Superb hot chocolate and such a wide range. Named after Lakeland mountains. I had a 49% strength called Raise. Lovely with a damson chocolate brownie.

Very good experience and the range of the hot chocolates is amazing! Good service and good food. The orders came quickly and the service is good. The wallpaper and design of Kakaw is incredible.

The cafe is nice, as are the hot chocolates but the staff are rude, unfriendly and not welcoming. Speak to you like you’re an idiot, don’t explain the menu and ruined the visit. Wouldn’t return.

The drinks were excellent but the service was surly, bordering on hostile. The person in sole charge was curt and unfriendly. They should invest in customer care. Vibe killed. Negative experience.

Called in for a coffee and we were served by a friendly, young lady. We were made very welcome - coffee was superb and next time we will try the chocolate. Lovely, welcoming atmosphere.

Been here lots since it opened, solo, as a couple, and with friends! Dog friendly. So many options for hot chocolate strengths from the sweet ones I like up to 100%! Al named after the wainwright fells which is a nice touch! I always get the vegan marshmallows (so nice to have veggie option), my only complaint is that I wish you got more in a serving!

Visited over the weekend with my husband and pooch. Really beautiful little coffee/hot choc shop. The lady serving (sorry i forgot your name) was really welcoming, polite and helpful in us choosing the right chocolate for us; we even got to sample a little nib before deciding. The chocolate was really tasty and served in a lovely quirky mug. Our dog was also welcomed and given a big bowl of water. We would definitely visit again; i can wait to work through the selection. I had the catsye cam chocolate at 60% which was really nice, and my husband had the white side chocolate which was really sweet and creamy. really pleased we found this little gem.

If you are looking for coffee, hot chocolate or mocha in the Kendal area then Kakaw has the very best. They keep things simple here no sandwiches and few cakes but what they do provide is second to none. Chocolate choice is very varied with over 20 different varieties and strengths available each described on boards behind the bar. During the recent hot weather I have tried their chocolate milk shake and it really is the best chocolate milk shake I’ve ever had. Service is always very friendly and it is a great place to spend a little time with a hot or cold drink watching the world go by.

Kakaw serve truly fabulous coffee and chocolate. We thought we would visit last weekend and were delighted with the ‘sweetness’ of the coffee, and a truly legendary mocha made with 54% (Esk Pike) chocolate. Kakaw create their own chocolate at different levels of intensity. The cafe does not look particularly special from outside; the furniture is quite brutalist, the wall mounted menu not all that clear to see what they do, the lighting not very bright…but do not let any of these put you off. If you like good coffee/chocolate this cafe is a rare gem!

Stopped to have a tea, latte and a slice of carrot cake. Great service and a huge slice of cake that we shared. Great value for money.

I would like to offer 5 stars specifically for the quality and portion size of our food. The Cavendish is tucked down a narrow cobbled street through a stone archway and is beautifully picturesque. With a couple of smaller tables out front and a huge, well appointed beer garden at the rear where you may also have your meal. We sat indoors on good heavy furniture and an extremely rustic table that matched the condition of the roof beams which are obviously hundreds of years old. Although cozy inside it did not feel "Dark" or stuffy. Our service girls were just attentive enough and very pleasant to speak with. The 2 gents that appeared to be running the show were a little more flustered. The scenery from the back garden was particularly nice with trees in bloom and the church tower just visible too. It was quite expensive but the Steak pie was outstanding and I am sure the shortcrust pastry was homemade and quite filling. My wife chose the salmon fillet with salad and found it also very well presented and cooked but found the chilled rice quite odd and un palletable to her taste. I would definitely reccomend the Cavendish to family.

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
