Vaya.
We popped in for a drink a bite to eat before going to the Brockley Jack theatre.
The bar staff were really friendly and there was a good choice of beers - wine less so, but we had a nice glass and I guess the pub is called the Beer Dispensary.
The food came in the form of pizzas, through an arrangement they have with a nearby establishment... the pizzas were great and were delivered to our table within 15 minutes.
Bar has a nice, cosy feel to it and we really enjoyed it. The toilets could do with some sprucing up, hence the four star - would be a five star otherwise.
Dear Restaurant Management,
I am writing to express my profound disappointment following my recent visit to your establishment. I chose to return based on a previous positive experience, but this visit proved to be deeply unsatisfactory for several reasons.
When I arrived, I was surprised to see that only three tables were occupied while the rest of the restaurant sat empty. Despite the apparent lack of customers, the service was far below expectations. In fact, I had to request the menu four separate times, as if the staff were entirely preoccupied and unable to attend to us.
Furthermore, when we placed our order, no one inquired about food allergies—an essential aspect of customer care. Our meals were served without proper attention: the cutlery was not provided until we specifically reminded the staff after our food had been served, and we even had to clear our plates ourselves due to the overall lack of attention.
Adding to our frustration, when we requested a beer from a passing waitress, we experienced a delay of nearly ten minutes. We ultimately had to alert the bartender again to receive our drink.
The situation deteriorated further when we discovered hairs in our food. Initially, we suspected it might be an isolated incident; however, when a second hair was found, it became clear that this was not a one-off mistake. The response from our waitress was shockingly unprofessional—she laughed and dismissively insisted that the hairs could not have come from your establishment.
Additionally, we were asked to leave at 9:30 PM, despite the restaurant’s website stating that you are open until 10:00 PM. When we inquired about this discrepancy, the waitstaff explained that they close earlier if there are no customers. This further added to our sense of dissatisfaction and confusion about your service practices.
I must add that it is a pity we did not have to pay any service fee on that occasion, as the food was actually tasty. However, good cuisine alone cannot compensate for the overall poor service and disregard for proper customer care.
I sincerely hope you will take these issues seriously and implement the necessary measures to ensure that such service oversights do not recur. I look forward to learning about the steps you plan to take to restore the high standard of service that I once admired.
Previously a great roast, but the most recent visit was not good. Food was warm at best, some components of the roast was cold.
We asked to move table to one that was less out in the open but was told it was reserved only for it to be available for our entire visit.
I’d also skip the two course set price as it was cheaper to order individually.
Should revert back to individual prices for Sunday roasts.
Pleasant ambience. Enjoyed 'Rustic' decor even though it might be a bit forced. Enjoyed the coffee and the food looked very good, though I didn't try it. Service was very relaxed... Hard to get attention, but preferable to the other extreme and I know it's a tough job sometimes.
Telling people don't order from here laid out over £30 food was bland and dry the egg fried rice didn't taste of anything, and was like it was out of a microwave packet very disappointing overall.
Wonderful food and exceptional service. This is a truly special restaurant where you can feel the care, love, and sense of community in every detail.

We booked a table for 5 of us for dinner.
When we arrived, there was confusion on where our table was. The bar tender asked some people to move, then it turned out not to be our table, and we were given another table.
We sat down but had not been given any menus, so I went to get some only to be told, they weren't able to serve anything other than fish and chips as their ovens had broken. why were we able to book for dinner if they weren't working?
They appeared to be understaffed, there was a birthday celebration happening in the main restaurant, and because of this, it felt like they didn't want anyone else to have food.
Maybe we were an inconvenience wanting to have food too, most people in the bar area where we were sat were just having drinks and watching the sport on the TV.
We really didn't feel welcome, so we left, so as not to ruin a catch-up with friends, we went somewhere else and enjoyed a really nice meal.
The pub was recommended to us by another friend who said it was really good. so why did we not get this experience?
Went there for an event the atmosphere and service were really good. It was a great night, and I'm looking forward to going back in 3 months' time. It's a big people ting.
