This place closed down months ago & looks derelict. No prospect nof it re-opening anytime soon by the looks of it..........................

We were pleased that we booked a table as it was very busy. My husband really enjoyed his soup starter, saying it reminded him of the soup his granny used to make (massive compliment). The steak pie slab was also a big hit and my gluten free hot chilli chicken was so delicious. Good service and a lovely ambience

I only have 4 things to say, 1 Great ambiance 2 Traditional style, not messed with (log fire) 3 Attentive staff, eager to help 4 And food to die for Forgot! Local beer, tick Very reasonable prices (for what you get, it’s a steal !) And can’t wait to try agin Sorry 7 things to say Thanks everyone.

Three of us ate here - didn't book but managed to sit in the bar area by the fire. Good service by really attentive staff. Can recommend Friday evenings for a really cosy meal out in a good atmosphere.

Excellent small inn with a lovely welcoming atmosphere. My wife and I had the roast beef dinner. The beef was very good and the vegetables couldn't have been better. Everyone in our party of 30 enjoyed it. The staff and the hosts were very friendly. I would recommend the Brook Inn to all.

With prawns £ 8.50. Most I have ever paid. Even in keswick. No pensioners specials or small meals . Disappointed in menu.

Booked here based on the trip advisor reviews. I was visiting family for the weekend. Only Sunday lunch was being served. Choice of two meats. Food was served quickly. Really enjoyed our dinner. Very lean meat, good selection of veg. Would definitely visit again.

Three of us had the Sunday lunch and we all considered it excellent ! Liked the presentation ie. meat then topped with mash. Side servings of veg and cauliflower cheese - delicious. We had our 5/5baby granddaughter with us and they provided a high chair which was unlike you receive in some places, spotless , clean and new. They also provided child’s spoons and bowl for sharing our food with her, a nice touch! The young staff were good but perhaps asking if everything was ok after we had been eating for a few minutes might have been appreciated, the boss? did ask if everything was ok on us paying. Free WiFi . Been here in the past when Kirsty was in charge and our experiences of the pub were great, the new owners have certainly kept up the standard. Hope to be back soon ! 5/5

Fabulous ! I work away regularly and am cheeky enough to use Trip Advisor ratings without regularly reviewing myself. However, occasionally it would be rude not to praise and support the Brook Inn. Monday evening and a busy restaurant, friendly welcoming staff, a decent menu and served a fantastic meal. Faultless, thank you.

I rarely rarely feel compelled to write a Trip Advisor review, but I think I just had best piece of steak pie, swimming in onion gravy and coupled with the creamiest mash, of my life. Friendly staff as well!

Came to visit a relative and she suggested this place. Went as a group of 5 adults and a toddler for Sunday dinner. What an absolutely lovely meal! One of the best roasts we’ve had in a long time! So accommodating for our little girl too, nothing was too much bother and the service was top notch. The food was ready promptly and both courses were yummy! We will be back next time we are over. Thank you!

Walked over to the Brook Inn while staying at a local hotel and was not disappointed. Friendly staff and amazing food. Proper pub grub and good size portions at that!!!! This place will not disappoint.

As a local and regular, I have eaten many times (drank many more!) at the Brook Inn. Consistently high quality food, friendly service and good beer, what more can I say?

You always get a warm welcome from Ann and lan and staff at the brook, the food is excellent good portions the Sunday dinner is a must, better to book a table can get busy, i was there for afternoon tea with friends would recommend

Nipped in to The Brook on a whim and was definitely not disappointed. Although it's only small, it adds to the friendly, cosy atmosphere. Every single member of staff we interacted with made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed two amazing meals.

I have just returned from eating at The Brook Inn tonight with my hubby Ronald and while I have never left a trip advisor review in my life, I felt as though I needed to as it was really lovely!!! (not really sure where terry199 gets cafeteria standard from - our meals were far superior to any cafe!!!)

The staff are very friendly and efficient but the food was nothing special. It was a considerable wait for three meals and most of it seemed to be frozen goods not fresh produce. The onus appeared to be on large portions rather than quality preparation and service. When spending almost £60 I would expect a little more finesse rather than cafeteria standard meals. The place itself is run down and certainly not helping any kind of atmosphere, hard wooden chairs without a cushion which after ten minutes are quite uncomfortable. We wouldn’t use the place again

Lentil n bacon soup, Brandy mushrooms for starters, both top quality. I had the surf n turf, steak was cooked to perfection, not at all chewy and the home made coleslaw was lovely, hubby had the chicken n black pudding stack, sure i tried it, OMG, my new fav meal, so moist n tastey, not sure what the sauce was, but it was lush, cant praise them enough, n cant wait to go back.Keep up the excellent food,,,

After the challenge of Scafell, we needed to refuel. The portions served here will satisfy a tired hiker. The slab of pie are 10 times the meat of a greggs slice and equally more satisfying.

This pub looks quite unassuming from the outside, but it is nice and cosy inside. The menu was traditional pub fare, not cheap but portions were generous and the food was very tasty.

Popped in on the of chance they served food. Lovely atmosphere Fantastic staff Wonderful food no complaints at all. Great prices and will definitely be back again and recommend to friends and family. Keep up the good work.

We had dinner here and the food was excellent, location is OK and the staff could be tidier if they had a half decent smart uniform, black and whites etc. Not sure we’d visit again but that’s more to do with trying different places and only go back to the 5 star visits we have

We visited the Brook today and I had the best chicken and veg pie ever. It came with roasted veg and either chips or mash with onion gravy. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff helpful and pleasant. I will be back.

Had lunch with friends here today. 2 mains for £12, a good variety of choice, freshly cooked, hot, nicely presented and tasty. Nothing fancy in the building, but homely, warm, friendly staff, welcoming and a sort of farm house feel with the various tables. Certainly will be back.

Visited for evening meal on a Friday night. Very good service, nice pint, great food - good portions so couldn’t squeeze in a pudding. Recommend trying here if you haven’t for a while.

The Brook is a friendly Inn with excellent food. Plenty to eat in an easy atmosphere. Hosts excellent. I had gammon and it filled the plate, with a salad that was fresh and colourful. Busy place .

This cosy pub does really excellent food - classics cooked imaginatively and skilfully. Stayed at Ennerdale Country Hotel down the road doing a leisurely c2c walk. Came here for dinner and so glad we did. Beautiful tender steak pie for me, chicken in a very tasty white wine sauce for my daughter, excellent parsnip chips, all veg cooked to perfection and well flavoured, and a large selection of interesting desserts. Coconut and jam pudding an unusual combination that worked so well. Nice selection of ales, really friendly owners who clearly pour pride and care into their pub and their cooking. Worth travelling out of your way to eat in this lovely place. I hope to return to sample more of their excellent dishes.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and didn't really fancy the food they had on offer. I had seen The Brook Inn on TripAdvisor prior to our trip and so we took the short 5 min walk to the pub.

2nd time we've visited whilst in cleator. Been excited to visit again after such a lovely evening on the 1st visit. We didn't book, we thought on a Thursday it would be quiet. We were wrong! Lovely owners squeezed us in and made it feel as if it was no bother. All staff so friendly, food is AMAZING, pub is cosy and comfortable. Is a hidden gem and will definitely be back when we have a weekend break again! Recommend to everyone.

Read the reviews and wasn't disappointed. The pie was gorgeous, choc full of meat, nice veg and lovely chips. Recommend highly.

Walked to the Brook from our hotel. Good job we knew where it was! No lights out side, but warm and friendly inside. Had nachos to share for starter , great stuff. I had the chicken and black pudding for mains, OMG hubby had the steak pie, very happy bunny!food excellent portions great price very reasonable!

Stopped here for a drink and a bite to eat after reading the good reviews on here. We were not disappointed. Don’t be put off by the basic frontage, you could easily drive by but please don’t. The place has old world charm and we received a warm welcome. We had the steak pie which was fabulous. We will be back in November

Didn't expect much looking at the outside of this pub, but the food was really good. Slightly more expensive and less choice than the menus online, but really good lasagne that came with garlic bread and chips and nice cod loins, very filling. The drinks were also reasonably priced.

Called in again for a pint and a bite, awesome place that is so friendly, staff could not help you anymore than they do. The pint is perfect, the place is so cozy it takes you back to the good old days and the food is amazing. Hope it stays like this forever. Well done guys

My husband and I were staying nearby in Ennerdale Country House hotel. We had read the reviews and decided to eat out at the Brook Inn (5 minutes walk) It was a Friday evening and we arrived at 17.30 to find they started food at 18.00. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks. Hilary served us. She told us it was fully booked for food for the evening but then went out of her way to see if we could be accommodated. She is a real asset to the pub, so friendly. We got a table for 2 at 18.00 thanks to her. We had the sweet chilli chicken and the evening special of the enchilada. The food was fantastic, as were the drinks. If you are reading this and thinking of going (you should!!) please phone and book first so you're not disappointed as others were that evening!! The service overall is excellent.

Called in here on a Wednesday night and just missed the chef - but the staff are amazingly helpful with a fabulous pint to boot. For sure this is a rustic pub - just an amazing rustic pub. Next visit for food as. My Daughter is moving into the area shortly

Stopped here for lunch on the Coast to Coast walk. Awesome meat pie, great flavor, great crust. Awesome fish as well. A short bit away from the trail, but well worth the short diversion.

Had a fantastic family meal the food was fantastic ,the atmosphere was brilliant and the service faultless. Cant wait to return to try more of the delicious menu thankyou Anne and Ian .

Ate here three times now. First occasion the pub was very welcoming - lovely open fire, attentive staff and the food was really good quality.

We eat here regularly as we live locally and I would add we,ve never had a bad meal. Tonight we had nachos to share - our favourite starter , my partner had the rump steak and I had the peppered steak tagliatelle - great service and great food. Would recommend - definitely need to book as it can get busy so don,t be disappointed.

This is a wonderful little pub restaurant with the most amazing food, all home cooked which you have to wait for but it does warn you and it certainly is worth it. Have been back a few times and would not hesitate to go again as you will seriously struggle to get better at this level of dining out.

Four of us visited on a wet Wednesday evening, without booking. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who found us a table in the back room. Apart from not telling us it was Pie Night or bringing us the Pie Menu, which we would all have ordered from, she served us well.

Visited the Brook Inn recently as after staying at the near by Grove Court. The inn was very busy, but the lovely staff managed to find us a table and we were so happy they did. The food was incredible we each had a starter and the a fillet steak main,the steak was easily the best I've ever had. We revisited the inn the following night and were welcomed like locals such a lovely place cannot recommend enough.

Visitó sobrina joven sobrino y como estábamos en el cercano hotel Grove Court. Tuve la pechuga de pollo en salsa de ajo con verduras verdes frescas y puré, mi marido tenía fajitas y los niños pizza. Todo estaba bien preparado y tenía un montón de sabor, las verduras no estaban cocidas. Me gusta mi judías verdes aún con un poco de crunch y no la típica oferta en comidas tienes flojo pub, eran perfectos. Estar embarazada fue exactamente lo que me apetecía. Los postres caseros estaban tan bien preparados, pastel de chocolate naranja llovizna de mi sobrino era increíble. La señora que nos servía era amable y acogedor (como el resto del personal), conversó con los niños y nos dio sugerencias de otro lugar para visitar durante nuestra estancia. Incluso nos dieron una piruletas desde el chico detrás de la barra por ser tan bien educados. No me puedo quejar en absoluto. Sin duda lo recomiendo.

Comer aquí en promedio tres veces al mes, y puedo decir honestamente que nunca tuvimos una mala comida.

Stopped by for a quick drink and ended up staying for a meal, as we were in the area for business.I had the fillet steak, wondering whether the quality would be any good in a pub that seems so out of the way, but it was surprisingly good.My colleague's meal was equally as good, but I can't remember what he had.Service at the bar was good too.

Booked table beforehand. Quirky little pub. Friendly staff. Service was very good. Choice of Beef/Lamb or half and half, served with homemade yorkshire pudding, mash potatoes, roast potatoes and selection of vegetables. Choice of sweets, Very tasty, value for money - highly recommend.

Just popped in for a drink whilst staying at the Grove Court nearby. It had a superb atmosphere and seemed to be a fantastic and unspoiled traditional village pub. Didn't have anything to eat but plenty of others were eating and food looked good.

Dropped in for dinner on Friday evening without reservation. Lucky to get two seats at a table in the bar. Lamb chops and sirloin steak were excellent choices served with generous portions of mash and sides. Good selection of local beer.

Hadn't booked on a wet Thursday in April, and they managed to squeeze us in! Pleased they did, very good food and local real ales.If you are in the area make sure you book it's worth it!

During our Lake District visit we stayed at an Airbnb in Cleator Moor and searching on trip advisor to places to eat nearby, The Brook Inn came up. Having looked at the reviews, we had high expectations and the places exceeded them!We called to book ahead (and lucky we did, as only 1 table was remaining). We had eaten a late lunch that day, so only managed to have a main course, but it was delicious! (And filling!) we had hoped to return the following night, as the dessert menu looked great too, but unfortunately it was all booked up. It is a regret we didn't get to try the desserts, but we were honestly too full. The Brook Inn is a real treasure! We were really lucky to be staying nearby. Visit it if you can, you won't regret it!

It doesn't look that promising from the outside, but it's a lovely place. Small bar to the right and dining to the left. I had a couple of pints of the guest beer and the steak pie. It was spot on.

Quirky little pub that you would never expect to be located herej! Atmosphereic candles coal fire live music etc . Food splendid produced from the tiny kitchen ! Do visit if you ever get the opertuity.

I visited this compact little pub as part of a group celebrating a special birthday. We had previously ordered our food ( at the owners request - there were 25 of us after all.) The food was absolutely delicious. I didn't hear a bad word about the food from any member of our group & believe me there were some fussy ones amongst us! The kitchen must be tiny, as the pub itself is very small, but it coped well with our large order. What the pub lacks in size it makes up for in character & the welcome that you receive. Well worth a visit.

Exceptional food for a pub...very varied menu and the service is incredible even when full...freshly cooked tasty food and their Sweet Potato Fries made the meal perfect.

As we were staying in Cleator for two nights we called in at the pub on an off chance they would still be doing meals at 8pm.. yes they cater until 9 and boy were we pleased they did. We had an excellent meal provided by friendly staff in a warm atmosphere. The food provided was well above the average we experience in many pubs throughout the country and the choice was varied.

As soon as we went in we were welcomed by the friendly staff and other patrons. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed with a luvly roaring open fire and the food was excellent, highly recommend a visit.

We visited this pub/restaurant with friends as we were staying locally.Never been to this area before so we were over the moon when the food arrived our steaks were cooked to perfection and the chicken tagliatelle was fantastic, so all in all a super night.Staff were so friendly and attentive A must for anyone in the area

The food was lovely and the dessert was Devine. The pub has a very friendly atmosphere. The only downside was being charged £14.40 for a bottle of Tesco wine priced at £5.25 almost a 200 precent mark up. This was a bit high

This is good honest home cooked food. Massive portions and reasonably priced. I would advise anyone to try it but book ahead as its quite small inside.

Visited here twice now and both times have been absolutely amazing. First time I opted for the mushroom fajita where I was given one large wrap full to the brim with filling- also ordered a side of homemade onion rings which were also amazing. Second time I ordered scampi and chips which came with homemade tartar sauce- only thing I could comment on was that the tartar sauce had a bit of a funny taste but was just me being fussy. Overall 10/10 both times. Will definitely return!

A very pleasant first visit. We booked a table beforehand, were served quickly, no delay for food, lovely service. Lunch was tasty (beef and pork), good selection of veg. Delicious puddings.

I have worked near here for over 20 years and had never considered dining here before ; my mistake.Excellent food with generous portion sizes and timely service. I had the chicken fajitas which were somewhat untraditional with the filling spilling of a single large flour tortilla but tasty nonetheless . My colleagues had steak and sea bass which looked good also with hot hand cut chips served in mini buckets.The ambience was somewhat lacking with functional tables but this did not detract from the yummy food.I expect to return to try the recommended Sunday roast.

Very small and old inside but produced a very good Sunday lunch. Beef very tender, homemade yorkshires and good selectionof fresh vegetables. Also good portions. Worth a visit.

Been to the brook many times and have always had great food. The staff are very welcoming and polite. As B&B owners on the coast 2 coast route We have many guest staying from all over the world we provide transport to take guests down to the Brook for their evening meal and I have not had any bad reports, everyone is always very happy with the food and the service. Popped in for a bite to eat - went for the local Cumberland sausage and eggs with chips followed by rice pudding. Fantastic ingredients, well prepared and served. A great gem of a place - cosy, welcoming, dartboard - no TV!! and even a backgammon set.

One is always sure of a nice welcome and a nice meal at this cosy pub. We shall be sure to return when next in the area

We got a lovely warm welcome when we arrived, customer service was very good. The food was nice, we had steak pie, chicken fajita and fish & chips, all the dishes were very tasty and good size portions, however I felt it was a little over priced. Three main meals and 3 drinks was just short of £60. The place filled up quickly and booking is advised. Nice setting and great atmosphere. We would probably go back if we were in the area again.

ended up here after the Ennerdale Country House Hotel didn't look very promising. The restaurant was full and the pub very busy but we managed to find a table in the bar so sat there and had a meal. Food very good especially the steak pie, served by friendly welcoming staff.

Good quality local food! We eat here about once a month and it never disappoints! The Sunday roast is amazing! Only downside is sometimes the cooking smoke comes into the dining area but the food certainly makes up for it!

The food was really lovely. However when we checked that the roll was gluten free (my partner is intolerant) waiter said "well it doesn't look like the normal rolls does it?". How would we know what their normal rolls look like? Only one female toilet that needed updating ASAP

The brook Cosy surprise , not the most comfortable furniture but if you want great food Good friendly service at a reasonable price I can highly recommend you checkout this little gem recently visited my parents from barbados this is my second visit and the food is as good as ever one year later .

Spent one evening here, made really welcome. Live music on. We didn't eat but the .food looked and smelled delicious.

The food and service were great here, and it is good value in this area. My Cumberland sausage was very nice and the rest of my family had steak pies, which were packed with meat!

Booked a table for 3 for afternoon tea , from the minute we walked in the service was excellent . Our sandwiches were fresh and tasty, the cakes were homemade and delicious , scones with fresh cream/ jam, hot tea topped up several times during our visit . Asked we we wanted more sandwiches too which we declined as we had more than enough . Very well worth the money at £12 adult £6 child . Even though I hadn't booked my daughter as a child the owner only charged me £6 for her which I thought was a nice gesture . Defiantly be back - well done

This has got to be the best roast dinner we have ever had!! We went, there was four adults, one child and one baby. We were all catered for and well looked after, the owners take pride in their service and obviously their food! It all comes out piping hot, and I mean HOT! It's amazing! Beautiful selection of vegetables presented like it's a Michelin star restaurant! We even had to go for pudding...again faultless!! We love finding little treasures like this, family ran and full of pride!! Love it!

We've been half a dozen times so far this year. It never fails to exceed expectations. We've ben with family and friends who have all been suitably impressed. Home cooked food at excellent prices, coal fire. It's not the largest pub but well worth a visit.
