Dropped in at the end of our hike. Very friendly, great quality tea with a pot of hot water given automatically and no need to ask. Excellent home made cake. Great value for money, especially regarding it is the lakes. For two people we e paid more for just the cakes elsewhere.

Very nice place for refreshments on our walk. The Flapjack was beautiful, I enjoyed it that much I bought some to take home. Very friendly Lady behind the counter who told us about how she made it with a friend. Thanks very much.

Found this delightful cafe at the end of a long walk round Ullswater lake. We had got the steamer from Glenridding to Howtown and walked up and down the hills. We were in need of cold drinks and ice cream as a hot day. Customers were enjoying cups of tea on the tables outside. Just what we needed !

We passed through Side Farm around 3pm on Sunday 19 June. Tea Room closed and looked not to have been open on the day. Poor internet info on opening hours. Luckily we ate at Glenridding before trekking on to Howtown, but we would have liked to have had a break here. Conclusion: don’t rely on it being open without confirmation.

Whilst walking from Glenridding to Howtown on the Ullswater Way during the heatwave of this summer we came upon the tea room , it was a sight for sore eyes we never knew it existed but the staff were very friendly and the food and drink were of a high standard. B&B we found was also avaable and are planning on staying there on pur next visit. Top tea room with top staff. Excellent

Great home baking at probably the cheapest prices in the Lake District. You have to be daft to walk past without stopping. generous slices of cakes and tray bakes. One of the best tea rooms in the lakes.

After coming down off Place Fell and walking along Ullswater the tea room was a pleasant surprise. We had tea and large flapjacks which were very tasty and made a nice change from lukewarm water.

A small tea room located near the southern end of Ullswater and a level walk about 20 minutes from Glenridding. There's seating inside and out, the prices are reasonable and the cakes and pastries are generously sized and top quality. Okay, you can't actually see much of a view from the tea-shop but it's still a welcome oasis at the end of a long walk.

Found this by chance at the end of a walk over Place Fell. 5 teas ( various types ) and 5 cakes ( various ) all for just over £10 - excellent value. Each person got a pot of water and 2 tea bags, so you could just use one if you preferred. The cakes varied from big to very big and all very nice. You can sit munching your cake while you watch the next ones being mixed and baked. Definitely worth visiting again next time we are in the area.

We go to The Bridge about 4 times per year. We are not very extravagant but when we do eat out we want it to be better than I can make at home. Any guest we bring with us all love it too. Every meal we’ve had here has been excellent! My favourites are Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé, The Seafood Linguini, my hubby loves the Fish & Chips (he has this every time he goes, lol) . My son loves the Squid starter and I also love the Pate when it’s on. I had a gorgeous fish course in spring but I forget the name of the fish which was the whitest fish I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend Bridge Bistro.

If you like ice cream, you will love this place. Excellent range of superb ice cream at a very reasonable price. Great to be able to sit and enjoy it whilst looking over to the Pennines with the production team (Jersey cows) chomping away. Very friendly staff.

While looking for food we stumbled on this lucky find. The Bothy is a very welcoming themed cafe, due to most other venues in Kirby Stephen only serving drinks that day the bothy was busy but we still received a warm welcome and advised we would have a wait, we didn’t mind so placed our order. The food was different, not the cheapest but absolutely delicious, the staff even though very busy were so polite and kept us informed of progress with our order. A bit more of an offer for children would be a bonus.

Had an excellent early supper, starters were beautiful, good selection, tasty and well presented . The mains, steaks and a roast dinner were equally good. Substantial portions and cooked exactly to our specifications. We had delicious desserts and everything was complemented by some very good wines. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The chef obviously uses quality ingredients and is extremely competent . Lovely ambience, delicious supper.
