I held my retirement get together in the Yellow Earl private room last week. It was a good space that provided a lovely atmosphere for this type of gathering. Guests were coming and going at different times but the food was provided at intervals across the afternoon to accommodate this. The sandwiches were great quality, with several choices, and served with plenty of good chips. The pizzas served later all went down a treat too. We received really attentive service. As well as bar service downstairs, the staff kept checking in on us upstairs, clearing tables and providing a complementary drinks service. A music system, for us to bluetooth to, was also provided. All for a very reasonable price too. Many thanks to Lucy and the team.

Random Monday night feed, popped into the Yellow Earl 08/07/24 absolutely bang on. Best burger I've had in West Cumbria in ages!! Really impressed. Great chunky chips. Was not disappointed at all. Defford be returning for the smash burger🍔

Popped in here on a sunny Monday, we both had the smash burgers in the sunny beer garden , staff came out and checked if we needed anything twice and to see if the food was okay. I had added pulled pork on my burger would absolutely have it again 🤤

Fantastic place 👍 fine beers, music and live bands, large beer garden what's not to like? Can get very busy on the band nights and weekends that's getting to much for me now I'm past 60 😋

Absolutely wonderful Sunday roast (the only one we were able to find on the day before bank holiday), lovely staff, and the freshly baked bread was exceptional. Would definitely come back.

Great atmosphere and live music.

I put off family plans to watch a band here, got there told band had cancelled and it had said on social media. I had checked that afternoon to double check no mention of it been cancelled got bar staff to show me where it said cancelled and obviously they couldn't because they had Not posted cancelled. I feel they got people to go to the venue, under false pretenses

Held a hen party at the Yellow Earl on Saturday. They accommodated all my requests from buffet order, outside entertainment & Prosecco for arrival drinks. The bar staff went above and beyond helping to setup when we initially arrived, they even provided table service throughout the afternoon. The buffet was excellent & was more than enough to cater for all the guests. We had the whole place to ourselves and it was a truly brilliant evening. I’d highly recommend.

Planned a surprise party for my Wifes 40th Birthday. Lucy and all the team at the Earl mde sure everything was taken care of from food, drinks, entertainment and decor they pulled off an amazing event for a 100plus people. I wish i had photos to show but we were too busy having a good time we didnt take any. The Marquee in the beer garden is a lovely extension of the main bar and made it so people could move around quite freely. The whole team made sure the party was memorable for all the right reasons and the attention to detail was fantatstic.

Delicious Sunday Lunch, relaxed setting and the staff are so welcoming and attentive. I’ve never had a bad meal here.

The only thing that lets this place down sometimes is that my wife feels uncomfortable due to being stared at for being African. The staff are great and the food is excellent

Went as a small group for the Boozy barons feast, food was amazing the staff fill up our glasses before they where even empty.staff where really friendly .Would highly recommend The Yellow Earl.

Nice place but the service was absolutely miserable. Ordered food and had to wait an hour and a half just to go and ask how long it’ll take and to be told that the food wasn’t even in the oven. Do not recommend

We often go to The Earl with family for food and drinks. Staff are consistently warm and friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The menu is competitively priced, varied and has some great vegan options. The food is delicious which is also another consistent element of the best pub in Whitehaven. Live music at the weekends is a must if you're out. Get your table booked today.

I had the pleasure of having my daughters christening at The Yellow Earl. From the moment of booking, to the moment we left on the day the experience was nothing but amazing. Before the event they were attentive to detail, asking questions to ensure everything suited my needs. On the day the service was impressive, rearranging furniture, assisting with decorating the room, serving drinks to guests, and tidying promptly following the delicious buffet. The buffet consisted of a selection of pizza, garlic bread, quiches, and chips. All of which was tasty and there was plenty for all the guests. I could not praise all the team enough. Thanks so much. I would recommend them for any parties.

Beautiful, tasty, well presented food that came out hot. Great friendly service in a quirky cosy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit to the yelow earl for a bite to eat. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Whether it's food drinks or live entertainment The Yellow Earl gets it right time and time again. I couldn't recommend highly enough certainly the place to be in Whitehaven.

Came here for drinks after a good dinner in town on a Saturday evening. The place was busy but not too busy. People were having fun but not raucous. Staff were super efficient at getting drinks. I liked the decor and general atmosphere. They have the weirdest snug ever though! More like a sensory room but with a huge thick door you can't move and probably wouldn't want to. You'd be entombed forever... May sound strange but the toilets definitely had an 'oh wow' about them. Loved the beer barrel urinals and the record collection outside!

Just came in to watch the football- the bar is 4 deep and the kitchen were about to stop serving. The staff were really busy, but when we ordered food, they gave us amazing service and delicious meals ☺️ thanks guys! Will definitely come again

Had Sunday dinner today and it was fantastic. A good plate full and cooked just right .plenty of beef and good value for money. Nice friendly staff and quick service 👌

Went for sunday lunch and was not disappointed although it was not loads and loads it was just enough and we felt full we had the 3 meat roast and it was amazing beef turkey and gamon with garlic and herb roast potatoes mash veg and a massive Yorkshire pudding saff was very friendly and we took my 2yr old and he was running about and although they were busy thay had time for him 5* all the way and Cheese cake for afters

This was the most exciting blind tasting I’ve had. So many interesting flavors and the different sauces with each dish was delicious and left you wondering what you’ve just had.

I would recommend everyone to avoid the Yellow Earl as it is not clean & safe. We booked a table for food & drinks. When arrived we were shown to a table that had clearly not been sanitised at all. Unfriendly waitress sneered when I asked her to clean the table, which she did with spray and a dirty ‘j cloth’. The cloth was then left sitting in the bar...not rinsed cleaned or disposed of! We were then given a pile of damp menus which smelt awful, so much so we pushed them away, not wanting to touch them. We were brought more menus which were also very damp, but no so offensive in smell. Given the current pandemic I understood that food outlets were meant to be using disposable menus. We were then totally ignored for a further 20 mins, no orders taken for food or drinks. All said, when a young man came to serve us for drinks, he was very welcoming & helpful. Shame about his colleagues. Avoid if you value your health.

Been to The Yellow Earl a couple of times this summer. The first time was for drinks & then again last night but this time for food. The service is fantastic. Staff are very friendly & attentive. Excellent gin selection. The food we had last night was amazing. So glad I opted for the chicken burger. It was delicious. All tables were distanced but it was still busy so there was a really good atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

Slow service is the main reason for the dropped stars good location and average priced drinks. Occasionally have bands on that is great.

Came here after a meal out at the weekend, we were visiting for the weekend and were told to visit the Yellow Earl by the owners of The Mansion, we were not dissapointed at all, it is a brilliant little bar and very stylish, the drinks on offer were great i wish i hadnt already ate otherwise i would have loved to try one of the milkshake cocktails they sounded great.

Quite often too busy for me on the weekend, but perfect to visit through the week for a quiet drink in the beer garden. The alcoholic Oreo and the raspberry milkshakes are definitely a highlight
