The best restaurants serving British food in Kendal Highgate South Lakeland North West

I usually rate this cafe very highly on customer service and produce. I work in a very popular cafe and know how difficult it can be sometimes. However, I was meeting friends so chose the sofa at the back. We needed to add a chair but there were plenty spare. When my friendd husband chose a chair the waitress rushed over and said you can't do that and basically turfed us out, saying you will have to go sonewhere else! My friends and I did not like her abrupt manner and very quickly left the cafe.

Went with my mother and stepfather. Starters were fine as was the wine. When mains came, my stepfather was brought a pizza instead of pasta. When we raised this the server turned and took a deep breath as if containing his anger. The staff were generally polite but condescending tones were prevalent. I won't go back again.

Came here after reading the reviews. Really enjoyed what we had (full breakfast and bacon barm), excellent coffee and friendly service - would visit again.

Habiéndome alojado en un hotel cercano donde mis solicitudes vegetarianas fueron atendidas con una mirada desconcertada o totalmente ignorada, fue genial encontrar este lugar en el Crooklands Hotel. Mucha variedad, comida bellamente presentada, ingredientes frescos y un personal encantador que sirve. Regresamos la noche siguiente porque estaba muy bien. ¡Ojalá nos hubiéramos quedado aquí!

Spent three nights here, lovely accommodation great staff, great food, recommend to anyone. Owners and staff couldn't do enough to help.

Don’t seem to stick to opening times or opening days. maybe time to update opening times, absolute joke!

Had valentines dinner here with my wife & had an incredible dining experience. We opted for the Tomahawk steak off the Valentines menu and were blown away with quality & taste. Absolutely stunning dinner topped off with a lovely evening enjoying local beers! . 10/10

A classic wetherspoons in the heart of the Lake District

Where out buying some parts for a tractor in the same village of Levens. We arrived early, arriving a 11.40, and they dont serve food until noon so we had coffee to start and our orders were taken at 12. I noticed while waiting that the had a "Pie of the Day", which today was Steak, Kidney and mushroom filling. My friend and I both ordered the same, it was an unexpected experience. Beautiful light pastry and filled with "proper" stewing steak, beef kidney and button mushrooms, with an assortment of vegetables. To go along with the friendly service which made it a lovely experience. Thank you to the staff at the gilpin bridge Inn. Later in the year I will return.
