Stopped for a coffee which was good but the fruit cake was even better! Interesting pub menu ,must go back sometime as it's in great location

Had a stunning dinner here tonight. For those who appreciate fresh homemade food cooked to perfection. We had the mackerel pate to start with Pesto Linguine and Cod Lion as the main course finished off with an apple crumble. The cod was cooked to perfection with champ mash potatoes and a pea puree. The Linguine was home made with freshly made Ship Inn Pesto and local cheese a bit like Pecorino. The crumble on top of the apple and cinnamon was to die for. All washed down with their local hand pulled beer and food wine. Can't wait to go again. I think the menu is different every week/day, another good indicator of fresh and local.

We stopped for a couple of beers at the end of a day's walking before the minibus arrived. It's set in a beautiful horseshoe shaped set of fisherman cottages around a green looking right over the coast. What a fantastic location!!!! Staff friendly and happy to explain the history, very relaxed ambience, local beer, seating inside ( if its cold) and outside in the sun on benches chairs and on the lawn (obvs)

Great little pub trying to cater for all. We had reserved a table for a Thursday evening and glad we did as it was busy. The staff are really pleasant and friendly. The menu was limited but it looked like it changed on a regular basis depending on what's available. If you want a more personalised dining experience then come here not the one up the road. Would definitely recommend.

Didn't eat here but the menu looked fantastic. Great selection of local beers, gins and wines. Perfect idyllic location. I would highly recommend.

Nice little pub at the end of a good walk north or southwards. Spoilt for myself that there were no provision made for coeliacs. Beer wise. Food wise, we were provided you were willing to pay the surcharge of £1.25 for the gluten free bread! When this was questioned I was told that's what it is, if you don't like it you don't have to eat here! Not the response I expected, especially when the pub isn't exactly situated where there is an alternative. Suffice to say I opted for a lovely crab salad, without the expensive bread, and my good lady had a lemon kipper salad with the non expensive two slices of brown bread. As I said it's a nice little pub that is very busy with us walkers, just be aware if you've got an allergy to gluten. It's tough! Otherwise it's lovely place to stop off at .

A true hidden gem right on the beach. Fantastic atmosphere with the live entertainment . So glad we found this location .

Nice, ok pub. Food was fine. If you are celiac/gluten intolerant, there is £1.35 addition for GF bread! This is about half the price of a GF loaf! I doubt we would have received that much bread with our meal. We questioned the manager about this as we felt we were being penalised for having an intolerance. We were told that we didn't have to eat here,take it or leave it basically! My husband had the meal, without the bread. The attitude of the manager didn't promote a good, dining experience. We won't be going there again. We are fairly local and know the area. The Joiners Arms in the village is a lovely, welcoming place to eat.

Fab pub, with great beers they brew themselves. Situated next to a gorgeous bay too. Small menu, but high quality. Gets very, very busy in good weather and around school holidays, but worth the wait! We usually buy 2 pints each when we get to the front of the queue to save queuing twice!

Excellent meal, butter baked fish with real veg😋 warm and welcoming staff to both humans and dogs. Definitely a great find 🤩 Thank you 🙏

Flying visit for a quick drink, having walked past several times previously. Sunny weekend, so packed outside with every available bench taken (this was only at about 12:00 too) ... but not a soul inside which was a relief. Nice drinks, cosy atmosphere, would recommend.

A wonderful wee pub in a stunning Hamlet. Great pies, sandwiches, and salads. They brew their own ales, which are excellent. It is very dog friendly and just a few metres from a stunning beach. A superb watering hole for Northumberland coast hikers.

It was very busy, and understandably so. Great pub with lovely atmosphere and fabulous view of the sea. We didn't eat, but plenty to choose from on the menu. The coffee tastes good. Extremely dog friendly.

Very busy but excellent food and beer brewed next door

This isn't a pub, it's a restaurant. Came in for a pint this evening after a cold, wet and windy walk along the coast. Thought we'd hit jackpot with the fireplace and good looking selection of cask ales, however we were told we had to sit outside as all the tables had been reserved for dinner (even though there were plenty of tables and chairs free). Absolutely no attempt to make space for us and wasn't even an option to stand at the bar. The whole experience was made even worse by the sour beer which we left on our outdoor table in the 7°C wind and rain. No apology about making us sit outside and made us feel very unwelcome. Won't be going back on principle. Clearly prioritise diners over drinkers, so bear that in mind if you are expecting a warm friendly pub.

Never fails to provide a great spot for a stop for a drink or some food. Great location near the beach. Simple menu done really very well, and some of their own beers on tap. A definite favorite.

Sorry we have been coming to your pub for years but yesterday in the sun as cyclists we just did not feel welcome the culture of couples outside not willing to share the space and treat cylists as 2nd class citizens. We waited with curtesy to take a table on the grass only to be in competition with a couple who already had a table nearer to the pub and did not consider those waiting to be seated outside. Such a shame!!

Called in at lunchtime yesterday. Crab sandwiches wonderful, v full of crab. Tempted by fruit cake, v rich and dark.

Beautiful location overlooking the fisherman's cottages and stunning beach nearby. Nice choice of food and hot coffee was welcome on a bitterly cold day. Had a lovely ham and cheese toastie with real ham and not the plastic stuff. Loved the fire inside, wooden floors and character of the pub.

We were brought to this place by some friends and it’s quite the find. Pub was friendly, busy and the menu is really good. Amazing location. Watch the parking though, the area in front of the pub is private.

I came here around the 10th of January, me and my family stay in a cottage literally a minute walk away most januarys and now in the summer i will not be coming back! i know this was over two months ago but it was shocking the food we received for fussy eaters there not a-lot to choose from, i got potato skins well done to the chefs because i thought it was impossible to get all the potato of the skin never seen such talent! seriously, no potato at all just scraps, ridiculous for £6 it could be any vegetable and we wouldnt have known because of just skin, after i felt like i needed to go to the dentist because my teeth were hurting how rock solid there were shocking! the service was nice, but really expensive for what it was literally had crisps for my dinner that night luckily wasnt overly hungry!

Found this cosy establishment at the end of a no through road. Well worth the time to fine . They brew their own beer ..the wheat beer was delightful. Have always got 4 on the go. Food was very varied so would suit any pallet. Jenny went out of her way to make our time there enjoyable. A must for locals and visitors alike Well behaved dogs welcomed. Parking a little difficult if mobility issues are a problem. Wonderful outlook over the sands.

Saturday - pie night at The Ship Inn. We love pie night, try to visit as often as possible, never disappointed. We have also visited for evening meals, alway excellent, a reassuringly small menu but a good range and the quality is superb. I’m a vegetarian but our friends have the steak and reckon it’s one of the best, good steak cooked properly. We like the atmosphere, it’s quaint and cosy. If the sun shines, it’s great to sit out front and look out but it was dark and wintery last night so the fire was going.

We didn't eat here as we were walking, however the lunch menu was very much that- sandwiches and light bites and focused on crab.

Went with a group of friends for thje supper club taster menu. This one was vegetarian - not my usual cup of tea but suited some in our group The food was excellent.I didn't feel I missed meat or fish at all And there was just the right amount neither stuffed nor wanting more. Each course was accompanied by a selected & superb beer brewed from their own micro-brewery. As usual the ambience and staff were fab

It was out of season when we visited, but the place was still buzzing. Great congenial atmosphere with excellent pub grub served by very personable staff and washed down with extremely good ales brewed next door.

Food is always fresh and tasty, staff are friendly and fun, views outstanding. What is not to love about The Ship Inn... nothing it's amazing!

Visited on the 8th December -- Walked from Beadnell to Craster and dropped in on this place by chance. Wow what a fantastic place with a great selection of beers ( own brewed ) and the food was just as amazing. A special mention should go to the bar staff who were super friendly and they even sorted out the bus time table for craster to Beadnell for us. We'll be back

Lunchtime visit. Great pub and microbrewery. Super people. Food delicious. Dog friendly. It's a really welcoming place. Parking is a few hundred yards away. But an easy stroll. Great beach to stroll on, too.

Stopped for lunch before continuing on our walk. Dog friendly and cosy with an excellent selection of food which was well presented, hot and very tasty.

Just brilliant. I had finished a tough walk all the way from Alnmouth in the snow, which was heavy going . I was very tired by the time I reached the Ship. I got there just in time because the kitchen was just about to close, but they were very kind and made me a bowl of tomato, basil and chilli soup. Which was amazing. A couple of pints of a very pleasant pale wheat beer. They also phoned a taxi to take me back to Alnmouth. Thank you very much to the amazing people at the Ship Inn at Low Newton.

Long awaited visit. Super, warm and welcoming, great in house beers, smashing kipper. Highly recommend.

We stopped in here for a drink and cake, I had a very nice home brewed ale and my partner had a coffee, it's a lovely location, you are protected from the wind but with a view of the sea

Lovely little Seaside pub. Very much needed good quality local beers after a walk along the beach. Nice and traditional pub atmosphere which is hard to come by nowadays. Could have quite happily stayed for a few more beers if I wasn’t driving.

Visited at the weekend. A single dog barked and staff were quite poor with the owners telling them to leave. Another couple with quiet dogs were then told, if your dogs bark you'll be asked to leave too. One look at their site shows there's a difference between a dog friendly pub, and dogs 'welcome' but not tolerated.

Arrived at this very busy pub and luckily found a table as it had just started raining We had a dog with us and although she was well under the seat and table started to bark and despite my husband trying to settle her we were approached by a waiter and asked to leave as told it will upset the other customers due to the low ceiling and nature of the building This pub is advertised as dog friendly !! And looking around most people around had dogs with them. I don't usually like tripadvisor to decide whether it's worth a visit and wish I looked before we came to the pub as there are some similar reviews who had an experience like ours Unfortunately we won't return or visit again.

Was appalled to be here at an apparently dog friendly pub. Arrived with my two cockers. Was told twice to tell them to stop whining or we would be removed. A second dog owner showed up and their dog barked with excitement and they were told to leave. Please don’t advertise yourself as dog friendly if you can’t tolerate noise. Not acceptable and not ok for dog owners. I definitely won’t be returning. Not that it makes a difference.

A potentially nice pub in a picturesque location but ruined by disinterested staff and an inefficient queueing system. Surely table service would be a good idea, as well as a permanent outside bar for drinks?

Food was good, but tiny portions. £25 for a slice of beef and a Yorkshire pudding wasn’t value for money. I would have taken a picture but I am not sure the camera could zoom in enough. Did feedback at the time, but not much interest in acting on the feedback.

This was a gem of a find. Well worth the drive off the main coastal road to find this lovely pub with some amazing views. The menu was lovely and chatting to the team changes weekly. I would recommend booking in advance as there are maybe only about 10 tables inside. The pub has seating outside which is a great spot for drinks and both inside and outside are dog friendly. The pub also has its own brewery! The food was very fresh and simple but utterly delicious. A walk along the beach is also needed as it is beautiful. We will definitely be back. Came back for a second visit and glad we did. Everything was as good as we remembered.

Friendly pub next to the beach. Good selection of beers including their own . I think their food offering is more snacks than main meal...so it's really about the beer.. TT likes the place.

Amazing food for walkers, great soup with artisan bread, beautiful choices, bit too traditional or starchy , great service, much getter than the jolly Fisherman in Craster which is overpriced and pretentious.

A great little pub by the sea. Very friendly, warm and welcoming. When the weather is rough, you could spend an afternoon in here - no tv and jukebox. Brilliant.

Lovely place to have a drink after a walk on the great beach

Obviously very popular after a walk on the nearby beach. Full of dogs, which is ok if they're well trained. My food was nice, but hubby's toastie was overcooked and looked really unappetising . He said it was just about ok. Unfriendly waiting staff

not a lot of people in at this time but a bit of chat going on between tables anyway, forgetting you are allowed a pint of beer in England and still drive I opted for a cappuccino and a slb of a heavy duty fruit cake with a bit of cheese which was delicious my wife gave me a sip of her amber ale which was also delicious, on top of that from previous visits great food and dog friendly.

We have been several times and today was no disappointment. I think the order and collect service we had today was brilliant. Food is fresh as you like and made to order.

A proper pub, in a beautiful location, serving the best crab sandwiches and beer. We visit lots of places in our campervan and The Ship Inn is up there. We love the walk on the beach from Embleton to enjoy this traditional pub. The fact it is always super busy is our only gripe but this is clearly testament to this lovely little inn!

Lovely location and dog friendly. Lots of nice beers to choose from: the landlord had to give me a lowdown on the different offerings. Was busy on a Sunday afternoon, but we found space at an outside table. Didn't eat but the menu looked inviting and the food being served looked good.

Everything a pub should be. Great food and atmosphere, brew their own ales, dogs welcome, and friendly bar staff. We came twice on our stay in the area - at lunch on a busy Saturday and in the evening on a quieter Monday for some live folk music and it was perfect each time which not many pubs can manage. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Gorgeous pub

Most delicious crab stottie ever. Well filled. Well tasty.

Unimpressed. Left hungry and feeling ripped off. Only got a 2 as the food we had was very fresh but £13.50 for a crab stottie and £10.50 for a crab sandwich you might get a leaf of salad or a couple of crisps with it. No such luck. Literally just an expensive bread and filling. The staff made no effort to engage at all. Our food was placed on the table without a word. No ambience, not good value and won't be going again. Feels like they rely on the location and lazily go through the motions with everything else.

Very nice pub with good beer in a picturesque location. Sadly, this is where it ends. Experienced shockingly rude service when we ate dinner which has completely ruined this pub for me (there appears to be a common theme in the reviews regarding this).

We loved this pub...at the end of a beach walk from Embleton. Beer was fabulous, brewed on site I believe and food excellent too. Location was so perfect and such a friendly landlady!

Great location but that's about it. Beer was terrible, a queue out of the door otherwise I would have taken it back. Service was very impersonal. Unusual for this area as staff in other places have been amazingly friendly. We won't rush back.

Really lovely food and excellent service. Unfortunately our evening was spoilt by one table with two dogs which barked throughout the evening and the owners who did little to dissuade them. Although the staff spoke to the owners they failed to take further action when the dogs continued to misbehave. The pub says "make sure your dog is well behaved" but the pub owner didn't take further action by serving them outside or asking them to take the dogs outside? To do nothing is just poor management. Dogs will be dogs is not excuse for poor behaviour and perhaps why some dogs are only tolerated rather than accepted?

Firstly, the evening meal we had here was delicious, though a little expensive. There is a limited choice of dishes and wine by the glass but what was available was very nice. You do need to book in the evenings too. Dog owners do take note, however, I would say dogs are tolerated rather than welcomed (particularly in the evening) and not appreciated if they are likely to make any noise. This is clearly a point of irritation for the landlady. Given the high percentage of dog owners who visit, who they are happy to take money from, this attitude is questionable! Diners are seated quite closely together in 2 reasonably small areas, if your dog will silently lie under the table in that situation, all well and good. If not, you may feel more relaxed going elsewhere with your pups. Another review on Trip Advisor in July confirms this. Dogs are dogs, accept them and everything about them or don’t accept them but don’t embarrass their owners, or any other paying customers, in the process!
