Had a lovely lunch in The Waverly. While having lunch I noticed them setting up the table next to me for an afternoon tea. The tea looks superb and I will deffinately be back to try it. As the photos show. At £9.95 a head it looks great value. The photos are of an afternoon tea for 3. Please note that you have to pre-order.

We had lunch here whilst on a business trip and we really enjoyed everything about this hotel/restaurant. The staff were very friendly, the food was delicious with a great variety on the menu. Everywhere was clean and inviting so we would definitely revisit if we are back in the area, especially with the prices being very reasonable.

Booked for Sunday lunch & none of our party were disappointed. Large portions! Both the lamb & the beef were tasty. Beef was served with mash, roast, yorkshire pud. carrots, peas, red cabbage, cauliflower & gravy. The pensioners portion was on a smaller plate, but still more than ample & that came with a tea or coffee. Good value too. Staff were kept very busy, but kept smiling & service was good

I am basing this review purely upon the food we received last night. Perhaps chef was having an off night? The restaurant has no atmosphere and the decor jaded and tableware plastic. Cheap wine glasses (from Wilco’s - the empty box was in a pile of stuff by our table) and brightly lit. But if the food had have been really good I could have ignored all that. The three stars are purely for the starters (soup and prawns) which were good and tasty. The main courses (sirloin steak and steak pie) were, sadly, a different story. The steak came with salad, mushrooms (laid on top of two pale onion rings which were soggy from the mushroom moisture) and, bizarrely, half a ton of roughly chopped over cooked carrots. The worse thing was my “medium rare” steak. It was actually grey in colour and tasted like it has been boiled in water. No chargrilled loveliness, no tender pink middle - just an annihilated piece of tasteless meat. No excuse is acceptable as any chef should have the fundamental knowledge of how to cook a good steak. It actually made us both a little angry (not a good emotion when you’ve looked forward to a meal) so we decided to skip desert, pay and leave. I mentioned the steak to the server (I’ve only ever complained in a restaurant once in my life - that’s how peeved I was) who apologised. Not her fault of course, but hope she mentioned it to the chef. I doubt he/she would care though as a chef who truly cares about the food they produce wouldn’t have sent that meal out to a customer in the first place. Service was good though and bar area pleasant. Give it a try based on the other reviews, sure, but I’ve eaten in loads of similar kind of restaurants and l left feeling like I’d been cheated somehow (I do love eating out!).

Really looking forward to fish and chips tonight, the aroma as you walk into any chippy is wonderful but that's where tonight's positives end. Frasers has little competition in the Egremont area without driving alot further afield, over the years it has improved when I first came here it was consistently poor and I'd say they certainly achieve average on occasions nowadays. Just over a 10 minute wait in a small queue of 3 with a couple of orders being put together it was clear there was no urgency or organisation so I gave up and left.

I have played at this venue since the late 80s when Alec was landlord. Mark in now running the club, which has been over-hauled to a high standard. Good quality projection screen with hdmi ports where they should be - on stage. This venue is ideal for christening and anniversaries.

Went in for a quick dinner and couldn’t be happier. The food was outstanding, I got a turkey Yorkshire pudding wrap with roasties and it was delicious. Service was brilliant from start to finish, got seated and served in no time. Excellent staff and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend if anyone is thinking about it or passing by.

We went to this place on a recommendation for a take away. The service was quite slow, and at the essential point of eating our food. The Chips were OK, but the FIsh was slightly underdone and the Batter was heavy and stodgey!! We won't use them again.
