The Beehive Inn - Penrith in Eden

Booked a table for a Saturday evening the 5/4/25 for my family 4 adults 2 grandchildren aged 10 and 8. The staff were excellent and the food was excellent we all finished with clean plates. Atmosphere I gave 1 star only because of the loud foul mouthed punter stood at the bar with a bald head and one leg, who continually swore every other word with a raised voice, now I can swear with the best of them, but there’s a time and place for this, in front of women and children in a family eating pub is not the place. I do think the owner or the staff should have took control of this, everyone in the pub could hear it, now he might be a regular who spends a lot of money in the pub and we’re just visiting but I can assure you if I walk in again and there’s a bald one legged man stood in the bar I walk straight back out, especially if I have my grandkids with me, I suggest anyone with kids do the same.

Great wee local pub, the staff were brilliant and so friendly. Great food and selection of drinks. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 was because the outside area at the back looked like a disaster area but it was obviously still getting a face lift.

We called into the Beehive today we haven’t been down since October and was glad we did! Service great and the food was perfect. We had a gammon steak and a small scampi and will certainly be back.

We were very impressed with how child friendly it is. When we arrived, there were some activities ready on the table for the children with more available for them to go and choose further into the building. The toilets were brilliantly set up for children with toilet seat inserts, stools and a baby change in both the men's and women's. The food was good, chips were piping hot and very tasty although my sister found her burger to be a bit on the dry side (I thought mine was fine). Staff were friendly and helpful. I'd happily return if I'm up in Penrith again

Fantastic place to eat, looks can be deceiving, the place looks like an average pub, but the food was really nice and there was a lot of it, the fish i had, was bigger than the plate it was on. And my wife had the Cumberland sausage, she managed all 12" 😉, but couldn't eat all the chips

Despite arriving just as they were stopping lunch service we were made welcome. We all had the pensioners specials which are smaller portions, perfect for those of us with smaller appetites. Well presented and very tasty. Service was friendly and prompt.

Nice staff, food was slightly slow in arriving (but to be fair, we were not there at peak service).Food a little too salty, but that seems to be the Scottish way based on other more recent experiences. Nice drinks. £ reasonable Seniors meals). Easy parking.

Good food in outdoor space, indoor seating too. Busy car park even in march but we found a space. Dog friendly. Vegetarian options, food was mixed, Cumberland sausage maybe a miss for next time but mac & cheese and fish were great.

Great for a pub lunch, been twice now. Staff are lovely and so are the chips.

Swung in after a recommendation from a mate. Glad I did. Relaxed, comfy atmosphere, great food (Cumberland Sausage..... amazing) quality pint. What a cracking spot. Will be back for more

Friendly pub, very busy for a weekday lunchtime. Friendly staff, good choice of pub food, large portions, pensioners meals great value and smaller portions for kids. Also a reasonable selection of vegetarian food. Very child friendly - toys and highchairs available. Also dog friendly. Plenty of parking, good meeting point for people coming from different directions. Paid a deposit when booking as there were a few of us and needed a large table. Lost some of my deposit as a couple of people couldn't make it, which I thought was a little unfair as we hadn't pre-ordered and spent a lot of money on 2 courses each

We had pensioners meals at lunchtime and all our meals were lovely. We will definitely go back. There was a lovely log fire 🔥 and it was cosy. Great friendly staff and good service.

We have been for many meals, and have never been disappointed, four of us have just been for a pensioners festive meal, and it surpassed all expectations, far better than a meal we had recently at a larger hotel, and cheaper, not one of our party could give a negative comment. The food was hot, well cooked and, although a pensioners meal, adequate amount, coupled with the other two courses plus mince pie and coffee. The main meal contained five types of vegetables which were fresh (not frozen) and very tasty. An excellent meal, very good value served by friendly staff, well worth a visit.

My wife and I took our 3 children here for a meal and enjoyed a couple of games of pool and darts. The food was average pub food. The staff were lovely and friendly. The pub is small and cozy with a steady flow of regular patrons passing through.

The Bee Hive is a great pub for families , there are loads of toys inside for kids to play with, child friendly Tv and a great playground outside for them. It can be quite stressful going out for meals with children and this pub really caters for them , both the men’s and women’s toilet have changing tables with nappies there to use and lots of toiletries for ladies. There is lots of outdoor seating for nice days and a pool table indoors . Good range on the menu and the food is tasty and home cooked , really good chips and portions are a good size . Friendly staff , welcoming atmosphere and we will all be going back again!

An incredible Sunday roast… just absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend The Beehive Inn. Staff were really accommodating and so lovely. A really friendly atmosphere.

Nice and handy for lowther Estate, large garden.

We came early on a Wednesday evening, on a break to Penrith, and the staff were really friendly. The tables were clean and the food was hot and delicious. The chips were fresh and not from frozen. The food was very good value for money with reasonable prices and large portions. The toilets were spotless, and had a stocked nappy changing station and period products. It was fairly quiet but to be expected for the time of day, and the other customers were locals drinking or playing pool. There is also a log fire and car park.

Well unfortunately not positive for myself and 3 friends. After arriving here for our lunch I went in to ask for a menu, after waiting a few minutes to be acknowledged and waited for 2 staff to finish their conversation. Asked for the menu, staff went to look for one then came back and said have you booked a table, I replied no we’re just in the garden as we have dogs with us, went to look again for a menu and then came back and said taking no walk in a you could try over the road No apologies , so back in 2 cars to old one some where else One staff member obviously thought this was quite funny However Cross Keys half a Mile away was beautiful With friendly staff and dog friendly

Was heading back north to Scotland and stayed in Penrith to break up the journey. Randomly chose The Beehive Inn for a meal on the last night of our holiday. We were not disappointed! The food was freshly cooked and thoroughly enjoyed by all our party. Plenty locals were there on a Monday night and it felt a very comfortable place to be. The staff were friendly too. I highly recommend the Honeycomb cheesecake after your meal😁👌

Called in for a couple of burgers on the Bank Holiday. Undercooked, green chips, and really poor quality, cheap tasting meat in the burgers. I'd have been unhappy if I'd paid £7 for the burger from a snack wagon, nevermind £15/16.

Food was really good and friendly staff but kids running riot and causing carnage was really annoying. I know this isn't the staffs fault but you could sense it was pissing everyone off.

Called in early doors midweek and was surprisingly busy. Good atmosphere and Staff were super efficient and friendly. Had the steak pie and chips and it was very nice. Good old Pub food done well Would call again if in the area

Wonderful pub which is just off the the A6 and well worth turning off for. Loads of charm and character. Nice staff and good hearty meals. If it's good weather you have the option of eating and drinking outside. Loads of bits for children to play with including a small park.

What a lovely popular pub, nice food with excellent service, a short but lovely menu with genuine food served on time, fish in beer batter was great and a nice range of drinks. Parking free and plenty of room and out door entertainment for kids.

Saturday quiet lunchtime for 2. Warmish welcome. Ordered food and waited 35+ mins for food to arrive- noticed others received theirs first. Average food. Big portions. Big deal! Seemed disorganised despite 4 people trying to run the bar and food. Also there’s a problem with flies - swarming around indoors as we ate ( quickly) and left.

What a great place to go for excellent food and hospitality, a group of us lads from Ireland 🇮🇪 visited over a weekend period in early June, their hospitality knows no bounds, nothing is a problem, down to earth people every one of them, the crack was ninety, we will be visiting again next Appleby fair , best wishes to Sophie and Family till we meet again! All the lads from Dublin 🇮🇪

Don’t bother. Me and my husband went for a meal. Ordered gammon chips with egg. It came with pineapple as well as the egg. The gammon was not cooked properly and still had water oozing out of it!! The chips were re cooked and half of them were bad. It was the worst meal we have ever eaten!! Walked out half way through as we couldn’t finish it. Will never go there again!

Called in for a quick bite to eat on the way to Whinfell Forest Center Parks. Good selection of lager and ales on tap. Had the small portion fish and chips and it was more than enough and good quality. Proper chips aswell, not frozen. Fantastic beer garden and play area for kids aswell.

I had fish and chips which looked a really good portion, unfortunately the fish was wafer thin and it was all batter.

We called in just to see if we could bring our dogs in after our lovely walk. Very welcoming, lovely atmosphere and the food was outstanding. The ladies bathroom was immaculate not just the basics for ladies toilets but lovely presentation every thing you could possibly need to freshen up. Baby changing unit too. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Even fresh flowers on the windowsills.

Popped in hoping to get a table for four without booking and they welcomed us in without issue. It was busy but the food service was quick and it was lovely. Good size carpark and dog friendly, absolutely nothing to complain about!

Was down at the Fire Fighters Charity centre for a bit of R&R, My partner and I went to the Beehive on several occasions over the period of the week and It was brilliant, the staff and friendly and helpful, the foods outstanding and the Guiness was just right, Hoping to be back down in the summer and visit the guys.

Been several times this year already very good value food and drinks and nice fire !

First visit here passing through en route north. Warm welcome, lady behind the bar was friendly. Log fire on the go, decent food portions, football on TV at low volume and fair prices....what more does one need! Would recommend 👍

Popped in on the way to a cottage we was staying in for a couple of beers and some food. Home made chip buttie (proper chips) and Ham barm where both excellent as was the Guinness and Moretti. Excellent service by the bar maid and the atmosphere was great.

Booked a table for 18 for a Sunday lunch while staying at center parcs. What a fab pub , staff couldn't have been more accommodating and lovely home cooked food at competitive prices. If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend.

We found this place by accident, and honestly I'm not sure we would have gone if my missus didn't like the name, however this was next level. The burgers were phenomenal. The bar staff were great, nice cosy fire. Will go back again.

Great service and a nice chilled atmosphere. Some of the food was excellent like the halloumi and the onion rings, but some left me feeling a bit stung by the price tag. I ordered a Crispy Chicken Burger and it was literally just a crispy chicken fillet on a dry bun. No sauce or salad. It would be different if it was 'cheap and cheerful' - but the food is not cheap considering the low standard.

The most hospitable restaurant I’ve ever been to! from the amazing wait staff to the children’s play area outside. Everything was so thoughtful and intentional to be accommodating. We were just passing through on a road trip with our 2 and 4 yr olds. We got steak pies and the spaghetti for the kids. Food was amazing! But I just can’t stop thinking about how kind and great everything else was. The playground outside had everything - this place would be our #1 spot if we lived here!! Don’t hesitate if you’re looking for: good drinks, good food, kid-friendly, hospitality, and much more!!

Penshioners lunch ... awful! Cold food, cold plates, lukewarm coffee, heating poor, table dirty. but cheap.

Probably the worst pub lunch I have ever had, poor presentation, over cooked food, just awful…half way through trying to eat the meal a swarm of wasps appeared….avoid, the food is dreadful.

My wife and I went with our friends who have been before to watch rugby league on 8/9/23 ,the manageress was so helpful sorting the TVs out for us as it was very busy (thank you, sorry I didn't get you name),live music in the other room which sounded great, proper old fashioned pub atmosphere 👍👍👍👍

Decent grub and nice people, the atmosphere was a bit lacking, but it was a Tuesday afternoon. Lots of handwritten "no drugs" signs which isn't the nicest decor choice.

Lovely stop for lunch while out walking, most people were out in the garden so quiet inside. Very welcoming.

I was a bit skeptical given the outside appearance of the pub, and it is a bit dated inside too, but the service was spot on, and the food (Sunday dinner) was top draw, at a good price. Would definitely stop here for food again.

Food was alright but burger was not cooked through enough but other than that it was lovely!! The girls that work here are very polite when taking food and drinks orders. However there was a big bald man that is a local and regular drinker here who had vulgar language so wouldn’t advise bringing young children, he really brought the atmosphere down and we couldn’t talk without him shouting during his conversations…… would have been a lot better if he wasn’t there

Not good on food and service, meals were mediocre from frozen or tins and staff were grumpy. Better off with Weatherspoons, sadly disappointed ☹️.

Great place for a pint and some food. We stopped on our way back to the caravan for a drink and a light lunch. Our kids found the big beer garden great with all the toy ride on cars. The park also went down a treat. The food was nice. I would recommend if you are in the area.

Stopped for food on our way home from a few days walking in the Lake District. Friendly welcoming team with attentive service. Good traditional pub food and great that it is dog friendly, always a bonus for us as we regularly travel with our pooch.
