Booked their function room for a party. Amazing service and a really great private room.

Great pub with a good atmosphere and a good roast dinner on a Sunday. We had the roast beef and it was delicious. Staff were really friendly and attentive and made you feel welcome. Felt like the place had a real buzz about it over lunch. Will have to go back on an evening to see what it's like.

We visited recently and were impressed by their flat iron steaks, which were delicious and good value too. The new outdoor seating area is fabulous too - it's a great addition.

Good and friendly staff , the beer was cold and a god selection on tap, I recommend the fish and chips and the Karagge chicken

Booked a table for 4 and a baby for Lunch on a Saturday. Food was delicious, I had a steak with great flavour - could have had a few more chips! Our waitress was lovely, friendly and attentive. There is also a lovely function room for hire with a reasonable minimum spend. I found the toilets downstairs to be a bit dingy and not very fresh which is why I haven’t given 5 stars.

The history of this old pub is fascinating and worth reading about. Today, you have the friendliest, most hard working and cohesive staff within a 10-mile radius. The choice of drinks is inexhaustible, the food as good as anything you’ll find in the gastro pub arena anywhere. Sunday roasts are a local legend and you can eat outside on some pretty funky tables and benches (now with some very smart timber canopies.) Dogs are not only welcome but petted with enthusiasm! I mean, what’s not to like?

I an a vegetarian and also have various food intolerances and I was looked after, and fed, very well. The food is delicious. The staff are great and the pub has a lovely atmosphere. My partner said it was the best Sunday roast he'd had for years (and we have visited a lot of London pubs and tried their roasts)

Had a much better experience here recently - arrived for mid-afternoon lunch on Sunday and place was nice and clean and staff friendly and attentive - managed to get a roast at 5pm on Sunday when other pubs in Sydenham had closed their kitchens and didn’t want my business.

Incredible roast (if a lil pricey), massive yorkie which I am in love with, really great service from (I assume) the manager, and dinner with a show watching the roundabout!

We went for a Sunday Roast, which was really good, particularly the roast potatoes and red cabbage! However, throughout the meal, the service was bad. There seemed to be two people actively working for the “restaurant section” of the pub: one was attentive, but also doing other parts of the pub and the other was absent. Though a 12.5% Service Charge was added to the bill (which we paid because the food was good), we could not get anyone’s attention to order more drinks, get the bill, etc. so we ended up having to go to the bar to do these.

It is a very cosy palce and the waiters are so friendly.

They served locals at the bar before they served me. I considered this very rude and when I challenged this I received a belittling reply.

The Greyhound is a gorgeous pub, and we had a fantastic experience hiring the private room for a family dinner before our wedding. The service was exceptional and food delicious as always. Thank you to Jason and all the staff!

My friend had a stroke so loud music is painful to him. When we asked for the music to be turned down he was told it is for young people. Sad that the Greyhound is ageist and contemptuous of illness. We old ones have the money and would have spent a lot on dinner had we had a nicer reception. Horrible place, unpleasant, untrained staff. Avoid.

I recently planned my grandad’s surprise 80th birthday party in the private function room, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, Jason, the manager, was incredibly organised, communicated effectively, and provided fantastic service throughout the entire event. No request was too big or too small for him, and his attention to detail ensured everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious and our guests left expressing how much they enjoyed themselves. I highly recommend this venue for any special occasion!

Excellent choice of foods humongous portions value for money. Pleasant service with a smile in some instances bar staff lively and happy to deliver requested choice of beverage were possible. Accommodating to all patrons and niche groups. Great ambience and atmosphere I would recommend this place as somewhere comfortable to chill for a casual evening out.

Nice, modern style, but with character. Very airy on a warm summer day with lots of outdoor seating. A popular stop for lunch. The ham hock terrine with pickles was perfect as a small nibble for two. Everything else being served around us looked good and empty plates would indicate that it tasted good too. Nice selection of beers. Check out the rear wall outside (facing the Sainsbury's) - it's a beautiful mural of a greyhound made from ceramic tiles each of which is decorated with old and contemporary photos. Well worth a closer look. The main toilets are in the basement, but there's an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities on the ground floor - nice and clean, but with a slight whiff of victorian drains - all adds to the character! Located on a fairly busy junction, there's plenty to watch. This is the sort of place that I'd like as a local.

Tastiest pub meal ever with excellent service.

We have eaten there before and had good food so thought we would try the Sunday Roast. Unfortunately, both pork belly and beef were on the dry side and were child’s portion. They seemed to have run out of vegetables as there was even less vegetables than meet. Yorkshire pudding good. Service always good. Maybe it was at the end of service but I’m sure they can do better

Worse meal ever pork schnitzel.a big lump of pork deep fried and a burnt piece of brockley..never again couldn't eat it ..staff weren't bothered when I mentioned it

I recently held an event at the greyhound and nothing was to much trouble for Jason and his staff. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The private function room upstairs is beautiful although we ended spending most of our time outside because it was such a glorious sunny day. I would highly recommend. Thank you to all at the greyhound.☺️

We had an after funeral get together for about 35 people at the Greyhound, we were looked after very well. The food and service was excellent. Thank you Jason and your team.

Flat iron steak was perfect 👌🏾 My daughters pasta was exactly how she wanted it! Love this place, always a great experience! Will be back soon!

A really light and well decorated pub, with a decent beer garden, sadly close to a week travelled road.

I recently held a little birthday celebration in the private room upstairs at The Greyhound and couldn't have had a better experience! The team are so helpful, and the room itself is really beautiful - not your average pub room by any means! We could play our own music and put up a few decorations, however the space already has pretty twinkly lights and dried flowers which make it feel so special. All of my guests commented on how nice the space was. I will definitely be looking for an excuse to celebrate here again. Thanks for having us Greyhound team.

The members of staff mis treated me by being spiteful - they over charged me and served me a horrible tasting drink and found it amusing. I tried make a complaint to the manager but he took their side and banned me.

Great pub/restaurant. Good food and selection of beer and wine. Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Child friendly to boot. And handy for a quick pint before the train for a night out. Roast in there today on mother's day was delicious. The place was heaving but they still managed to keep the show on the road.

We came at 6:45pm and the meal came at 20:40. and cold. Lucky Rafael was very nice and offer more drink. Fish & chip cold my Caesar salade with chicken 3 pieces with 1 bone. I wont recommender to eat.

Very helpful & friendly staff. Quite a good choice of beers on tap. Food tasted great & quite quick service. It's best to go in the afternoon not the evening because it is very busy then.

Excellent service, beautiful pub. Food was great. I only didn't give a 5 because I save that for absolutely blown away style food. The food was however tasty and no complaints. The service was amazing. For a busy pub probably the best we have ever had. I wish I got our Servers name. He was so good with the children. Wonderful adternoon

A lovely place only met down by the inconsistency of the food, some nice some grim.

This was a good dog friendly pub with some quite interesting food options catering to a range of tastes, with at least 3 vegetarian options on menu. Possibly a little overcrowded with tables quite closely packed. It was a noisy Friday night but on the whole anniversary enjoyable evening out. The busy and packed pub attests to its popularity. This did make it difficult to get attention from waiting staff at times, but the staff were friendly and helpful.

If you are vegetarian then this is the place you eat the pumpkin ravioli I totally recommend.

i sat in the table service area of this pub for 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged my existence. Do the staff hate me? how can they charge £19 for a main and not even greet their customers? edit to reply to the owner: lol your steak is £18.95 ... i think you should worry about serving your customers not correcting my knowledge of your prices

Was very disappointed that you charge 1.50 for a shot of prosecco in your martini....its part of the cocktail ...shouldn't be charged extra ..it would make it 11£...what a disgrace...won't be back .

Such a lovely pub and very child friendly. The staff are super attentive and it has a great atmosphere. The battered cod is possibly the best I’ve ever eaten. We moved house recently and location to The Greyhound actually played a part in our decision.

Perfectly pleasant and the food was good quality and tasty, and reasonably priced. The staff could have been more attentive and better prepared for our booking, but considering how busy the place was, did a decent job.

Had lunch with a friend here today the week before Christmas. It was super busy and the reason I am writing the review is to congratulate the staff. They were polite, friendly, efficient despite having to weave between tables to serve food and drink. Despite me being sceptical that the food 'wouldn't be up to much', my fish and chips were absolutely fine and my friend's sea bass likewise. Congratulations to the whole team.

I ordered fish, and it arrived raw. When I reported it, the chef insisted it wasn't their fault, claiming that type of fish is naturally red inside. However, the fish was jelly-like and clearly uncooked. Despite their error, they only offered to pay for a pint, and when the bill came, the fish price was still there. We paid to avoid making a fuss, but the handling of the situation was very poor.

No great experience. After I finished my food, I found 2 strand of hair on my plate. I told the staff and I was offered a discount, however only the service charge was removed from the bill, which is optional anyway.

Simply the best roast in South London! I used to live in Sydenham 4 years ago and Sunday Roast at the Greyhound was one of the things I missed the most when I left London. So when today I had the opportunity to visit the area again, I jumped at the chance to go back. And it was such a delight to find that this pub still remains an absolute gem. The food was just as fantastic as I remembered. Everything from the meat to the veggies is just delicious, and the toffee pudding was also great. They were also very welcoming to Díva, our greyhound. Couldn't recommend this place more, I just love it!

The food as always was amazing. Beautiful in presentation and delicious on the tongue. Waiting time for food on a Sunday wasn't too bad and the atmosphere was pleasant. I always enjoy coming here and I've never been disappointed. Thank you Greyhound.

I'm so disappointed I moved here from Crystal Palace and ordered the nut roast, it was so small. We got two roast potatoes and a slither of nut roast. I was so hungry after, and since I spent £14.50 I expected to be full. The service was friendly, but inattentive, we asked for salt and pepper that never came. And had to keep going to bar to let them know we were waiting. We asked to remove service charge, since we didn't get table service. Good for drinks would definitely skip for food from now on.

It was my first time at The Greyhound Sydenham for lunch with a friend. The service was very pleasant, I enjoyed the food. I would definitely go there again.

The best shepherds pie I've ever eaten and served with grilled cabbage which made a nice change and reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and welcoming even though they were very busy with a quiz night. Definitely going back to try more of the menu. Thanks greyhound team 😊

£10 for half a glass of negroni without garnish and Hugo cocktail without cucumber garnish !? Guys change menu or advise customers before they order :) Really disappointed in skills of bartender… maybe good place for pint but do not come if you are looking for nice cocktails !!!

Absolutely pi## poor service, sat at a table and then just waited, wouldn't have been so bad,if the restaurant was busy but there were only two other families in the dining area.Stop coming here a year ago due to bad service and nothing has changed, very disappointing. Went elsewhere in the end, staff didn't seem when we gave our table away.

Great atmosphere and service, clean place. The food was good but in my opinion a more personalized menu should be made respecting tradition. Overall it was a good evening.

The upstairs function room was a great venue for our 30 strong family group as we celebrated a big birthday. Children and adults alike enjoyed excellent dishes and drinks served with a friendly calm professionalism by Jessica. Nothing was too much trouble for her. And all on a very busy Sunday service. Impressive.

Used to be great before change of owners. Went few months ago and it smelled awful inside Went today to sit outside disappointed to know it is all smoking outside (asked staff) Staff are indifferent and don’t smile or greet Music matched the loud cars you hear in a traffic queue not conducive to relaxed time outside We had hoped to have lunch but left after a drink because of this Shame it’s gone so downhill nowhere near as busy as it used to be

We booked one of the private rooms upstairs for a family celebration. Cobi looked after us so well, can’t thank him enough! We are a challenging group to cater for with gluten free/ lactose free and vegan diets to contend with but the team at The Greyhound did a wonderful job as always! We love the atmosphere, the food, drinks selection and most importantly the team - everyone is so lovely and we can’t wait for our next visit! Thank you guys :-)

Hot chips probably too small, real ales on tap plus all the usuals who like draught beers, service nice, friendly staff. The sculptor who sculpted the greyhound statues out the front went to the trouble of sculpting the statues' cocks which is good attention to detail.

The food took ages to come which is not usual for a roast, portions were small and service was slow on drinks etc. It is a shame as a few years ago it was a great pub. The toilets also smelt awful!

Lovely spot with lots of space indoors and outdoors! Came here for a Sunday roast and making the most of the terrace. We were well looked after by the team, which was attentive,quick and smiley! Mixed Roast was actually really good and tasty.. it came with a good amount of veggies, sauces and cauliflower cheese bake. We added bread, fries and shared the whole lot. Happy with the quality of it and the price as well: Will surely come back if I am around Sydenham again!

Food was good, bit on the expensive side for Sydenham. Decor is nice and atmosphere is good. What let our visit down was the service - the staff were friendly but they could have done with one or two more to help out. Confusion wether to order food at the bar or the table we reserved - wasn't made clear. Food took a while to come and starter arrived with the main after I enquired about it.

I live locally to the greyhound and this pub is such a staple in Sydenham. Perfect for lunch/dinner with family and friends, Sunday roasts or a few pints! The staff are super friendly and the pub itself has a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. Thanks guys!

Usually ok but tonight the server got such a hump when I told them the guy next to me was first that I was made to wait while all the glasses were put away before getting served. (He got very good service)

Unfortunately The Greyhound is let down by their Sunday Roasts, they served the vegan sunday roast with non vegan ingredients and the gravy was watery and veg was poor, this was across the chicken vegan and Easter Sunday Lamb which was fatty and a lamp chop. The menu is pretty poor for Vegan and veggie options sadly. The drinks and most of the staff are great which is why I will be returning and It's a cute place but will avoid eating there as the food really isn't up to scratch and over priced.

Nice pub food was lovely. Great space to watch footie, etc. Very family oriented.

The servers went out of their way to accommodate our large party. The food was delicious, the fish was crispy and light, the pork belly was unbeatable. Everything was better than expected. I fully recommend it, it was delightful.
