoming, also spoke to Danny the owner at length, which you never really get to do these days !! Will definitely be going back!!

Have visited the restaurant since the month it opened. However, it has gone down in my family's opinion. From sitting down, it took over 3o mins to be asked for a drink. Once it arrived, we did not get what was ordered. Food was poor, and I did not eat all my food. The staff generally OK, except managers. Simply Rude! I think we will give it a wide berth in the future. What a shame.

Staff here are very rude. Whether it is a cultural thing I am unsure but they are very short with people, borderline aggressive. Portions are small for the price and it is quite claustrophobic. Not sure that they too keen on you using it as a takeaway either as told to sit down and wait again quite aggressively, as if the woman is speaking to a child. No offer of a drink or conversation to see if you are well. Just generally an unwelcoming feeling.

We ordered 5 of the £25 banquet Meals. For starters we got soup, 1 rib 1 spring roll, tea spoon of pickled veg each and 5 mains which were 50% onions. Apart from the tiny portions the ribs were that tuff I’ve booked a check up at the dentist . Rip off 🤯

We opted for a takeaway so wasn’t really hot but that I could sort,prawn crackers were stale,the noodles were so greasy the bottom of container was swimming,I asked for my chicken to be battered yet it was boring boiled and un battered the whole meal...

Disappointing night out , Dated restaurant, miserable staff , overpriced for less then average food !

We went last night for a family meal and I have been there before and I have found the staff to be very rude on every occasion I have been there. I will not be using this restaurant ever again.

The food was excellent, decent prices but on the drinks side it was quite limited could do with getting rid of carling and replacing it with a better lager. And the staff were brilliant 👍

Some Food was Exceptional IE starters. Some Food wasn't to our liking. One of them restaurants were it depends what you order. Whether it's a good overall meal or not. Service was great though.

Collected a take out order for a special birthday treat. Have dined in in the past and everyone enjoyed the food. We were disappointed with the take out food.

VERY rude service when I went to collect my takeaway this evening, from an employee wearing airpods. Very rude to me and other customers. Will not be back based solely on him. Food was tasty but not worth the extra cost over Wans or Food4U!

I give the Peacock 5 stars for a number of reasons and depite there being no disabled access ( the restaurant being located on the 1st floor). That, however, is the only negative. Staff are friendly, polite and attentive. The decor is stunning and the restaurant is immaculately clean. The menu is extensive with 3 'banquet' options and a large choice of individual starters, main meals and sides. A dessert menu is also available. The food is beautifully presented and tastes amazing. The atmosphere is very good indeed with a casual dress code and it is very family friendly. Prices are reasonable too with takeaway also an option, a discount is given on food for takeaway. A must visit if you enjoy quality Chinese food in a warm and welcome atmosphere.

Sunday afternoons between 1-4 pm they do a 4 course deal. Soup, starter, main & dessert. Lots of choice. Daughter is a veggie and there were plenty of veggie choices. 4 courses £13.50, good value, lovely food.

5 people smoking, IN THE RESTAURANT!!! Even the manager, absolutely appalling, should have taken further action as even a waitress apologised for their behaviour (despite us not mentioning beforehand), couldn’t taste any of the food as none of the windows were open either. I don’t usually write bad reviews however this one certainly needs to be justified.

Amazing the food was fantastic service excellent could not fault anything they even do takeaway so I'll be having some of that to 👍

Been a regular at the peacock for a number of years,, has the classic Chinese restaurant decor and feel to the place , few big banquet tables and 4 and 2 seaters, apart from the stairs as the restaurant is on 1st floor it is perfect, unfortunately my father struggles to make the stairs and unfortunately can not go anymore, the food is a great selection on offer many starters to choose from, the salt and pepper King prawn are huge and come crispy in the shell but my favourite is the squid and steak roll in black pepper sauce, not cheap but good quality and always leave fully satisfied, look forward to my next visit Lee pennington

Your response to Gemma Smiths review I cannot believe. there was 10 people on our table 7 banquets were ordered 2 people got ordinary meal and one got nuggets and chips .as for the cake that was bought by my sister in law not free off yourselves. One member of staff was very rude. young man that served drinks was lovely. It was all very rushed, considering the amount of money that got spent there should have been better service

Not the best service but nice food

We booked for large party of 24 which they said they could accommodate. When we arrived we was split up on three different tables. The restaurant was packed and really hot, Most of the party ordered banquets, everybody was left hungry as the portion sizes was reduced, complete scam. When I asked for the order to be separate, the waitress snapped back at me and told me this couldn't be done. I would never recommend a trip here. It was a rip off and a waste of money. With Rude staff.

Been recommended by locals. Loved the place and the staff were very nice along with the other patrons. Group of lads on tables behind us who were all behaving themselves as well as teenagers when we arrived in waiting area. All very respectful to all and everybody seemed to enjoy the place. Food was lovely and service was good. Good value also.

Hello please make the toffee apples like you used to . They are too big and the apples inside wete bruised . But the rest of the meal was lovely

Food and service was fine but we are in tier 3 lock down and the rules were clearly not being adhered to. A group of 12 were by us, 7 on one table and 5 on another. A number of other tables were clearly not one household either. So we were uncomfortable and won't be returning until this is over.

Bones left in food and not so much as an apology. We where not offered the fruit and ice cream at the end of our banquet we left without it. Kept waiting for far too long to order drinks or food whilst watching takeaways flying out of the door. Regular faces walked in after us and where tucking into their food before we had even been able to order. The wall directly next to my seat had old stains that had not been cleaned and the grease on the food was disgusting. That is not a sauce on the picture just grease. Chicken satay was very salty. Wouldn’t recommend. Good Customer service skills might have saved the day but unfortunately I feel robbed of £80

Normally try to get here once or twice a month. food is very good and cannot complain at all. the only gripe would be the Lager sometimes tastes as if the lines have not been cleaned often.

Speedy service and the food was to exceptional

I had singapore noodles, that were very bland, and my wife ordered vegetarian chow mein, which had chicken in it. When we called the lady suggested that my wife ordered chicken Chow mein, now why would when the vegetarian ordered the food order a chicken one ??, then suggested we came back in 50 mins for another one because they were busy. We wont be going back !

First time using this restaurant (takeaway) we are regulars at the Cherry Tree. Sadly will be the last time. So overpriced and the meal was edable - best I can say...
