1st Visit since reopening and it didn’t disappoint. The food was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant was a little quiet but the staff were still attentive . Definitely recommend a visit lunch menu was reasonable priced .

We were staying in Gosforth for a long weekend with friends, and ordered some pizzas from the Wild Olive. Went in to collect them and the welcome and friendliness of the staff was exceptional. The pizza's were fantastic, really tasty and unusual toppings. We nearly went for the Wolive, but were more than happy with our choices. 10/10

A really great local pub and restaurant. We stopped here three times during our walking in The Lakes, once for food and twice for drinks after walking the fells. We always received a warm welcome and enjoyed the wide selection of brews. Food was great, high quality pub food that catered well for vegetarian and vegan options with everything accurately labelled. Lovely open fire place and great atmosphere with lots of people enjoying the food and ambience. Recommended.

Stopped off for lunch , I had a fish finger butty my husband had quiche. The young man that served us was exceptionally polite , however the food was of poor quality, the fish fingers were grey fish , I expected?? Homemade. They were tasteless , I asked for tartare sauce but they didn’t have any , my husband said the quiche was just about ok lots of salad leaves pilled high a quarter of tomato , plain and basic This place is set in a beautiful place we have been many times but unfortunately this time it wasn’t so good

Went to The Byre on recommendation today 6th February. Wish we could have tried the food and coffee to be able to leave a review. It was 3.05pm and we had been told it closed at 4pm. Whilst we were standing at the door a member of Staff came over and slyly put a hand up and hung a closed sign up in front of us then walked away. Wouldn't it have been more customer friendly to have spoken to us and say I'm sorry we are closed now. Or words to that effect. So disappointed as we visit the Lake District regularly and always look for different places to try. This cafe I'm sorry to say will not be one of them. Their attitude towards customers was abominable so don't deserve the trade.

I took family for lunch arriving at 11:45, who were here on holiday, we were greeted by surly man, perhaps chef/owner who said “we are not open yet, we don’t open till 12” baring in mind this was just 15 minutes away, I asked if we could just sit and wait… the response a resounding “NO” the rude individual proceeded to walk away back to the kitchen from where he came. End of conversation, end of custom, loss of £100.00 spent for a lovely lunch elsewhere at Lamplugh…

Edit: Still the best real ale pub here imho. Edit: Sunday 2nd June 2024 Excellent beers and excellent service continues, definitely my favourite pub! Edit: Monday 12th Feb 2024 More excellent beers! Edit: Thursday 9th November 2023: As real ales go, I really enjoyed the "Wonky Donkey" = Still excellent! New information: As of today, 19th August 2023 they have proper bottles of proper Coca-Cola too! Nice pub, great location, good selection of beers all of which are well looked after, tidy interior, clean glasses, ok selection of crisps / nuts, excellent range of comfy seating, friendly staff, good clean toilets. Useful info: Level access (I expect likely wheelchair friendly.) Good layout (I expect likely wheelchair friendly) Less than 100 metres to defibrillator on the harbour to the north. Bus stop close by (easily less than 50 metres and level) Fish and chips, Pizza, Kebabs, Indian Food, Chinese Food, Fried Chicken, Taxi Rank all available within 100 metres or so.

Amazing 3 night stay at the King William 1V inn Kirksanton Millom. We had been corresponding with Sam for a few weeks before our visit regarding breakfast, evening meal times etc so it was lovely to meet her in person . Our en suite room was warm, comfortable, very clean with beautiful fluffy towels, toiletries and coffee and tea making facilities. We had cooked breakfasts and evening meals during our stay which was freshly cooked with local ingredients , generous portions and beautifully presented and cooked by Sam. The T- bone steak was cooked perfectly, the Charcoal smashed burger was amazing and the breakfasts were generous and tasty. Very friendly inn, great atmosphere and we’re made to feel at home from both staff and the locals. Thank you to Sam and all her lovely team .. Chloe, Bella, Summer, Lucy and Ebony. You are all so professional and committed to the ‘Billi’ and that is something very rare these days. Please continue to grow your beautiful establishment, as you have a very special place here. You have made our stay so memorable. Rhian and Al ( Lincoln)
