Cheapest Cafe in the area for sure and must be the cheapest in London cup tea 70p (£1.50 in high street) food at least £3 to £10 cheaper than cafes in high street. Huge portion, difficult to finish food. Had Bungalow Workman’s Special was piled high and too much to eat embarrassed to leave it so took home what was left. Staff really nice girls especially the oriental one who is friendly and polite. Best cafe around! Spotless in side as well.

I wouldn't say the food was stunning, but it was absolutely fine, and as my title indicates, very good value for money. I had a fried egg (okay), 2 and a half rashers of bacon (exceptionally good), 2 hash browns (okay), for £4.95. What's not to like about that! Service was smiley and prompt. The actual cafe is a pleasant quiet space, tucked away off the High Street. Recommended.

I usually go to the Soul Stop cafe in South Woodford but thought I'd try this place. Sorry I did. I had the vegetarian breakfast. No eggs for some reason. Four small, soggy hash browns, soaked in oil. Vegi sausage looked nice but tasted mediocre. Small amount of baked beans and mushrooms. Coffee was absolutely awful (which you had to carry yourself from the counter) I can now understand why they ask you to pay upfront. Place looks nice and cosy but don't fall into the trap of judging a book by its cover. I'm going back to my regular cafe.

During the lockdown, we have been able to order some amazing take away food from this restaurant. Delicious food .. which can be frozen.. all homemade. Reasonably priced. Even been able to buy soup which has been a lifesaver for somebody who cannot swallow properly - tasty and full of nutrition. Found the Stavros really helpful and obliging to our different requests. A great chef.

This is the second time we've had a family party in the marquee-covered garden of the Bungalow Cafe. As before, it really was the perfect little venue (for about 40 people). The Lebanese food is very nice, the location and the atmosphere is lovely, the service relaxed and friendly (and tolerant -- thanks in particular to Stavros, who put up with a lot of wittering from me and other family members in the weeks leading up to the party). We brought our own decorations and cake, and were welcomed in 2 hours before opening time to set up. It was a fantastic night, and I really can't recommend this place highly enough for a party. Thank you so much, Bungalow Cafe.

Used to love this cafe. Just sent my boy to get some sandwiches & coffees as today we’re working in the same road & I told him it’s “proper food”. One bite was enough. Absolute filth. So this wasn't the cafe as it is by day (although I've had the breakfast there and it's very good); this was its nighttime incarnation as a Lebanese restaurant. They used to run it every weekend but at the moment it's just for functions. We booked it for 30 people for my 50th, and it really couldn't have been nicer. The restaurant is in the garden of the cafe; they've got a very solid marquee and outdoor heaters, so it doesn't really feel like outside. The atmosphere was informal and lovely, food was fantastic (only fault was that there was too much of it!) and the staff were friendly. Price was very good too - £15 a head for a meze with loads of courses -- and it's bring your own alcohol (no corkage fee). Overall, a brilliant place for a party, and now I'm trying to think of an excuse to go back and have another one there!

The meze was only £15 per head and we couldn't finish it all. The staff were there helping out with our every need ( I had a leg in plaster and I felt so looked after with a comfortable spare chair to rest my leg on ). Some reviews on Tripadvisor astound me. This place is a rarity in Wanstead - a BYO where the maximum you are ever likely to pay is £15 for a Mezze so copious and varied I defy anybody to finish it or to find something in it they did not like. This is not the Ritz and the more modish might go a hundred yards down the road and pay three times as much for exactly the same thing. There is endless fresh salad, barbecued chicken, shish kebab, Mediterranean sausage, as well as falafel, houmous, other dips and chicken livers which (while not to everyone's taste) are authentic and bursting with flavour. This has a good local following but advertising wise tends to hide its light under a bushel. I have no hesitation in spreading the word for an establishment which has no pretensions to any sort of glitz but which nonetheless is uber clean with toilets that would grace any fine dining establishment. I have now been five times, have never been ill(!) and have always been charmed by the always willing service. Give it a go and marvel at its value for money.

There was no atmosphere as it is like eating in any cafe, nothing special. The food was awful. The starter of taramasalata, tzaiki and other hors d' oeuvres was tasteless. The cheese was like rubber. Service with no smile, dirty tables surrounding us with pigeons eating the remains of the food, sticky mismatched tables and chairs, dirty floor and cobwebs on the beams in the outside area. Wouldn't have thought you could get a ham omelette, beans and chips wrong, but I was wrong, food was horrible and bland, omelette was limp and soggy and the ham had no flavour. What a great find The Bungalow is. It does an extensive Lebanese menu in the evenings. Great food, agreeable and efficient service, unfussy and very, very good value. The sharing hot meze at £15 per head is remarkably good value, high quality and huge quantity. You will stuggle to eat for days afterwards such is the spread - flavoursome and mixed food types i.e. not all mince and kebabs. Vegetarians are well catered for. Parking is tricky and it is a bit noisy inside (piped music which dominates a bit). The outdoor seating is in a makeshift tent type construction and could be a bit cold in the winter months. In a residential street in Wanstead E11, there’s a bungalow, The Bungalow Café, Wanstead’s best kept secret! Now a Lebanese restaurant with a plastic curtain walled extension in the garden with more seating for dining. Tucked away, you would have to know about it, or stumble across it. The Lebanese Bungalow Café. B.Y.O. Bring your own drinks, so take your favourite wines, or beers keep the bill to a very acceptable level. My advice is don’t eat for two days before you go there, GO HUNGRY! We, 8 of us, ordered the meze (minimum 2 persons) at £15.00 per head. Up came hommos, tzatziki, tahine, wonderful fresh green olives, aubergine puree, and more stuff I probably forgot about, all freshly made, with ample pitta bread and salads, followed by grilled haloumi cheese served warm on Lounza bacon on warm pitta. Then, as we were informed “their signature dish” of chicken livers, garlicky and slightly hot and peppery flavour, in a dark gravy, the dish was clearly special, as described, along with good portions of falafel, we were again informed, were a speciality by the Cypriot chef and they lived up to the promise. Stavros our waiter/ head of house, made sure we knew not only what we were eating, but where it came from and who was cooking it. If a restaurant takes this sort of pride in what it’s serving, how good is that?Service was casual and friendly and we were asked if we were ready for the next dish and were told No rush!Just as we were settling back with our wine thinking about asking for the bill, up came the main courses! Here we go again! There was barbecued chicken, minced lamb shish and barbecued chicken wings, a constant supply of salads from the start and all accompanied by portions of chips! If you don’t think you can handle all that food, they have a varied A La carte individual dish menu.We were not rushed out, but made to feel welcome and encouraged to dine at our own speed and leisure. The Lebanese way is an “at your service” experience here.If you don’t understand the dishes I have described above, you probably won’t like the place and will be better off with KFC or Mc Donald’s. If you do go to The Lebanese Bungalow Restaurant, GO HUNGRY, otherwise, you’ll never get though the meze!To sum up, it was like eating great food at a friend’s house and plenty of it, but put the address in the sat nav, or you’ll never find it. Jewel in the crown of Wanstead Ohh I nearly forgot, Sundays it all changes and you can have a traditional Sunday roast lunch for a fiver! And don’t forget B. Y. O.
