Was feeling really hungry, so went to the fox cover for a carvery. Upon arrival, I was met with what looked like Alton Towers from Temu. After scouring the local industrial estate for a car parking space, I finally found one in the local garden centre. if I wasn't already hungry I would have been after the marathon I had to walk back to the pub. After re-entering the carpark, I was again met with said fair ground I mentioned previously. After multiple attempts at trying to win a goldfish, my attention was brought to a fortune teller. After much debate, she came to the end conclusion that hunger was amidst. I was flabbergasted at her accuracy so asked her for the later lottery numbers! After the fortune teller, I had myself a go on the Waltzer- I forgot how this ride can be and made me terribly sick. I got off the ride and unfortunately was too ill for my carvery. I once again got my map and compass out to re-locate my car and ended up going home, with no goldfish, no lottery numbers and no dinner :(

This is the second time j have been back and my god it was unbelievable! Proper up’d their game! Burgers and Parmos next level well done guys Old review : ****It just started bad as soon as we ordered drinks. Young lad behind the bar started serving us and just went off to talk to another member of staff and completely forgot he had started serving us. Should have been a sign Food came and it was a disaster: Chicken nuggets and chips freezing, mac and cheese loaded fries (chips were warm which was a bonus but the mac and cheese freezing cold haha)! Kids chicken burger freezing cold as well and you guessed it the chips also stone cold! Burger ordered with chilli loaded fries, came cold burger and freezing fries no chilli or cheese! Don’t worry though they brought a bowl of chilli out which was hotter than the sun but tasted of absolutely nothing! Never had loaded fries which you need to load yourself with no cheese! We were literally the second people in the place so wasn’t busy! The manager didn’t really care, cold shouldered us once we complained and eventually got refund of total of £16 for the off the mac and cheese loaded fries and kids meal. Nothing else. No wonder the chefs didn’t really give a toss! I won’t be back, and would suggest looking else where if you want food.***

My husband and I went for lunch. Staff were lovely and friendly and very accomodating. The interior is nicely decorated with a sports bar kind of feel. We were shown to a table promptly and the food options explained as there is bar meals plus a carvery at lunch time. I opted for the mince and dumplings which was a huge error. The mince and dumplings came in a huge soup style bowl and consisted of gravy with some gravy and a bit more gravy with a few bit of mince floating in it topped by about 3-4 mm deep layer of fat on the surface. The dumplings (of which you get 2) were flat as a pancake and rubbery and had soaked up the fat from the surface of the mince soup. The mince soup was accompanied with creamy mash, carrots and brocolli in a side dish which were nice but not sure how you were supposed to eat them with the mince soup as they would be lost is you put them in the same bowl. In the end after avoiding the mince soup and attempting a piece of the dumpling I opted to just eat the veg. To sum up it was like the depiction of a school dinner nightmare. The staff were lovely but that I would say was it's only saving grace.

The staff professional ,polite and welcoming . We decide to have the carvery at £12 each a standard size{ Childs £8 Large £15} The meat portion was generous and tasty but the veg and yorkshire puddings let it down badly. the Yorkies looked like basic small bought in ones, the veg appeared to be factory prepared very much over cooked to the point of almost tasteless the roast potatoes were not in the least bit crispy and mushy in the middle and the mash was so over cooked it was the consistency of wall paper paste and again no taste. the gravy was bland. If the meat portion was reduced and more spent on the veg ect it would have been much better. On the way out we notice a large sign on the road saying the Daily Carvery started from £7.50 ? I really don t like to leave a negative review but someone there needs to try the food

Went for the new menu, the butchers block mixed grill, what an absolute joke! £28 for a thin piece of steak, smallest overcooked lamb chop I’ve ever had or seen, chicken was tougher than the steak and the gammon a similar story! Onion rings severely overcooked so again inedible. Even at half of that price you’d be taking the mick, the fact we overheard the staff say it needed something else on the plate to make it look better says it all! Obviously mentioned this when plates taken away and staff member agreed with me and said they couldn’t do anything about it! My wife’s meal was spot on so it’s such a shame you’ve decided to have peoples eyes out for this pitiful excuse of a mixed grill, never mind the “butchers block” name tag clearly sending the whole wrong message! Sadly there was a few other things going on which I’m not going to mention out of respect to your hard working staff, who where all lovely! You really need to either increase quality, quantity here or seriously lower your prices, at this moment you are simply pub food nothing special allowing you to charge what you do!

To say this place is bad for bottomless brunch would be an understatement! £35 each and 50 mins in we still didn't even have a drink, we stopped a passing waitress who was very polite and said she would ask where the drinks were, at the bar it got worse, "bar manager" pulling faces and slagging our table off whilst she chatting about our order not arriving yet( yes we could see you from our table), but did change her face and manners when we got up and complained whilst asking for our refund, partial refund was given, but our deposit was no refundable some how, would never go here again, deposits are taken for if you don't turn up not to cover the cost of lack of organizations and staff. SHOCKING

Myself and 10 friends came here for a bottomless brunch. The brunch was £35 for unlimited drinks and food, which seemed like a fair price....... seemed like a fair price. We paid at the bar and ordered our first drinks, this where things started to go west. There was only one person serving on a busy Saturday afternoon. This isn't a reflection on the staff. They were nothing but polite and friendly. However, after waiting 30 minutes and a mouth like Ghandi's flip flop, the drinks still hadn't come. There had been no food order taken, and I'm no Clinton Baptiste, but you could see that we weren't going to get the value for our money. I went to the bar and asked for a refund. The lady that was serving was very apologetic. She did have my sympathy because she was given a thankless task. She said she had to speak to the owners. She came and said we'd lose our deposit (£10 per person). Now, twice, we had been in contact with The Fox Cover before our booking, and at no point had they asked for said deposit even though we had asked if they required one. I'm not an expert in running a restaurant, but the deposit is there in case people don't turn up, not for them to take when they can't provide the service they advertised. It's like paying full price for a Big Mac but not getting the burgers in. So after negotiations that resembled Bargain Hunt when they haggle over the price of 19th century teapot, I paid £5 each for myself and my partner. I still don't agree with having to pay that. The whole group got asked for refunds, and they were given. So, if you want a bottomless brunch with unlimited fresh air, then this is the place for you. If not, give this place a wide birth. I do hope the owners read this, I'd be more than happy to talk them about it. Now, in the words of Forrest Gump, "That's all I gotta say about that"

I first went here when it first opened and the carvery was amazing, huge portion with loads of meat. I thought I had finally found a hidden gem. I’ve since been a few times after that and each time it has got worse and worse and the portions have got very small now, so much so that it didn’t even fill me the last time as they gave a tiny slither of meat and a tiny Yorkshire pudding. I’ve attached a photo of the first carvery I got, I can assure you it doesn’t look like this now, so much so, I didn’t bother taking a photo of it as there wasn’t much to show!! P.S I don’t like veg! Which I explained to the server that I would only be having mash, meat and a Yorkshire but he still said I couldn’t have anymore meat.

The service and food here is lovely, however a massive letdown is the lack of accommodation for food allergies. My son has a dairy allergy and the only thing on the menu he could have was fries or nachos. No alternative burger buns (brioche only), nuggets and breaded chicken all contained dairy (this is one of the only places we've been were these food items contain dairy as standard), and the carvery main items are mostly dairy. No desserts suitable either. Having to pay double the price because none of the kids menu items were accommodating was disappointing. Like I said, lovely food and staff but completely unsuitable for us so we probably won't be back.

I complained and the poor waiting staff had to go backwards and forwards, you could see the puddle of oil and the mush that was supposed to be the batter on the plate… I was offered a free dessert and was refused any kind of refund (even though I’d said to the waiting staff that even if it’s 1/2 price) as paying £14 for rank food isn’t on. You don’t come into a pub starving and leave feeling nauseous and unhappy… Apparently the chef was the manager?? How can you manage a pub and kitchen whilst cooking? Clearly you can’t, I was told if have to wait until all checks were cleared before he would speak to me (which I think is shocking) if the chef prides himself on his food and is happy to send out that quality of food, I wonder what qualifications he actually has. The lager I had was as expected and a little more than I would pay in wethers but thats to be expected, my husband had a John Smiths and said it was far too cold and so spoilt the taste, if it doesnt improve he will have to look at going back to Wetherspoons, looks like most loc.als drink Guinness

Family get together and first time since revamping. Greeted as we entered by friendly staff and shown to our table where some of our party was already seated. Monday night so not too busy interior looks very nice and massive improvement on how it was. Good atmosphere Tv’s showing sport if interested. Great pint of Guinness bonus there’s specials as well . Yes you have to order food at the bar but this is pretty usual at pubs these days. 7 of us, food was presented all together and we all enjoyed what we had. Cheese burger was tasty, fresh and the bun was excellent well presented loaded fries were very tasty as well. We enjoyed our visit and the staff were excellent thanks to all definitely give it another go

I’m reviewing The Fox Cover as someone who doesn’t eat in pubs and instead enjoys a few beers in a quiet, civilised environment. A “lone drinker” if you will. Someone who enjoys sitting to have a couple of beers while reading. Before the Fox Covers recent takeover the last time I frequented the bar was January of 2019. The furniture was ripped, tables were unwashed/sticky and generally an unpleasant place to sit for a quiet pint. After the pub being refurbished I was on a walk and decided to pop my head in for a look, I was desperate for the toilet and as an avid walker I can tell you there are plenty of establishments who will decline you the use of their facilities if not spending money. When I asked at the bar if I may use the facilities I was very kindly told “yes, of course” I therefore decided to stay for a pint of Cruzcampo. The seating in the lounge was comfortable, the tables and chairs are of a high standard and the atmosphere was pleasant. Bar staff were polite and courteous and it was a very good pint. Stayed for a second. I’ll certainly be returning for more beers when it’s quieter than most people would like.

I recently visited the Fox Cover Restaurant & Bar, and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish. This outstanding establishment exceeded all my expectations, and much of the credit for the outstanding experience goes to the hotel's owner, John, and the Front of House Manager, Khalifa. The food at the Fox Cover was outstanding and coupled with the 5-star service we received made for very pleasant dining experience. Also, the Chef’s are more than capable of catering for those with special dietary requirements such as gluten free as my partner enjoyed a lovely burger and chips! We concluded the evening with a few games of darts and pool which I must say compliments the restaurant area very well and enhances the already pleasing aesthetics of the establishment. In conclusion, I cannot recommend The Fox Cover enough to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience or even just a drink or 2. John's dedication to his establishment and Khalifa's impeccable hospitality make for a true masterclass in hospitality, I can’t wait to visit again!

Absolutely amazing just wish the menu had more choice and there was room for more tables as sometimes is a little noisy but overall absolutely lush! Place needed the renovation! Glad to see it in good hands as the owners also have the Portland which is our fave place ever!!

My wife and I were down North Seaton at the business park so thought we would pop in here for a bite to eat. Walked through the doors to find apart from from one other person we were it. We were greeted friendly enough by the landlord who informed us they no longer do food. We had a drink and got talking to the landlord who said he is giving up with the place and returning the licence back to the brewery. He informed the brewery of this in December but as of yet there is no sign of them sending anyone to take the place over. He did not say when he is finally packing in.

The Fox Cover is by far one of my most favourite places to eat out. Not only is the food absolutely lovely; but the staff are super friendly also! The dishes have always been super clean and a neat place altogether. Prices have seemed to have went up just a little bit - but no fault of the restaurant - blame inflation! I highly recommend you eating out here if you’re ever considering it!

A really nice welcoming venue, food very good. The staff very accommodating and pleasant. Décor is a little old, but warm, panelled brown wood and simple furniture arrangement.

This is an amazing place!! We stayed here for the week while we were exploring the Northumberland area. The staff are ALL fantastic!! So friendly and helpful! We couldn't have wished for a better place to stay. The bar area is warm and comfortable and, judging by the people in there every day, very popular with locals and visitors alike. Breakfast was first-class and freshly cooked to order... really tasty. Our ensuite room was lovely too, very neat, comfortable and tidy and immaculately clean. We were looked after sooooo well that we felt like family. We had booked to eat dinner there on our first evening but enjoyed it so much that we ended up eating dinner there four out of the seven evenings. Next time we visit Northumberland (which we WILL do) we will DEFINITELY be staying (and eating) at the Tankerville Arms. We can't recommend this establishment highly enough!
