We stopped here for Lunch during a walk. It was lovely inside and the staff were lovely. The food was fast and very tasty. I was with my two kids who normally moan about everything and even they liked it. There was also loads of board games to play in between courses. It was good value for money and a really good menu, including an extensive specials board. No photos as the food was demolished. Would definitely go again.

Gorgeous day and after arriving off the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway we happened upon this lovely pub on the way to the water mill. The lively beer garden was filling up quickly so we decided to stop for a bite to eat and a cold drink. Lovely menu including all the Sunday roasts (it was a Sunday) we settled for hot roast beef ciabattas and chips. Quick service, fresh food and tasty! Our only gripe is there wasn’t enough gravy and we should’ve had a small jug each too. Reasonably priced and lovely decor inside too!

Really popular pub and restaurant. Book ahead to guarantee a table. Nice veggie and vegan options. Dog friendly. I had an amazing cheese and onion pie with chips and peas…. And a pint! What more could you want?! Friendly staff. Quick to serve. So full they had to stop taking “walk in” requests to be seated for food. Great pint of Cumbrian ale. Not the cheapest, but then they have rather a captive market, especially Mondays and Tuesdays when its nearest rival is closed. Overall worth it so I didn’t have to cook after very rainy afternoon.

After getting off the little steam train, we looked for a pub. The Brook Inn was shut, so we walked a bit further to the Boot Inn, and were glad we did! The food was excellent and service very quick. Possibly the best fish and chips I’ve eaten. My son had the ham, chicken and leak pie, and that looked excellent too! Well worth the extra 150m walk 😊

We called in here on spec having booked lunch at The Inn at Ravenglass, but finding it shut with the chef and waitress waiting outside disconsolately and in vain for the proprietor to arrive. However, we're glad we did because not only is this very friendly pub in a beautiful place, but the food was unexpectedly good, which explains who the number of people stopping there to eat and drink. Particularly impressive was the fact that the food could be seen being made fresh to order.

Popped into the Boot Inn on Monday night, after reading some of its reviews on Tripadvisor. We hadn't booked, which was no problem for the friendly staff. Found us a table in the conservatory & I ordered Moroccan meatballs of the specials board & my wife ordered the Beef Chilli. Both meals were lovely & thoroughly enjoyed by the both of us. After the meal we sat out in the pleasant beer garden which has very nice scenery, enjoying a pint of Cumbrian real ale. Lovely place to visit & glad we called in.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This Inn is in an idyllic setting surrounded by fells and sheep with birds everywhere. It’s a nature-lover’s paradise. The food is good and the service is excellent with friendly waitstaff who do everything to ensure a good experience. The rooms are simple but have everything you need. My only concern is that I noticed significant mould in the bathroom. Wifi is spotty or not available but I see that as a positive as it forces a rest from technology. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Like the nearby Brook House Inn, I received a very warm welcome from the Scottish lady serving that evening, and the service was very friendly throughout. Also a good selection of beers. The food was slightly more restaurant-like: traditional, but with quite a bit of variety. I had th chicken tikka masala followed by a lemon panettone bread and butter pudding. All delicious! I look forward to visiting again while in the area.

Having had fantastic experiences in both Brook House and Woolpack on our trip we must admit we saved the best for last. The food at the Boot Inn was incredible! Go with a big appetite (usually the case after a 6 mile hike!). My husband had the gammon egg and chips. The thickest, biggest piece of gammon we have ever seen!! (Didn´t eat again that night!) I had the amazing lamb chops with purple potatoes, red wine jus and veg. Also an amazing little pickle of mint and onions on the side which I would normally avoid but really cut into the richness of the lamb. The lamb chops were thick and juicy and delicious. Service, as all places in Eskdale Valley, very friendly and very efficient. 100% recommend. Thank you for an amazing meal guys.

A 3 generational family meal out. We were all blown away by the food, it was really well cooked and super tasty, I had the lamb- and it's the best lamb I've ever had, the veg with it was lovely, and such a great little variety, not your normal 'frozen mixed veg' type. We visited the Inn for lunch during a Mountain Goat trip. We came in after a recommendation from someone local from the area. We arrived and were seated very promptly after not making a reservation. We ordered at the bar due to no one coming to take our order and asked for some small changes to our food. Such as having the pie with mash and carrots instead of chips and cabbage. We also asked for a side of peas, but they told us the meals come as they are and no changes could be made or anything be added on. The staff members were very rude and very quick to place our meals down and go off to talk to one another and go on their phones. We were made to feel like we were a hindrance to them, when in fact we paid good money to be there!! . We asked for cranberry and mint sauce to go with the sausage and the waiter said and i quote ‘I suppose i can find them in the kitchen for you. It will take me a couple of minutes’. We had to return one meal due to it being cold and the garlic bread being soggy. I admit they were very quick to warm up my meal, but it still wasn’t hot, more luke warm. But that’s better than being cold! When we brought up the problem, the waiter said ‘he’s scared of the chef’ and shrugged off our complaints. We paid a lot of money to be here - and the service provided was shocking. I work in this industry and i am ashamed of the way the staff treat the paying customers. Would definitely not recommend and will not be going back when we revisit the area!!

There is a warm and cozy atmosphere as you enter this pub. The welcome professional and courteous. Booking is recommended as it does get very busy! The reason it’s busy is the great food. As a family we couldn’t fault the food. The steak was cooked to perfection with a beautiful char on the outside. The beef chilli was delicious and flavoursome. The beef ribs soft and beautifully tender. Chips were great. Horseradish mash seasoned expertly. The desert of apple and plum crumble ‘stunning’ to quote my DW. High praise indeed. Drinks very reasonable. Good recommendations from the barman on ales, which was very much appreciated! Service professional yet friendly. Cost reflects the quality of the ingredients and cooking so higher than average but definitely worth it as a treat night out! Overall it was a lovely, wonderfully catered evening that I would certainly repeat when back up this way! Thank you to all the staff on tonight we had a throughly relaxing evening.

My husband and I took a rainy day drive to Boot after viewing a house in the area. As we were hungry we decided to eat at The Boot Inn. The pub had just opened as it had just turned lunchtime and we were the first customers. We were greeted by very friendly staff who made a big fuss of our dog. We eventually ordered two Foot long Bratwurst sausage Hot Dog after a long time pondering over the menu (too many delicious choices!) and a pot of tea. The plate of food was huge. The hotdog came with a spicy mustard ketchup and lots of crispy fried onions, crispy chips and homemade coleslaw. It all tasted amazing and we both had scraped our plates clean at the end.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying and eating at The Boot Inn. From the moment I booked the communication from Stuart and Anita was above and beyond. The room was very nice and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. What a treat to wake in the morning to bird song. When I arrived after travelling by motorbike I was greeted with a very warm welcome and was immediately shown my room and had a nice pint of cider waiting for me at the bar once I’d put my gear in the room. My wife arrived later by car and was greeted by the bar staff in the same way as I was. The staff were very friendly no matter how busy the place was and that is a testament to the staff. We had a meal there and I couldn’t fault it at all the steak was delicious and I’d recommend it whole heartedly. The breakfast was good and flavoursome, my wife had the omelette she would recommend it, it was perfectly cooked with a generous filling. The setting is idyllic and with spectacular views from the beer garden and it’s so peaceful. A tip if your sat nav is making you think you’re heading the wrong direction just trust it as The Boot Inn is well worth the journey. We liked place that much that we tried to stay a second night but unfortunately it was fully booked, which is understandable. But we will be back. Special mention to the lady who recommended a walk up to Blea Tarn when we mentioned we were going for a walk the next day. Looking forward to our next visit.

Seriously delicious home cooked food. Great location, top service, great selection of beers. This place is a must visit if you are in the area. So good we ate here both nights. Just wish I had a bigger stomach so I could eat more.

We stumbles across the Boot during one of our walks when staying at a local campsite for 6 nights & what a super find it was, so much so that we went twice. Extremely friendly staff, great food & very well set up for Covid.I would definately recommend to anyone that is in the area.

Lovely pub to go for a drink. Only pub close to where we were staying. No food served here. Dog friendly. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Close to request stop railway station. Open 2pm til pub empty. Makes sence. Friendly people.

Due to lockdown restrictions, Truly Scrumptious has a delivery service, so this was ordered by phone, rather than a visit to the shop. Their cream tea selections are amazing! My sister ordered this for mother's day - and since we haven't seen her since October 2020, she treated me, too! Delivery was within a 2-hour time slot, and arrived in good time. Definitely recommended.

I would highly recommend Moresby Hall. The owners were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I am a wheelchair user so was concerned about the actual accessibility of this grade 1 listed building. However they exceeded our expectations, having a designated, very well thought out, accessible apartment on the ground floor with every possible aid needed. Not only that but it was beautiful and we very much enjoyed our stay. Jane and David the owners were very welcoming, approachable and friendly, and they even made a amendment to the front door as my chair caught on a part of it. Breakfast was really nice, having a great selection to choose from and hot food made to order. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had and it felt much better than the buffet style English breakfast. The weekend went by very fast and I’d have loved to stay longer. Would highly recommend this beautiful hall as you won’t be disappointed.

We came here for Sunday Lunch. It is advisable to book as I don't think they accept walk-ins. The roast dinner (I had chicken) was absolutely amazing, really good. Prices are very reasonable. Nice cosy village pub in the middle of nowhere - make sure you search it out.

Lovely friendly independent cafe based in the church at Frizington. When we went we had booked because it gets packed out by local residents. My friend is local but I was visiting . We ordered tea for two and a lovely big pot with China cups and saucers arrived. More hot water to top up the pot no problem ! My friend had a delicious ( massive) omelette , salad and chips. I had the steak pie ( gorgeous gravy) , vegetables and again the wonderful home made chips ( best ever) . Crumbles or ginger cake with custard for dessert. I just loved the lively atmosphere . So great to see a place thriving in the north west lakes. A real hidden gem.
