Excellent food and great selection of beers . Located conveniently near Wanstead Station so perfect meeting point to catch up with friends.

I ended up ordering anything I needed at the bar rather than waiting endlessly at the table. Most customers ended up doing the same. Terrible

I can’t believe i once spent a New Year’s Eve eating upstairs. Such a pointless, soulless place. Get Some fun intro this place.

Busy pub restaurant that has a great selection of beers ….craft and otherwise. Food generally is ok …my fish and chips was good but the risotto was bland and stodgy..and then the waitress didn’t come back and ask if we wanted desserts…and we did ! So we paid and left.

For a place that prides themselves on a roast dinner they couldn’t even handle that. The food arrived cold and inedible. Meat was incredibly chewy and lots of veg missing off multiple plates. Ran out of Yorkshires in early afternoon. Drinks arrived 45 mins after ordering them. Most waiting staff were incredibly helpful and tried to help but general manager rude and bad attitude. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend. Steer clear!

Vast range of craft beer but since Covid only has one draught beer which is disappointing. Lovely pub and nice staff. Great atmosphere.

Yesterday, tried to book a Sunday lunch in Wanstead at the last moment, as the new lockdown announcement had scuppered my future plans. The Bull was my third choice; first and second being fully booked. After a nice walk through the park we were seated outside as requested. The pub was very busy but we didn't have to wait too long to be served and the staff responded well to additional requests. We all had the Sunday roast. The chicken and lamb were excellent and my vegetarian son commented on how surprisingly tasty his lentil roast was. Will happily return for Sunday lunch again once the lockdown is lifted!

Came here for lunch a couple of weeks ago and the food and service were both lovely! We sat in the garden (which is huge) and enjoyed wine, beer and the delicious food. The aubergine pate starter was great, although not so much a pate, more of a concasse. The vegan burger and fish and chips mains were also great and VERY filling. Would definitely recommend if you’re nearby.

We had a lovely stay. The grounds at back of hotel/bar/restaurant.wwre lovely. We saw a pony who seemed happy to show us tricks. The location is near a main road (albeit a country main road, so not mega busy) and our room did overlook some seating area so for privacy you would need to close the window. The bed was massive. Great coffee machine. Only two small waters. Breakfast to order was at a good rate with discount. The food was good. The service from waiting staff was very attentive and on the most part high standard of customer care. Our room didn't get tidied on day 2 of stay but this was due to covid. So when we ran out of room stuffs we asked the staff at bar and this was quickly rectified. We had hearty meals for breakfast and dinner. There were a few mix ups with a.meat pizza given to a pesci friend. Some steak a little well done instead of medium rare but the staff were quick to make better. Breakfast was always served with a smile. Two of the evening managers were very professional and v friendly. On check out we had a little bit of tension between my friend and a staff member. We had been waiting quite a while for Sunday breakfast (it was a busy Sunday) so that didn't help with trying to get out of room for 11. Aside from this small blip, I would rate the stay as almost perfect.

Can’t understand how this place copes during summer! Just had Sunday lunch and it wasn’t that busy, but almost everything we ordered was incorrect and the food was cold. Food was also pretty bland. Such a crying shame as the building is great. Staff lovely. Organisation and communication terrible.

Good food. They obs had kitchen issues today but they came thru. Long wait but drinks delivery and choice excellent. England winning the rugby and we could watch the entire match so a few minutes delay no problem. They gave us a discount on delay and error which was gracefully accepted. Would still recommend

Friendly service and good food. We had our dog with us and the staff made sure had water as well. Enjoyable family atmosphere and price was reasonable.

I came across this place one Sunday after visiting a friend for lunch and the place we normally go to being booked. The ground floor was packed so was offered a table up stairs. I have the Fifty/ Fifty (roast beef and belly of pork) and it was fantastic. My friend has the fish and chips which she said was very tasty. I will be going there again.

A disappointment from start to finish. Poor service, we had to wait at least 45 minutes for our food. People sitting at the next table got their food and had left before ours was served and we came in before them. The toilets looked unhygienic, the skirting was hanging off in places and there was a hole in the cubicle door. Food was quite good apart from the Brioche Bun that just crumbled every time it was touched. Probably stale

Many folk think this is a summer pub but the warmth and friendliness of the staff create a most convivial winter treat

Went there for 50th booked table get there and told had 6 minutes to order food and my booking not going, person who I booked with not there. Emailed them, no reply at all Phoned up spoke to manager and explained everything Week later he called to say he not forgot me then 3 weeks later nothing ! Don’t waste your time as incompetent staff Was well p***** off Waste place

The restaurant made a genuine mistake with our booking - we were waiting over 50 mins despite pre-booking roast dinners the night before. But when we said we were leaving, they apologised very graciously and offered us the food and a bottle of wine on them. Great! But the food...oh my goodness, just awful. I was so hungry by the time it came that I ate it - but at over £15 for a roast I had expected something really special. But as a teacher, I have honestly had better school dinner roasts that cost £3! The meat was overcooked with little flavour, the roast potatoes were barely browned and the gravy was watery and not tasting of much. Honestly, if it wasn't free I wouldn't have paid for it. There are other much cheaper places in Wanstead that offer a basic roast for half the price and twice the quality. Having said that - I haven't tried anything else from the menu. But if they can't get something as simple as a roast dinner right I am not tempted to go back. However, the serving staff were professional and obviously hard-working - so this is no reflection on them. We watched them having to deal with lukewarm reactions to the food whilst we waited.

Have to say fed up with the lighting being turned down so low this early in the evening, it literally goes dark ......I understand that there is a need to reduce costs etc I could even understand if it was for the environment however this isn’t for eco minded reasons this is a money saving exercise pure and simple.The lack of communication between the management of this establishment and the customer is sadly overwhelming despite the issue having been raised several times.Very disappointed!!

Having walked passed several times, we decided to try the Sunday lunch menu.What a treat! Really wonderful attentive service, great choice of roasts, after much deliberation, we went for the pork belly, beautifully cooked, fresh vegetables, really lovely experience all round, if that wasn't enough the music was brilliant too! Really set the atmosphere, this will become a regular trip!

Stopped in for a lunch date with family on a lovely sunny day. Service was ok, food was ok too. Nothing too exciting to add I’m afraid, but nothing to critique particularly either, so it’s fine if you’re passing.

Lovely location, ideal for sitting in the sun and having a good roast. Bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Front of house not as friendly it has to be said. Ideal place to bring your dog as they serve a roast for them too!

I met a friend here on a cold autumn day. Had a lovely plate of veggie sausages and mash which warmed me up, 2 cups of tea and lots of water. We both lost track of time in the Manor Pub because staff and the pub itself are lovely.

Spent this afternoon in the beer garden of this historic building...my first visit...fabulous setting for a cold beer with good friends...the food was tasty..the staff lovely and the sound of the soul/jazz music in the background made for a very lazy and chilled out afternoon...I will definitely visit again...and the coffee’s pretty good too!

We booked a family sunday lunch for 10, it was also a birthday meal and small children were with us. We booked well in advance so numbers were known but on arrival were told there would be a 40 minute wait, this turned out to be an hour. The staff seemed to be uninterested that it was already 3.45 and we hadnt eaten yet.

Beautifully located in Wanstead with a great beer garden that gets really busy. We had a lovely lunch here today and our consensus was all our food was delightful and way above average. Not pricey, staff very attentive, and a very enjoyable afternoon. A simple menu that won’t let you down, well worth a vidit

This was my first time here and these first impressions on entering were good. It was a sunny evening and its location was great. This all changed on entering the bar. It was a comedy night at the pub and I asked a female member of staff behind the bar, what time the comedy started. To which she snapped.....Go outside and have a look at the notice". This seemed an ominous start, and so the miserable evening began!

Called in here for a drink sunday night , very pleasant surroundings will certainly come another day for food.

Meeting with friends for a meal. Took an age to get across to the person behind the bar our order, had re order twice as they ran out of what little choice there was on the menus. When it came, they had forgotten half of it that came 10 minutes later.

What went wrong? This used to be such a good place to grab a burger. Today I ordered a chicken burger and was served an entire half chicken, battered in a bun! Chicken with skin on, and full thighs/wings included. I've never seen anything like it in my life!

Ordered some ribs and chips and the portion size was utterly unbelievable (in a bad way) but hey never judge a book by its cover they might taste amazing....sadly I was wrong, very poor !

My favourite bar in Wanstead. Has a fantastic outside area and you can't beat having a decent pint after work in the sunshine early on a Friday evening. The food can be variable but the sharing bar food is good. Great atmosphere for big televised football games but I am not too keen on the DJ music, but that is probably my age. Could do with a lick of paint inside especially on the way to the toilets.

2 for 1 Burgers onTuesdays. One of the bar men was a bit sarcastic but we guessed that was his personality. We got a massive cheese and bacon burger with salad which I couldn't even finish. Well cooked and succulent.

Even after a number of previous visits, the Manor House Sunday lunch still never fails to impress me.

I was also in there on bank holiday Monday the service was exceptional. The staff were extremely polite and helpful there was no sign of staff being hungover or rude to customers, I will be going there again and would recommend it to anyone. Lovely family pub with amazing atmosphere.

Una de ellas era claramente horrible, y todos se comportaban como si les estuviéramos molestando al hacer el pedido en el bar. No había una sola sonrisa y respuestas realmente rápidas. Ni siquiera estaba tan ocupado para justificar su miseria. Tal vez enseñe a su personal las sonrisas, gracias a los ojos y al contacto visual, los niveles básicos de interacción humana. Vi a un cliente pedir la limonada de un niño y la mirada de disgusto cuando su barman cerró de golpe un vaso de plástico en la barra y vertió la bebida. ¡Completamente innecesario!

I organised a surprise birthday party for 35 here, using their upstairs function room. From booking online to the end of the event everything went extremely smoothly. The staff are all great, and very accommodating. The food was excellent – really tasty canapés and delicious finger food. The choice of real ales downstairs is very good. I can highly recommend the Manor House for functions, as well as just being a nice, friendly pub!

Fabulous lunch. The food was amazing, we are one picky couple when we eat out. When you can cook I think you do become quite critical, but there was absolutely nothing we didn't like. Attentive staff and menu was just right, not too over the top. Good honest British food and atmosphere, who doesn't love a British pub/restaurant on a Sunday at lunch time.

Went to Brunch with friends and had a great time. Staff very helpful about food Wasn't rushed very relaxing. Would recommend Full English loved homemade Baked Beans.

I have visited this pub multiple times in the past couple of years. Generally it's a nice place to spend an evening, but the staff are a bit hit and miss.

Excellent menu, good well cooked and presented lunch or dinners. Offer brunch,which is recommended on Saturday. Sunday roast excellent! Great burger and chips

A la llegada un viernes por la noche alrededor de las 6. 30, preguntamos sobre cómo pedir comida ya que nunca hemos estado en The Manor House antes. El tipo que estaba detrás de la barra nos dijo que "no estaba seguro" de que se le ofreciera comida, por lo que tendría que preguntarle a su gerente. El gerente se acercó y, aunque era lo suficientemente agradable, nos dijo que la cocina estaba cerrada debido a una serie de funciones. Pensamos que era una razón extraña, ¡especialmente cuando se anunciaba la comida en todo el local!

Order coffees which took over an hour to arrive. Food was lovely when it finally arrived but I ordered a veggie breakfast which arrived with bacon on it. I asked them to take it off so they took my plate back to the kitchen but brought back the same plate just minus bacon. When I questioned this the waitress said ‘oh, are you a vegetarian?’. I had to laugh while saying yes as that’s why I ordered the veggie breakfast! They did take it off the bill to apologise and it was manic but that was the chef’s fault - he should have known to do a new plate! Some of the other breakfast were also cold when they arrived. One was replaced but that was also barely warm. Not sure I’d go back but might be tempted to give it one more chance.

Was in the area visiting a friend and she suggested getting a bite to eat in Wanstead, we had a look in the area and settled on the Manor House for dinner.

I visited the Manor House on Sunday for a roast. The quality of the food was exceptional. I've eaten here before but the waitress proudly informed me they now have a new Chef in the kitchen. The beef was lovely and tender and the food seemed to be delivered to us really quickly by a friendly staff member. They also have a fantastic selection of beers and ales which the bartender was quite happy for me to sample before I made my decision.

A wonderful Sunday spent in lovely company.

We arrived at just before 1pm, which upon reading a few reviews kind of explains things a little on the odd exchange I had at the start. I walked to the hostess and asked if I could order a couple of roasts and have them served to a table outside. The hostess seemed apprehensive yet replied that as there was a table cancellation then that would be OK but I had to order at the bar. Thought the preamble was a bit odd but thought nothing else of it, and went and did that. Looking through the recent reviews on here, it seems this place has run out of food enough for bad comments to flood in. It makes sense that the hostess was apprehensive as I could have been taking a plate of food away from a later booking!

Family visit for Sunday lunch. Busy, good atmosphere and friendly staff. Good idea to book as we were lucky to get a table. Good selection for Sunday lunch. Return visit next time in the area.

Myself and 4 friends booked and attended The Manor House on Friday, 2 of the party arrived at 7.10pm and they rest around 7.30pm. We were provided with menus which consisted of 3 starters (soup, prawns and an avocado dish) and approximately 8 main dishes including sea bass, steak, fish & chips, a pie and a ragu pasta. When the waitress came to take our order I enquired what vegetables they had and was informed that they only had kale. Our order was as follows:

Breakfast on 6th October - cold food, undercooked, very poor attitude when I raised my issue. Dirty cutlery - what has happened to this place! Very poor experience and terrible attitude to customers! Table next to us sent their food back twice and the poor women gave up trying to eat anything at all!! AVOID!!!!!

Popped in here for a nightcap after dining elsewhere. My Brandy Alexander was lovely - so much so that I revisited again a couple of days later where the same drink tasted like a glass of milk. Thoroughly disappointed and a waste of money.

I gave a good reasonable rateing as my lamb was lovely and perfectly cooked. The staff were nice but My husband was given my Jus . He hated his meal as it was pork roll not pork belly and my friend gnocchi looked like it was out of a frozen bag and not freshly made. Wouldn’t go back

We were looking forward to Sunday lunch. Having looked at the website no lamb available that day. The place did not seem very clean and we were sat in a deserted part of the pub. Two slices of beef, watery gravy and undercooked yorkshire pudding. I have had better at Beefeater up the road. Dont bother coming here...its a grubby place with overpriced food.

Visited for brunch on a nice sunny Saturday, so sat outside in the garden. I opted for the cheese and ham ciabatta and my partner the veggie breakfast. Given the prices, we should have gone to the Wetherspoons up the road, as sadly the food would have been better for half the price. The cheese in the ciabatta was cheap and processed and the ham rubbery and tasteless, and veggie breakfast was bland and the toast was not sourdough. Not impressed!

Pop in mid-week for a couple of burgers and a pint. Beer selection good but 30 min wait for a rather average burger. Worth returning for the beer garden not for the food.

Booked for 29.07.18 three weeks in advance table for 1pm - when you look on the website beef, pork, lamb and chicken available for Sunday roast - when ordering our meals at 1.30 pm only chicken available - food rubbish, service rubbish, tables dirty- customer service non existent - Better service and food in the Wetherspoon

Booked for Sunday Lunch but when we arrived was told that half the Sunday lunch choice was no longer available! Walked out in disgust.

I booked for 24 people and we ended up being 20. We HAD to preorder by the Wednesday before our Sunday lunch which I thought was so we could all eat together. Not disregarding the good quality meat, the service was dire, the roasts were served drenched in gravy, those who ordered salad were not served first (using the logic that a salad does not suffer heat loss) and despite the fact the staff actually took dessert orders directly from the table they had a great deal of trouble remembering who they took the order from. The food came out in a haphazard fashion, there was a good 15 minutes between the roasts and the other meals being served and the roast potatoes appeared to have never seen the inside of an oven. However my Bloody Mary was to die for

Smashed avocado and poached eggs on toasted chia batta - bread not toasted, avocado just a smear (I scraped it off and it amounted to a spoonful). Charged 8.50. Terrible value.

I’m very lucky The Manor House is on my doorstep. The food is always good and they must use the very best of butchers. Henry, the manager is totally on the ball. We were a little put out by some less than considerate guests but Henry had observed this and endeavoured to remedy the situation. I must stress I have been here frequently and irritating fellow diners are not the norm. The Manor House has extremely good food and we selected an “every day wine” that was a really nice Tempranillo very reasonably priced. Needless to say that higher priced wines have proved to be pretty good too. The restaurant is in a beautiful listed building with a pretty garden area out front. It’s a very pleasant visit, whether it’s just for drinks or for a quality meal

Just had a roast here at the Manor House and it was AMAZING! They even serve doggie roasts which went down really well with my pooches! Will be coming here again and again. The staff are super friendly and helpful and really appreciate great customer service, makes such a difference to be served by such attentive staff, thank you !

Lovely friendly pub with great food & atmosphere. Could be better for vegetarian options but kinda makes up for it with its drink selection (they've got everything from real ale to cocktails) and awesome garden out the front.

The Manor house where I stop off for a little drink after justling along on the tube, no matter what time of day the staff smile and say hello and vibe is just right, and then there is Sundays get there right time find a table in the right position (or reserve one if you being smart) and get your lunch in, yes it gets busy but the food is spot on and plenty of different beers to choose to suit your palate if you need to wash your food down with one. Plenty of seating area at the front which is great on a sunny Sunday!

I spend a wonderful night with my friend in this restaurant. Sirloin Steak and Cheesecake are amazing! Very loverly night! The employees are friendly and considerate! Good food and good service, it's highly recommended:)

Llegamos mucho antes de la hora reservada, pero el personal no podría haber sido más servicial, suministro de cafés y tés mientras esperábamos por la habitación lista y nosotros llegar tan pronto como sea posible. La comida era excelente, (cheesecake fabuloso de fruta de la pasión! ) y a un buen precio. El único inconveniente era la falta de aparcamiento.

What looked like nice pub for finishing Birthday party turned out to be a misogynist place. My girlfriend ordered a drink just to be told it’s “not really a drink for girls”. Well, thank you so much for putting a shadow on this lovely day.

Watch out people as apparently your gender has something to do with what you are allowed to order! My sister ordered a drink and the barman told her it’s not really a girls drink. Outraged is an understatement.

We were worried about coming here reading some bad reviews, but I am glad we did! We were greated on arrival by a lovely fellow (Jorge or Jeff) and he took us to a lovely table with fresh flowers and candles, he explained that they had an offer on burgers and explained that they were really tasty so we decided to go with them. Best burger we ever had- well done chef!! We can't wait to go back to try some cocktails!

I'd booked this as a special treat for Mothers Day and there were 6 of us in total - including mum. Having been here for lunch before in the past and had some lovely meals we thought it'd be a safe bet. Service was good with attentive and friendly staff, but unfortunately the food was very lacklustre. The veggie "lentil" roast, was really sloppy and runny - albeit tasty. The veg offered were just potatoes and parsnips and we could really have done with some "greens" - ie: peas, broccoli or even sprouts. If not least just to add some colour to a very bland plate. We did mention this to our waiter, but not sure anything was taken on board. Shame as it's a lovely venue!

Nice place to go, good food, friendly staff members and cool atmosphere. For a meeting like I went is perfect.

Me and my friends visited Manor house on sunday lunch. We were super excited to have the most recommend Sunday roast! We absolutely loved it! I could say it was missing some extra greens but the rest was great. Out waitress was extremely friendly and helpful even tho was very busy but she did her job great. No disappointments. Many thanks for Manor house team! We will return!

I would like to be able to review the restaurant but due to complete incompetence by this establishment our birthday celebration table for 10 which had been booked over a month ago and confirmed the evening before was not available! When we arrived at 8.30 we were told that they had tried to call five times that day. Really?? They then tried to tell us they had the booking for 11pm!!! Do you really take bookings for 11pm??? At no stage we’re we able to talk to anyone but a young girl with a broom in her hand. Any management in this place? The whole evening was ruined. No offer of a drink while they tried to sort something out. Just left standing around.

Reserved a table as it's impossible to find anywhere to sit in this pub. Then felt pressued to eat.

I was here for a family function. This is a large bar/restaurant with a large outdoor area set at the front of the building. I'm sure that in good weather it can get very busy. Inside it was a bit rustic with bare wooden floors and stairs, with an overall bohemian feel. Food was like a taps affair with variable success over the course of the meal. The little fish and chips was the pick of the food. Some other courses not so good. Altogether a bit hit and miss. Still, nice atmosphere.

11 of us had Sunday lunch here to help mark my wife's birthday and it was just a bit messy. Booked for 3 hours from 1.30 we were told on arrival that the table was only available for 2 and a half hours as they had booked it out to someone else at 4. Bit annoying but we figured that would still work so stayed. A variety of food was ordered, but this is where an absolute basic was ignored. 1 of the group was a Vegan and asked if the veggie roast was suitable for a Vegan and was told it was. It arrived with a Yorkshire pudding that obviously was made with an egg and milk batter; so not Vegan and wholly inappropriate to serve to one. It was queried and the server look at the menu and said it 'was vegan' but with such little confidence it underlined that it wasn't.

The atmosphere is pleasant and the wines excellent. Our food was well cooked but the meal was marred by rather disorganised service.

Can not recommend enough. Staff was outstanding. Especially Henry, what a guy. Let me taste numerous beers. He went out of his way to ensure I got back in to my air bnb after I locked myself out. Food is good, wine selection great, beers phenomenal. Henry made me feel like I was in my regular pub back in NYC.

The new chef has put this place back to top standard we had a perfect steak and wonderful chicken escalope which I highly recommend Staff especially George and Henry always cheerful and helpful

First time in and food were simply gorgeous and tasty, definitely to come back. Success to the chef!!

Too cold to stay! We went for dinner but had to get out as soon as possible. A pity because seems to be a nice place.

Friendly atmosphere to this traditional style pub; great variety of real ales, wines and spirits. Excellent service and although a little expensive the quality is worth the extra few pence.

Having been to the Manor House on several occasions this has rapidly become one of our favourite haunts.

The first time I went there in 2016, the menu was exciting and the food was good. It would have got 4 stars then. I have since been back twice mid 2017 ad late Jan 2018. The menu is changed and on both occasions, the choice was limited in the new menu and the food disappointing.

This is my local haunt and the beer selection is really great to see in Wanstead!

It is a nice pub and friendly staff, and we come here regularly for drinks. Unfortunately the food is not of the greatest quality so we usually go somewhere else for dinner beforehand.

Fuimos aquí esta mañana para el brunch. Camarera y entorno muy agradable, la comida no era muy buena.

Decidimos comer aquí de nuevo después de una comida maravillosa el año pasado. En general, no nos decepcionó. La comida y el servicio eran geniales. Sin embargo, había 18 en nuestro grupo, pero no descuento o incentivo ofrecido, que era un poco sorprendente. El año pasado, por lo menos conseguimos una botella de champán! No fue un viernes o sábado por la noche, así que creo que un gesto por la administración hubiera sido bonito, especialmente porque la nuestra era repetir.

We had our works Christmas party here service really good staff were very good and attentive there were about 18 of us and there was also another larger party due in. The drinks were topped up all the time especially the water.
