Food was great, one of our more discerning sausage sandwich eaters voted this the best sausage sandwich they had had and "proper" sauce was on offer. The Craster kipper bun was really good. Great coffee, lovely friendly staff, who thankfully helped us find where we were going (no mobile reception in Craster and the Tourist Info is now closed permanently).

What a find! Amazing kipper roll & the bacon & haggis was equally fantastic as recommended by such a friendly team. The choice was made with the toss of a coin but we had half each anyway. Soooo good. We even got some haggis to take home . We complimented your team when we bought some kippers in Craster - the lady said her son always comes to you on a Friday which has to say something!! We shall be back next year after the Lindisfarne festival! You deserve to be successful & your family team are a fantastic advert for Craster & kippers !

Apart from strong coffee, £20 bought us 3 hot rolls and 2 soft drinks. Generous portions of freshly-cooked ingredients elevated all items towards exceptional. While the man-sized meaty burger and crispy Chicken Royale were both great, to sample the Auchtermuchty's haggis and bacon is to love it (especially when topped with Rothbury Rager or Arson Fire from the Mad Jam Woman). Set us up for a great day on Holy Island - many thanks to Andy (fellow Scot) and his other half. Strong recommendation!

Kipper in a bun was simply that! And nothing wrong with that...soft white bun and delicious hot kipper pieces. Easy to eat as the bread disguises the tiny hair like bones! Plus obligatory tea! My only concern was the price discrepancy between the website ( checked for opening hours) and the van itself. Website says kipper bun is £3.90 and tea £1.20....actually price at van was kipper bun £4.90 and tea £1.90. So an increase of 30%? I was happy to pay the increased price for lovely simple food but the website needs an update! Not moaning as I said the kipper bun was delicious and at £4.90 still an excellent lunch. They also have a vegan burger now !

Came across Pipers Pitch on the way back from the village to the car park having been unable to find a cafe. We had coffee and sandwiches, the menu was extensive, we chose crab and cheese salad sandwiches. They were excellent, beautifully served and packed full of filling, the price was very good value, having seen crab sandwiches at nearly £15 on Holy Island you could have had two at Pipers. The couple running it were extremely friendly and helpful, definitely stop enroute back to your car .They do decaf coffee which is a bonus .

Piper's pitch is our 'one-stop-shop' for a fantastic lunch break. Andy & Lorna go out of their way to ensure that you receive a freshly cooked meal that tastes superb! This is a business that most people will return to once they have tried their fare. Excellently priced and a decent quantity to slake the biggest appetite. We had worked our way through the entire menu except for the Craster Tower - now that has been achieved, it it is very tasty but filling so you need not to have had too big a breakfast beforehand. Some new additions to the menu have recently been added and that is our next task when we return. Long may the business continue and we wish both Andy and Lorna a continued and mouth watering future. Well done!

We stopped at the car park at Craster Tourist Information Centre and found The Piper’s Pitch. There was a healthy queue of visitors waiting to order food. In turn, we were welcomed and we ordered our food. The food and drink were excellent, very reasonably priced and the service was exemplary and appreciated by all who waited the short time while their food was freshly cooked. The ‘ Auchtermuchty’ needs to be tasted to be fully appreciated. We will be back soon!!

It seems unfair to knock off a star because they had sold out of everything and I wasn’t even expecting them to be open on NYD but I had resolved to have either a kipper or square sausage butty and neither were available. Burger was decent, fairground/van style which is what you need sometimes. Ordering system is v good, might use more tables as it obviously does a roaring trade.

Hidden away on the edge of Craster, opposite the tourist information centre and next to the car park, is a fixed wooden stall serving exceptional snack lunches. While most visitors head for the pubs and cafés overlooking the sea, those of us who want something a bit different head for Pipers Pitch. You can get traditional fare, but my wife and I went for the Auchtermuchty, a large roll stuffed with back bacon and haggis, optionally seasoned with tomato chilli sauce. It was more than enough for me. A real treat. Everything is served fresh, so you have to wait a while. They give you a numbered bleeper to call you when the food is nearly ready. When you return, your order is assembled so that it is piping hot when you receive it.After finishing it, we returned for hot drinks. It was better than most you would get in a specialist coffee tea shop. You can even get it in a mug if you don’t need to take it away. For the size and the quality of what you get, it is great value. Most of all your fare is served by people who clearly enjoy what they are doing. We found it on Trip Advisor and two fellow travellers also recommended it. But despite having our expectations raised, it was still a treat.

Before heading out on holiday we looked up the highlights of the area. The Auchtermuchty sandwich at Pipers pitch in Craster was at the top of the list; right up there with their Kipper n Bun. The kippers from the famous Craster Kipper production in the village hit you with their aroma as they are grilled and make your mouth water. The taste is many times more lovely than the smell - you just can't beat kippers, bread and butter. Having said that, the Auchtermuchty Roll (haggis and bacon) with the Rothbury Rager relish is the most sublime bit of Haggis I've ever tasted and for me just pips the Kipper n Bun.I have to mention that the lovely gentleman who cooked our brilliant breakfast was welcoming and friendly and, although advertised to open at 10am was happy to begin cooking for us at 9.30am. Thank you for both the food and the conversation. It was definitely worth the trip from South Devon to visit with you.Ps the coffee was great too, he even had oat milk for my coffee preferences.

Started out a very good food day in Craster and then along to the Ship Inn. Had parked in the field before the village and received a voucher we could use here so stopped off on the way into town. Spotted the queue and hoped we were on to a winner, which I knew we were once the kipper sandwiches were ready! Warm and just the right level of salty - I would've had a second if I could have managed it.

Decided to go for a late breakfast before having a look around Craster, paid our £3 parking fee which I noticed many were complaining about it being cash payments and that signal in the area makes it impossible to pay online, we always make sure we have a cash back up in the car just in case, but I think the owner of Piper’s Pitch was good for giving advice to the many! We ordered our butties, one kipper sandwich, one sausage, mushroom and egg, one bacon and one sausage and bacon, no payment was taken until the food and drinks were ready and our buzzer let us know to go collect it, approximately £20 for 4 breakfast butties and drinks. The square sausage was very good, a hint of pepper gave it a kick and made it more interesting than a traditional sausage, my Dad loved the kippers and would definitely go back given the opportunity, shame we. Would have a 3 hour drive to return! The guy in the hut was really welcoming and friendly, chatted away with genuine interest in where we were from. The area gets very busy by lunchtime and parking seemed to be limited, go early to avoid the queues and crowds. Coaster is a quaint little village with good paths to walk to Dunstanburgh Castle, great views too. We will definitely return.

Without the friendly team at the Piper’s Pitch many hopeful tourists to Craster would be very frustrated. The parking fee payment arrangements (presumably overseen by the local council) are poor /antiquated. The WiFi provided FOC by the team at Piper’s Pitch was the only way to access the car park payment website. WiFi provided by council in the same spot was so slow that it proved impossible to pay on the suggested app. Thank you to Piper’s Pitch and what lovely coffee too. Come on Northumbria CC, sort it out!

Stopped here for brunch after being recommended by a friend. Great, friendly service and good food. I had the square sausage bap which evoked memories of when I used to live in Scotland. Will definitely be stopping here again 👍

Stopped off in Craster for a walk on Bank Holiday Monday. Kipper in a bun x 3, good hot tea, and 2 specialty coffees, plus millionaires shortbread. All of it absolutely delicious and brilliant value for money. The owner was worried that one of the kippers was a bit small so cooked us another on the house.Great banter and great generosity of spirit. We’ve now added the Pitch to our list of Northumbrian ‘ must be dones’ and we will be back next year for sure. Thank you!

Knew we’d be visiting the area and had been told about the Craster Kipper Buns, right up my street, contacted the owner on Facebook to see if there was a cut off time for them being served, very quick response saying “No worries, I’ll keep one back for you, just say your name when you get here”,WOW! Absolutely delicious, and for £4 it was a bargain, well worth the slight detour to Craster and I’ll be back for another one for sure, the burgers ordered by the others were also delicious and excellent value,Lovely, friendly couple, thank you so much, we’ll see you again

There is nothing quite like a hot kipper in a bun for a long walk along the coast. And topped off with what is truly the BEST caramel tray bake I have ever had! Great food and lovely chats - definitely going back.

What a friendly chap! Great place to start a family circular walk; Craster to Howick Hall, then back to Craster via the rugged cliff tops, stunning scenery! Takeaway cups of coffee and tea (free biscuits to fill our pockets) to set us on our way, then back for hot sandwiches and the most AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS chocolate caramel slice, huge enough for everyone to have a decent portion - thank you!

I was recommended the Bari Tea Brewery by a friend and was not disappointed. The range of teas on offer was vast with many interesting flavours! I had the green ginger tea with a scone which was freshly baked and was very tasty! Service was very good and all the staff very friendly.

I had the Steak and Alnwick Stout pie with Buttery mash, mushy peas and gravy - with out a doubt the best pie I’ve ever eaten, The steak melted in your mouth. If you order from Belta Pie Co. you won’t be disappointed!

Cannot fault Atelier at all. We went here after reading the reviews on line, and I am so glad we did. I would recommend you book in if you definitely want a table. One the first visit we all had a different flavored pie and they were all delicious. It was nice not to get the normal chips/mash on the side and instead it was served with salad and pickles. You left feeling full but not stuffed. There was a good choice of beers and wines available and these weren't very expensive either in comparison to a lot of restaurants. Service was spot on. Everyone was friendly and welcoming.
