We popped in for a drink a bite to eat before going to the Brockley Jack theatre. The bar staff were really friendly and there was a good choice of beers - wine less so, but we had a nice glass and I guess the pub is called the Beer Dispensary. The food came in the form of pizzas, through an arrangement they have with a nearby establishment... the pizzas were great and were delivered to our table within 15 minutes. Bar has a nice, cosy feel to it and we really enjoyed it. The toilets could do with some sprucing up, hence the four star - would be a five star otherwise.

Food prices OK, a piece of my fried haddock was cold, uncooked and raw! Staff did not replace the piece of battered haddock.

Have visited several times since first visit earlier this summer and never disappointed. Great selection of drinks. Staff always very friendly and efficient. Outdoor space is nice but small but lots of tables inside. Have had pizza there which was very nice but mainly just go for drinks and the lovely atmosphere.

Lovely atmosphere, great decor, staff with handsome faces. Unfortunately chicken wings were a load of dog plop. Advertised as buffalo wings but arrived as scrubby mediocre wings coated in cracked pepper and chilli powder. Not to be costumed by a chicken wing connoisseur. Lack of care towards the art of wing chicken, lazy. Asked for blue cheese to accompany poor wings in a vain attempt to add some flavour but alas it did not arrive. Then whence arriving to the bar 35 mins later for the next round was asked if we still wanted the blue cheese...well no thanks, unless someone wants to scoop it up with a small spoon? But would the spoon even arrive? Looking at prior experience, probably not. 5/10 xoxox

Ordered the hot dogs, chips and hot wings. Hot dog was disappointing, had no kind of home made feel, bbq sauce not homemade (used to be), blue cheese could have been melted etc, would accept this from a german beer festival not from somewhere that markets theirselves with proper homemade food. 'Hot' wings were crispy wings served with a hot dip, just not really what you expect. Chips were nice as always. A bit more care would go a long way!

5 of us and our dog had a lovely evening at the London Beer Dispensary last night. Great atmosphere, really good food cooked by the new chef. Friendly, welcoming staff. Thoroughly recommend this place. Have been here many times before and always enjoyed it but this is the first time I’ve wanted to review on Trip Advisor as extra impressed. Many thanks, we’ll see you soon.

Nice beer, but pretty expensive for the area. Whilst quietly sitting down to enjoy my first pint I got asked to leave the table I was sitting at by the manager in order to make way for some grumbling regulars.

I’ve been coming in here regularly but since Martin took over the kitchen and since the refurb this place has turned a corner. The food is incredible! We can barely breathe because we’re so full! I highly recommend the steak wrap, which is incredibly large and hearty for a mere £9! I spoke to the chef, Martin, and he is still working on a new menu but in the meantime the stuff he is cooking is so tasty and HUGE! Special mention must go to the wonderful staff who are so smiley, welcoming and friendly. Now when I come here I always feel like I’m among friends, which wasn’t the case a year ago. Thank you so much, guys, for making this pub extra special.

In a time when we are talking about pubs closing down, here is one that has opened in the last few years. Great little bar ...... although it doesn't have one! Great burgers, great beer choice and lovely people who know their stuff. Don't expect anything fancy, it is exactly what it says on the tin. An old fashioned ale house dispensing beer.

Regularly visit the beer despensiry, love the atmosphere and great beers! Food can be amazing but can’t help feel disappointed on a couple of occasions where they don’t have all the meal items advertised and won’t mention it. £14 for a roast you expect a bit more than boiled carrots and broccoli. Previous visits the £9.50 nachos have been made with American square cheese and a hunk of pork (as oppose to pulled). Can sometimes seem as if you’re served a pile of left overs, understandable to not always have everything but informing before or knocking down the price would make the food less of a dissapointment.

I used to come here almost on a weekly basis and previously voted for the Beer Dispensary to be on the London Time Out small business awards. However, after the business was taken over by its current owners the pub has really suffered. The beer selection is as good as it used to be but the staff really let this place down; for example, I asked what a beer on the keg was like - the response was a rather perplexed..."it's a beer". On another occasion I asked for recommendations on what to drink from a chap who quite clearly had no interest in serving me - I was only allowed to try 1 beer and then was asked to "make a choice". The previous staff really made this place and unfortunately I have rarely returned since then. Go if you want good, varied beer but don't expect anything else.

I've been here twice now and was impressed both times. Comfie, great selection of different ales, spacious - outside patio - friendly young staff, good prices. Only disappointment last night was the lack of a really dark ale or a stout or a porter. Lots of pale ales so perhaps drop one of these and add a lovely smoky porter - then i'll give 5 stars!

Bad prices, bad service, bad food...AVOID! Food is poor and the prices are extortionate for what you get. Also comes topped with very bad service!!!

Just a suggestion to the management. When a pint is served with a 1.5cm head and the customer asks for it to be topped. The correct response is a smile and a careful top up. **NOT** a sigh, a rolling of the eyes and a pull on the pump that leaves it less filled than before. (Note to non UK readers. In the UK you pay for a pint and a pint is what you get. If the froth at the top aka 'the head' is too large you are perfectly entitled to ask for it to be topped up so that there is maybe a few millimetres of head. In some parts of the country, oversized glasses are used with a line to indicate the legal pint level.) Otherwise I have been popping in here quite irregularly for several years and have found it quite variable. At its best it is five star, but too often it does not quite seem to manage customer service quite well enough; but never less than three star.
