I had dinner in the Jules Restaurant on Saturday with my Husband, Parents and Father in Law. The food was lovely, I had the Duck Pancakes to start and I must say you wont go hungry, I wasn't sure I would be able to fit my main in, but when the salmon came out I couldn't resist. The Salmon was cook perfect, a little crispy on top and the sauce was beautiful, I'm never sure about prawn sauce unless I have made it myself but I couldn't fault it. The whole partly enjoyed their meals, there was plenty of food on the plates and I cant fault the service from the staff they were all very nice. The only disappointment for me was I couldn't fit a desert in!!

Stayed here with our golfing group a party of eight on a golfing break organised by the hotel. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the quality was excellent, they have great chefs. All of the staff were friendly and attentive. The manager Vivek was very informative and helpful and we have already booked for 12 next June. I could certainly recommend this restaurant and Hotel for anyone who appreciates great food. Fylde Coast Golfers

Very good meal here with a group of others, we ate in the bar area but could choose from a good menu (not sure if it is the same as the restaurant) plus specials. The outside doesn't inspire confidence but it was fine inside and the staff were friendly, helpful & efficient.

Excellent, good value meal. We met some friends and enjoyed pre lunch drinks by the cheery fire before moving upstairs to the restaurant. Choice of 4 roast meats and then self service for the veg. Superb roast potatoes served at the table. No room for a dessert! Returned to the fire for coffees.

My husband and another couple often meet here for lunch. It is midway between our homes. We have been meeting here for the last few years, and we have never had a bad meal yet. The service is great, the food is fantastic with plenty of choice. The staff are brilliant, and very attentive. One of the waitresses, Janet, is such a character, very dry wit and humour. My husband and my friend's husband wind her up something terrible, but she takes it in good fun and can give as good as she gets. Would recommend this place definitely.

I planned a surprise birthday party for family and close friends for my husband's birthday, and having eaten at the crooklands on several other occasions this seemed an ideal venue for a birthday Sunday lunch as some family were travellling some distance from yorkshire and oxfordshire the crooklands is very easy to find. The staff who helped plan the event were very helpful they had suggested getting everyone's choices from the cavery menu in advance to save time on the day. The menu was very varied and even though i had to ring several times to update menu requests and a couple of late minute changes the lady i dealt with was so helpful. The party itself went off really well and was a complete surprise, the food was excellent the staff were on hand and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day with lots of compliments about the food. I would certainly reccomend crooklands to anyone planning an event. Many thanks to all the staff for a lovely day

A Party of eight of us called in for a lunchtime meal and were given a private area in the restaurant. The menu choices were very good ranging from the menu of the day, through their Bistro Choices as well as the "al la carte" Our Party went for choices from all three options and all reported the food to be of very good quality. I chose fish and chips which were to die for. Succulent. fish coated in a very thin but crispy batter. Their choice of sweet courses was good but I desisted as I was well and truly over full from my fish course. We were well looked after by both the bar and restaurant staff. If you are in the area you must give it a try

I've eaten here before and enjoyed it but this was a special occasion with my brother/wife travelling over 300 miles just to share a meal that was down to me to recommend so I was a bit nervous that it was as good as I remembered. I needn't have worried, the food was tasty, portions good, service was excellent and my brother was pleasantly surprised at the price. Thank you, I'll be back.

Always come on Friday at lunchtime. The menu is very good and caters for all tastes. Friday13 June saw me try the Friday fish and chips.....I was disappointed because it seemed a stingy bit of fish inside quite a lot of batter! Shall not make the same mistake again...you cannot really beat The Fisherman in Settle for fish and chips, I don't know why I was lulled into a false sense of culinary security! Everything else was fine and the brandy snap basket with raspberries really good. Coffee very strong. Waiting staff always keen to get it right and pleased to see us as regular customers. We like the cosy atmosphere of dining in the cottage restaurant .

Just had another Sunday lunch at crooklands a thourghly enjoyable lunch. We were a party including babies and children and our seating was perfect. The food was very tasty, most of the party choose from the cavery which was plentiful. The service was very good the staff asked several times if everything was ok. Have had sunday lunch, several evening meals and attended an Xmas party at this venue and can highly reccomend, also the accomodation is very good. There are different menus at different prices to suit all. The whole layout is modern comfortable and relaxing whether just having lunch or over night stay. The staff should be very proud of their product keep it up will definately be back

Mother's Day 2014. We hadn't booked, we were seated immediately.menu didn't inspire us but we ordered 3 courses each after much time spent choosing something that actually sounded nice. Starters - incorrect but waitress dumped them & ran off before we could tell her. Took me 5 minutes wandering around the restaurant to find someone to help me. Correct starters were delivered. both rubbish. A further 15 minutes waiting for someone to pass by to ask for more drinks.our empty glasses and empty starter plates were left on our small table until we eventually asked another waitress passing by to move them. Mains - hot chicken baguette - grim and left it but ate the wedges which were overcooked but tasty enough (not fresh - packet). Other main - chicken strips and chips - all overcooked and tasted of old, rancid fat, all v dark brown. again plates not cleared, empty glasses left, no one to ask for another drink, went to the bar myself to get drinks. Pudding - all frozen and bought in, so disappointed after we especially asked if the puddings were nice. Absolute rubbish, I left mine, the other pudding was eaten. again no one to clear plates, table still full of empty glasses.served by 4 different people overall, told 3 of them we weren't happy with our food and nothing was done.To pay the bill - had to walk around restaurant and find someone to help mewaitress taking my money asked was everything all right, I said we'd not had a particularly nice time and didn't enjoy the food - she answered with 'I'd believe you if you hadn't both cleared your plates' to which I told her she was a cheeky madam and had better not speak to me like that again. All our plates were returned with most of the inedible food still on them. she replied 'Oh well I didn't know' so I suggested she refrained from pretending to know all about my dining experience and keep her uninformed, rude opinions to herself. Overheard an elderly couple at the bar asking to pay their bill - said they'd been waiting 40 minutes for dessert to arrive and wanted to leave. Heard manager saying he had an 80th, some other party, 130 upstairs etc and was so busy... as though this would pacify all the complaints people were making. He did nothing to make it right with any of them. We left feeling rinsed (oh yes, it's really rather expensive to eat this fast, packet food), insulted and sick (food is that bad). I advise anyone to think carefully about eating here, if you're being served by a blonde lady with a pierced tooth be warned, she is extremely rude.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wasn't that impressed by this 'restaurant'. Its fine if all you want is a pub meal served in a restaurant-type room, but the menu is unadventurous and has little sign of a chef's personality. The food is OK - you couldn't really be offended by it (unless you find the pasta sauce far too salty) but it is neither interesting nor memorable and its pretty expensive for what you get - I suppose you have to pay for the close access to the motorway or the large car park? Service is pleasant and efficient, chairs are comfortable ..... but its a shame that this is what so many people call excellent

There is something slightly odd about this place, but I think it adds to its charm. The staff are always friendly and the food is always really nice (and large portions!) You can sit and eat in the small bar area or in the larger restaurant. Loads of parking, loads of food to choose from, we have now been several times and nothing has put us off going back. Ony problem is that they don't serve the full menu all day, but can do some sandwiches outside of food service times. Child friendly too.

Closest restaurant to our rented cottage in Endmoor, near Kendal. Phoned three times to book a table but no response to any call. Went anyway and got the only available table for two.A pretty non-exciting menu although some unusual items. As a starter I chose a risotto made with feta cheese and olives. Tasted of little except when I ate one of the three olives. The cheese had all melted and lost its flavour in the fairly solid rice. We both chose pork medallions in a mushroom sauce. These turned out to be thin dry slices of pork in a sauce. Pretty unappetising. The neighbouring table was now full with a party of 14 - Farmers and their wives? They were noisy and boisterous - not their fault but we could not speak to each other. An altogether unexciting meal. Service was fair if slightly works canteen style.

I didn't stay overnight here, but I came here with my brother, sister-in-law, two nieces and my partner for their Sunday carvery. It was very well priced, and very good food too. There was four meats to select from and I opted for a bit of each and the carver was more than generous with the portions. The staff were friendly and made sure my nieces were well looked after - with free ice cream for dessert too!The drinks were very pricey though.

Ate here for the first time at weekend as it was walking distance from our site.Service was very good and the food was also of a decent quality - in fact my Husband declared it was the best mixed grill he'd ever had. BUT ... My gripe is with the place itself. It's quite strange. It's a mixture of odd rooms. A small bar area (which isn't very inviting - more like a waiting room) and 2 restaurant sections - one at the front and one at the rear.We ate in the latter, which I suppose you could call an atrium ? Lighting is very .. erm bright and the decor is contempary and 80's inspired. It seems to be located next to Reception too which means it's a thoroughfare and wedding guests from the hotel ambled past the table all night on the way to their rooms.I think this atrium dining area would be better suited to a group party rather than individual dining tables. They were that close together I actually felt like I was intruding on the next couple. The bar area could also have been quite cosy if the fire had been lit and there were stools at the bar maybe. We would have stuck around for another drink had it been more inviting.Good food and lovely service, but at the prices charged they really need to improve the surroundings and dining experience.

On a day trip comprising some 120 plus individuals the Crooklands Hotel managed to serve us with either steak & kidney pie or fish, accompanied with chips, peas & carrots. Then a dessert of either trifle or ice cream followed by tea or coffee in approx 1 hour 10minutes. The plates were hot as was the food & very good it was too - Impressive that they coped with such a large party - Actually this is the second visit we have paid to Crooklands wholly based on our pleasant experience forst time around...nice to see that they are maintaining their high standards.Would recommend popping in if you are on way to Kendal, Lakes area.Enjoy!!

We came here for a birthday meal for the Sunday carvery, the bar staff greated us in an friendly manor one young man stood out from them all, I'm afraid to say they were the only nice staff there. We had a table in a back room witch was painted a sickly lime green, it wasn't very welcomeing at all. We waited a while for our order to be taken. The carvery chef was very rude and made some insulting jokes to members of the party, and half the party had a yorkshire pud and the other half didn't, unsure why. Overall the food was nice. As we blew the candles out on the cake, one very rude member of staff ask if we were cutting the cake, when we said we were saving it for later as we were all stuffed she rudely said that she wanted some and we was just teasing her and the rest of the staff. I'm not being funny but who said they could have some anyway? She kept on commenting on was we keep the cake till next year ect. Not a good way to end a meal, we are no way near posh or stuck up but she was just plain weird. We left the hotel full but not impressed.

I was looking for somewhere nice to eat for Sunday lunch with extended family which we had not seen for some time. I had booked a table for 9 for the Sunday carvery and was disappointed to be given a table upstairs in a back room with few windows and no view. The food was very average and overpriced at £13 per head for the carvery. I've enjoyed a better carvery at my local pub for £7 on a Sunday. The person carving the meat was rude & miserable and found the rest of the staff to be quite unfriendly, apart from the lads behind the bar downstairs who were nice.We only came to this hotel for a meal and therefore cannot comment on the accommodation.

All washed down with a delightful glass of rose wine. We will definitely be returning. It was such a great culinary treat.

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
