Very cosy atmosphere, can get busy so would recommend booking. Food was good, some of the veg wasn’t fully cooked. Overall taste was lovely. Would definitely come here again.

Terrible food, horrible dark atmosphere - there was 2 members of staff - the younger one was ok the older one had an attitude kept on staring and whispering, not friendly, or welcoming and created a bad atmosphere. ordered eggs on toast , ( not much on the menu to choose from) Couldn’t eat the snotty eggs or the thick stale tough dry bread. Others couldn’t eat what they ordered, food definitely not up to standard. Did initially order scrambled eggs. Staff came back saying they only do scrambled eggs on weekends? Really? Lol- ( chef couldn’t be bothered) How long does it take to scramble eggs? Didn’t bother to complain to staff, would have been a waste of time, ( hence the honest review )and didn’t want to sample any other stale badly cooked food, so just left the uneaten nasty food, that should have spoken volumes. Party of 4 said they definitely wouldn’t return. Very disappointing. I should have listened to my instinct's, and left immediately, but at least we can warn others now.

Excellent local French restaurant and one of the best restaurants in the area which is shown by how long it has been on Wanstead High Street where many restaurants don't survive so long. The menu is typically French has a good amount of variety. The staff are always very friendly. It can get very busy on Fridays and Saturdays and booking is recommended.

Pedí un quiche de panadería para llevar para una pequeña fiesta familiar. Cuando lo hice me ofrecieron una variedad de ensaladas -todas a medida- para acompañarlo. Fátima estaba a cargo de la gran variedad de ensaladas que se ofrecen y nos hizo la ensalada más deliciosa de brócoli, remolacha y queso feta con una variedad de semillas. No solo se presentó maravillosamente, sino que el sabor era simplemente delicioso. ¡Muchas alabanzas!

we visited this cafe for a week, we were visiting our son, but just having a new baby could not accommodate us, he told us of a few cafes on the high street, but as we walked past they did not advertise breakfast and looked very upmarket, we came across Chicchi near the end of the high street and decided to give it a go, staff very friendly, food cooked to order, nothing was too much trouble, we tried one of the other cafes for a light breakfast, we were not impressed, we have told our son about this cafe, he hadn’t realised it was there, we will be back on our next visit.

Atmosphere is ok but please replace some of the arsy guys serving with women. Let them take their attitudes elsewhere.

Estaba muy decepcionado con mi primera visita a este lugar. Cuando hablé con el gerente, Paul antes de que pudiera siquiera terminar mi pregunta me hizo saber que era grosero con un miembro del personal, en lo que respondí que no estoy seguro de cómo preguntar sobre por qué un cliente de pago pregunta sobre un inodoro limpio es grosero, este gerente procedió a comunicar de manera defensiva y argumentativa, que me fui del local. No vivo en la localidad y nunca recomendaría este lugar debido al asqueroso estado del inodoro, (ni siquiera papel higiénico) y la falta de profesionalidad del gerente. Totalmente decepcionante, definitivamente no pensé que volvería a donde me alojo en mis vacaciones de fin de año.

Mi pareja y yo hemos visitado The Lane varias veces para llevar o una comida relajada. Esta noche compartimos una hermosa bhuna de cordero y una deliciosa korma de pollo con espinacas, papas y coliflor. La comida era sencilla pero de excelente calidad y muy bien preparado. Los precios son muy razonables. El servicio es rápido y amable. El restaurante tiene un ambiente agradable y es más espacioso de lo que parece desde fuera. Vale la pena visitarlo.

Tuve supone una encantadora cena aquí la semana pasada. La comida era deliciosa, el cordero era el servicio tan tierna y muy amable. ayudó el hecho que fue una agradable velada y poder comer fuera. El gerente vino y habló con nosotros al final para comprobar que todo estaba correcto. Precios muy razonables y no me puedo quejar.

The usual cafe that I visit on Wanstead High Street has been impossible to get into over the Christmas period and actually when I did manage to get in the service was poor at best even verging on rude at times. I have used The BarrelBoulangerie a few times in the past. I find it to be a far more relaxed atmosphere and the staff far more engaged and 'gentle' in their interaction with customers. Good choice of food and drinks, low background music, nice and warm inside and although quite a narrow restaurant you don't feel like you're sitting in a corridor when dining. If this coffee shop were slightly more centrally located on the high street, other coffee shops / restaurants would need to up their game, as I sadly feel complacency has set in elsewhere. Recommend for a nice quiet breakfast, as paying good money elsewhere for, in my opinion, substandard service, was becoming irritating.

The WORST possible service ever and to give it a 1/5 is not worth that. I ordered online for food to be delivered for 18:15 it came an hour late and the staff had the AUDACITY to argue with me. They even delivered an item wrong. Numerous time we had to call them. And all we got was a half hearted apology, and NO refund. They asked for a second chance and that they would give us 50% off our next order. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ORDERING FROM HERE.

We booked the upstairs room for my daughter’s baptism afterparty and everybody had a fabulous time! Paul even came in early in the morning to allow me to set up and helped with moving furniture. All of our guests remarked on the quality of the food and our barman was so kind and attentive. I 100% recommend using their function room for parties, it’s a great space.
