We have been here before for Sunday lunch and enjoyed it very much so we went back last Sunday and were really disappointed. I couldn't take photos I didn't have my phone we got 2 large dinners which had good amount of meat, a table spoon of carrot and turnip, I small piece of broccoli, which was still half cooked but I like veg that way, the smallest amount of cabbage and a tablespoon of cauli cheese. Loads of.mash potato, and the Yorkshire pudding was like eating carboard The gravy was really just like water no thickness to it. My mum.got the smaller portion and where i said table spoons for ours she had teaspoons full.Such a shame cos the building is immaculately clean and staff are brilliant. Sadly we won't be returning 😪

I took my mum to castle knights for her 70th birthday last night 7th sept. There were 5 adults and 4 children. Do you know the staff were so accommodating and nothing was any bother. Also the food was absolutely amazing and everything was perfect. I thoroughly recommend going here at least once. Thank you ladies and your fab chef for making my mum's birthday so special. And sorry again for making you run late we didn't realise you were finishing.

We were looking for a pub where we could enjoy an evening meal while staying overnight in Whitehaven. Walking around the downtown area and along the waterfront, we didn’t see many suitable places. So we were very pleased to come across The Castle Knights as we walked back up the hill. It’s a nice space, attractively furnished and decorated, and very clean. The menu is varied and good value, and the meals came out in good time. We went for the pie of the day, and the steak….. We appreciated being able to order our meals with mash rather than the inevitable chips, and chose to add a side salad to get some more vegetables in. The dessert was a particular treat - what a great sticky toffee pudding. This pub advertises itself as family and dog friendly which didn’t appeal to us, but on the evening we visited there were neither children nor dogs in, and we found it a very pleasant, relaxing place for a weeknight dinner.

The lady who served us was very nice. It was very clean and was nice place to eat. Food was roasting hot, huge portions and was nice but was an wee bit on the greasy side. Coke was on the funky side, maybe because it draft 💁 only down side was we was, we was out has an family and chatted but some random come sat down next table and kept talk to us, (obviously known to the staff) normally we don't mind taking to people but we would be taking to wee one about something and she kept saying things and not always appropriate, just upset the atmosphere for us.

Was a great e Meal . Dog friendly is a big bonus

Great food last night, as usual. I had Castle Knights Grill, with my favourite ‘garlic’ mash - good job I have a big appetite…. Fantastic hospitality, as always. Lovely environment for my little dog too..

The person who runs this place is nasty. I felt so un welcomed and then lied about. Food is so under average I wouldn’t bother. Look at kitchens before you eat. Don’t go there ! It’s un hygienic

I really cannot fault this venue, very accommodating (seven of us plus two dogs), the staff were brilliant and the food excellent. Some of the chairs were starting to look a little tired but these were the most comfortable seats that I have ever had in a restaurant. Great place and we will certainly be back.

Called for food but fully booked. Enjoyed a pint instead. Comfortable friendly pub.

Disappointing overall. The Sunday menu consisted of a standard pub Sunday lunch, scampi and the 1 portion of steak pie that was left. That was it. Nothing else from the main menu was available. We ordered 1 small and 2 regular sunday beef lunches, all 3 arrived the same size! "Yorkshires" were undercooked and pretty tasteless looking more like a pancake, one small roast potato only and the veg was rather overcooked. The beef was OK though. Steak pie OK but the mash with it was reported as tasteless. Even the person who had the bog standard pub scampi was disappointed. loads of raw onion in the salad and tasteless peas. Sorry, but we won't be going back. Waiting staff were friendly, but we had to ask and wait for the condiments which really should have been provided automatically.

There were 6 diff meals, we all enjoyed them, staff were so helpful bringing a special lit cake out for one of us (that we supplied) and brought plates, cutlery, ice cream & cream too.

My wife and myself have just been here for Sunday Lunch. It was absolutely awful. I had beef which was virtually inedible. It was very fatty. It should never have been served to anyone. Most of th veg was only luke warm. The gravy was just like pouring grease onto your plate. We chose this venue because of the good positive reviews. We were shocked at how few customers there were when we arrived. I can only imagine the good reviews were posted by people who aren't very fussy what they eat. My wife had chicken. She said it was just OK again her veg was not hot enough. I did complain to the young girl who asked if everything was OK. She said I'll tell the chef. Considering how many people were in I would say service was very poor. We paid the full amount of the bill and left. I can still taste the grease in my mouth nearly four hours later. Yuk. We paid the bill in full and will definitely not be returning.

Arrived in the Lakes today for a two night break. Not many places open and ended up at the Castle Knights. What a find! Lovely interior and bespoke outdoor area, the roast dinner was delicious and great value for money. Chatted with the Landlady and she was lovely. A very welcoming place with a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

A hidden gem we didn't know about. Lovely beer garden out the back. Excellent staff. They were very good to make sure my food was gluten free, even offering to do chips in a seperate dryer. Reasonably priced.

Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. Beer garden a sun trap . We chose to have our drinks in the beer garden before moving indoors for our meal. Wife had the chicken Cajun which she described as excellent and she is not easy to please. I had the gammon. This meal again excellent with a great egg (meant to ask them who supplied them). Will definitely be returning

Went for a meal at castle knights for my 40th last night with my other half and it was beautiful the staff were very friendly and the meal was beautiful

Very loud on a Friday night, so loud we couldn't stay and eat, staff were friendly and very understanding.

Visited for a christening. Chips and sandwiches were served to each table and were lovely. Extra chips too! Not much choice in terms of beer tbh.

My regular and took the other half out for a meal Thursday evening, planning on having a fulfilling Castle Mixed Grill (I have a good appetite). Kelly suggested I try a Red Thai that she still had from Wednesday special.... I also have a love of tasty food (not curry hot though). The balance of flavour was fantastic, really enjoyable. Recommended to anyone who enjoys eating..., Kelly as hospitable as usual - great environment for our Yorkshire Terrier, Rosie

Loved my Sunday dinner here one of the best I've ever had.why because it was all homemade nothing frozen. cooked well and tasted great.well presented food and the sticky toffee pudding gorgeous! Price is fantastic for 3 course and nice staff too. Portion are maybe a little smaller than most places but the quality of food makes up for it.

Enjoyed the food but overall not as nice an experience as the glass house by far. Couple of pointers: - Thai night on a Wednesday. Why not weekend? - Menu small but quite cheap. - My pet hate toilet doors don’t lock!

Trying to get a meal mid week in Whitehaven after 8 p.m. is difficult. We were visiting and our niece advised us of this place. It was quiet but the landlady was very friendly. We had two sirloin steaks which were cooked perfectly with real chips. The portion sizes were massive. The decor in the pub is very good. It is a very good place to get a good meal and we would return.

First visit to the place, my son chose from the normal menu as he lives in Asia, we tried the Thai menu and every dish was excellent. Well presented, full of flavour and served with a smile. Definitely a hidden gem, I think it’s the best meal I’ve had in Whitehaven. Thoroughly recommended!

We went for a meal with family and the food was excellent. Everything was home made and presented well. I had a rump steak which was done exactly how I'd asked for it to be done. Service was very good and staff polite and helpful. We will definitely go back again.
