Central Bistro & Bar in Allerdale

Had gone for lunch in Jane St Kitchen and was told they only served upstairs on a Monday and Tuesday after summer. But don’t be fooled it’s not the same quality upstairs as down. Ordered some kids meals which were ok but the sandwiches were a complete let down. Described as served on White Bloomer bread I was expecting my Beef and Horseradish sandwich to be as good a quality as the bistro menu I’ve had in the evening. What I got was cheap sliced white with dry overcooked meet. Not even sure anything else apart from overly spread marge. For something that cost £8 and took 25 minutes to come felt like daylight robbery. Not sure will be back, and definitely not for lunch. Would have been cheaper and nicer to get a sandwich from M&S and sit on a bench.

Gorgeous food, fantastic service extremely friendly staff. I'm gluten free so, I'm nervous of eating out but, I had no issues.

Great meals, excellent service and the wait staff are amazing, I'll be back again soon for another meal

Booked for 19 of us from work to have dinner as a ‘well done for making it through the 97 days of January!’. I’m always a bit dubious when dining out in big numbers without a set menu though I needn’t have worried. It was fab! Everyone enjoyed their food (lamb loin was delish!) and the service was excellent- especially since we were a little late at sitting down (our fault). My veggie colleagues were really impressed at the choice as there was so many options for them. Really comfortable environment and relaxed atmosphere. It more pricey than some places though when you’re paying for quality it’s never a problem. Think this could be a regular thing! Thanks to Andrew and the team!

Visited the cafe today with a friend not from Workington , I was embarrassed. Limited soft drink availability. Took over half an hour for 2 jacket potatoes . Given option of with salad or coleslaw. Please see photos …. Filling were very small , hardly any prawns far to much sauce very sickly . The staff were lovely not their fault . All other eating places in Workington were really busy but not here, now I understand. Only about 8 people in where we were there approx 12.45 . Explains so much .

Excellent food and very friendly staff , food was served quick and lovely and fresh .highly recommended.

Had an excellent meal at the Washington Central on a Thursday night in May. Service was excellent by the new bistro manager Adrian and his staff on duty, who managed very well considering there was 20 of us. Highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding, I wanted to lick the bowl (but did manage to resist!)

Went to Workington town after spending day in Keswick. Couldn't find anywhere to eat and came upon the Washington Centeal bistro as part of the hotel. Couldn't fault it at all. The staff were very good and the food was wonderful, would definitely eat here again

Never have I experienced such bad service in my entire life. Sat down at our table no acknowledgement of us even being there the waitress walked past us about 23 times without saying I won’t be long or even looking in our direction, proceeded to serve other people before us and finally had our order taken 40 minutes later. Food is lovely but seriously sort the staff out I’ve never been anywhere as bad

I came there with my family for dinner. I pre-ordered vegan ravioli. Considering that it is a main dish that costs £15, the restaurant served it in small plate with a few ravioli, the dish looked more as a starter to be fair. This main dish was tasteless, I was very disappointed and still hungry. I tried some chips, they had no taste as well. It was the first time when I was served an expensive main meal in a size of a starter dish. Everyone one else has had a normal size main meal apart from myself. I wouldn't recommend this place as it is extremely overpriced and everything that I tried including dessert, didn't have a taste which was very strange. I came home and had to make something to eat in the end.

Called in without having booked a table. Ate in the bar area. Good service, reasonable prices. Food was good quality and the fish platter is recommended. Would visit again.

Visited with family for a long overdue catch up. Absolutely delicious food, I had the lamb and I fully recommend it. The cod goujons were also enjoyed by a few in our party. I had the sticky toffee pudding, it was perfectly bouncy with a tasty sauce. The staff were super helpful. Not at all ridiculously priced for the quality of service and food. Absolutely recommended.

Stumbled across this as not many other places were open or had free tables. Could have eaten here many times if we’d had more days, the food was delicious and lots of choice on the menu.

I virtually live in the Washington Hotel and have done for over a year - the hotel it is not perfect, a bit tired in some aspects, the rooms are a bit variable (size/noise/view etc) BUT are always clean, well provisioned and the staff are genuinely great - always welcoming, they try their very best to make your stay as successful as possible, thank you to you all. Restaurant/bistro food here is very good, as mentioned elsewhere a tad expensive for the area perhaps, but a good variety of dishes with specials, lots of local produce and well prepared and presented.

Have been a few times and always found food nice, atmosphere nice, friendly and helpfull staff. Prices can be on the high side however i find it justified as menu and ingredients are of high level.

Have been here a couple of times for dinner. Both times the food has been excellent.My wife was really impressed with the gluten free options. Andrew took great care to check exactly what was available to her. The staff were helpful and friendly.Highly recommended to anyone wishing to enjoy good food served in a comfortable setting. We will return quite soon !

Went last night and had the Christmas dinner menu. The soup was really tasty - sweet potato, bacon and lentil with a warm roll and the turkey dinner was great. Seasonal vegetables were served with it which were very fresh and not cooked within an inch of their life. Lovely atmosphere too with friendly staff. Thanks

I stay at the hotel almost every week, so dine in quite a lot. The standard menu does not change but they do have specials and a pie of the week. The quality of the food is excellent, and consistent, I have seen other reviews claiming this is not always the case, but personally never had an issue. The bar has a good range of beers, wines and spirts. The staff are really friendly, especially Andrew who is character, and has made a few appearances on TV food programmes. I must give girls on reception a mention, they are great.

A special family meal in our local hotel. From the moment we entered the bistro we were all waited on attentively. The food, service, atmosphere and price were all first class. None of our party felt rushed in any way and sat in the bar after our meal in comfort until we left for home.

We had a great evening at the Pies & Pints event on 4th October. The staff in the bar and bistro mix professionalism and friendliness perfectly.The food was, as always, delicious and organised efficiently around an entertaining introduction to the beers by Graeme Mitchell from the Tractor Shed brewery.It's great to see local businesses combining to put on such an enjoyable event - well done all!!

We've used this cafe for years and it had always been excellent but unfortunately in the past few months standards have dropped dramatically. Today the 4 members of staff trying to work the till managed to get almost all the orders or billing wrong . They served my mother in law her soup while we were given our tea. We waited 10 mins more before we were given our sandwiches.... they got the order for the 2 sandwiches wrong and tried to give me a garlic chilli sandwich.... I had requested No garlic as I'm allergic. They did take it back but when it was brought back it was soggy yet had next to no chilli sauce. It had taken that long my mother in law and husband had finished their meals. So sorry to say I doubt we will be back after all the years we have been customers.

I was at the area on business this week and called in for an evening meal, the service was prompt and friendly from the duty manager Andrew who made my visit seem like home from home.I opted for a window seat in the bar area which gave me a good view of the local nightlife in workington whilst sipping my mineral water(due to driving)My food arrived after a short wait, i opted for the daily special which happend to be seabass served with chirzo paella,although i did request chicken instead which Andrew arranged without complication. The paella was spectacular! And i was keen to express my satisfaction to the chef. All in all, my experience was of tasty food at a reasonable price in a cosy friendly environment.

Lovely food in nice surrounding with friendly staff. It was a little noisy to start, kids with party poppers & blowers but then settled for a nice afternoon lunch. 3 course lunch was good. I didn’t like the fact we had to pre order weeks before though

We dined here as part of a Groupon deal, the food was ok, very standard and not particularly well presented. We ordered Halloumi, Chicken and Chorizo as a starter and you could tell that the chicken was frozen chunks quickly cooked, the chorizo was tasted exactly like the cheap chorizo that comes in a giant log from a supermarket deli and the halloumi was poorly cooked, it was black on one side and uncooked on the other. The dish was still edible and tasted ok but there was no care given to the cookery or presentation. Same story for the main, the accompanying salad came with a big wedge of tomato with the inedible core still left in, again everything was edible and not bad enough to send back, but there was no effort or love put into the cookery, preparation or presentation. All in, 3 out of 5 is definitely fair.

This is a very convenient location for the centre of Workington, There is limited parking.so better not to rely on parking on site. It has a pleasant atmosphere and is very clean and bright. The food is typical of cafe food.

We called here for a bar meal after another booking elsewhere was cancelled due to bad weather last minute. Staff are friendly & the food was good. 2 course special had good choices for 2 of our party & the pie of the day for other 2 was all good

I ordered a medium rare steak and it was really well cooked and delicious. We were a party of eight. Food arrived all at the same time and all the dishes were again well cooked. To be honest we have eaten here at different times throughout the year and have yet to find fault with anything we have eaten. There is always a lovely atmosphere in relaxing surroundings. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Absolutely lovely 3 course meal for £20. Great value, great service & great food. We will definitely do this again. A lovely dining experience! We were intrigued with one of the puddings which was liquorice panna cotta, with cola jelly & candy floss ice cream! Wow, childhood memories & fab flavours.

We decided to eat out this Christmas and chose here and we weren't disappointed. From arriving to leaving everything was very good. There members of staff to greet us and take our coats. There was also plenty of staff waiting on. The food was lovely, well presented and very tasty. There was plenty of food but you didn't come away feeling stuffed. A big thank you.

Had a family get together so chose the Washington as it was central for everyone.Have been several times before so looked forward to a good evening.Food ranged from average to tasteless. I had chicken/bacon melt, only the bacon was good. Chicken was very poor, texture and taste. Sticky toffee pudding chosen for sweet. Wasn't asked if I wanted it served with ice-cream/ custard, cream. Arrived as just a portion of pudding. Staff very pleasant, if a bit hit and miss. A disappointment served with a large bill.

Hemos sido para el almuerzo en el Día de la madre, y de no haber estado aquí por mucho tiempo. De nuevo, todo fue excelente. Día pensando madres sería un poco ajetreado, nos sorprendió gratamente que aunque muy transitada, la bienvenida fue sincero, bebidas y menús presentados rápidamente y el ritmo de servicio muy relajado.

Llamó para una mesa, ya que tenía un vale de trabajo para ir al bistro. Fuimos a 7:00 y tomamos una copa en el bar antes de ir al comedor. Tuve el 3 platos por 25 libras. 00 y la esposa sólo tenía una principal y dulce. Para ser honesto, no me puedo quejar del servicio y la calidad de los alimentos. Tenía como principal ya que rape no había tenido antes, era muy agradable. También el bar y el bistro ha sido recientemente reformado y se ve muy agradable y fresco. Sin duda volveremos en el futuro.

Primera visita en un rato y no me decepcionó. El lugar ha tenido una renovación y ahora es fresco y limpio. Ambos tuvimos ensaladas (nueva resolución año que se ha roto) y fueron fantásticos, un montón de carne y fruta para ir con las verduras. Si tuviera mejor voluntad de poder sin comer este todo el tiempo. Comimos allí.

La noche de Navidad comida reservado para mi esposa y para mí. Estándar de la comida no es lo que habíamos comido en visitas anteriores. El servicio era pobre, sólo parecían querer llegar y salir tan rápido como sea posible. No pedimos una bebida antes entonces el primero llegó antes de la copa. No ofreció la lista de vinos, cuando le pedí que nos dieron. El vino, pero en el vino la llegada no abrir o pedido para probar. Era simplemente paquete sobre la mesa. La comida principal era adecuado (Turquía), pero parecía que tenía que haber sido parado por un tiempo. Punto favorable fue la verdura y el postre. Nunca café al final de la comida, simplemente querían ordenado lejos tan pronto como terminado. El ambiente fue de prisa. No el típico de Washington estándar.

Hemos estado en el Bistro varias veces, y siempre he tenido una comida deliciosa. Usualmente vamos a algo especial. Andrew y su equipo siempre nos dieron la bienvenida, con un servicio excelente y amable. La comida es de excelente calidad y bien presentado. Disfruté de un plato de cordero servido con una pea y menta risotto mientras mi compañero tenía un excelente plato de carne con patatas fritas, anillo de cebolla, etc. La tarta de chocolate naranja era fabuloso

Me and my boyfriend visited the Washington central cafe today to get some lunch and were left very disappointed. We often visit the bistro and bar for evening meals and have not once been let down. Knowing how brilliant the food is upstairs we decided to go and have lunch in the cafe situated downstairs.We ordered two lemonades and two bowls of soup and rolls. We tried to pay by card, however, there was no card machine so had to wait to pay. The lemonades turned up in a reasonable amount of time but instead of lemonades it seemed we had been given slightly sweet soda water. Having previously been a waitress myself I realised that the lemonade must have gone off. This is a situation that can easily be resolved. The waitress eventually came over with the card machine and this is when I pointed out the problem with the lemonades. The waitress quickly came over with two new fresh drinks, however, we had the same problem again and told the waitress this as she left to which she responded "oh there must be a problem with it".Now 35 minutes into our wait there is no sign of the soups and no one had been back to sort the drinks out. Tables who came in after us were getting their food and we just seemed to have been forgotten about.We decided at this point that 40 minutes is a bit too long to be waiting on what I would class a small order. We got up and asked politely for a refund. We were greeted by who I assume must have been the manager on this particular day. It was obvious that she was rather flustered and was constantly getting questions from several members of her team which led me and my boyfriend to believe that no one knew what they were doing.The lady told us she did not know how to give us a refund. When we explained what had happened it was made obvious that the problem with the lemonade had not been mentioned to any other member of staff and the waitress who served us had no intention of resolving our problem. Whilst trying to resolve our issue the lady serving us seemed frantic. She had a very rude mannerism when answering the other waitresses questions and her attitude came across as very aggressive. I understand that working in that type of environment can be stressful however I felt the attitude of this manager was terrible and gave us a really bad impression. She eventually gave us a cash refund that was actually 40p less than I paid however I was now at a point where I just wanted to leave. The worst part about this entire experience is the fact that not once did we get an apology for anything. Really disappointing, we shall not be be visiting the cafe again. Certainly not a patch on the service that we receive upstairs in the restaurant.

Met a friend for dinner at the restaurant the staff were attentive the area comfortable and a good seasonal menu. the level of the cooking was very good and the tastes were great. Prices were also reasonable.

My friend and I had a lovely evening meal at The Washington Central's bistro.The atmosphere was relaxed; the decor modern and the presentation beautiful.The menu was full of innovative mouth-watering suggestions: I congratulate the chef for providing such variety. Starters- The crab and salmon rillettes were certainly new to me, and very tasty and fresh. The brie parcels went well with the asparragus: very refined. Main- We really recommend the perfectly-cooked duck breast in cherry sauce on a bed of Savoy cabbage with pulled duck breast meatbally things. Dessert-lemon chocolate tart accompanied by Earl Grey ice cream in a brandy snap was exquisite.For a minute I thought I was in a bistro in London.

Visited with family for afternoon tea which was really nice, plenty of sandwiches & cakes, with a good selection of fillings etc. Andrew & his team made sure we were all kept supplied with sufficient tea & coffee. The staff are always friendly & welcoming. The only criticism was a fresh fruit pastry tart which was a bit soggie, would have been better with a base of creme patisserie maybe, to stop to juice from the fruit soaking through

The food here is always excellent, from presentation to taste & quality. Had the wine & dine offer, starter, main, dessert & a glass of wine for £25. Andrew & the staff always make you feel welcome & looked after. Tried the flaked salmon, crab & tomato risotto as a starter which was fab, will have this as a main next time!

Both had different tues of main courses and shown to our table by the Windows. Andrew has avery charming and pleasant manner took our coats and left menus with us. Drinks were ordered as was our meals. The drinks were soon delivered. The main meals were soon delivered, the presentation of the food and its quality were of the highest standard. We enjoyed the meal immensely well done and your excellent staff. Looking forward to the next time.

Just been to the Washington for christmas dinner with all my family (9 in total). The dinner was lovely, could not fault the food or the service. Never been for christmas dinner before but we are all going again next year. Staff so qiick and efficient at bringing the food to our table. All food fresh and piping hot. Had our xmas do here last night. 19/12/2015, and I must say for £25 a head it was disgusting! There was turkey steaks I think? , not proper turkey some frozen crap! And a tasteless lasagne, I mean come on Xmas carvery, Turkey, beef,Yorkshire pudding and sprouts, will not be going back here any time in the next millenia, oh and there was 28 of us and everybody agreed it was absolutely crap! Come on Washington central , rate your plate. -20! , avoid if you want a nice meal !!!!!!!!!!

We have always found the service & food here to be excellent. Andrew & his team always makes an effort to look after you. The menu is varied & also have Christmas Fayre one at the moment for £32 for 4 courses. The starters, steak, sea bass & sides we had were all good, although we didn't do it justice! Presentation is excellent. Never been disappointed & we will be back.

beautiful meal. 10 of us in total and service was impeccable with a real personal touch. Food was high quality and filling. Very reasonable prices too, especially the deal they have on 3 courses and a glass of wine. Atmosphere was great, relaxed and wonderful surroundings. Will be back soon.

we were staying in the hotel so booked a table for our first night. The staff met us at the bar and suggested we get a drink and order our meal in comfort on the sofas. After around 19 minutes we were shown into the restaurant and our food came soon after. My husband had a steak which was cooked to his liking and said was great. I had the chicken which was also very nice. Our don had a child's meal which he enjoyed too. My husband had creme brûlée and I had the tiramisu, both were delicious

Came for afternoon tea this time with friends. Plenty of freshly made cakes, sandwiches and we even had a glass of fizz! Didn't use the pool which apparently you can. There was us and one other group in the bistro so not too busy. Thanks, we will be back.

Worst food . They can't eve cook a simple dish like steak. I was there on my 1st day and never went back even though it would have been most convenient place to eat.

great meal last weekend me and my wife eat in the bistro I had the lamb and have to say it was outstanding cooked lovely and pink and well rested so not lots of blood on the plate my wife had the tuna sp witch was cooked lovely and pink as asked and the desserts was a treat so well presented and the duo was to die for lovely meal will be back soon

Called into the coffee bar about 1.30pm on Saturday, so missing the lunch time rush. Plenty of tables, wasnt that busy. Decent menu of sandwiches etc. W ent to the counter to order, and thats the main issue. The lady who was taking the order was also making all the drinks, and when someone in the queue infront wants 6 cappuccinos, the next wants other hot drinks, 15 Mins had passed before i was served. i noticed someone else has mentioned this. So it is an issue...However, food only took 10 mins to arrive, and it was really good, we only had sandwitches and salad, but could not fault it. Prices are in line with other places in Workington, and the surroundings are better than most

Had a bar meal at Washington Central today like sitting on the comfy sofas in the bar. Service was good Andrew is very obliging and to serve my elderly Mam a child's portion (which was more than enough for her) was not a problem at all she did manage to eat a mango creme brûlée, brandy snap basket and ice cream for desert which she said was lovely I enjoyed a nice pot of hot coffee afterwards and of course we both sampled the Pinot Grigio again. I have been here numerous times and haven't had a bad experience yet.

We visited the Washington central coffee shop on Saturday for lunch. The food when finally arrived was good but the service was awful. When ordering at the counter I queued for approximately 15 mins before getting served. The lady taking the orders was also making drinks which slowed the queue right down. When the food came out, one sandwich came then about 5 minutes later my pasta came. I would expect them both to come together.

First class meal and service, this was a very enjoyable experience and great value for money too!We had originally booked for Stanley's but after reading their latest reviews we opted to go 'up market' and I am so glad we did.The only 'complaint' we had was there was so much food it was hard to eat it all... needless to say I did :-)Give this a go, you won't be disappointed as it knocks spots off the 'opposition'!

My husband and i took advantage of the dine and wine offer. The food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly and courteous. We would highly recommend the whole dinning experience. We are from the town but tend not to eat out on a regular basis as apart from pub grub you have a limited choice in where to eat. But here the food was exceptional. well done to you all! We will be back....

Recently purchased a new car from Dobies at lillyhall, and was given a certificate off them for a meal for up to 6 people with 40% discount at the Washington central bistro, as a thank you, which I thought was a lovely gesture. As we have been here to dine on many occasions we were looking forward to it and went as a family group of 6It has recently undergone refurbishment & re-opened as a bistro with new menu etc The evening was absolutely beautiful, from the decor, ambience & superb food to the excellent service! All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back soon, thank you Dobies 10/10

Good location, very clean, nice surroundings. Ample menu, all fresh food, well presented. Good value for money, try the shoppers special. Excellent hard working staff, especially Anne, who is always friendly and efficient. Get a table, order at the counter and the waitress will bring your meal over when it is ready.

I have dined in the bistro and bar several times and the food and service has always been excellent. There is a good choice of dishes to choose from, tasty, fresh and excellent value for money. I am particularly fond of their dessert menu, love their sticky toffee pudding, best in the area!

I actually visited the restaurant on two different occasions. Once while staying at the hotel but the first time just as we were passing. This was approximately a month ago so I can't remember what I had exactly but I do remember enjoying it. The setting isn't inspiring but pleasant enough.

Wife and I ate there a couple of weeks ago for an evening meal and were both impressed with how nice the food was. We have been a number of times for Sunday lunch, which is always nice, but this was the first time in years we had went at night.I particularly recommend the shoulder of Lamb.

Visited a few weeks ago on a Saturday night with friends.It was really busy,every table full and the atmosphere was fantastic,full of chatter and laughter,a great feeling in any restaurant.We opted for the £25 3 course meal including a glass of wine which was pretty good value ,the chicken supreme was exceptional. Great to have somewhere like this in Workington, worth a visit !

Great food as always , especially good value 2 course special menu for very reasonable price. Always excellent service and comfortable/relaxed surroundings.

We visited here recently for a meal for two during the evening. We have been her a couple of times in the past and have always been impressed with the quality of the food and this visit was no exception.once again whole bar / bistro area is very impressive and comfortable and the service from all the staff was exceptional, we each ordered a starter and a main and when the food was ready we were ushered from the bar into the bistro area and once again the food was plentiful, beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. We would have loved a dessert but were far to full from the previous two courses so maybe next time we will try one as there will certainly be a next time as we had a great time here and it is difficult to fault in any way.

Had lunch here with a friend and we decided to go upstairs into the bar and bistro so we could chat easier and a bit more privately.We both ordered a sandwich and chips and it was presented beautifully with a side salad and coleslaw and the chips in a separate dish. The staff were also very attentive and brought our drinks over and took our order from the table also.Definitely plan to go there again.

Visited the Washington this evening. My sister had got me a voucher for a meal after being inpressed with a meal she'd had here herself. It was a thoroughly enjoyable meal with great service, thanks (Andrew and Andy). My partner and myself had lovely starters and a beautifuul well presented main. I had the 'trio of puddings', bakewell tart, tiramasu and creme brule. They were beautiful and worth a return visit for them alone!! Reasonable price, £53 for three drinks, two starters, two mains (with extra bowl of chips) and my trio of puddings.Nice atmosphere and staff. Will definately be back, well done Washington.

Visited on Friday night for the first time with my boyfriend. We both had the 3 course meal selection with a drink for £25 each and an additional round of drinks. Choice was really good, atmosphere lovely, food lovely and also really good value we felt. We will return very soon.

We always have a good lunch in the bar, we are always welcomed with a friendly face and whatever we choose is always very tasty. This is our number one venue for a lunchtime meal and was a nice way to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

I visited this 'new' bistro last week. I was with my husband and we both loved all aspects of the bistro. We hadn't visited for about a year and were pleasantly surprised with the new experience.We had pre dinner drinks in the hotel bar but then stepped into the new bisro and wow! Someone has put a huge effort into changing the feel of the restaurant and it's worked. It's very modern, almost boutique but really relaxing and unfussy.The menu has also been updated with some more contemporary choices but the old favourites haven't disappeared. The quality is still excellent with plenty to eat.And I'm delighted to say the same staff are there with the usual informal and relaxed serving style. Keith and Andrew were both around and were obviously proud of the new bistro.Try it out if you've been before, you'll be pleasantly surprised and if not been before then enjoy it too. I will be visiting again and not leaving such a big gap this time.

I agree with the other reviews. Much improved and much more modern both in decor and menu. Atmosphere was great too. Lots more food choices from old favourites such as lasagne or steak to a new take on chicken supreme which was lovely. Highly recommend. Thanks all, will be back.

We tried the newly refurbed Washington Central Bar & Bistro at short notice on a Friday night (1/8/14) and were delighted with both the standard of service by the impeccable staff and the top quality food on offer. If you want great service and a great meal in lovely surroundings then look no further.

We have dined at the Washington on many occasions. Our first time at the Bistro, we found it a lovely experience for fine yet relaxed dining. Service and food both excellent, a lovely ambience, and I really like the way they support local producers, it shows in the quality and taste of the food. My first choice for lunch or an evening out in the area.

The Central Bistro has been totally refurbished, and looks much more modern and contemporary. Gone are the rather dated chair covers and cloths, everything is now simpler and far less fussy. The food has always been the attraction here now the decor compliments the excellent cuisine.The menu is far bigger with lots more tempting dishes to choose from, and is now individually priced, no set TDH style menu any more. The menu presentation is modern also, offering a large selection of favourites and speciality seasonal dishes.Our food choices were all very well presented, hot and very tasty...absolutely could not be faulted in any way, although portion sizes did seam a little smaller, this was a positive rather than a negative as we often thought on other visits portions were quite often on the overly large size.Our 'old favourite' scallops were again on the menu, although presented differently were simply cooked to perfection. Both the monkfish and duck breast very well cooked and full of flavour. desserts we were told are all made 'in house' the Sticky toffee pudding is as good as we have tasted anywhere, and the brulee so light and creamy.The restaurant staff, like the rest of the hotel staff are very attentative, welcoming and friendly. Andrew the restaurant manager even regailed us with his recent exploits on the TV show 'Come dine with me' which i did watch with a smile on my face, having met Andrew on a couple of occasions. This really is a great place to eat. Well located in the town, close to all the shops, it is a good place to recharge. Food quality and value is superb and the staff give top class service.
