The best restaurants in Kendal Highgate South Lakeland North West

Excellent little find ! We walked the full length of the high street and came upon this lovely little place. We had tuna salad and a tuna panini - cup of tea and a bottle of orange juice. Both fantastic ! Would definitely visit again when in the area.

Always good food whatever time I go to Fab Coffee. Breakfast or lunch, it’s always great. A varied menu, everything cooked to order, and wonderful people. I eat here regularly.

Great place for a pint with a view and a bite to eat. Fantastic place to hold your party or private event in this large space. I have been to several events held here and the food has been outstanding

Came here after reading the reviews. Really enjoyed what we had (full breakfast and bacon barm), excellent coffee and friendly service - would visit again.

Amazing. We came before opening asking if they allow dogs, they do and said we could come in 3 mins early so we were the first to order. The service was lovely, quick and happy to have a chat. The food was also amazing. 10/10, will be coming back.

Spent three nights here, lovely accommodation great staff, great food, recommend to anyone. Owners and staff couldn't do enough to help.

Very nice fish was lovely cooked in a light crispy batter and cooked fresh the chips was slightly crispy texture outside and fluffy on the inside very friendly staff service was very good

First I went to Pizza Express, it was 16:45 on a Saturday afternoon and they turned me away because they were too busy even though there were only about 5 people in there. Thank goodness they did! I found this gem of a restaurant instead. They were happy to fit me in without a booking and the staff were lovely and welcoming. The wine was chilled and the pizza was absolutely delicious. Ditch the chain restaurants and come here instead. You won't regret it!

Lovely place and it's a lot bigger than it looks inside. The people working there were lovely and gave great service. The food was beautiful. We would definitely eat there again.

Stopped to have a tea, latte and a slice of carrot cake. Great service and a huge slice of cake that we shared. Great value for money.

AVOID!! This is possibly the worst cafe I have ever been in. As someone previously noted, you can’t see in from the outside so you’ve no idea what you’ve committed to. The building itself is quaint, 17th century. We sat at the window. The window sill was covered in cobwebs. We ordered the afternoon tea which came with shop bought cakes one of the chocolate buns (cupcake would be an exaggeration) was mouldy. When we pointed this out to the owner there was no apology just a look of disdain. She returned with a strawberry one instead “just in case”. There is an abundance of eateries in Kendal - this venue should be considered a last resort!!

Habiéndome alojado en un hotel cercano donde mis solicitudes vegetarianas fueron atendidas con una mirada desconcertada o totalmente ignorada, fue genial encontrar este lugar en el Crooklands Hotel. Mucha variedad, comida bellamente presentada, ingredientes frescos y un personal encantador que sirve. Regresamos la noche siguiente porque estaba muy bien. ¡Ojalá nos hubiéramos quedado aquí!

Fabulous spot. Very welcoming staff! Would be nice if, during colder months the fire could be lit. Went to a fab 50th party too here last year!
