Stopped off at this lovely pub for an ad hoc lunch date. Cosy pub. Warm welcome I had small portion of fish and chips, great value for money. Lovely homemade tartar sauce and fabulous chips. My wife had steak sandwich, apparently steak tender and plentiful. Pudding menu looked great, maybe next time! Thanks folks

Absolutely fabulous staff, lovely village feel, local pub. Good selection of drinks at great prices. We had a mixture of chicken curry, fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce, pie and chips. All the food was amazing but I had the curry and coupled with the herbed rice, quite possibly the best pub curry I’ve ever had. For a fairly small menu, there’s a great selection for all to enjoy. Great service, prices and overall experience.

This is how to do a destination pub! We had heard good things about this place and it certainly lives up to its billing. Food was delicious and service prompt and friendly. For the quality I’d say it was good value for money also. They could teach some other pubs exactly how it’s meant to be done!

Visited for lunch today and it was fabulous, recently taken over by new owners Gary and Charlotte and all I can say is wow! A really warm welcome, fabulous food, the mushrooms on sourdough is one of the best starters I have had in a long time, absolutely delicious. New opening hours 12midday to 10pm every day except sunday which is 12md to 6pm , can't wait for my next visit. Highly recommend.

We found this wonderful Inn on the off chance. We were extremely lucky as the owners found as a table, but they were nearly fully booked (would recommend ringing and booking). The menu is not huge, but it doesn't need to be as we found something we all liked and the food was high quality and delicious. Could not fault the service, really friendly and welcoming. The location is beautiful. Loved it here and when we come back to Northumberland will make sure we visit again.

Stumbled across this pub today and took a chance, and what an absolute treat it was. The beer was good, the atmosphere was nice, warm and welcoming staff and excellent food to finish. Next time we are local we will definitely be coming back.

We arrived at the Horseshoes Inn and parked in their spacious car park. There is a great beer garden, perfect for the evening sun. The Inn itself is homely, traditional, clean and tidy. Recently taken on by new owners, it is a beautiful family ran place with a welcoming feel. The toilet is spotless and well maintained. I love that they have sanitary products, spray, deodorant and air freshener available - a lovely touch. When we arrived we were met by Charlotte with a lovely warm welcome, we were then shown to our table by Lara with again, a lovely friendly welcome. Lara was our waitress for the night, she was attentive and knowledgeable - nothing was a bother. Theres a good selection of drinks available, and a very inviting menu for food. I visited for an evening meal, after some deliberation we decided to order the wild mushroom starter and the prawn and crayfish cocktail starter. The wild mushroom starter is indescribable, a superb firework of delightful flavours - easily the nicest, most outstanding starter I’ve had in my entire life, arguably the nicest dish I’ve had! The prawn and crayfish cocktail was simple and flavoursome, a lighter starter ready for a generous main! For mains we went for fish and chips and chicken, bacon and leek pie. Portions were generous making good value for money. Everything home made and attention to detail was great. The fish was huge with homemade batter, chips and Tatar sauce. The pie was full of filling, the mash very flavourful and the sauce was delicious. While we definitely didn’t have space in our tummies, given the starter and main being so nice we had to try a desert! We both ordered the strawberry cheesecake pot which tasted great. We did see some of the sundaes going to other tables and they looked incredible too! Overall, a fantastic evening. I would highly recommend this place for food, drinks and a friendly atmosphere!

After stumbling across The Horseshoes Inn we decided to stop for a bite to eat. We were a little apprehensive to learn it was under a new ownership and they had only opened the day previous. We decided to stay as we were starving and I am so glad we did. Despite having only been open two days the team at the pub were amazing. So attentive and work amazingly well together. When the food arrived it was beautiful. Presentation and taste were both exceptional. The atmosphere and feel of the pub fits with the cute quaint village it’s located in. We loved it so much we went back the following day for lunch

Tuesday 20th August 2024 we can't share my review yet as we've been unable to find it open at the advertised opening times. And no answer to phone calls. We are staying local and would love to book a meal but alas you have to be open or make communication possible. Website says open but the doors are locked we waited in the carpark till 6.15 other people also drove away.

It was just over a year since I last visited the Horseshoes Inn and I’m glad to say nothing had changed. We received a nice friendly welcome shown to our table and the service was excellent. There was a good choice on the menu plus extra on the specials board. The food cannot be faulted and with the portions you had better be hungry. My only disappointment is that it’s not closer to my home address so I can visit more often. It will be first on my list when I next visit Alnwick.

Great old pub in a quaint little village. Food is fresh & homemade. Sourcing fishing locally from Crater. They have daily specials plus an extensive menu. We popped in for dinner after playing golf at Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course.

Super country pub a few minutes drive from Alnwick and Alnmouth. Traditional pub food, with generous portions of fresh locally sourced ingredients and super home cooking. Beer was just as good, so could not want for more. Service was friendly and it was a pleasure on a rainy June day to sit in front of an open fire. Thanks all we very much enjoyed it and will return next time with are in Northumberland.

This Inn is in a lovely village location but it is in need of refurbishment and renovation, otherwise a very warm and welcoming Inn. It has real potential and in my opinion would benefit from more support and custom from the local villagers. I’ll always drop by when I’m in the area, it’s a jewel that needs a polish.

We took a long detour to come after searching for this place on google and viewing the hours which said Open Now. It was Wednesday at 1 pm. Despite the google overview page showing hours open Wed 12 until 3 pm and TripAdvisor saying open now, sadly and annoyingly it was not. Apparently the website has bar hours and dining hours and underneath, it said 'booking is a must'. It should have 1. Had that indicated on the Google overview page and 2. Listed it at the top above bar on the website.

We would have booked but didn’t have any phone reception so turned up on a miserable day only to be told it would be 45 minute wait for a table. Decided we would wait and were seated quicker than expected. Beef burger, haddock and chips and garlic chicken were all very tasty and lovely big chips. The dog agreed! Shame we didn’t have room for a dessert as looked lovely and reasonably priced compared to other places locally - should have got to take back.

Stopped off for food with our dog,the service was great staff could not do enough for you and spoiled our dog,they gave him a treat,and after our meal they brought out some chicken for him, a. Gem of a pub loved it

We have just ordered steak and ale pie with chips and veg, it was like having a home made dinner, proper home made chips and a dish full of fresh seasonal vegetables, it was really lovely , and we was made very welcome, including our dog which was allowed in the bar, and water was provided too xx

Booked by my wife for my birthday meal. Was greeted in a friendly manner and shown to our table. The food and drinks were served promptly. I had the Gammon and must admit I found it rather salty. The pub was very quiet but we had an enjoyable evening.

12 of us went for a 65th birthday meal, on arrival the first impression was this place is a bit old and dated but clean and friendly staff. The food was absolutely fantastic and portion sizes were huge. The only thing we were left disappointed in was the fact they were fully booked for the following night so we couldn’t return! Would highly recommend this place and we will definitely visit again when back in the area.

My wife and I were visiting the area and we decided to give the Inn a visit after looking at some online reviews. Pleasant country inn with an authentic feel and very welcoming staff and hosts who couldn't be more helpful or attentive. I sampled some of the local beer which was delicious and my wife some of a local cider . I had the salad with a generous helping of locally smoked salmon and prawns amazing and my wife had chicken in a white sauce with generous amounts of veg and massive tasty potato wedges which she thoroughly enjoyed. Its great to have authentic home cooked food and this is becoming less common in pubs where the food is often bought in pre prepared. We were asked if we would like dessert which I would have loved but we were just too full although we did have another drink each to cap off the lovely meal. Would definitely visit again if we came back to Northumberland on a visit. A real asset to a beautiful County.

We visit the Horseshoes as often as we can with our 3 kids!! Mark and Louise are the most friendliest hosts ever!! Always make a fuss of children, friendly and accommodating!! The food is fab!! Never had a bad meal, generous portions, always clean plates from us!! We always know we'll have a delicious lunch when we come. Thanks guys, keep doing what your doing and dont ever change!! We decided to come here after reading the excellent reviews to celebrate my husbands birthday. The food was outstanding and all food was freshly prepared. Like several other reviews the portion sizes were very generous so you will definately not be leaving hungry. The staff are friendly and welcoming so if you are looking for a lovely meal at a reasonable price then this is the place to go. We will definately revisit if we are in the area again Well done and keep up the great service

Lovely, tasty fresh food and very good service. We had our dog with us and they had set us a table up in the bar area which was a great spot. Staff were helpful and attentive, as others have said the portions are more than generous so we did have to take a box home. Lots of produce is locally sourced. Well worth a visit

We have just returned from the most amazing Sunday lunch. Gorgeous Prawn Cocktail to start then an outstanding Beef and Pork Roast. Went here today with my family and the food was absolutely beautiful. The burger was the best burger I've ever had (and I've had a few 🤣) the service was top notch and they were great with kids, they went above and beyond.
