No atmosphere to speak of, staff took over a hour to move plates from the table WE stacked for them. Took 10 minutes to be served thru the app for 1 pint. And to top it off someone crapped all over the mens toilets which was there for over an hour. Disgusting

The standard and quality of the real ales being served has sadly rapidly deteriorated over the last few weeks , used to be really good but are regularly awful now , when returning foul tasting swill to be replaced you are now met with looks of disgust and Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced as a seasoned real ale drinker .An awful experience ,and the amount of regular faces that no longer frequent the wallaw for it’s real ale is palpable !

Attended with work colleague for evening meal. Firstly, the venue is very nicely converted from an old cinema. Ordered food and drink via their app. I ordered a Doom Bar - after a short while, I was told that it was being changed and might be 10 mins - I was happy to wait and ordered a pint of water in the meantime. Then my mixed grill turned up. Sausage, lamb, pork chips and the onion rings were fine. Then we came to the steak and the gammon. Gammon - over half was inedible fat or gristle Steak - 10% was edible meat. The rest was inedible unrendered fat. Waitress was called and after returning to the kitchen with my issues, returned to say that the chef(?) wouldn't be cooking any replacements. Manager called. Explained to her and she also spoke to the chef (?). She told me they wouldn't replace the items as they couldn't guarantee that the replacement would be any better. WTAF?? Who stocks rubbish cuts of meat like that?? I was however, given a refund. Awful food, good beer, nice venue, dodgy chef and/or dodgy purchasing department. Manager very polite but ought to have torn the chef a second one.

Normally love this place and eat here quite often. Returned here after a few months away from the place to try the festive dinner. Priced at £10.69 with a soft drink this is not ‘really cheap’. Meal came with tiny portions of food. The stated chantenay carrots (there were two tiny carrots). Parsnips were that few and far between and so small they were difficult to spot. Turkey was like them cheap reformes slices from the supermarket. The mash which had no gravy on was covered with a hard skin. I asked for some gravy for it to soften it up and was told I would have to go to the bar and pay and order. I complained about the size and quality for the size and was told they come in ‘bagged up’. Offered a refund but then the waitress went off and this was not clear what she was doing as it was the kitchen she went to. No apology or customer service. I had to request an alternative mean and wait ages for this to come. Replaced this with the mixed grill which is normally nice but not today. Meat was fatty and dried out with pink bits in the pork. Yes they were busy but kitchen staff were just throwing the food out and no customer service. Asked a waiter for the manager and was told he can’t find him. The place seemed so badly run today.

We were out for a meal tonight for my Daughter's Birthday, there was 7 of us and to be fair we never even thought about it only been parties of 6.We ordered all 7 meals while we were waiting for our food , my Daughter did the track and trace app and checked us in as a party of 7 , and the track and trace went thought no problem. While we were eating our meal one of the waitress came over to tell us that we shouldn't be a party or 7, she was very loud as the 2 tables behind us looked over to see what was going on. We were very embarrassed to the way she spoke to us. When she came to clear our table she seem to have a bit of a attitude towards us , she only cleared part of the table due to the fact of Covid she wasn't able to lean over , but all she had to do we to explain this and we would have sent plate down towards her. We were never asked if we wanted anything from the sweet menu as the Menu was taken away.I would like to say as surperviser who has worked all the way through Lockdown and Covid dealing with the public on a daily basis I was appalled by the way we were spoken to and her attitude towards us was shocking .I get the fact we are all stressed during the awful times we are experiencing but the way she spoke to us really needs to be address by Weatherspoons!!!!

We were told about the wait for food, however we had been excited to visit this pub, so we didn’t mind the wait. There were 2 serving the food, a young girl with long dark hair and a manager. Both were constantly running around, and despite how busy it was their service was still quick and efficient. When we asked a few questions about the pub the young girl was very knowledgeable and was very kind and friendly. I have raved about The Wallaw in previous reviews but it seems to be dropping its standards. I found the place looking dinghy and in need of a clean. Tables were not being wiped when cleared. The mirrors over the bar have a thick layer of dust. The bar staff seemed less friendly than before with one not wanting to move away from her till to serve. The menu is lengthy and extensive and prices very reasonable but the food quality falls short of expectations. My plate of three types of chicken had decent wings and tenders but the main breaded chicken was soggy inside and the accompanying corn on the cob had been overly boiled and was soggy, shrunken and disgusting as was the tiny pot of coleslaw that looked far from fresh. For the first time I am not in any hurry to return to The Wallaw.

Nice place for a drink and reasonable price food is average but for the price of it you can't complain. They have a dress code which they seem to enforce at there own whim think it seem to depend who it is as some things there are people with shorts and trainers, and not sure what there policy is on kids but our 17 year son is often asked to leave at 9 even though he is eating a meal and drinking coke some clarity or consistency with these policies would be nice.

I’ve read other reviews of the Wallaw and I’m not sure people are talking about the same place. It oozes the atmosphere of the old theatre and has been very imaginatively restored and adapted to a drinking hole. The food and drink are great too- twice I’ve been here now, and twice it’s been without fault. Mrs B and I came for tea before going to see Think Floyd at the Phoenix; we ordered via the app without a problem, the barman quickly brought drinks before the food-he read my mind, and the food followed quickly and was perfect in every aspect; crispy batter on a big fish etc etc etc. Yum yum.

Ladies and Gentlemen...welcome to the main event ! The winner of the Wetherspoons best East Northumberland Pub & Restaurant is..The Wallaw @ Blyth. This is my second review review of this establishment and I have to say that I am doing so because it just gets better and better !! The venue itself is to die for with its old cinematic charm and style. The feeling of nostalgia runs through the building like a classic movie flowing off a film reel. We went at 10:30am on a Sunday morning and the place was spotlessly clean. Now the Wallaw covers a lot of floor yardage and I am sure on the previous evening with it being a Saturday night, it will have been a bit grimy. Well, whoever are the cleaners of the facility, they get the supporting Oscar because we could have eaten our breakfast meal off the floor it was so clean and fresh !! Excellent !! The staff at the Wallaw Blyth too are really the best in the Wetherspoons East North crew. Any question, order, enquiry is met with a happy smile, an immediate informative reply and a charm that the management will be proud of. Thank you 'Spoons team for always making us feel like we are your special guests and you are happy to support our experience. The drinks at The Wallaw...always cleanly poured, staff knowledgeable on any new ales with taster options and always plentiful. I have not yet had one poor or bad ale/wine or spirit at The Wallaw. Now..the breakfast at The Wallaw..always hot, always plentiful and always tasty. I think I have said in previous reviews that some Wetherspoons in the North East are lacking in something or other within their breakfast service...well..not The Wallaw @ Blyth. Lovely service, clean plates knives forks etc and food that sets you up for the day ahead with a full smiling belly. So.. to end this Wetherspoons Oscar award speech..to join the cast of this epic food & drink movie called ' Wetherspoons, knives or forks saves Blyth society ! then get along to audition every day at The Wallaw...always a rehearsal ready to go and remember, not much money needed and dress code : Casual !! ....See you soon !!!

Typical Wetherspoons pub, interesting building with good value food & drinks. We have been here several times for food & drinks, the Curry night is especially nice.

I have been here a good few times now and have never been disappointed. The bar and the table waiting staff are quick and helpful. Good pub food at a good price.
