Irton Hall in Copeland

Touring the west coast of Cumbria, needed a base to explore the area. Situated in a good location to explore the coast, go north, go south and inland, Irton Hall provided far more than we needed. Excellent plentyful food, good room, attentive staff and spacious grounds. Very good value for money and will certainly return.

Lovely stay and delicious breakfast, beautiful surroundings with large garden with peacocks chickens and geese, so cute!

Had a gorgeous meal during our stay. We had mussels to start, followed by the dover sole and salmon fillet….both were cooked to perfection 😋 The full English breakfast was also very good…loving the fact that you can add on black pudding or haggis 😍 I love haggis 😋 We will definitely be returning, couldn’t fault anything ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Booked a super last minute night here for such a brilliant price that we were a bit nervous what we were going to find. We arrived late, called ahead as per instructions and our room key and instructions were left as explained when I called. The room was just wonderful, nice and spacious, mini fridge, giant bed with fresh clean white sheets. Unbelievably- breakfast was included which was a top notch full English with all the trimmings! The were sad that we only had 1 night here and are looking for a reason to return. Thank you Mark and Kate - Somerset

Great location, shame about the staff and management. We had thw worst evening ever and to make it worse the management were unhelpful and didn't resolve our problem of disgusting gone off food.

We stayed for three nights in one of the self catering apartments. Certainly spacious, and the setting is fantastic. The apartment itself was very tired. The towels were great, the bed linen fine, and the mattresses horrendous. Really nasty. We ate in the bar on the first night and the food was very good. We had a good time, but this property could be so much better with a lick of paint and new mattresses.

Excellent. spotless toilets.shame the drinks a ridiculously expensive .£6.50 for a pint of I.p.a .and £3for a small bitter lemon

We stayed for 2 nights in cottages on site. Cottages had all basic requirements for comfortable stay. They were set in tranquil and picturesque surroundings. The free range chickens and peacocks were very curious and came up to our window. The cottages were a little bit run down and in need of renovation but for a short stay provided all we needed. We also ate at the restaurant which was good. We would stay again if we came to the Lakes.

On Christmas day we ate our Christmas dinner at Irton Hall having booked, paid and placed our menu choices in advance as required. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table in the dining room. All the staff were, without exception, polite, friendly and professional. The food was also excellent and exceeded our expectations. My wife's gluten free requirements had been well catered for and did not disappoint. Afterwards we relaxed with coffee in the lounge, besides a roaring central log fire. Here again the bar manager was polite, professional and welcoming. We will definitely return in the new year. Thank you to all involved, who we must remember, even though getting paid, still gave up their Christmas day to make ours special.

We stayed for one night with our new dog. The room was basic but perfectly fine and quiet. I think most of the staff were not in as it took a while to raise somebody yo the front desk to check in. There is a cozy bar where we ate (as we had a dog) and breakfast was at the same table. The room was slightly dated but perfectly fine, quiet and had a comfy bed. The bathroom was superb with a large shower and Jacuzzi bath. Plenty of hot water.

What a beautiful place to stay. We were at Irton Hall for two nights. The setting was tranquil, and the grounds surrounding the Hall were well kept and made an evening stroll before dinner easy, just what we needed after a long journey from our home on the Outer Hebrides. The staff were so helpful and very friendly. We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was delicious. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and the ensuite bathroom with jacuzzi bath was fabulous especially after a hike up Scafell Pike! Jamie gave us a potted history of the Hall, thank you, Jamie. All in all we just couldn't fault it. We will be back.

We booked our wedding at Irton Hall in April 2018 .. unfortunately due to covid this was postponed a couple of times but eventually took place on 03.09.2022 and I can honestly say the day was nothing but amazing. Tom and his gang have been so helpful and accommodating the last 4 years absolutely nothing has been a problem whatever we have asked for! When we got to the venue everyone was greeted with nothing but smiles and nice cold welcome drinks .. and the most delicious canapés!! (The Sour Cream and Chive Taties were wow)!! .. I’ve never had so many guests say ‘this was genuinely the nicest wedding meal we’ve ever had’ and I can certainly vouch for it! Everything was piping hot from the bride / groom been served first to the last table there was definitely no cold gravy or veg to be complained about and the meats just fell apart! .. The evening food was to the same highest standard and again it was nothing but raved about with so many people running for seconds!! The food was a massive bonus, but to us the staff absolutely made the day that bit more special. There wasn’t anything that they couldn’t do for you and couldn’t be anymore accommodating if they tried! We had the undercover waiters and attempted a conga with all the guests which the Irton hall waiters joined in with .. just awesome!! If you want a venue that looks after you from the moment you book and comes with absolutely no faults just the highest standards and the happiest of staff then Irton Hall is definitely the one. Thanks again Tom and team, genuinely wouldn’t of had the day we had if we were anywhere else!! X

Nice, friendly accommodation and food. Stayed in one of the cottages, and we had dinner in the restaurant. Cottage was clean, comfortable, well equipped. For one night it was much better value than booking 2 hotel rooms for 2 couples, especially with the price of some Lake District hotels. We had access to the beautiful grounds of the hall, with peacocks, chickens, geese wandering around happily, and some terrific rare breed pigs to be able to visit. We ate in the restaurant which was also good value, and a good range of good food, to suit vegans, meat eaters, and fish lovers. The staff were all very friendly, helpful, and quick to help out.

Enjoyed a fabulous week in the Clock Tower. Staff were all lovely and always willing to help. Dined in the restaurant where the food was superb! Beautiful location with lots of wildlife about and nice grounds to have a stroll around. There were just a few criticisms which if addressed would make this a 5/5 venue: the Clock Tower building is in need of some TLC (e.g. leaky window and door frames when raining), some customers may find that the wheelchair access en suite would benefit from grab rails by the toilet and a shower seat, could do with a bit more crockery given the Clock Tower accomodates 10 people. All in all, a wonderful stay, would 100% recommend and hope to return in the future.

Stayed in one of the cottages for a week - rest of the family in the Clock Tower. Beautiful setting for this hotel and self-catering units. We were very comfortable in the cottage - very clean and it had almost everything we needed, except the crockery was a bit thin on the gound. This wasn't such an issue, as we spent most of our on-site time in the Clock Tower with the rest of the family. Had we been staying alone (3 of us), I would have been asking for a few more dinner plates (only 2 in the property - the rest were side plates, and not too many of those either). A few rotten window frames here and there (the upstairs landing!), but the weather was warm and mostly dry, so it wasn't a problem for us. We had dinner in the hotel 2 nights. It was very nice, plentiful and reasonable value. Service was fast and efficient. Jamie in the bar did a sterling job as waiter and receptionist as well, and goodness knows what else he turned his hand to! A real asset to the Hall. Would consider staying again, but might try B&B in the main hall next time. The area around is wonderful - lots to see and do within easy distance. We definitely got to see this part of Cumbria at its very best.

We have had a fantastic family week holiday at Iron Hall, Warwick and his team could not off made us all feel more welcome. Our family room was lovely, great bathroom and cleaned every day. Breakfast was delicious and a great choice and we ate dinner there 5 nights out of 7. I have been a Catering Manager for over 40 years and this has too be the best place I've eaten. Excellent presentation, Tasty, hot and excellent service. We ate at their sister pub the Bridge Inn the other two nights, where again the service and food was first class. Warwick and his team really made our holiday a great one. We were a party of 10, staying in 4 rooms and we all had a superb holiday. We will definitely be back.

I love Irton Hall. It's such a beautiful place and the food is excellent too. This was my second visit and I'll definitely come back. The best thing about the place for us was the animals and the staff are so helpful and friendly. It also helped that the weather was amazing. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable.

Me alojé en Iirton Hall por 2 noches. El personal del bar y el restaurante eran excelentes, al igual que la comida que teníamos en ambas noches. Los tres de nosotros teníamos comidas diferentes cada noche y todos eran de un nivel de restaurante muy alto. El alojamiento con cocina en el que nos alojamos estaba un poco cansado y un poco crujiente, por decir lo menos, ¡no se podía ir a ninguna parte de la propiedad en silencio! ! Nos alojamos en familia 6 x adultos 3 x niños y nuestro perro Maverick del 10 al 14 de agosto de 2020 en la Torre del Reloj. Fuimos recibidos calurosamente por Steve (propietario) y nos informaron que la Torre del Reloj estaba lista para nosotros y nos fuimos. Es ideal para familias con 4 dormitorios en la planta baja y un dormitorio en el primer piso y 4 dormitorios tienen sus propios cuartos de ducha con inodoros y lavabos. Hay una gran área de asientos, cocina bien equipada y puertas de patio que conducen a su propia terraza con vista al bosque y una ventaja adicional cada mañana, el Peacock y Peahen nos visitaron, lo que a los nietos les encantó. Comimos todas las noches en el bar en una mesa reservada amablemente por Tom (Gerente) y la comida y el servicio fueron excelentes en lo que probablemente fue la semana más calurosa y húmeda del año en los lagos. Steve y Tom son lo que hace que la experiencia de Irton sea especial, ya que ambos harán todo lo posible para que su estadía sea más especial. Me alojé en una de las cabañas con cocina.Muy limpio y tenía todo lo que necesitábamos.La única crítica sería que necesitan poner un patio o algo fuera de la puerta trasera, ya que era muy pantanoso y no excelente si quieres dejar salir a los perros.Fui al bar a tomar el té la primera noche. La comida era fantástica, solo asegúrate de tener hambre, ¿las porciones son enormes? También tomamos el desayuno la última mañana, una vez más fue fabuloso. El personal muy amable.Preciosos jardines y genial para ver a los pavos reales deambulando, incluso asomándose por las puertas del patio una mañana. Definitivamente regresaría!

We were staying at a self catering cottage nearby but preferred to eat out. We booked a table and were very pleased that we did. The food was excellent as was the customer service. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and next time will likely book a room in the hotel.

Estábamos acampando en Boot cuando se pronosticó una gran tormenta eléctrica, así que nos quedamos aquí por una noche mientras soplaba. El personal fue muy amable y servicial. El salón es encantador y está en un entorno excelente. La comida en la cena y el desayuno era encantadora. Nuestra habitación estaba bien, pero el baño estaba extremadamente manchado y sucio en las esquinas. El baño es muy ruidoso.El hotel admite perros y había muchos perros en el bar. El bar tenía mesas grandes y bonitas en las que podíamos sentarnos a jugar y charlar mientras el mal tiempo soplaba.

Stunning building and huge bedrooms. 4 couples with 4 children and 2 dogs - loads of room. Long dining table for us all to eat and play games at, pool table to keep kids (and adults) happy. Couldn't fault it - gorgeous grounds and had nice meal in the restaurant/bar. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutley amazing place to stay. Broughton house which is part of irton hall. Stayed for the weeks with friends 10 adults in total. House was huge lots of space for everyone a special feature was the kitchen, big table lots of beautiful wood. 2 fridges! Beds comfy. Clean house! Would recommend to anyone. Great location for lots of walks ect.The pub food on site is beautiful aswell! Would defiantly stay again!

Whilst out driving today passed the Irton Hall and thought we would go in a see what it was like for a future stay. Bar was shut and no one at reception hung about for 10 minutes still no one. Left disappointed.

we were lucky to enjoy a breakfast with our son who was staying here at Irton Hall. A lovely range of foods and cold dishes. All clean and lovely surroundings. Take a walk around the beautiful grounds of the Hall.

La única crítica que tengo es que la comida estaba un poco cocinada. Pero esa es la preferencia personal. En contraste, el parfait de hígado de pollo era perfecto.

Bar is fine and the rooms are very big, our bathroom was enormous. Great feeling of character about the buildings. The breakfast room was very good and the service spot on. Helpful staff in organising twin beds.

We booked this hotel on a Sunday morning to stay on the same night, then continued on our journey to another hotel for two further nights. All we can say is “Wished we had stayed 3 nights at Irton Hall”

Booked on the day of arrival, great value ,lovely staff, good menu choices and outstanding breakfast. Huge room and bathroom, would come for a long weekend next time.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful short break at Irton Hall. From the start of our break to checking out we had a great time in this conveniently located hotel for exploring the west lakes and beyond.

We stayed at Irton Hall for 1 night, and although the hotel service and restaurant are good, we were very disappointed with our stay. The rooms (1 hotel room and 1 cottage) were not clean; the rooms should be upgraded and the cleaning standards need to be much higher.

We do not often eat where we stay. This was a wise exception. The quality of what was on the plate far exceeded out expectations. There is good variety on the menu with locally sourced items throughout. For an operation of this size, the wine list as well balanced. Recommended.

Our room 11, was okay but pretty dated, certainly not the 'luxury' b&b; it was described as,and while on the side we had lovely woodland views unfortunately it was above the bin store.

We stayed in the self catering house that holds 8 people, beautiful place very clean, log fire smart tv with Netflix, all around good experience at would recommend

Irton Hall is very impressive as you drive up & park the car. Sunny weather helped greatly. The receptionist was really nice & helpful & recognised our booking immediately.

Couldn't rate this spectacular hotel highly enough. The staff are fantastic, the chap Tom is very friendly and makes an excellent bar man!! The food is great & the grounds are wonderful. Highly recommended!

We booked Irton Hall as an ideal base for climbing Scafell Pike and exploring the Western Lakes. What a great find! Beautiful building, friendly staff, superb food and terrifically picturesque grounds. Our family room for two adults and two boys was really large with plenty of wardrobe space and a big bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and separate double shower. The King size be was ever so comfortable and made for a good rest before and after the climb. Stayed for 4 nights and we all wish we could have stayed longer. The boys loved the grounds and playing with the owner's dogs, Food at breakfast and dinner was always top notch and only the slight mis-order which never really detracted from our enjoyment. Great range on the menu and behind the bar and some really tasty and new dishes to experience. I hope the kitchen staff all got their well deserved drinks put on to our room! Good value and an ideal base to visit other attractions. Tucked nicely out of the way and a great view across from our window. We would all love to return one day and am sure we will. Thanks to everyone at Irton and all the best for the future.

Don’t go to the restaurant if you are hungry! We booked a table at 19.00 and ordered our food shortly after. The starters came out at 20.30 with no apologies. Mains were just as slow. Desserts took 45 minutes to arrive.

Stayed as part of a group in Broughton self catering accommodation. The accommodation is fantastic and had the wow factor. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious. The bedrooms are roomy and have plenty of room for clothes. Bathrooms were of high spec. Breakfast was included and was delicious. Location is great for walking. The restaurant food was delicious and plentiful.

Just stayed the one night but could have happily settled in for longer. Room was well appointed and very comfortable with great views.

We treated ourselves to two nights B+B here for a special wedding anniversary: not cheap - but the online offer was £100 per night for two in a double room with full breakfast, and well worth it. The historic hall, and outbuildings and grounds are...

We stayed at Iron Hall for 4 night and would be more than happy to go there again. Initially I was a little disappointed as we'd booked through Booking.com 2 weeks before our visit and the price had dropped by £30 a night a week later. However because of this the hotel had upgraded us to an enormous room at the front of the property. Breakfast was ordered individually and the evening meals were delicious with a wide choice and always delicious. Our one small criticism of our room was that it was directly over the bar and we assume that on Friday and Saturday night the staff had a bit of a get together and although I slept like a log my husband could hear laughter and banging doors until 2.30 on Friday night. The staff were incredible the rest of the time and were very friendly and helpful.

We visited Irton Hall for dinner last night on the basis of decent TripAdvisor reviews. We had been told that a booking wasn’t required due to it being quiet, and quiet it was; we turned up to find the hotel like a ghost town. We sat down in the bar (where dogs are allowed) and a staff member later appeared. I ordered chicken liver pâté to start, which was nice, but not nice enough for £6.95, followed by mac and cheese off the specials board. This was a bit of a letdown, as there really was nothing to it other than a massive bowl of pasta and cheese, with a side salad. Yes, I ordered mac and cheese, and that’s what I got, but it could’ve done with some breadcrumbs to give it some texture other than goo, or some garlic bread to provide some variation in flavour, as it became sickly before reaching the end. On the upside, our dog was made to feel welcome, and there are free (incredibly smelly) treats at the bar. There was no real ambience, however; the interior was direct from the bland-and-dreary hotel style book, and we had the theme from Ghostbusters playing during our meal. On the whole, the food was okay, but there was no pull factor to make us go back, as we could’ve had a two-course meal of an equal standard at home for less than £40.

Me and my boyfriend decided to stay at Irton Hall after seeing it advertised on booking.com, the price of £49 for bed and breakfast was the deal breaker! Unfortunately I didn’t look into the route that we would be taking from our home in Southport, a 2.5 hour journey which actually took 4.5 hours due to sat nav taking us through the most roughest roads we’ve ever seen inc wrynose pass and hardknott pass! Which where unsuitable for any vehicle because of snow and ice unless you drive a quad bike that is.

On a cycling weekend we stopped at Irton Hall in Pele Tower which sleeps up to 16 people. Very clean and spacious. The food in the hotel was excellent with a good menu. The bar had a good selection. Set in gorgeous grounds and positioned perfectly for exploring the lakes. All the staff were very helpful, pleasant. A lovely hotel with immense character and great staff.

Family of four all enjoyed our dinner at Irton. Good service, appreciated our ICE water, it's the little things, most ice we had our entire trip. Sticky Toffee Pudding here was wonderful, but all our dishes were very good. Reserve a table in advance. They were busy all night, seems that locals also come here to enjoy the good food.

Stayed here a few times now. Again from check in to check out everything was fantastic. Very dog friendly was lots of dogs which our big lad got really excited about. We were upgraded to a fabulous room. Lunch was beautiful. Evening meal exceptional. Staff as always very welcoming and friendly. Love this place. Would recommend to anyone.

Mi marido y yo tuvimos el almuerzo de domingo. Ambos nos eligió a tres campos por 15 libras. 95 opción. Disfruté muchísimo de mi morcilla pila inicial y mi pegajosa; el desierto pudding de toffee asado campo carne principal era mediocre. Colin tenía una pinta de cerveza y yo tenía una media pinta de limonada.

Nos estábamos alojando en Ravenglass Irton Hall y reservamos para cenar en nuestra llegada. Parte de nuestro grupo se retrasaron, así que necesitábamos para cambiar los números y veces y estuvimos pidiendo comida hasta tarde.

Decidimos probar aquí para una comida como mi novio ha estado haciendo mucho trabajo en la carpintería Señora Gris. Y no nos decepcionó. Como llegamos, fuimos recibidos por un personal amable y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa una vez tuvimos nuestras bebidas y a la izquierda para elegir el menú. Elegimos sopa y pato rollitos de primavera para empezar, lento carrilladas de ternera y de cerdo cocinado para platos principales vientre estofado, pegajosa y apple pudding y toffees casis cayera para el postre. Comida excepcional calidad! Aunque estábamos totalmente llenos, al final, conseguimos un poco de nido en el terreno. Y una vez completa paisaje, Excelente suite de eventos! Sin duda nos alojaremos de nuevo allí.

We live nearby. Only been for coffee and it was a pleasure. It is a good venue for weddings,set in a super spot,with very historic buildings. Friends stay regularly and love it, so I can recommend it.

Asistimos Irton Hall para una boda y nos alojamos por dos noches. No puedo alabar al lugar. Las instalaciones son fantásticas, con pavos reales strutting arrogantemente buscando en un definitivo sentido de superioridad aviar. Me parecieron fascinantes. (no tenía ni idea de que podía volar! Se aprende algo nuevo cada día.

We loved this hotel - it was a bit further from the central lakes area than we realised but there were plenty of beautiful places to visit and we were near enough to tackle the coastal walk from Whitehaven to st bees. The hotel states that it's dog friendly and it certainly is!! Our pooches were welcomed with treats and there were beautiful garden areas to walk them. We hadn't planned to eat at the hotel every night but did in the end as the food was superb. Although we didn't bring the dogs down to the bar when we were eating, they were welcome - (we brought them down for a nightcap!!) All the staff were exceptionally pleasant - Caitlin in particular was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Would definitely return!!

Yet another fantastic weekend staying at Irton Hall. The staff where fantastic and worked really hard. The food was fabulous. Can't wait to come back next year. Thank you for having us.

Irton Hall presents itself as an upmarket B&B, but the bar and restaurant are open for non-residents. The building is majestic and the dining room looks out over the grounds.If you are looking for food a lot better than the average pub, then this is definitely worth a visit as they try hard on the presentation and quality and succeed pretty well. I would go for the specials as the chef has clearly put a lot of effort into making these a cut above the standard. Deserts are excellent and overall I would give them 4.5 for food.Service and ambiance/decor (which is a bit 70's) lets them down but don't let that put you off going because the building itself is lovely and the kitchen obviously tries hard to please. We will go again.

Owned by same people as the Bridge Inn but offers more upmarket dining in a much smaller dining area. Probably need to book well in advance at busy times. Good menu selection, with some excellent specials. Decent wine at sensible prices, very good service and nice ambiance. Recommended.

We booked one night here (and ended up booking an extra night as soon as we arrived as it looked amazing) the grounds of the building are beautiful and we even got a free upgrade to an enormous room (with a hot tub/jacuzzi!). The staff who greeted us were warm and friendly however being easter Sunday the restaurant was fully booked but we went to The Bridge Inn just down the road and had a lovely meal so it wasn't a problem we booked a table for the restaurant the next night. There are some fantastic attractions nearby and we had a lovely day out on the Monday however on returning the cleaning staff had done a rather half hearted job of cleaning the room, we'd have not known they'd been there except the tea and coffee tray had been topped up but the bath was dirty, but not a big problem it was when we went to the restaurant that evening that we were left really disappointed.My partner and I both ordered French onion soup to start and when it came it lacked the gruyere cheese (which defines it as being French rather than just onion soup, I'm no foodie but if even I know that I'd expect the chefs to also) without the cheese the consistency of the soup was very watery and overall pretty poor. For our mains I ordered the leg of lamb and my partner the burger both of which were over cooked and chewy, also the onion rings which came with the burger were stone cold, we ate as much as we could muster before deciding to drive to the nearest supermarket to buy snacks instead. After such a lovely couple of days it was a real shame our last meal in the lake district was so poor especially when the menu makes it look like fine dining but it was worse than many pub meals I've had and we'd hoped for more. I'd definitely go back and stay but eat at the nearby bridge Inn which is better quality and value for money.

well worth the 20 minute walk from the nearby Santon Bridge Campsite. An excellent choice of specials and a varied menu, all well cooked. Attentive service by all the staff made a lovely evening

We had a great meal for Easter dinner today there was 14 of us nothing was to much trouble for the waitresses we all had starters mains and puddings, the menus are extensive and there's something for everyone. Great day all round x

I have eaten here on many occasions - which therefore suggests things aren't too shabby ! Quite so, the location is fabulous and the staff are hugely enthusiastic. The fish and chips is really good with fresh fish, crispy batter and served on a nice hot plate. The Rib-Eye was tender and tasty and came with onion rings, a tomato and chunky Fries.I am unfortunately from the school of "charred on the outside and blue inside". The steak was served rare as ordered, however, there is a trick being missed here ! A proper char griller would really benefit here.good luck to all

We stayed early this week and had a beautiful meal in the restaurant. The lasagne was nicer than any Italian restaurant and was homemade, the steak was cooked to my liking with lots of flavour and a homemade peppercorn sauce to want more of. It was served with freshly cooked veg that was locally sourced and had lots of flavour too. The breakfast the next morning was wonderful and got through most of the day while you took in the breathtaking senery.Thank you Tom, Darren and the rest of the team

Stayed at Irton hall cottages these were very good value and we ate in the hotel itself and again surprisingly good value (we were expecting higher prices) food itself was of a high standard. Will stay again.

Okay we got ourselves a bargain one night break, £49 bed and breakfast for two!!! The room was spotless, the bath was a jacuzzi and was ace, the breakfast was stunning, the staff actually listened when we requested "well done bacon and sausage" it came well done! Unlimited toast and hot drinks mmm it was delicious There is a pub a mile away called the Bridge where you can enjoy a few beers before you head to the hall to eves drop on other conversations in the Irton Hall bar lounge which is quite charming and decently pricedWe will return

I stayed one night while working locally. Unfortunately spent very little time at the hotel but I had a large well presented room. Bathroom was far larger than your usual hotel offering. The full English was also very good. Will be back and will hopefully stay longer next time for a better look around.

A very special holiday. Broughton house was very large, clean, comfortable and surprisingly warm. More than big enough for our extended family gathering with a wonderful kitchen which was well equipped. Some elements were a little tired, but I think that is to be expected at the end of the season. The adjoining hotel staff are friendly and inviting. And the grounds are a joy. Great stay and I hope to relive the experience again.

We have been here a few times over the years and the food is nice on a whole. But the prices seem to have gone up and the portions are smaller. My husband had a lamb stew and if there was four pieces of lamb he was lucky. The dish was so shallow it really was a very small portion. Which is a shame they seem to be compromising on portion size as the food was nice. I am certainly not paying those prices again.

We stayed here while visiting the area for a family wedding, and have been made so welcome. The staff are all really friendly, with nothing too much trouble. The accomodation exteemely comfy and the food delicious, generous and the sticky toffee pudding was a magnificent end to an enjoyable meal

Excellent service, wonderful building. The food quality did not match the price, but it was OK. Dessert was very nice. I might return.

Just returned from a weekend away with family stopped in one of the cottages and very nice it was too. We took our two dogs and they were made very welcome. The cottage had every thing you would need. The heating wasn't working when we got there but was quickly sorted and you did need it as very cold. Plenty areas for walking the dogs in the grounds. Very quiet and peaceful nice walks around the area. Had a lovely weekend

ate here for breakfast which was hot tasty & plentiful, great choiceswe also ate here for the 3 nights we stayed and on day/night had something different. portions were large, well presented & very tastyhighly recommended

We stayed at Irton Hall and on our first night we in the restaurant. The service was excellent, we were made to feel at home and so much care was taken with the food. I had a pizza which was lovely and thin just how I like it, not at all stogey. My partner is gluten intolerant and her meal was made to order with a lot of tweaks, they managed it really well, both dishes were made fresh plus the chips were yummy too. Overall great service, great food, recommended.

Our family and friends spent a few days in one of the properties at Irton Hall. We were self- catering but decided to have a meal in the nearby restaurant. One of the party ordered a fillet steak which was served with the usual garnish and chips. I thought that the steak was overpriced for the size(£22.95 for 6 oz.) and also the chips were a disgrace! I had scampi and chips-scampi ok but chips were awful, the potatoes were black and quite inedible so I left most of them. One of our party did mention the fact to one of the staff but to no avail!! So sorry, we won't be back.
