I attended Christening party today what a hidden gem. Ive lived in South London forever. Didnt know about Crown Tavern will definitely be back.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This place is a joke! Ordered a plant burger got a meat burger - obviously didn't want it but got told do we want to take it home as they're gonna charge is anyway! Fish had nothing on it but bones. Side serving horrid. Attitude of waitress just wrong.

Have to be honest and say we didn't eat here on this visit, but our friends did and they were very disappointed. As we're the couple sitting alongside us who sent their original choices back. Food used to be very good here, but it seems standard's have slipped. Was very quiet for a Friday night. Maybe word is already out that it's not as good as it used to be.

Beautiful elegant pub with extensive menu and good range of Youngs beer

We hired the parlour for a 50th birthday party on Saturday night. It was such a beautiful space and worked really well with a good dance floor area and plenty of seating. The service was very good, we pre ordered canapes which were excellent & drink. Sophie was so helpful with the prep of the party and nothing was too much trouble for her and her team. Sophie made sure everything ran smoothly on the night & was super efficient. I would highly recommend having an event here.

Recommend by the funeral director. Location excellent, lots of parking, friendly welcome. Good thick brown bread sandwiches ready for hungry guests, delicious freshly cooked warm canapes came about 10 minutes later. Staff seemed a bit stretched with 2 wakes happening simultaneously but this enabled me to take boards of food round to small tables of 4-6 guests so that I could talk to everyone who attended. Pleasantly surprised, Youngs Pubs are generally pretty good but we came here as our usual two wher booked up and we had a really good time for a Mothers Day lunch Food was great It was warm & comfortable & the staff were very good

Unfortunately almost nothing on out roast dinner was cooked well. Potatoes were hardly cooked, leeks almost raw, red cabbage had whole star anise still in, gravy watery, belly pork needed much more slow cooking. To be fair to the staff we did not complain as we were with our children for a mother's day meal and didn't want to spoil the atmosphere around the table. Kids menu was good and they enjoyed their meals.

We were disappointed with our food. It lacked flavour and it did not appear to be freshly prepared. The service from Isaac and Tyresse was excellent.

We had a lovely Mother’s Day lunch at the Crown Tavern. Food was delicious, surroundings lovely. We were a table of ten and were served quickly and efficiently but never felt rushed. Great children’s menu and those in our party with allergies were well looked after. The free glass of prosecco for the mums in our party on arrival was a lovely treat too. Thank you!

Really disappointing. We went last night as a group of 10 girlfriends. We were all opting for the pie & mash option, as they had there own section on the menu + on the wall like a specials board. Only to be told at 6.30pm on a Saturday night they had run out of pies. So we chose other things on the menu, 9 meals came out & then the staff member apologised to the 10th person as he had "pressed the wrong button" & so she had to wait another 20 minutes for her meal to finally arrive. My butterfly chicken burger was way over done. Service was painfully slow for drinks at the bar. Pretty sure our waiter was high aswell (!) Won't be coming here again anytime soon.

Lunch menu was really nice and the staff are always so friendly. really nice place to go and relax. Isaac was very friendly.

Everything is really good - the mains, the roasts, the fish and chips, the service, there's board games, lovely in the winter or summer - everything except the dessert I had. Giving 4 stars only because the sticky toffee pudding is really bad. The flavour is fine but they give you a dry block of cake with toffee sauce, you have to drown it in the sauce and ice cream to make the texture ok.

Excellent food, had the Sunday roast, delicious and generous portions, lovely environment and atmosphere, however felt a bit dingy with the lighting, father in law found it difficult reading menu etc. would visit again though.

Would certainly recommend the Crown Tavern. I went yesterday for some food and a few drinks. The pub was well presented, clean and the service was great. I had the Camembert and the haddock. Also I would like to call out Tyreece who was very helpful and attentive.

Lovely pub 1st visit .family birthday booked table for 6 .no table set aside. No one explained how we ordered we didn't know you need to go to the bar to order .food was nice but it was a let down with the floor person..

Came into this pub as my first visit a few months ago was really pleasant however I will not be coming back after today's experience. I came in with my infant in the pushchair and was looking for my friend who had arrived before me, as I was looking to see where they may have been sitting their assistant manager Andrew asked me to move out of the way (specifically used these words) bearing in mind I was not obstructing no-ones path and it was extremely quite within the pub. He then brought our food over and had a very weird attitude. The pub itself is very spacious and beautiful however certain staff members do not have basic customer service skills.

Spacious and well-appointed pub with a huge dining room and attractive main bar. Good for a Sunday roast, watching the sport or just popping in for a swift half. Large beer garden out front is excellent in the summer and will be my home from home during the Euros.

We held a wake here on Monday and had an area cordoned off near the bar which was ideal for 30 people. The food was outstanding! The buffet was tasty - lovely scotch eggs and the macaroni cheese cakes were very popular. The sandwiches were made to perfection and the service also attentive. Bar staff pleasant. Value for money? You get what you pay for so I consider it was well worth it. I thoroughly recommend holding a buffet for any occasion here. Well done!

Whether you're sitting in to watch a game and have a good drink, or enjoy a nice Sunday roast; I'm glad I have this pub down the road. Whilst the food could be cheaper, it hits the mark 99% of the time and the staff couldn't be nicer. Gold stars all round.

I wouldn’t usually leave such an a low starred review but I was so disappointed after my most recent visit. Having grown up 2 roads away from this pub, I have spent much time here over the years, and I can safely say I won’t be visiting again anytime soon. Firstly, I would like to say the 2 stars I have given were simply for the food, which was lovely. However, the service was absolutely APPALLING, 3 young men were serving us most of the evening, with 2 of them having the worst attitude and the general demeanour that they really didn’t want to be there… which in that case, go and get another job. One of them (who had the worst attitude of all) accidentally almost over charged me and when I corrected him, he then preceded to swear quite loudly, regarding his upset with himself. I can forgive this, as we all make mistakes, but to then have to wait 10 minutes for a glass of wine to then realise after seeing him stand around, he’d obviously just forgot it, I was soon quick to withdraw my allowance. Furthermore, it seemed (although visiting early on a Friday evening), someone had forgot to do a stock order as there were several items missing off the menus & they had no straws at all, which I find odd for a busy pub. Anyway, I would not recommend visiting here as you’ll leave with your pockets feeling VERY light & generally unsatisfied.

The people behind the bar seemed to be actively trying to avoid my eye so they wouldn't have to serve me. The food was good though and it's just a lovely pub.

We were attending a funeral in a private space upstairs. The team on shift were very helpful, respectful and kind.

This has quickly become a local favourite pub to visit for Sunday roast in South East London. The ambience is great, comfy chairs, good selection of wines and the food is yummy!!! I tried their Vegetarian Wellington and I'm definitely going back for more. The sticky toffee pudding is super - just didn't have space for it after the roast! And don't forget to try their fries!

Giving this a 3 star review as the food we eventually got was nice and has a lovely environment. I taken off 2 stars just due missing at least 6 items off the menu and weren’t told about this until we attempted to order. Our plates were sitting empty in front of us for over half an hour, we then had to go find someone to take them away whilst they were round the corner talking and continued to do so after we asked for service (atleast 5 minutes after)

We had a family gathering of 25 people. The Crown Tavern organised it all for us. Food was great, the staff were brilliant and really friendly. The general atmosphere was lovely. We would definitely return here.

It's one place that you just have to try 100% satisfaction from the service and friendly staff (sofia) is just one of many,great management that avails themselves to not only listen but register what you say and of course the food 😋😋😋 and free parking whilst you eat/drink

Warm welcome and delightful booth for 4. There was a glitch when ordering part of the meal which was technical but eventually got sorted. Staff generally attentive especially lady serving and checking that all was well. I would like to see more vegan/ vegetarian options on the main menu. Size of portion ( French fries ) was disappointing. Perhaps some salad / dressing would have helped.

The waitress called Sofia was very helpful and served us with a big smile and very welcoming personality!

I went with friends and family to the Crown on boxing day for my birthday. We had a great time. Robbie who served us really looked after us, the food was good and so was the atmosphere. Thanks everyone for a great evening.

We went for a friends birthday on Boxing Day. There were 6 Adults, 1 little person who was 3 and a dog. We were made very welcome and our Server Robbie was brilliant. He made sure we were all happy and really took the time to talk to us and made our friend feel very special. The food was really tasty too. Thank you Robbie

Arrived for our Christmas dinner at 6pm. Food was vile. Thrown on a plate ,looked more like school dinners. The beetroot tart was so swamped with balsamic vinegar it had the same rea action on my guts as de scaling a kettle. The sylibub was room temperature, was sickly , with a strong taste of soap. The texture of it reminded me of angel delight mixed with not enough milk. After that combination I played 3 visits to the loo. Just managed to get home and needed the loo again. My stomach is still not happy. Other people on our table had beef like shoe leather ,cold chewy turkey cold vegetables, soggy parsnips with bland thin tasteless gravy. Either train your staff how to cook properly or change the menu.

Having booked in advance and paid an £80 deposit it was a joke. To start a few things that were ordered we were told “oh sorry we just sold the last one” not a good start so then something else was chosen it was the same again “oh sorry we sold the last one” the waitress was fantastic bless her. Then came the bill we had paid £80.00 deposit they gave us the bill but had not removed the £80.00 they called the manager I had to open my banking app to prove they had taken the money another call to the manager. We then had to work it all out. As we were paying as a two and a 6 and a child.one of the starters the pork crackling straws were in edible the mains were good not as good as I have had here in the past the desert brownies were dry and stodgy. This is by far the worst meal we have had here and was embarrassing as we had told friends and family how good the food was. I would not recommend again. Also why we were sitting there one of the star decorations fell from the ceiling. Considering we had to pay a deposit I expected it to be better and to find they actually had food not find half the menu was unavailable. Also there to be more of an atmosphere there wasn’t any.

Booked for a life celebration for a small gathering in The Lounge area. From the initial enquiry with Daisy and then checking the area out prior to the day, I cannot fault the staff who were so helpful and reassuring during this stressful time, especially so close to Christmas. Food had been pre-ordered with canapes and sandwiches which were delicious and well received. We arrived a bit earlier than planned but it wasn't a problem and we were welcomed to the booked area. The Lounge part of the pub was perfect and felt very private but had a lovely atmosphere. Again, I can't praise the staff enough for their help in making it a fitting send off for a 96 year old Dad who loved a good pub! Will be returning to try the Sunday Roast soon. Would thoroughly recommend so well done and thank you all. Merry Christmas x

Our family decided to book here for our Christmas get together. We all haven’t been together since 2019, so wanted it to be special. Half of us are local so we’ve been here a few times before in smaller groups and enjoyed it. So made sense to book here. We booked a paid the deposit of £180 for 18 people and told we’d be seated in an area called the snug, which holds 20 people and preordered our food as requested and was told all our food would come out together. Upon arrival there were other people sitting in the ‘snug’ a group of 8-9 people (drinking not ordering food), so we didn’t have enough space for our family to sit. (They were on little lower coffee tables) . We raised this with the staff and was told there was nothing they could do as the person who took the booking wasn’t in and we could have the rest of the space when they left. That group left around 2hr 1/2 later. We asked the staff if they could help us move tables so we could sit together. Well that was like the blind leading the blind and ending up doing it ourselves finding appropriate dining tables in the restaurant and brought them to the snug along with more chairs. When our food came out, it was lukewarm and dry. Not sure if it had been sitting out under heat lamps for 2hrs or what? But wasn’t impressed to say the least. Most of us ordered roasts, some of us had red cabbage, some of us had carrots, some of us had one carrot and some none despite all having roast dinners and some of us had one potato or none. We also ordered sides pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese half of those didn’t arrive. & The children’s roasts… I would have thought they would have made the more ‘child friendly’ a roast with broccoli & peas, roast potatoes and carrots perhaps. Not a sliver of carrot which was burnt, leeks and red cabbage which had a liquorice taste to it. My children aren’t really fussy with food and did try all the food but weren’t really keen especially as the beef was like chewing an old boot. I ended up giving them most of my dinner Which was chicken and then my potatoes as they didn’t have any. You might ask why we never raised this with the staff? We did, and nothing was resolved or fixed just a few confused teenagers (half dressed in tracksuits) looking lost for words. No one checked on us during our meal to see if everything was ok but brought sauces out when we had all finished. But that point was we defeated, fed up, hangry and really disappointed as this was meant to be our first time together since 2019 and first time all being together sadly without my Dad (who had passed this time last year). My aunt (5-6 months pregnant) who arranged this meal was actually quite upset and stressed about the whole experience of the meal. After the meal she raised everything with the manager about how disappointed we all were in the service and how some dishes were missing as well as the quality of the food. He took no responsibility and said it wasn’t his fault and also told us we had all the food there and even stormed over searching for the bowls for the pigs in blankets, aggressively telling us his staff brought them over. Why would we lie about it? It was incredibly unprofessional and rude of him to accuse us of lying. So safe to say they ruined our family get together and it was complete shambles and none of us will be returning again or recommending to anyone. So if you are thinking of booking here with a group size over 7+ I would steer clear because you’ll be disappointed. Perhaps try the Lord Northbrook on burnt ash road.

We were a party of 4 adults & 3 children(9,5 &3) who had Sunday lunch yesterday at the Crown. We loved everything about it- lovely decor, a really chilled atmosphere & fantastic food & service. Thanks to all the staff. We will definitely be returning.

Booked in November for dinner had to pay £10 deposit per person. Arrived told eating in pub, but booked restaurant. Took a while to get seated. Only one pie so we were unable to have pie and mash . No custard for the crumble! However the waiter was excellent on his own , one other party in restaurant. Food was good . When come to pay bill did not take deposit off bill. Go to crown often, as it’s a lovely pub but I was a bit disappointed as it was my husband’s birthday

The most terrible experience here we booked a table for 18 people 3 being kids in high chairs This was all booked And deposit payed We had only enough seating for 12 people We asked for another table at first that was not something they was prepared to do after some fuss we got a extra table from the bar area We was told to pre order our food so we could eat together that didn't happen food come out at different times sides before main so the time mains come out side was coldish and tbh some of the mains was just about warm The manager although not quite sure how that was on the defence as if this terrible set up was our fault we was told that they did not want to accept our booking but head office made them and thats why there was not room for us They did not once come over too see if we was ok or clear the tables and absolute disaster from start to finish This was a regular Sunday spot for us but no more Thank you for a terrible atmosphere cold food and customer service I heard a member of staff talking to someone about us not nice was discounted but that is not the point we wasn't going there for that So that’s there way of sorry But we did not have the day we was hoping for

Came to The Crown after finishing work for a glass of wine and a roast. No regrets, I ordered the roast chicken which was cooked perfectly along with the rest of the roast trimmings. The braised red cabbage was lovely, seasoned well and great flavours. The Yorkshire pudding was the size of my head, exactly what I needed after a long day at work. I'll definitely be back again, the pub itself had a great atmosphere and the staff were very polite and helpful.

I went to the pub yesterday with my family and a friend to watch a sporting event on TV. The atmosphere was good. The only thing I want to see is steak served with sauce!

The crown is our beloved neighbourhood pub. However yesterday the Camembert was not how we remember it, it has a bitter taste and cooked to become too liquid. Plant burger always the best. Please fix the Camembert and we will be back soon!

Really horrible Manager, the one with gritty voice. I live close to this pub and would avoid it like a plague! Tried to take £60 deposit so we could all watch some sports as a family and when I tried to amend it(added more ppl) they said they were no playing the sport ! I was furious because I had already made arrangements! I won't go back there. Food isn't particularly good either, steaks are dry and don't come with any sauce!

This place came up when I was after a quick bite for lunch. Such a lovely pub, very friendly staff and carefully prepared tasty food. On top of that, the pub is very quaint and has a lot of character. I'll definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

Went for Sunday lunch with my wife Maureen and our dog, Benji. We loved the ambiance and the good service. The restaurant area was particularly busy but we enjoyed our lunch in the main lounge area. Excellent food, although just the roast potatoes slightly over-done. The roast beef was a little over-priced at £22, but there was lots of it.

Great pub, for a clean and very family friendly atmosphere! We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch, the pork belly was honestly one of the best ive ever had! Very friendly and a tentative staff, plus the smell of an open fire in the back ground, turned a regular Sunday afternoon lunch into a real treat!

Very helpful staff and comfortable surroundings- we had Sunday lunch - meat &roast potatoes were very tasty but meal was let down by meagre portion of vegetables- couple of skinny carrots, a scattering of leeks, a thin burnt parsnip. Same experience as a few months...

I love the atmosphere here. The staff work really hard but the food was not so good. We've had lunch and a dinner here in the last few weeks. Sandwiches half-filled, minute size vegetable portions, semi-cooked roast potatoes and over-baked yorkshires. The roast dinners were barely warm and tasted like they had been microwaved. Very disappointed. I'm sorry to say i can't see us eating here again.

A nice environment with a good atmosphere, and helpful staff. Very tasty, good quality meat…. Such a shame they ‘portion control’ the veg to a minimum. We haven’t been here for a while coz of this, thought now the prices are the same as elsewhere...

We had a meeting here, with lunch and tea/coffee. The food was fresh and delicious, and the staff were brilliant. They went out of their way to cater to dietary restrictions. Great attention to detail, and made a big contribution to the success of the meeting.

The place is quite nice but, food is mediocre at best. Service...they didn't bring cutlery, napkins, etc. Which made me happy I didn't tip 13% in advance when ordering through the app. The beer was flatter than Keira Knightley and warm.

Was having a nice lunch today until another local came in and sat near us with his huge status dog. Pubs these days seem obsessed with appearing to be dog friendly while ignoring the fact some people are not keen on dogs especially status dogs. The dog was an unmuzzled XL Pitbull type dog, The dog did not do anything but a non dog owner should not be put in a position where they have to be mindful of someone else's dog. In future I will simply avoid the Crown as the priority appears to be the needs of dog owners.

I’ve been visiting from America for the past few weeks and this is the 4th time I’ve had Pie and Mash but the first time I was offered vinegar with it. I would’ve never thought to put vinegar on pie and mash but Steve was very kind to explain to me that that (along with the rectangular shaped pie) is the more traditional way of eating it. It was delicious! The staff were all incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was very cozy. So much so that I went 2 nights in a row. I only wish I had discovered this place sooner so I could’ve gone more while here!

Had the the hake and it was out of this world. Everyone else was happy with their choice of food. Staff are always friendly we always eat here.

The Crown is an absolutely lovely local tavern in SE12 that is very spacious (outdoor and indoor seating) with a proper restaurant towards the back. The front portion is the bar itself with self seating and TV screens. The staff is also extremely welcoming and friendly. Also I had my very first proper English Sunday roast and it was divine! I absolutely devoured the dish. To be specific I ordered the Crown Trio roast and everything was cooked to perfection. Vegetarians and Vegans - there are options for you on the menu as well. My friends had the Ultimate plant burger and plant sausages. Overall 10/10!

Ive been coming here for over a decade and on the whole it’s great but can be very hit and miss. Generally the food is good but the prices have gone up quite a bit recently. Not sure what happened tonight but the wrong starter was brought and took over and hour to get the kids meals. We love this place, the staff are lovely but sometimes the service just seems off. Not sure why!

Great looking pub didn’t try the food so can’t comment beer selection was OK ended up having a Guinness but it was a good one and they were showing the Arsenal so it gets a 5 star from me.
