Cafe Bar 26 in Allerdale

As a Husband to a Low Fodmap, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Coeliac (and then some) Wife, I’m always disappointed in the free from offerings when we go anywhere…… Not here! We were thrilled to find this cafe and when we went in for a coffee and a cake, we certainly were not disappointed. We both had Oat Milk coffees (not my scene, but I’ll try for my wife’s sake) and cakes. My wife had a chocolate brownie(GF,DF) and I had a vision of deliciousness that was a slab of delicious caramel and lotus loaf cake from heaven!!! (Sorry, not GF, but DF…EVERYTHING IS!!) Upon getting ready to leave, the staff checked how our visit had been and asked for feedback. I love it when people want to know how you found their business and how your experience has been, just gives it that little bit extra appeal. Definitely going to visit again soon, probably today.

We went for lunch and ordered the marsala 'meatballs' and mezze platter. Both were excellent and we would be happy to recommend either to anyone. The coffee and cakes were also excellent as was the Brooklyn lager. In contrast to a previous review, the toilets were sparkling clean and very well designed. Our welcome and service was superb and together with the high quality of the food made our visit one to remember with pleasure. Thank you.

Called in for lunch yesterday and were delighted to find it's a plant based cafe. We had a mezze bowl with skin on fries and bravas sauce. It was absolutley delicious! Staff were really friendly, beer was good - definitely a place to visit again.

What a find! A gorgeous place for plant based coffee and cake or a full on meal. Their ethics and compassion towards all animals are completely in keeping with my own.

Lovely location. Great location in Keswick and lovely decor. A very comfortable place to settle for a while. Very very tasty vegan food (and we are not vegan). We had the flatbread (pizza really) with chips. Totally delicious. The chips are skin cooked and home made style with wonderful spicy mayo. Coffee is really good too and made with oat milk. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Wish we lived closer. We would be there most days!!!!

As a family of vegans and vegetarians we had high hopes for this cafe and the cakes looked delicious. My chai latte was completely tasteless and so were the cakes which was very disappointing. The cafe staff were nice and friendly though. Toilets were not in a good state either.

Great to find a plant based cafe in Keswick. Lovely coffees and cakes and pleasant staff. In my opinion the flat breads are not worth £10, being only the size of a pitta bread and not very filling. I understand vegan products cost more to begin with but it didn’t feel worth the food received. I opted for the flatbread that was described as having ‘chilli flakes and smoked sea salt’. Unfortunately instead of chilli flakes it features sliced fresh red chilli, making it extremely spicy, which I would not have chosen if I had known. A waste of ten pounds!

I was passing through Keswick and needed a break and something to eat. I'd heard about this cafe/bar and thought I'd give it a go. Food was first class and staff were friendly and helpful. Also dog friendly will definitely use again when in Keswick.

Came here for some lunch with my husband, son and brother-in-law. We are all vegan so we were very happy to come across this cafe. The staff were very friendly. We ordered the meatball subs and lunch meal for our 3 year old. We were all blown away by how good the food was, and we’ve tried a lot of vegan food! Will definitely return on our next trip to the lakes.

We aren’t vegetarian but we would recommend the food here so much! I had the Italian on sourdough which was outstanding. Also great coffee as well!! Lovely place, great food try it out!

We popped into this cafe for lunch this week with our dog in tow. The staff were very friendly, the coffee was excellent and the sandwiches were delicious. We were even told how to make the ‘lobster roll’ . We would definitely recommend this and it’s nice to have something a bit different to the norm.

Staff where extremely polite and accommodating. We are Vegan, and the food was glorious and well priced. We had our 2 dogs with us, and the atmosphere in there was busy but pleasant. The owner even had a natter with us. Will definitely be going back, and can’t wait to try more food off there menu!

It seemed to only sell cakes and was more of a wine bar/ cafe. A bit on the pricey side.

We went in for coffee & cake and I thought it was a bit expensive, £31 for 4 hot drinks & 3 pieces of cake 🤔 Staff were friendly, service was quick, cafe was clean but it was a bit chilly in there. Drinks are served with oatmilk as standard if you want cow's milk you have to ask for it which I thought was a bit strange but not a major problem. It's not to my taste so don't think I'd return, but may suit others so give it a try 😊

Very happy to have found this café. The welcome was warm with a lovely friendly vibe to the café. The food was delicious; the plant-based light bites hit the spot perfectly (there are only so many traditional pub lunches I can do on a hiking holiday so this menu was a refreshing change). I wish I hadn’t been driving so I could have whiled away an hour or two with a glass of wine (or two). Will definitely be a returning customer every time I visit The Lakes, which is several times a year.

We had plant based latte and a hot chocolate. Both were made with oat milk. The drinks were delicious and the staff really chatty. I would normally go for milk but to be honest you can’t tell the difference. They had a great real fire too.

Having walked 8 miles from Bowderstone to Keswick we called into Cafe bar 26 for coffee, redbush tea and cake. We were not disappointed, the coffees were excellent(illy) and so was the redbush tea. However the treacle tart with custard and the carrot cake were outstanding!!. The staff though busy made time for a quick chat. Looking forward to November when we will be back in the lakes and another visit to Cafe Bar 26.

Everything in the café is vegan, so ideal for my lactose intolerant friend. The Illy coffee is lovely and the treacle tart and custard absolutely delicious. There’s a nice ambiance in there as well, and I’ll definitely be heading back there next time I’m in Keswick.

Absolutely appalled. Ordered 2 takeaway coffees. Left the cafe and went into a nearby clothes shop, the bottom of 1 of the coffee cups fell out with piping hot coffee spurting out on our clothes and shoes. Needless to say the shop staff weren’t best pleased and neither were we. Worried that this may happen to others, we started walking back to the coffee shop when the other cup bottomed out as well. Luckily this time over an outside bin. When we told the lady at the coffee shop she suggested we were lying (we weren’t bothered about a £6 refund don’t worry). We said “don’t worry, it happens”, and were told “it doesn’t though”. Rather conveniently the lady was so sure of this, she said she didn’t want to make us another one using the same cups. Pretty disgusting attitude really when her decision to buy cheap products has left customers with burns and stained clothes. An apology would have been nice.

Great vegi breakfast with a mocha and hot chocolate and service was excellent. Staff were good craic and couldn’t really get much better. Sat outside with dogs as weather was tremendous and that’s the way you should be served.Definable we will return.

We were pleasantly surprised with having an Almond cappuccino! Friendly staff and relaxing environment! Away from the busy crowds its a welcome break!

I went here today for the first time and took my (non vegan) mum & dad. I make it my mission to explore vegan places up and down the country and I'm so glad I found this one. The place itself was beautiful inside and the staff were super friendly. We had cakes and coffee and I had the delicious sausage roll. My mum & dad LOVED the cake and said they couldn't tell the difference between the oatmilk and the nonvegan milk they usually have. I would definitely recommend this place to both vegans and nonvegans, as you might just be as surprised as my mum & dad were :)

One positive is you can bring your dog and there is plenty of seating (because it’s so quiet). The staff were not personable in the slightest nor accommodating with the drinks/minor changes I wished to make. If the staff were a little more approachable and flexible this could be a great stop. Food was also very limited, only available what was on show (few cakes and some savoury snacks). A little disappointing.

Called in for coffee and cake ...very pleased to see a plant based cafe bar so close to the town centre. Coffee, hot chocolate and cake were lovely and the place has a good vibe. Very friendly, knowledgeable and obliging staff made for a great experience. We will definitely be back.

Although the cafe is temporarily without a chef, they have sourced excellent savoury vegan food from the local area. We had the Mediterranean veg quiche and a cauliflower bhaji pastie, which was particularly delicious. The service was fantastic, and really friendly. To top it off, there was a selection of lovely vegan cakes, including my favourite treacle tart, which I bought to take away. I look forward to coming back when the full menu is available.

Had a vegan sausage roll and a coffee with oat milk, the service was excellent and the staff very polite. It’s the first time I have had a vegan sausage roll and it was the best sausage roll I have ever had. Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in Keswick.

An unexpectedly tasty light lunch in the middle of Keswick. We had the cauliflower and chickpea pasty which was really delicious and the carrot cake was great. We are not vegans or indeed vegetarians but we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the cappuccino made with oat milk was a revelation!! We would absolutely recommend this original cafe.

Lovely setting, friendly service and delicious food. We don't particularly seek out vegan restaurants, but the cakes and scones were fabulous and were new recipes to try out! Thank you for being so inviting.

Cafe Bar 26 serves the best coffee in Keswick, our favourite spot in town also serves great cakes and we are not vegan

Can’t really rate the food as we didn’t get any. We went in and asked if they were open and were rudely told “what for? We’re not serving food.” Which I was a little confused by as it was 1.30pm (so said open until 5pm on Google) and it is advertised as a cafe, so unsure what they do serve. It wouldn’t be so bad but we travelled 40 minutes to find a plant based cafe, so was a wasted journey

For me the best vegan in town, the food was absolutely delicious! The desserts were also great. 🤤 They are dog friendly and the space is well decorated. Super!!

Great little spot that I visited with my partner and dog. The staff were really pleasant and the food was to die for! I’d recommend getting the cheese and tomato relish toastie… so simple yet so delicious! If you’re after a nice lunch spot that is dog friendly, this is the place to go!

Me & my husband went in for a hot drink never had oatmilk before it was delicious. Had a lovely lunch Turkish style flatbread with cheese, potatoes and spinach it was delicious. The staff were just so friendly and it was a lovely relaxing atmosphere.
