We came here for Sunday Lunch. You have to book as its very popular. There is plenty on the menu and the prices are very reasonable. The portions are huge - even a children's portion would probabily suit must adults! I think it was something like £24 for adults (3 courses) or £12 for children. Traditional home cooked food.

What a lovely Sunday roast we had here last weekend with lovely friendly staff. Food was well priced, decent portion and hot. My daughter is coeliac - she wasn’t with us but I always check with staff whether they can accommodate. Very knowledgable on gluten free including advising they would substitute fires for jacket due to cross contamination risk. All round impressed and would return

We booked this after visiting the village in 2023 & seeing the refurb. We wanted something other than a B &B, but some of the “ 5 star” lakes hotels were charging astronomical prices. What can I say, but this is a gem, and we are so pleased we give the other hotels a miss. We were in a skiddaw facing room- bed was huge, so comfy, lovely bedding, high quality. Room had everything you needed , and the decor was so tasteful. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We didn’t eat dinner there, so can only comment on breakfast. I noticed a review that commented on the English breakfast ie sausage, bacon, egg, tomato and mushroom only being one of each. I really feel it is important to add, that while that may be the case, in addition to this you can have as much toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, fruit juice, coffee/tea etc as you want. My partner has a big appetite & he wasn’t at all disappointed, and we were both very impressed by the wide choice of food on the breakfast menu. We are planning our next visit here for 2025, we enjoyed it so much. I don’t think , if I were visiting in the spring/summer, that I would book a skiddaw facing room, given the noise from the A66, but as we had all the windows closed given it was November, the noise wasn’t a problem.

We went for lunch one day and dinner another day. Both meals were enjoyable though portion sizes did manage to beat us. The staff were friendly and professional. One star taken off because on both occasions a cat wandered in the bar and dining room going under tables and then jumping on to an empty chair next to us. For us it was not acceptable - we mentioned it and were told it was the resident cat!!

Our 3 year old son is Coeliac. Most ice cream shops are really accommodating. They will use a clean scoop and take from an in opened tub. I appreciate it might be a little inconvenient for the shop attendant but for the sake of a 3 year old kid you'd make a little effort. They made us feel anl total burden and did not accommodate us in any way. Won't be going again.

Had a table booked for 12:30 Sunday lunchtime. Upon arrival we were alarmed that there were only approx 6 people seated for lunch. We noted how cold the room was and were hesitant to take our coats off. The lady who was waiting on took our order and the starters soon followed. My partner had the soup which was barely warm and very watery. It was served with a brioche hotdog roll which was very odd. I ordered the patè which itself was nice but was again very oddly served with branston pickle! The starters left us underwhelmed and we considered just paying and leaving. Instead we ordered the Turkey dinner and pie of the day. My partner said his pie was beautiful but the chips with it were a mixture of chips, wedges and all shapes as if a child had chopped them. My Turkey dinner was just ok. The Turkey was obviously bought in ready sliced and the pigs in blankets were tasteless. The veg however was tasty. We decided not to have a dessert and quickly paid and left. A very disappointing visit and will not recommend.

Jane St Kitchen is a great place to meet up for lunch or coffee in the centre of Workington. The waiter we had (Andrew) was very friendly and efficient. The coronation chicken I had was home made on site and delicious. My 88 Yr old mum said the chips were wonderful and her BLT sandwich was huge and great!

We came here because of the reviews we read and we were not disappointed. We are both veggies and it can be hard sometimes to get decent food. The veggie fry we had was one of the best and very decently priced. Staff were lovely and friendly. If we're back in Ballycastle we will definitely call in again.

We were staying here for three nights and had dinner here one night. The food is really very good. My wife had breast of chicken and I had duck leg. Both were good sized portions, my wife's with skinny fries and mine with a good selection of vegetables. The sauce for both meals was really very good indeed. The wine by the glass was also good and reasonably priced. Whilst it, perhaps, lacks some atmosphere, being a hotel dinning room, I think that for the food this place is very underrated.
