We were visiting Corbridge Roman Town and my husband decided to investigate places nearby for lunch. Well he found an absolute cracker. Predominately a bakery and patisserie with a few tables to eat in. We bagged a table outside the front feeling very continental and overlooking the pretty church and small market square. I went in to order and whilst there was a little wait this was just because each customer was treated with individual care and attention. We ordered sandwiches, cakes and hot drinks everything came to £33 which we thought was very reasonable considering the quality. The staff were delightful especially Julie (I think) the assistant manager who served us. The food was delicious especially the Peach Melba which seemed to defy the laws of physics by having fondant icing on top of whipped cream without collapsing. Highly recommend!

We popped in today on the way back from our holidays, it's the first time we've visited since the cafe opened so was good to see what it was like. There was quite a long wait to be served, but nothing too major, there seemed to be a problem as they'd run out of milk!!! Anyway we bought a sandwich and drink to eat in and cakes to take home, whilst ordering the lady serving us seemed a little distracted but our food came and was really tasty. However the huge disappointment was when we opened the box of cakes when we got home my husbands was totally wrong, he had ordered key lime pie but had received a tart with raspberries, meringue and a macaron on...all sound lovely but he really dislikes meringue and macarons, so wouldn't eat it. Not a huge issue but when we live an hour away we can't just pop back. Food in the cafe was great though!

I had big expectations as the shop was very busy. We went predominantly for tipsy cake which was ok but very expensive at almost £10. The cakes looked amazing but I am afraid style over substance. As a regular baker of cakes myself was looking forward to a treat. At £5.50 on average for a single cake I was expecting a decadent experience. The strawberry Tart's pastry was very hard. I understand it has to withhold the fillings but I almost lost mine. Peach Melba was so sweet there was no other taste. I am genuinely sad to give this review.

Lovely Bakery in the beautiful village of Corbridge. Very popular and can get busy, but well worth the wait. So much to choose from, luxury cakes, sandwiches and pastries. Savoury selection is very popular with the hubby! Cakes are packed in boxes to take away Quite pricey but the quality is amazing. We visit often, mostly on a weekend We love Corbridge Parking is available but often all spaces are taken so be prepared to wait or park elsewhere and walk Vegetarian sandwiches are not available very often which is disappointing (we don’t all like meat!) The shop has recently upgraded so there is now a seated cafe again very popular and busy

I can’t comment on the service as I didn’t receive any. I waited in a queue, everything looked very nice the lady in front commented that she could have eaten her cake by the time she was served as there seemed to be lots of staff standing about but not lots serving. I was only after wholemeal bread and was happy to wait but when it got to my turn the lady serving just completely ignored me and started serving the people behind me. I had already started saying what I was after so was quite embarrassed actually I said excuse me I think I was next ‘oh she indicated that someone else was serving me the person in question turned round and looked confused as she hadn’t been. So I just said it’s fine it doesn’t matter and left. It doesn’t take much to follow who is next in the queue and to not ignore people so as I said I can’t comment on the service as I received non!

It’s always a disappointment coming here with friends/family. The cakes, sandwiches etc all look amazing but with a dairy allergy nothing is suitable. Each time I have requested a bacon/ sausage sandwich but without butter to be told they can’t do that despite them being labeled as made fresh. The level of baking and food available is really second to none. It now offers a small cafe section which is finished to the same impeccable standard. It is worth a special trip into Corbridge to treat yourself to some cakes as the range and presentation is fantastic. The prices reflect the quality of the products but if you have the means it's worth it. Everything I pass on the A68/9 I'm drawn in the direction of the town, which is worthy of a visit anyway. Use the free car park over the Tyne bridge and walk over, even if it's a few calories it will help address the significant intake from your cake of choice.

Firstly. I will say the shop itself is stunning. As is the choice of baked goods. Phenomenal actually. I came away with a brioche type bake which is lovely and the coffee is good. However my concern lies in the lack of training in allergens. The law today does dictate all staff should not only be trained in this field but also "You must provide allergen information if you sell or provide food to your customers directly. This could be either: full allergen information on a menu, chalkboard or in an information pack. verbally, with a written notice placed in a clearly visible position explaining how your customers can obtain this information." Also "Food businesses must make sure that staff receive training on allergens." I can appreciate the worry of serving someone food who has allergies. However, pretty much every single food item I buy for my weekly food shop generally says "may contain nuts" on whatever. So as an anaphylactic sufferer, I don't expect many places to be able to say they don't handle nuts. But I do expect clear and concise allergens to be stated as outlined above by the UK law. Nothing was provided accept a small receipt looking thing that the young lad looked at and for me to be told "everything" has nuts in it. And the safest one bet was the brioche. 1 thing out of a bakery that sells well over 40 items. Please follow the laws and if you do have something in place that I wasn't shown, then please update your staff. Unfortunately I felt the staff just weren't ready for someone with allergies. I felt let down.

We visited today, and while the products all looked excellent, we felt a little in the way as a member of staff was moving around the shop with a clipboard and kept asking us to move while we waited to be served. Where-ever we moved too we were in the way and had to move again. Order a few items, got home to find rather than 2 sausage rolls we had 1. We should have learned after our last visit where we ordered 2 cheese scones and got home to only find 1. (Both times we’d ordered a few different items so aren’t sure if we were charged for 1 or 2 items.) Maybe some basic numeracy training for your staff would be beneficial, as counting to 2 shouldn’t really be a stretch! If you’re visiting to purchase, check you’ve got what you ordered before driving home, in our case 30 minutes away! PS the little “Grants” logos on the strawberry tarts aren’t actually edible, they are cardboard. But when left on the strawberry tart I assumed it was an edible printed wafer. Really don’t understand why they have the card on them if not edible!

This pretty bakery is set in a beautiful town. All the cakes looked lovely so we bought a few. I was disappointed when i got home to realise the ingredients on one of the cakes had lots of E numbers and preservatives. I just assumed that the cakes were homemade and i shouldnt have. I only ever buy cakes with real ingredients. The simple egg, flour and sugar type ingredients. I dont like to say a negative but I thought id point it out for others that might care. Its possible the cakes behind the counter were homemade so maybe the bakery can comment. Its still a lovely shop and if you are not concerned about ingredients then you will be pleased to stumble upon it. The whole town is lovely there.
