Lovely independent coffee shop. Great friendly service, good atmosphere, lots of chat between customers. Excellent coffees, lovely mugs and good cake. Can see why it’s always busy!

Called in here yesterday for a takeaway lunch, ham salad baguette. Lovely fresh ham and plenty of it, with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, coleslaw and mayonnaise with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Husband had a savoury tuna baguette with all the salad. Best baguette I have ever had!

First time visit to this cafe/coffee shop but hopefully I can plan another visit to Cockermouth soon and get to have another fab breakfast. Staff are so friendly and welcoming and the coffee is good too. Great value and thoroughly recommended.

Booked a table at another local restaurant. Sat for ten minutes without being acknowledged!! So thankfully we left and ended up here where the food and service were exceptional. So much to choose from on the traditional menu and the house wine was of a good standard. Thank you team we will be back

We used to eat in Veeva weekly, but since the change in staff it hasn’t been the same. The menu isn’t as good, lack of variety on the specials board, just not the same. We had lunch there today and my husband’s quesadillas was very thinly filled, and the portion of skinny fries had reduced to a small bowl from a lovely big tub. Not good considering the price. You used to have to queue for a table but it was practically empty! I don’t think we will be back in a hurry. Also they don’t let dogs in!

Booked this for my birthday today as I had heard so much about it. It was so disappointing. It was Mad Friday (I blame the parents) Atmosphere was non existent. Half the tables were empty. Food was very poor - we all had pizza and it was the worst I have had in a long time. I am on Slimming World and was prepared to blow it for my birthday as a treat, I am so disappointed. We are trying all the restaurants in town and so far this is by far the worst, we won’t be back £90 for 3 pizzas (small tart type, mine was very doughy), 1 chips, 4 beers and 2 glasses of wine

Crispy chicken on flatbread. Very dry, deep fried strips in a batter on a piece of equally dry flatbread. The whole meal could have been bought frozen from Iceland. The glass of wine was quite nice, but I won't be going back.

I recently just visited the old posting house after a recommendation and OMG the food is amazing! The best lamb I’ve ever tasted. Well done chef! I was told the lamb is al local Which we appreciate. This place is one to watch. I can see them getting a few awards in the future. I’ll definitely be back with family.

Lovely place to have a hot drink and a snack , got a vegan scone ( which are hard to find in most places) it was delicious only complaint is it could of been bigger lol! and a oat milk hot chocolate which was good.

Staff were so friendly, welcoming, bubbly and warm, they really made our experience when they were having a laugh and bantering with customers. The food was delicious, really good portion sizes and reasonably priced. Didn't have to wait long at all for service, drinks or food. We are so glad we decided to try this place before we left Cockermouth to return home. We even asked to take some scones with us for when we got home.

This was our second visit to this cafe which is quickly becoming a favourite. This time we only had time for coffee but it was excellent, as was the service and atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit

We stayed last year at New Year but just in the hotel as B&B, Cockermouth has loads of great pubs and restaurants so we loved our stay. This year we upgraded and did the New Year’s Eve meal, absolutely incredible, nicest food we’ve had all year and worth the one year wait. Thanks you to all the team at Manor House, it’s like staying in a Christmas Card
