Really wish I had tried a cake, they looked so good! The chai latte I did have was lovely, piping hot and full of flavour. We were staying nearby and we’re only able to get a table when walking past on one occasion as was always busy, a great reflection on the service and quality of produce I think.

Called in here yesterday for a takeaway lunch, ham salad baguette. Lovely fresh ham and plenty of it, with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, coleslaw and mayonnaise with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Husband had a savoury tuna baguette with all the salad. Best baguette I have ever had!

Had breakfast here after a stay at The Tithe Barn. Highly recommend. Good quality food well cooked. Great coffee. Lovely staff.

We used to eat in Veeva weekly, but since the change in staff it hasn’t been the same. The menu isn’t as good, lack of variety on the specials board, just not the same. We had lunch there today and my husband’s quesadillas was very thinly filled, and the portion of skinny fries had reduced to a small bowl from a lovely big tub. Not good considering the price. You used to have to queue for a table but it was practically empty! I don’t think we will be back in a hurry. Also they don’t let dogs in!

My wife and I went for a trip to Lowther Castle and Gardens with the in-laws, and after such awful weather we decided to travel to Cockermouth to treat ourselves to the excellent Fredricks which we've visited many times before. We started with the seafood platter / selection with a portion of chips for the young one. It's a great selection of items for fish lovers! After, we ordered some lovely main dishes, enough for 3 adults and 2 kids (1 kids meal of pizza and chips!) Lovely meal to end of evening. Will be back when next in the area.

Excellent fruit scones and nice coffee reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and although busy we had speedy service. Dog friendly but not apparent from outside so if not a dog lover don’t worry you won’t be surrounded by mutts. Traditional interior but very well kept.

Loved having breakfast at this Swedish style cafe. Food was amazing and the place has a great atmosphere and tasteful decor. I was impressed with the porridge, and the breakfast rolls were lovely too.

Entered to be greated with a sign saying saying to wait here to be seated. Waited almost 10 minutes for anyone walking past us or anyone serving on the bar to even acknowledge us. In hindsight we should have just walked out before then but the kids were hungry so we persevered. We were finally shown to a table under freezing cold air con with slug trails on the carpet (they were probably attracted to the chips nobody had bothered to pick up). We ordered food which took over an hour to arrive and it was grim at best. The woman that introduced herself as restaurant manager was incredibly patronizing when we brought everything to her attention, her insincere use of calling us darling was cringeworthy.

I was a bit tired after a fraught drive from Scotland in torrential rain, so stopped off at The Lakes Tea Room for a coffee. £.6.35 for a regular cappucino and a Mars bar cake isn't bad these days, and I notice they do specials like Cumberland sausage and mash for £11.95, which is quite reasoonable. Nice enough place to stop off for a coffee or a meal and popular with locals and tourists. I'd call back again as the staff were friendly and I didn't have to wait too long for a table.

Visiting this establishment for coffee. Found the female person serving extremely rude telling my partner off for not being able to enter his car reg no. By pressing the screen - her saying he was hitting the screen when he was only pressing firmly but nothing was happening. I was shocked that she spoke in such a manner snatching the screen from him. Extremely bad customer service and definately not a credit to Starbucks.
