I can tell how good it is from the pictures

One of the pizzas was not what I ordered, The Nutella pizza had onions and Mozzarella on it, absolutely disgusting. The rest of the order was very poor quality too, overpriced for the quality of the food. The service was very poor, I stood there waiting to be served, being completely ignored by at least 5 staff. I will not use this take away again. Food was horrible.

This was our last visit of the year and we took friends for their first visit. They were very impressed. As always a lovely atmosphere, great staff (Mike we love you!). The food was really good as always too. BUT!!! I was a bit disappointed with the menu this time. Chicken burger, fish & chips?? Not what I’d come to expect. Where was the lively trio of pork and other more adventurous dishes that we’ve had in the past? £24 for a chicken burger was a tad excessive where as you don’t mind paying higher prices for more chefy dishes! I don’t want food that I can make at home or get down my local pub. It was still great though! See you next year!!

Excellent food. Great gluten and dairy free optiond Really friendly staff. Lovely tea room and shop sold lots beatiful thing cards, cloths, Bags,sweat, Kitchen wear, biscuits,ice cream Great quality.

Had a nice meal here on a Monday evening. Sat outside to make the most of the sun. Thought it was a little expensive but everything was tasty

Good customer service ,smooth check in . Rooms were clean

This sweet little pub was a brilliant find. A great choice on menu. If all the food is as good as our meal it's a must if you are in the area. Greystoke looks like a very nice village too.

Stopped for lunch and ordered what seemed to be the signature fish. The Whitby Whale aka fish n chips As the bane suggests it was large and looked impressive when served but inside the fish was pretty tasteless and very greasy A Whale sized dissapointed !! At over twice the price and half the quality of my local fish n chip shop Maybe a place to avoid The staff seemed pretty indifferent to my disappoint too

Lovely little cafe in the pleasing village of Orton. Bacon, sausage, hash brown, tomato, mushrooms and beans all for the very reasonable price of £7….. and it was all good quality and very tasty. The staff were also very friendly and we had a good chat.

I had the most perfect sausage and bacon roll this morning, my guilty pleasure when I‘m in town first thing It’s always freshly prepared by the loveliest staff. I confess I’ve never been at lunchtime, but I wish I had, the options look amazing .

Popped in for a brew and a bite to eat. The cheese savoury sandwich was fantastic. The softest white bread, a savoury mix to die for with lovely slaw and plenty of crisps. When it's right, it's right. Great friendly service, so thanks to all.

Dropped in at the end of our hike. Very friendly, great quality tea with a pot of hot water given automatically and no need to ask. Excellent home made cake. Great value for money, especially regarding it is the lakes. For two people we e paid more for just the cakes elsewhere.

What an amazing stay we had here at love lady shield. Everything was spot on. We had a lovely tour of the hotel from our host when we first checked in, so many charming rooms to relax at your leisure. With books and games to entertain. Our charming room was very clean and had the most amazing view of the grounds. Literally could have sat at my window all day looking out at the beautiful view. We had a family evening meal and I can honestly say I’ve never had a nicer meal. The arancini was gorgeous and my salmon was cooked to perfection. All beautifully presented. My mum opted for the chicken and she said it was delicious. And the melt in the middle chocolate pudding was to die for! Even the kids meals came out were impressive and a really good portion. Breakfast lived up to our expectations from our evening meal. With a selection of cereals, pastries, fruit, yogurt, jams, drinks and an amazing variety of teas and coffee. But the main event was the full English. Again beautifully arranged on the plate and cooked to perfection. We decided to take away our afternoon tea for after our walk along to Alston, which wasn’t a problem at all. Everything thing was again beautifully prepared and so yummy and fresh. A massive shout out to the staff here. They all were so attentive and very friendly. I will be recommending to come here. And definitely be back. Thanks for an amazing stay.

Excellent food and service in a restaurant which was very busy on a Friday night - great atmosphere without being too noisy - thoroughly recommend.
