The best restaurants in Lesbury Northumberland North East

Delicious take away hot chocolate and a lovely, friendly lady serving. This was a marked contrast to the Station Buffet, also at Barter Books.

We had been recommended to try this restaurant, so we tried it. Our first indication that this might not have been a good choice was that no one ever came to our table to begin the service! Everything was on us, from ordering drinks, food, dessert menu or the check. We never received any water or were asked if we wanted anything. Now we did see a glimmer of hope from some of the staff, but one waitress seemed like she would rather be somewhere else. It was like it was the first night they had been open and no one knew what to do. Now it was not all bad, as the food was good, plenty of it and at a fair price. Proceed with caution and definitely be assertive with the staff!!!

Very friendly. Basic range of drinks. Well worth a busit if you're passing.

We were really looking forward to lunch at The Treehouse during our first visit to Alnwick Gardens. We’d planned to have 3 courses from the lunch menu but the service from a variety of waiters/waitresses was so slow that after an hour we decided to skip dessert. My mushrooms on toast were cold and my husband’s soup came without the gluten free bread he’d ordered because they didn’t have any. My fish was lukewarm with over-cooked vegetables and his pork was satisfactory but everything was far too salty. They took the cost of the soup off our bill but the experience has put us off going again.

Great family day out A really good mix of things to entertain children (soap making, crafts, Harry Potter broomstick flying and shows) and adults (state rooms, towers and grounds). The annual season pass makes it a reasonably priced attraction. Good food options for lunch or space for picnics

Food was what you expect, something that staves off hunger only, service diabolical, order we were given belonged to someone else, happened to 5 of us in the drive thru. Total cluster **** zero apology. Atmosphere more life t the local morgue

Lovely place, when ordering wine the waitress finished off a bottle of wine and topped up our glasses with another presumably the same wine but it was disgusting… too busy ans too embarrassed to complain. Will not be going back for wine there. Way too expensive £9:95 per glass.. would not have minded if it was drinkable.

Just had an excellent Sunday Roast at the Shepherds Rest. Food really hot, fresh veg and plenty of it. Staff very friendly and welcoming.

Called in 9.52pm to be told they didn't serve non residents after 10pm. Is Alnwick in a different time zone 🤔

Prices are atrocious. All I saw were tourists paying absurd prices for cheap looking food. The food we received, even the birds didn't want it. Thought it would be a nice place to visit. But its just another bunch of chancers fleecing tourists.

We didn’t make any reservations thinking it was as easy to find a Sunday Roast up North as it is down South - it isn’t! The Oaks hotel had availability and did not disappoint! Portions and value for money were excellent! The thing that stands out even more than the wholesome food is the service provided by what I deem to be a small team - efficient, smiley, relaxed and accommodating. Everything you would hope to see from a hospitality team! Sue, Sharna and Tyler were fantastic - as a leader in the hospitality sector myself the management team of the oaks hotel had better keep an eye on them, if they decide to travel down to Guildford…there’s an opportunity for each of them ready!

Average quality food, poor selection, overpriced, and it took 1 hour and 40 minutes to arrive at our table. The faces on every table near us looked grim. We won't be back.

I had just arrived in Alnmouth for the weekend - just off the train from Edinburgh! What a wonderful start to my break! I hadnt been in The Sun Inn for a few years, I understand these are relatively new owners? Very welcoming and friendly! Spotlessly clean!! I had a cream cheese and salmon sandwich which was amazing and not overly expensive! Beautifully presented!! I shall certainly make this my first port of call next time I am down in Alnmouth!!

Popped in for a couple of portions of chips. Unfortunately on opening the box of chips we discovered that although they tasted ok they were completely dried out, must have sat for ages. Very disappointed.

We didn't play golf, but did pop in to get a few drinks from their bar and to sit on their benches by the gold course. Bar was quiet, and the staff were pleasant.
