The Crown Tavern in Lewisham

We booked a table for 5 of us for dinner. When we arrived, there was confusion on where our table was. The bar tender asked some people to move, then it turned out not to be our table, and we were given another table. We sat down but had not been given any menus, so I went to get some only to be told, they weren't able to serve anything other than fish and chips as their ovens had broken. why were we able to book for dinner if they weren't working? They appeared to be understaffed, there was a birthday celebration happening in the main restaurant, and because of this, it felt like they didn't want anyone else to have food. Maybe we were an inconvenience wanting to have food too, most people in the bar area where we were sat were just having drinks and watching the sport on the TV. We really didn't feel welcome, so we left, so as not to ruin a catch-up with friends, we went somewhere else and enjoyed a really nice meal. The pub was recommended to us by another friend who said it was really good. so why did we not get this experience?

Visited on Saturday, the food was fantastic, we particularly enjoyed the sausage and mash and chicken strips The pub was really nice with a good atmosphere and very clean Booking process was very easy We look forward to visiting again with friends soon

We had a after funeral function here it was a tough day but I need not worry they had everything sorted. The mangers were very good the staff very helpful the food was excellent The staff helped make a sad day perfect Thank you so much for today 13th Feb

Great pub with great food, drinks, staff and atmosphere Add in a carpark and not far from trains and busses , always my go to for a meet up with mates or a family outing

Food was fantastic. I ordered cottage pie, best I’ve ever had. Also ordered a side of roast potatoes which were beautiful. My friends had roasts which also looked great. Portion sizes very generous. Atmosphere and service were really good. Will be returning soon.

Helpful and friendly staff who were responsive to requests on the day for a 18th birthday party. Lovely well equipped venue. Food ordered was good quality, portions could have been more generous. Some areas for more attention to detail were ensuring dishes all have serving spoons. Would recommend.

The Crown Tavern is a large pub located in Lee, with a separate restaurant and function rooms . The pub is scrupulously clean, with a cozy welcoming atmosphere, despite it's size and staff who are welcoming, polite, helpful and attentive, without being intrusive. To describe it as a gastropub is stretching things a bit, but what it offers is quality pub grub, at a sensible price. I had their house burger, which was very tasty and cooked to perfection, with crispy, well seasoned fries, followed by a chocolate brownie, with ice cream. The volume of the music in the bar was a bit over-powering when I went it in, but the bartender soon turned it down for me , without making a fuss. Eating at the Crown Tavern was a good experience for me, so I would certainly go there again and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Sunday Roast was great as always and the service is always on point.

What a fabulous place! The atmosphere was so lovely and the staff were amazing but the Sunday lunch was just fantastic! The portion size was so generous too! We will defo be going back there on a regular basis for sure!!

I finally visited Crown Tavern its a cozy spot I’ve been meaning to check out for a while, and I’m so glad I did! Tucked from the busier surroundings areas, it’s a bit of a hidden gem. I went for their Sunday roast, and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic—everything cooked to perfection, from the tender meat to the crispy roast potatoes and rich gravy. The portions were generous, and you could tell the ingredients were of high quality, which made it all the more enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with plenty of space to sit comfortably, whether in the pub or their restaurant area. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If I had to find a downside, it would be the price—it’s a little on the expensive side for a pub meal. That said, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. All in all, Crown is a spot I’ll definitely be visiting again. If you’re looking for a great Sunday roast in a welcoming setting, this is the place to go!

Crow Tavern is the best restaurant in the area, welcoming and with such a lovely service. Staff is very nice, kind and accommodating. The atmosphere is relaxing and cozy with comfortable seats and nice low light which promotes an amazing and intimate space. The food is outstanding and the prices are attractive. Absolutely loved this place. A random Sunday me the wife and our kids were looking for a local venue that provides a Sunday roast. Beautiful atmosphere, great kids menu and amazing venue. We will definitely be back... Shout out to the staff especially Sean who kept us smiling and happy during our visit.

Was a busy evening with carols and lots of pre-Christmas revellers. Sofia was attentive and personable and did a great job at serving us.

We booked this pub for our big Christmas gathering for family and friends, and it couldn’t have been better! The space was perfect, the food was fantastic, and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble, and everyone had a great night. A huge thank you to Andy, Dan, Sofia, Tom, and the entire team for making it such a memorable evening. Highly recommend!

Love this place! We had an extended family reunion with 40 guests and not only was the catering top notch, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great for parties, dinner with family or just a pint with friends. This is my favourite local

I’m really indifferent writing this review because this is our local pub across the road from us & we absolutely love going there for food & footie. Usually it’s super great that’s why we decided to host our little girl’s birthday party there! We mainly needed the space. Their menu didn’t cater for kids and they were super flexible with that which was great. There were some set up issues (tables, chairs, linen) in the morning that I had to sort out myself despite be in a leg boot! But again the staff were accommodating & friendly but not so helpful! But my biggest disappointment of the evening had to be the below photo of £180 worth of food for 10people. I may be wrong and please correct me if I’m but that would mean a plate of a couple of square triangles, 1 chicken goujon, 1 fish bite, 1 thin slice of sausage roll (if that) and a bit of chips for £18pp. I did speak to the manager and he did send some more chips and sandwiches up but that wasn’t what was agreed nor paid for! Infact we agreed double portion of sausage rolls upon booking instead of the brownie bites! All in all it was soooo embarrassing to even have to speak to him about something like that! Soooo very disappointed and feel really let down and ripped off! Edit: I’ve attached an email confirmation of the booking which was also agreed face to face. Can you please tell me exactly what more expensive substitutes there was? As it was never highlighted at any point nor does it justify this awful display of food on the day! The food you brought up later was 1x small plate of egg mayo sandwiches and 1 x bowl of chips! Still not worth the £180 for 10people. It’d be nice to just apologies and take responsibility for this and the lack of setup and cleanliness on the day. Please don’t tell customers the room is available from 11 when it isn’t and you don’t have the staff to help! We were very low maintenance on the day & didn’t require heating, staff so as an establishment you’ve made quite a bit of savings on our booking already! TBH an apology or even a gesture of goodwill would have just resolved this! But this is what we get for being good people & not even disputing paying the outstanding balance on the night! Terrible service & management! Down to 1 star!

Gorgeous place, large premises, lots of nooks and crannies, curtained booths, great furnishings, great outside area, easy parking. Excellent facilities. Staff were very welcoming on arrival and attentive throughout. Good menu. We found the spice (sparacha I think) used in the crayfish and crab starter was way to hot to enjoy. We told the waitress we couldn't eat it and she was very understanding, apologetic and accommodating. We ordered a different starter which we not charged for. The food is delicious. It was our first visit and we loved it. Will definitely go again.

A lovely place for a relaxed Sunday lunch. The food was good and the portions generous. Have only marked it 4 stars because the pudding I wanted was not available.

I love this pub. I live closeby and you can really tell there’s been a change of management in recent months. The whole atmosphere has changed around and it seems so much more welcoming and warm. They even have put up a christmas tree which i think is nice. Landlord is a very friendly guy who doesn’t mind to stop and talk about the establishment. Will be coming more often

We had our wake here. Definitely recommend!! The platters were lovely. The pub is cosy with cushions with lovely decor . 5 stars to the crown xx

Great Sunday roast, service was ok but one drink was forgotten and came in a glass with old lipstick on it plus had to repeatedly request bill from different members of staff.

We should have been worried going for lunch with two grandkids and our dog but not so we have been to the Crown before and as ever we had a lovely relaxed lunch the kids behaved even the dog behaved what more can I say

Came on Sunday for a roast and it was class, my friend had the vegetarian roast with a yorkie and she loved it! I had the roast beef and it was cooked to perfection, wasn’t tough at all! The servers were really helpful! Even offered my friend a yorkie when she said she was veggie and not vegan! Food came out in a timely manner and it seemed busy so the chefs must have been smashing it. Was a really great experience overall and will 100% be back

We accidentally stumbled across this pub as we were in the area and Google places to eat and this place is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere is great and the food was delicious. The staff were super helpful and gave us recommendations and we are planning on having our Christmas party there .

Service and food was excellent. Overall the atmosphere was good. It would depend what you were looking for - we were having a meeting and the pub was very busy and quite loud. To be fair it was Saturday evening and pubs would usually be quite busy. I would definitely recommend this place and would go again.

The Crown pub is local to me and can always be relied upon to provide great service, a diverse and regularly updated menu and friendly staff. I absolutely love the contemporary decor and the cosy vibes. Great destination for home workers who fancy a change of scenery from time to time

New management have really turned this place around...precious visits were so poor but decided to give it another go...glad I did.

The chef in this place is incredible. I had the beef shank pie which was absolutely delicious, one of the best I have ever had. Hand Made in the establishment, not defrosted like in other pubs and I am a fussy person. The mashed potato was silky and delicious. Thank you for a great dinner. Highly recommended!

Visited for a Sunday Roast and I had the pork belly roast. The potatoes were cooked to perfection and I was very impressed with the variety of vegetables that came on the plate. The service was great as well as all the staff being friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed a Hugo Spritz which was really nice and refreshing. Served by Tom, Dan and Sian who all were excellent and very attentive! Definitely recommending to my friends in the area

Came for a Sunday roast and it was very busy! Service from the staff was excellent and efficient, I had the roast pork and it was excellent, my friend had a chicken Kiev and complimented that it was one of the best they’d had, Would definitely recommend to people!

We ate well and had a good time. We even went back a second time. Wide choice of beer and cider, quality food and properly cooked. Decent service but order at the counter. Allow around £30 for drink + main course + dessert per person.

Went for the sunday roast which was amazing, beef and potatoes cooked perfectly. My friend had the pork which also looked great. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant was beautiful. Will be returning next Sunday!

We held a private party here and staff member Isaac was fantastic all night. He was happy to help with anything that came up and was friendly throughout. It was really appreciated on our special occasion. The room was lovely too.

Came for Sunday lunch and the food was amazing! Roasts were perfect, and the triple roast was a lovely addiction to the menu. And catered well as we had a celiac dining with us Bar team was speedy and efficient and knew what they were doing. The restaurant was gorgeous with all the glass! Will definitely return

The crown was incredible. Food was amazing. I used to visit it a lot with my family a few months ago, it was alright. However, in this past month his pub has improved massively. It’s now a great place to visit.

Wow i have to say this pub has come on leaps and bounds in the last month or so, great service and great product, it’s now my go-to for some pub-grub and cheeky pint. Would highly recommend

Attended a wake in the upstairs private room yesterday and was impressed with every aspect of the service provided. The bar staff were excellent, the buffet food was delicious and being able to sit out on the balcony on such a sunny day was perfect. We stayed on afterwards and enjoyed a meal from the main pub menu which was also very good.

Went for a joint birthday meal on 28th July for my daughters and granddaughters birthdays. We had to send in all our choices before hand as it was a large booking, which we provided well in advance. On the day 3 kids meals missing, none of or side orders had been orfeted or cooked, my food was cold when it arrived. The swede mash was over salted and so full of garlic none of us could eat it. Most of the desserts were not available. So we decided to just leave desserts. Table next to us sent 3-4 meals back to the kitchen. Will not be going back there again for the price we paid was awful. Very disappointed ruined what should have been a burthday celebration good job we had birthday cake.

It's a Young's pub and I've always found them to make decent food.

A place to sink into...just a skip and a hop away from the rat race. Freshly renovated and landscaped, you feel as though you've been transported to a country pub somewhere in the sticks, when in fact you are very close to the south circular. A seemingly secluded little haunt with a lot to offer.

Visited last Sunday for a roast which was amazing, beef was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were nice and soft but crisp Service was perfect and staff were welcoming and attentive Atmosphere was perfect and very clean and well presented Will definitely recommend and visit again soon

Watched 3 of the England Euros games and couldn’t have been happier. The guy organising the table bookings was really efficient and totally lovely too. Food only gets a 4 it was hot and fresh, but the service was a bit off however that said it was busy and we did get our food on each occasion so it wasn’t awful. Great atmosphere, great local pub and I’d recommend.

Used to be my local 40 years ago when it was a Youngs pub so changed a bit good, atmosphere and service all very good 👍

The Crown is a welcoming and comfortable pub..the food is amazing and back to the high standards we know and love..our server Maddie was so attentive throughout our time and made our family evening meal perfect. I would also like to thank Amie Thacker for her excellent customer service and communication skills. We will be back again in the very near future we would highly recommended the Crown.

Upon visiting the venue in person, Sophie was very accommodating and helped us plan every aspect of the event. We were delighted to have exclusive use of the stylish Parlour room and its adjacent courtyard garden, both of which were beautifully presented. The canapés and sandwiches were high quality and we were grateful for the opportunity to display photos and memories of our Aunt on a designated table. We highly recommend The Crown Tavern as an excellent choice for any event.

food served luke warm or cold excellent customer service

Food was very disappointing, although it had a nice taste it was cold when it came. The kids sausages were overcooked so I had to take all the skin off for my daughter to be able to eat. We had to ask someone to clear our plates as they were left for ages after we finished. One of the gentlemen behind the bar was extremely rude and unprofessional when we were ordering dessert which made us leave after we finished and has definitely put us off coming again.
