We called in at the Rocking Horse cafe for tea and cake with our new little border collie pup. We spent an hour or so chatting with Andrew the owner and he gave us some really good advice on canine behaviour and very useful training tips. The cafe is very welcoming, food is amazing and it’s great that dogs are so welcome and even get to play with the two resident collies in the large secure garden. I would highly recommend a visit for both food and help with dog training and agility skills

Not a restaurant, but a shop. We've visited previously and saw inside the smokehouse, but were here for kippers this time. As we were staying elsewhere, the very knowledgeable lady behind the counter said we'd better have the vacuum packed version, so they wouldn't stink out the car, and then told us how to prepare the kipper so they wouldn't stink out the house! They were just delicious. Also the Crab Terrine in jars is just wow. It's worth the trip if you're in the area.

This is a great, dog-friendly eaterie. We chanced upon it, looking for a cafe before we headed to the beach. We needed to park on the main road as the car park was full: a sign of a popular establishment. Only stayed for hot drinks and a scone, but other guests were tucking into breakfast cum brunch, and all seemed pleased with their food. We shall return when in the area again. Thank you.

Drove past this at lunchtime today on a week away in Seahouses..so having read the very positive reviews we thought we'd try it tonight rather than our usual haunts. We arrived without booking and were welcomed by the hosts. I have to say the food was superb I had steak,it was delicious and my wife had Sea Bass also delicious. We shared a desert..top marks all round. We will definitely call again !

As they've turned what little parking space into an eating area, we had to park 120 yards away in a field car park. No prices on the sandwich menu, wonder why! Opted for the belly pork "stottie" for the missus and the prawn and crayfish stottie for myself. Belly pork is fine with the rind for a plate meal but not for a sarnie, please remove the rind so we can try and eat it. The prawn and crayfish had little content except lettuce and tomato with a few of the cheapest, tasteless tiny prawns available. Both were £12.50 EACH, Shocking. The "stotties" were about 4" round and very home-made, give a miss.

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.
