Very popular and cozy pub at the corner of a quadrant of cottages in Low Newton by the sea. Very good sized portions. Lovely food from a select menu. We had monk fish, Italian bean casserole and steak and it was all delicious.

Female kitchen staff member gave rude stare whilst I took a photo of the drinks prices. Lovely view of the sea but pub is spoiled by dogs everywhere & overpriced warm beer. No hello, goodbye or thank you from staff. And what is with the door behind the bar continuously banging?!?!

The Ship Inn has a good feeling from the start, it is in a great situation with traditional decor and furnishings. No music, no internet just sit yer'self down and have a natter. Everyone is friendly and the staff are really switched on, yet it has a relaxed atmosphere. Well worth booking in advance as it is very popular, don't expect to simply drop in and expect a free table unless it's a wet Wednesday in January!

A lovely pub in a picturesque location, but perpetually ruined by a really poor system whereby everyone is forced to order their food and drink at the tiny bar. There’s always a long queue at the bar which isn’t pleasant for those standing in the queue, those sat dining beside the queue, or the the staff bringing out food fighting their way past the queue. Surely table service would be a good idea, as well as a permanent outside bar for drinks?

Been here twice, both times without food, and during the day. This is a busy little pub in a lovely spot, just off a magnificent bay. It attracts lot of people so you often can only sit outside. Beer is fine and brewed there. Think the menu is limited, but that is down to limitations of their size and location. Food looked fresh. Parking is a mile away. But still it brings in the crowds.

My wife banged on about the food being great. I was starving! Should have checked out the menu before I left. The menu is basically different sandwiches, pies, and some kippers. Ended up getting a pie can't even remember the filling, but it was nice. It was a pie. On a plate. With some salad leaves. I should of gotten a sandwich. I might of been on a bad day when there was nothing left. The pie wasn't my first choice. The ship wasn't my first choice actually!! She persuaded me. We stopped off for a coffee and a cake on the way home to cheer me up.

Overall, i loved The Ship Inn. The location, food, and beer were lovely. In fact, Bought a slice of the best home made fruit cake that I've ever had, here. The beer brewed in the UK on site microbrewery was exquisite. And the Pub itself is an absolute treasure in a gorgeously tiny hamlet, by a super scenic (if smelly) beach. The biggest downside was that the place was rammed on the day we went. It was after the summer holidays, but there were so many tourists here, i just wanted to get out. This was clearly affecting the service to the extent that my server was a little brusque. I don't blame her, I would have struggled to deal with so many people. I'll give the server this: she dealt with my girlfriends food intolerances better than mist places. That was very considerate. The most irritating thing for me was the ridiculous (one lane) queue stretching out if the door. Have the British public forgotten how pubs work?

The setting is wonderful, very old and quaint with a beautiful view of the beach. The menu reads well but when the food comes it is very disappointing, and very over priced. Not worth the money. The Ploughman's didn't have a pork pie, which is basic for a Ploughman's, but it did have children's vegan veggie straws, very strange. I wouldn't recommend this place for more than a drink.

The Ship Inn has a small brewery next door and serves its own ales and cask. We visited on a Wednesday bearing in mind it was the summer holidays the pub was busy both in and outside. It’s not big inside but we did manage to get a bench outside. The weather was great so preferred that option. Set within a small court of fisherman’s houses it has a lovely view to the beach. Note parking might be a problem as there is no car park. Access only for residents. Would recommend a visit just to try the ales.

I used to really like coming here, but it’s really slipped down in my expectations. Food was ok, but really over priced for the quality and size of the portion (£14 for two small fish cakes and an average side salad). The place also feels like it needs some money spent on it, as it’s looking pretty run down and huge pool of water collecting by the door needs sorting. Obviously it’s a dog friendly pub, but even arriving before anyone else, the place smells of wet dog. Feels like it could do with a 3 month closure to completely renovate the place. The beer is still very good, but that’s one of the few positives. Not really the pub it used to be
