The Wild Olive in Copeland

We have been to this restaurant quite a few times now when visiting the Lakes. The food is consistently excellent and the staff very attentive and friendly.

Ate in one night and started off ok but then had to wait an hour between courses. No one came to let us know there was any kind of delay, I had to go and ask after 45 minutes and saw the oven was empty, was told our pizzas were on the way though? Anyway they turned up about 15 minutes later. Tried again another night for takeaway, ordered at 5.30pm over the phone, was told it would be ready at 7.40pm, you would think 2 hours notice would be enough but we turned up to collect and order wasn't even started, had to wait another half an hour and then when we got home one of the pizzas was wrong. Food is good but not worth waiting for to be honest. They wouldn't survive if it weren't for the lack of competition in the area.

We booked to go in the evening 4 Adults 2dogs as confirmed they were allowed, we was shown to our table after sitting outside as table was not ready. Waitress took our drinks and starters straight away, arrived quickly and was very tasty, then it went down hill, we waited an hour before some one come to clear the table and bring our mains, we had to ask what the delay was, people were coming in after us, ordering and getting there mains. I don’t mind waiting an acceptable time but we were clearly ignored or forgotten, they were quick enough to bring the bill and want paying, let down could be so muck better

A really pleasant evening. Staff managed to get us in without a reservation. Food was lovely along with the service. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fabulous Italian restaurant in Gosforth - small but serving seriously good food & amazingly good takeaway food! The staff are lovely & a real credit to the owners & chef! Would highly recommend

First of all the restaurant is absolutely lovely. The staff were quick to see to us and very friendly. I’d you’re thinking of going make sure you book. We got the stuffed mozzarella bread with chorizo to share it was delicious could not fault it. We then got a pizza each and some wedges to share these were also delicious. Big portions and great food would get pasta next time to try as someone next to us got it and it looked stunning.

I’ve visited this part of the country several times for business, and can say without reservation that this is some of the finest food in the area. The staff is extremely friendly, with a great atmosphere. This is a place where you can relax and enjoy a meal with your friends. I would highly recommend the Carbonara, Lasagna, or any of the Risotto dishes. They also have one of the best Pizzas I’ve ever eaten (try the spicy meatball, or add chorizo to their margarita pizza)!

Obviously doing very well at present. Customer care seemed nonexistent. Answerphone on in afternoon. Don't leave message. Call when open at 5p.m. At 5 p.m. still answerphone. Eventually tried to make a booking- unable to offer time. Seemed a couldn't care less attitude on the telephone. Not a recipe for a long term business?

Nice atmosphere but far too long to wait for food - others were luckier somehow. Food when it came enjoyable but night ruined.

Little gem of a restaurant in Gosforth. Didn’t have a reservation (tip book ahead) but as there were two of us we sat at the counter. The service was excellent. The food delicious and the sea bass was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.

Popular place to eat, recommend you book in advance even on a Tuesday night as we had to get a takeaway (not an issue as we were staying very close) reasonable prices and good choice of tasty dishes.

1st time visiting , what a find , food was fit for a king and queen amazing, creamy mushroom starter was just to die for teenage son loved tomato soup. He ate all of the pizza I had the beetroot salad with blue cheese and walnut which was a nice size so I could allow for dessert. St. Clements posset from specials menu is quite honestly one of the best desserts I've ever had very comforting . Please open nearer Basingstoke in Hampshire.

It's really hard to find dog friendly restaurants. The staff were unbelievable. They gave us an amazing table next to the door which with a puppy was a plus. The food was absolutely tasty and hot and cooked perfectly. Both me and my fiance have worked in the service industry and we both thought the service was superb. We really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and happy to accommodate the 4 of us and our dog, including giving him a bowl of water. There was a regular menu and a monthly menu with far more choices than the usual pizza, lasagne etc. The food we all had was tasty and freshly cooked. This restaurant is a little gem in the western Lake District and well worth a visit. It was busy on a Tuesday night so I suspect you would need to book, even post COVID. They also offer carry outs, pre ordered, so excellent if self catering nearby.

Had a lovely evening meal here with a friend whilst staying a few miles away in Beckermet, it was well worth the drive! We booked the day before for a table at 6pm, very glad we booked as it was pretty full even at that time. The decor is very nice and the staff friendly and polite. We were touring and were looking for somewhere to have lunch. What a great find. Clean and well presented restaurant, really nice pizzas and very friendly service. My wife had the Caesar salad which was freshly prepared and well presented. Dough balls with garlic butter were a very nice shared starter. Excellent pizza and pannacotta, served by a fast and friendly team. The restaurant feels welcoming as soon as you enter, and the interior was nicely done too - overall a good vibe. We really enjoyed our meal; the pizza dough was very good, and well-cooked too. And home made pannacotta was also carefully made and delicious. It seemed to be busy with both tourists and regulars, which we liked.

We had spent the day hiking in Wasdale and had set out late to find a place to eat. We had been turned away by every place we tried owing to the time - most places closed their kitchens at 8pm. At the Wild Olive we were told we could have a table in 30 minutes so we had a drink in the pub round the corner. Frankly we weren't expecting much in Gosforth (sorry people of Gosforth) but the Wild Olive really was excellent in terms of choice, quality and ambience. We were so impressed that we tried to book a table for the following night but they were full.

We have been trying to get here for a long time and it was worth the wait!!We didn’t have starters but shared some yummy wedges with garlic dip to accompany our mains. My husband raved about his pizza and my mushroom risotto was lovely. I didn’t quite get the thyme though, maybe some crispy thyme on top would just add that extra texture. However it was creamy and decadent. No room for pudding, maybe next time.First class though and a welcome change of scenery!!

We had supper here on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant had a lovely buzz about it, with plenty of diners and a good takeaway trade. I had the pulled harissa lamb pizza, as it sounded interesting, and I can safely say it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. The service was attentive and efficient and all for a reasonable price ... very good value for money. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough ... we will definitely be back.

Vine a pedir pizza para llevar un sábado por la noche ajetreado. Nuestro pedido estuvo listo muy rápido y fue una de las mejores pizzas que hemos tenido. La masa estaba realmente fresca y horneada a la perfección, y todas las coberturas eran increíbles y de alta calidad. Teníamos la pizza de cebolla caramelizada y queso azul y la pizza de cordero harissa picante. Ambos estaban deliciosos, ¡felicitaciones a los chefs!

Reservé una mesa usando su servicio de reserva en línea pero nunca recibí una confirmación. Decidí llamar ese día para confirmar pero, como sospechaba, no habían recibido nuestra reserva y ahora estaban completos. Colgué decepcionado y molesto, pero decidí unos minutos más tarde preguntar si podíamos reservar una comida para llevar, lo cual hicimos.El risotto de gambas y limón y la pizza fueron INCREÍBLES y me alegro de haber conseguido un lugar para llevar. ¡Lo recomiendo altamente!

After a beautiful long walk around Buttermere we came back to Gosforth and had the most delicious meal at The Olive Tree. I had the best risotto I have ever had.
