The Red Lion Inn in Northumberland

Lovely little pub, real fires, friendly barstaff. Ate here at lunchtime. Food and service good. Tried again in the evening, it was busier and we had to wait for a table, first come, first served policy, no problem. But we did have to complain at the length of time to be served after 2 tables who had arrived and ordered after us had their food arrived before ours. We'd gone for the sausage and mash and the burger.

Great comfortable hotel - attentive staff and great food in the restaurant - plus dog friendly - A particular favourite of ours was the special offers and themes on certain nights for the food.

Know the patrons from old so dropped in on the off chance. Parking was fine however it was a Wednesday night so potentially this was timing. The area looks beautiful with winding streets and picturesque houses. The pigeon breast starter was sublime with all flavours complimenting each other followed by the venison burger it worked well

Such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with excellent food and beer. Sunday roast sat next to an open fire on a winters day. Bliss.

We have visited the Red Lion several times for drinks & meals. This time we stayed for a 4 day break. Whilst the weather was not so good our stay was comfy, warm & welcoming. Our room was excellent ( No 7), comfy bed & very swish shower/bathroom. The breakfasts are very good. Although would have liked more choice of cereal eg granola & muesli. The pub itself is very welcoming with open fires & we’ve met some very friendly people to chat with. Although the pub didn’t do meals on 2 nights of our stay there are very good restaurants/pubs next door! Especially Bistro 23. Alnmouth is the perfect place to stroll around & the beach & little harbour is beautiful & so interesting.

The best Sunday lunch we have had in a long time. Five stars! Really friendly and welcoming hosts. Highly recommend

We rang last minute for a table for dinner and weren't disappointed. The staff were all lovely, really making a fuss of our daughter, and the food was delicious too. Would highly recommend.

We had a lovely family evening meal today. Three of us had pies, one had a burger and fish fingers and chips for our son! All excellent. Our son has a dairy allergy and they catered to us very well.

Called in late Fridays afternoon, the place was busy and very traditional & cosy. Dog friendly. We noticed they have a wood fired pizza menu so had a couple more pints & a beautiful pizza. Ideal combination.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay which was very enjoyable. Our room was spacious with a large bed but very soft mattress but that is just personal preference. We had pizzas on our first night which were very good and served promptly. The pub is very rustic but full of character and a good atmosphere.The cooked breakfast was good but we feel that cut fruit/yoghurt should be routinely offered. Lovely beer garden for the sunny days. Hosts very attentive and helpful.

Stayed here for 2 nights b&b So lovely, beautiful setting, gorgeous room, generous good quality tea/coffee in room, breakfast was delicious and the owners and staff couldn’t have been nicer. I would definitely recommend the Red Lion 👌🏽

Came looking for emergency food after being let down by the nearby Hope and Anchor… Pizza was delicious! Crispy base, fully loaded with toppings and very quick! Can’t fault it !

Visited The Red Lion on two occasions while staying in Alnmouth, on a Monday and Thursday evening. The staff were consistently efficient, helpful, friendly and so welcoming. The food was of a very high standard and the Bailey's cheese cake was absolutely amazing....the best ever!
