Service was great, Mansi was attentive and made sure we were well taken care off. Potatoes in roast could have been better.

Cannot rave about this place enough, group of 8 of us went for lunch so we ordered quite a bit and everything was incredible, really quick and reasonably priced. 10/10 hospitality too all the staff are so lovely and welcoming, will absolutely be coming back! Didn't get a chance to find out who was looking after us but we were there 3pm Saturday and they were a such a star

Great food, great service, great ambience! This place I'd kind of the platonic ideal of the neighbourhood pub/bistro. They've got a great kitchen (I highly recommend the steak and a glass of wine deal for 17 quid, it's an absolute bargain and the steak is always beautifully cooked) and a really nice range of ales and beers. Sunday roasts are proper. Service is really nice, more attentive than one expects from a pub, and you can tell they're all sound folk. They do cool music nights, jazz on Sundays. See you down there!

We just love the 'Albert, a lovely friendly boozer. Good range of ales and the 241 burgers on a Wednesday hits the spot too. Thank you, Seb, for your hospitality.

Really nice staff and great service. We came for Sunday roast that was pretty decent but could be improved with greater variety of veggies. We had shredded white and red cabbage and a couple of roasties. Instead of a monster chicken I would have had some parsnips, carrots, leeks, sprouts etc.

Nicely laid out, proper pub with a good mix of nice pub food, an arty and local crowd, and events. Can get REALLY busy on an event night and nicely quiet the rest of the time.

Cool place, even for a person who drinks orange juice, we always order the chicken tai pizza or something like that.

Booked a table for a birthday party and we ended up with the back room. Sid took great care of us and made sure we had a good night.

It's our local pub, and we could not be luckier. The staff are friendly and helpful, the background music is nice, and the whole pub has a great vibe. The food is delicious—I highly recommend the burgers! They're the best in the neighborhood.

Tonight’s performance, inspired by the sax player, looking at a forest and setting sun, captured the emotional turmoil of isolation during the pandemic. The forest, usually peaceful, became a backdrop for despair, anger, and longing. The interplay of light and shadow, with the sun looming ominously, mirrored a deep internal conflict between hope and hopelessness. It was a dark, powerful reflection of the longing for freedom and connection, yet tainted by anxiety and uncertainty. The performance immersed me to remember how nature can reflect our raw emotions in times of crisis. Colleen H. Brilliant !!!

Great roast and great service! Came here with family for a Sunday roast and it was a great choice. They only have 3 options but small menus typically means each option is perfect. So was the case. We didn't try the veggie wellington although it looked amazing. Chicken was cooked perfectly and so was beef (a bit on a rare side but it was delicious and tender, good quality cut). I recommend a bloody Mary too. It was one of the best ones out there. The service was lovely and very attentive. Would definitely pop back in, especially with all the gigs and quizzes happening out there!

Top notch, take my money. Bring your friends. Simple yet well executed with pizzazz. Knowledgeable, helpful and friend staff. Oh and the tartar sauce is on point. 11/10

Why isn’t there a drink category on Google because this is a five star drinks establishment. We didn’t eat but enjoyed good services and good beers including guest beers.

First visit as we came in from Hampshire to a show at the nearby community theatre. Swe received such a warm welcome. Great to see 'happy hour' prices and enjoy our drinks. Our first choice menu item was off but very pleased with what we had. Great atmosphere, lovely visit. Sorry you are so far away from home!

It took too much time before the food was served. Other people arriving after me were served before me. The kitchen seemed very confused.

It's a great pub and they have decent music. The food is top notch but not easy for a fussy eater like me ( no seafood gluten, yeast, beef, barley or oats). Everyone loves it. The roast are wicked.

Not only did we have the best service ever known to man, I also now know what I’m going to be naming my first born son. Seb just got it. Quicker than you could say , ‘this service is making me horny’ he had organised a tab, served us pints and taken our food order. He helped dry our seats outside, he brought us multicoloured moustaches, water and all the sauces. You know when you meet a guy who’s good at what he does. He knew what we wanted before we did. The speed of this man was biblical. When I next need a doctors appointment I know who I’m calling to organise it. I feel like we have just stumbled across the biggest kept secret in London, and he happens to work in a great pub.

We visited for the Monday quiz - it was the first time we’ve been despite driving/walking past so many times. The quiz was brilliant, well hosted and fun. Not too easy and not too difficult. The pub itself is really warm and welcoming. There were lots of events being advertised which all look well thought through and exciting; if there was a way to sign up for news I definitely would as there’s definitely a lot going on! Drinks were great too - good non-alcoholic choice. Looking forward to returning.

A real old world gem. Cheeky little Star Wars references scattered around. Lovely big open fire 🔥 too. The bar lady was very friendly and made us both feel welcome. Wish it was our local 😪

Great pub, with excellent food, the sport on during the day and live music in the evening. We've spent a couple of lazy Sundays here and it's great!!

I’ve now celebrated my birthday here twice and cannot recommend it highly enough. Great location! The staff were fab - friendly and extremely attentive with the food and drinks orders, despite there being 12+ of us. Food was delicious! I’d recommend the beef burger. Drinks very reasonably priced. Everything you’d want from a pub. My favourite pub in New Cross (and one of my favourites in the whole of London!)

Had a meal with my son in the Royal Albert couple of weeks ago which was excellent & very reasonably priced. Went with my wife Saturday night & the atmosphere was superb with an excellent live 4-piece jazz band in too…loads of people dancing & was lots of fun…easy to recommend for food, selection of drinks, great staff & atmosphere.

Sid & Brandon are top lads. great service and well priced pints. Great pint of XPA!

Really enjoy the drinks options of beer and cider options. Clean nice pub that gives off romantic, cute/ homey vibes. Lovely staff as well. One of the best if not the best in the area if you ask me

Staff are always lovely and make sure you are well looked after.

It's a great place but they need to have more open mics with Archie as host. Once a month is too little. Hence why I've given 3 stars instead of 5. At the least, every fortnight, like come on, Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler's brother David and many others played there too. How we gonna discover local talents nowadays if you make the live open mics a rarity? Make it much more than once a month please.

Fantastic staff and drinks. Very friendly. (imho) the Open Mic is so unique with the most ethnically and socially diverse Open Mic I've come across in London. I wish the Open Mic was weekly like other pubs. However unlike other bars / pubs, the Open Mic here represents a unity and harmony of so many different cultures and beliefs that is not seen anywhere else. We deserve more of that... Many thanks.

Such a great pub. Went for a roast dinner on Sunday - food was incredible (and plentiful!). The service was amazing, everyone was so friendly and attentive. Decor and atmosphere is really nice. They’re dog friendly too so that was great. We go for a LOT of roast dinners, usually try somewhere different every Sunday, and this is definitely up there for us, top 3! Had a really nice time, will definitely be back and would definitely recommend.

Came in with a group of friends for a late lunch & I couldn't fault the service or the food.

We rocked up on a Sunday afternoon, without a booking, after a 5-year-old's birthday party, with a group of hyperactive kids and tired adults. The staff, service and food were all excellent. We were made to feel very welcome, despite being a rowdy group! We had a lovely time, the perfect Sunday afternoon in a pub. Thank you.

Gluten free beer on TAP!!!!! Have been coming here since 2013 then moved away. I'm so glad to have got a job close by so I get to come back again. It's an amazing space, really relaxed, great lighting, comfy chairs and awesome staff.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would, because Seb is fabulous! Thanks so much for keeping us fed, watered, and entertained for our punk weekender x

A lovely, spacious pub providing warm and welcoming service and tasty food.

Neither myself or any of my friends have taken to the soul-sucking refurb but it clearly has its fans so good luck to them.

Lovely pub - bit expensive, but it's worth it for the atmosphere. Friendly staff, great buskers night, really nice vibe, extremely comfy chairs if you get in quick enough, all around nice energy. Didn't eat there on this occasion but from past experience, food nothing to write home about particularly but good if fairly standard selection and enjoyable. Have taken my parents here before as well, so well rounded for that kind of occasion as well as a nice night out. Old Fashioneds are tip top.

This used to be my favourite pub and would go almost every weekend, and since the renovation I’ve only been once. It’s been completely completely stripped of any character it had. What was a classic English pub and amazing music venue, is now a soulless Gastro pub. Very sad

Lovely place and nice and helpful staff The manager is a good chap supporting local community and culture. There is a hidden gen in this pub, Jessy. She is a super star... She seems to have mastered the art of customer engagement and business development with the best skills that are in this industry There is another chap in the bar who is super friendly and helpful if you bother to ask for help, I got the best drinks and still managed my alcohol intake limits !!!!

With a family reunion booked and people coming from all over we arrived only to be told that the kitchen was closed. Apparently they forgot to call us and tell us..bit late for that by then with people arriving by car, bus and train. Obviously it was a mistake but a shocking one. Be very careful to double check your bookings as they clearly aren’t on the ball. It’ll be our last visit there.

Was here to do portrait drawing. Had a lovely evening. First time going to something like this and really enjoyed it.

Been here a few times now and have always enjoyed chilling over a beer. Staff are very hospitable and knowledgeable about the draught offerings. Would definitely continue visiting when back in the area

Had dinner at the RA last night (30th July). We were served by the same waiter as too long ago. He was, as usual, on top form: friendly, efficient, just the right amount of attention. We had medium (her) and rare (me) roast beef and it was delicious and nicely presented. There was plenty of it with Yorkshire pudding, caramelised carrot, white and red cabbage, roast potatoes. We now intend to come more often although other New Cross restaurants are closer. We've been missing out! A band was setting up, too late for us on a Sunday, but you could see jazz devotees aplenty waiting for a good performance.
